Abstract

The article explores the state of relations between Brazil and Africa during the presidency of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva from 2003 to 2010. Topics discussed include a description of power configurations during the post-Cold War period and a background of race, culture and diplomacy before da Silva won the presidency in 2002. Also discussed are the reaons for the successful overtures of da Silva to Africa.
