Abstract

Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of lateral wall resection of middle turbinate combined with the endoscopic sinusitis surgery. Methods: 160 patients who were undertaken the endoscopic sinusitis surgery were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the observation group. The patients in the control group were treated by the open surgery, while the patients in the observation group were conducted by the lateral wall resection of middle turbinate besides the control's. Then the average frequency of postoperative dressing, the rate of total efficacy, the SNOT-20 score and the adverse reactions after the treatment of the patients in the two groups were observed and compared. Results: The average frequencies of post-operative dressing of the control group were significantly higher than that of the observation group (P<0.05); The rate of total efficacy in the control group was 72.50% which was lower than 92.50% in the observation group with statistically significant differences (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in SNOT-20 score between the two groups before the treatment (P>0.05); The SNOT-20 score of the observation group after treatment was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference about the adverse reactions in the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: Endoscopic sinus surgery has significant clinical efficacy and safety on the treatment of lateral wall resection in the middle turbinate, so it is worthy of clinical promotion.
