Abstract

The article analyzes G. Călinescu's implication in the process of Romania's Stalinization during 1944-1946. We take into account a few articles he published in that period in "Tribuna poporului" and "Naţiunea" newspapers. In a previous paper, we made a series of considerations regarding G. Călinescu relations with The Union of Patriots. This time, we refer mainly to his position in the National Popular Party (funded in 1946), a propaganda satellite of the Romania Communist Party. Documents reveal that this political organization was created in order to induce a false public image about left extremism governing intentions. In this point, G. Călinescu served deliberately the Marxist-Leninist ideology about democratizing Romanian society. His rhetoric was based mainly on the ideas of Monarchy, respect of property and moderate governing coalition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
