Abstract

After the edition of the Educacional Guides «Gender and Citizenship in Presschool Education» and «Gender and Citizenship in the 1st cycle of basic education», results of a partnership between the Portuguese Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) and the Governmental Educational Department (DGE), it is now in development their dissemination in the educational institutions. The above guidelines present a set of (possible) answers to the pedagogical approach of gender, in terms of resources and in terms of instruments supporting the analysis (and occasional change ) of educational practice. The practical application of the suggested activities presents some results: the virtues of educational practice (related to this problem, and the fears, difficulties and ethical dilemmas identified and experienced by professionals, like the "fear of conflict". The data already collected, shows that it is mainly the organization of the group, the way that is made the management of interactions and conflicts that naturally arise in the life of the class, the main difficulties of the teachers. Among the various aspects often cited to justify this difficulty arises the fear of facing the conflict and ethical dilemmas of action that invoke dichotomies such as "intervene or not to intervene"; « give more importance to the individual or to the group"...en [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
