Abstract

In this article, the authors comment on a study conducted by researcher H.E. Bloomfield and colleagues on benefits and drawbacks of pelvic examination (PE) for diagnosis of cervical cancer among women. Topics discussed include information on tests conducted during PE including visual examination of external genitalia, the speculum examination, and the bimanual examination (BME), fear and anxiety from PE among patients and speculum examination's drawbacks resulting to lack of cytology test.
