Abstract

Introduction. In trauma, injuries to face, head and neck are relatively frequents; the nose is the most prominent part of the face and has little protection and support. It is romper easier facial bone and not uncommon to be most frequent in present fracture by some traumatism, however jaw fractures are the second pathology more frequent in connection with facial trauma, and the main cancellations of attention by the maxillofacial surgeon. Objective. To know the frequency of patients diagnosed with fracture or fractures of mandible, in the service of surgery Maxillofacial of the Central Military Hospital, in the period from January 2009 to November 20, 2012. Material and methods. This study was developed in the maxillofacial surgery outpatient facilities and file clinician of the military Central Hospital. Records of patients who presented as main diagnostic fracture of mandible, served by service surgery Maxillofacial of the Central Military Hospital in the period from January 2009 to November 20, 2012 were reviewed. Results. Based on data obtained from the electronic clinical record available to the Central Military Hospital, reviewed the records of 90 patients who were diagnosed with fracture of mandible with key international S02.6, same treaties with different behavior that treating, depended on the characteristics of the fracture and the service experience of which 55 (61.1%) were assessed and treated by maxillofacial surgery service.
