ZNANSTVENO NAKLADNIŠTVO U HRVATSKOJ.

Institutions (universities, institutes, museums, etc.), professional associations and private publishers are engaged in scientific publishing in Croatia. Fifty private publishers publish about 80% of scientific books supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. Scientific and technical book publishers have the same problems as other specialized publishers, along with some specific problems such as photocopying, scanning books and putting on the website, the inability to display and sell in bookstores, etc. Institutional publishers' production is less available, so it is necessary for the publishers to commit to carrying out in full the whole process of production, promotion and sales (either alone or in partnership with private publishers). A book that is not available in bookstores and libraries, or has no adequate presentation, seems like it has not been published at all. The Scientific and Technical Books Publishers' Group at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce and the Knjižni blok invested efforts and achieved results in investigating situation related to e-books. Translated and prepared materials aim to help publishers to get acquainted with this type of book publishing in order to devise strategies for e-books. The e-book is extremely important for the Croatian public, and beyond. The formation of the market greatly reduces problems associated with shipping, customs and billing and enhances scientific and cultural cooperation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
