On Operational Leadership.

The article discusses the warfighting abilities and traits of operational commanders in winning wars at the operational and strategic levels. Topics discussed include personality traits of operational commanders including high intellect, mental flexibility and ability to communicate ideas, need of operational thinking to understand military and nonmilitary aspects of a situation, and the role of field trips, war games, and commanding large forces in obtaining operational thinking.
