Abstract: The article presents the geological engineering conditions of the Trans-Urals and Piedmont plain, slopes of the Ural and intermountain basins, mountain ranges and slopes, and river valley of the Chelyabinsk region in Russia. Various geological factors are considered including the types of soils, ground water characteristics, geochemical and geodynamical function of lithosphere. The river Sak-Elgi lower reaches are also assessed based on engineering-ecological and engineering-geological methods.
