Abstract

The article discusses the tragic story of Indian-American woman Purvi Patel who was convicted and sentenced for 20 years committing feticide who suffered miscarriage in Indiana. Topics mentioned include the first woman to be sent to prison for feticide in the U.S., the comment of Lynn Paltrow, the National Advocates for Pregnant Women executive director that pregnancies became the subject of policing and prosecution, and the concern for law reform and stop punishing women for pregnancy loss.
