Abstract

The article discusses the likelihood that Saudi Arabia's oil policy will not change following the January 2015 death of King Abdullah. Sarah Emerson of research firm ESAI Energy LLC says Saudi Arabia will not reduce its output despite a global oil glut in order to protect its current and future market share. Fund manager Nader Naeimi said it was not clear if an increase in oil prices following the announcement of Abdullah's death could be sustained.
