Abstract: A conference paper related to the affects of government interventions on insurgency violence to be presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association on August 28 ? 31 2014. Topics discussed include suggestion from the U.S. Army and Marine Corps Counterinsurgency (COIN) Field Manual on the pillars of COIN warfare such as governance reform and development aid, and highlighting the role of grievances causes violent conflict.
