Hand-based biometrics

The human hand and finger provide the source for a number of biometric techniques with geometry-based, vein and palmprint technologies now available. Despite the availability of technologies on the increase, however, the number of companies in the market is decreasing each year. Nevertheless, the overall revenue picture remains healthy with geometry systems leading the way. Biometric market share erosion is still occurring in this sector, however, and this is a trend that will be hard to reverse. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
