Abstract

The article discusses the study on Pedaliaceae and Martyniaceae phylogeny, Old World and New World families in arid environments, often combined as one family Pedaliaceae, and the assignment of Asian aquatic plant Trapella to Pedaliaceae. Topics discussed include ndhF and trnLF chloroplast loci, and external transcribed spacer (ETS) sequences data and expanded sampling confirming distinct lineages for two families, and identifying Trapella placement in tribe Gratioleae, Plantaginaceae s. l.
