Mention of Rhonda Principali, a home-worker who assembles medical kits and is paid for the number of kits which she can assemble per day; Products which are made by home-workers, including textiles, circuit boards, jewelry, and stuffed animals; Observation that home work paid by the piece seems to be disappearing, in light of cheaper labor in China; Lack of employee benefits and worker's compensation for some home workers; Proliferation of home work in the late 19th century, when factories faced a labor shortage and employed poor immigrant women in their homes.
