Abstract

This article presents a reprint of a historical document from 1631, which discusses the relationship between indigenous Mexicans and Spanish government official Gonzalo Fernández Madaleno in Santa Clara de los Cobres, Michoacán, Mexico. The author examines the government treatment of and policies towards indigenous groups in the region, as evidenced in the document.
