Abstract
- The article discusses the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit's ruling in the 2014 case Al Shimari v. CACI Premier Technology Inc. which deals with America's Alien Tort Statute (ATS), the country's foreign relations laws, and four Iraqi nationals who claim that they were tortured by U.S. military contractors at the Abu Ghraib prison complex. It states that the ATS gives federal courts jurisdiction over certain civil actions committed by aliens. Several other legal cases are examined.
