VOCES DEL MÁS ALLÁ, ENUNCIADOS DEL MÁS ACÁ: LA RELIGIOSIDAD POPULAR Y EL DISCURSO ACERCA DE UNA SANTA JUDÍA.

There are plenty of popular religious practices in northwestern Argentina, practices that are based on the lives and miracles of people who stand out because of their histories or their tragical deaths. Although this form of veneration is generally a part of the Catholic religion, in the province of Tucumán we detected an exceptional cult based on a Jewish >saint<. The resulting hybridisation makes it paradigmatic of the Latin American interculturality. From a discourse analytical perspective we explore the way devotees of this cult produce meanings, and how this process is influenced by the context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
