'PIETY AND JUSTICE' The motto of Charles IX.

The article focuses on the design of the King cello created by Andrea Amati which was based on King Charles IX's motto "Pietate et lustitia" or Piety and Justice. It states that the motto is traced in Romanised capital letters in gold leaf on the rib garland of the cello. It adds that the designs of the columns were similar of those on a table centre made by the goldsmiths of Paris, France for Charles IX's Paris entry and marriage.
