Abstract: The article discusses fraudulent activity known as brushing on the electronic-commerce Websites of Chinese Internet firm Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. Brushing involves fake orders and product reviews aimed at raising a seller's profile. Alibaba executive Yu Weimin has said that in 2013 there were 500 million fake transactions on the company's Taobao Website. China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce has accused Alibaba of allowing brushing and other types of fraud.
