Abstract
- The article focuses on the use of nanomaterials for conservation of artefacts. It states that microemulsions, due to their huge interfacial area, can be used for better cleaning of artefacts and are less toxic as compared to organic solvents such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. It discusses the use of amphiphilic formulation, containing ethyl acetate, propylene carbonate and a surfactant, for the removal of aged acrylicâ€vinyl copolymers from historic murals.
