Abstract

From now on, for the independent practice of psychology in the field of health in Spain, the psychologist must complete the newly created Master's degree in General Healthcare Psychology. However, this mandatory university course is not required for access to the specialised healthcare training that provides the title of "clinical psychologist" (the PIR, an internship in Clinical Psychology). In this paper we argue in favour of changing the access to the specialised training program in clinical psychology so as to ensure that the knowledge and skills specifically related to healthcare offered by the university are included in the curricula of future clinical psychologists. Finally, the risks to the entire profession of impoverishing the university studies of clinical psychologists are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
