Focuses on the idea that apple trees in Kazakhstan may help to save the apple industry by helping to provide apples with more genetic diversity, and combating diseases which affect apple trees. Idea that apples originated in the country in a region known as Tien Shen; Observation that apple diseases are rare in the trees of the Tien Shen, where there is genetic diversity among the trees; Way that Kazakhstan apples resist diseases such as apple scab and apple rust; Belief of scientists that by going to a fruit's place of origin, they can find genes that developed over the centuries and can produce from them super-resistant hybrids.
