Entropy and entropy production in magnetic systems with hysteresis.

A thermodynamic model of hysteresis is presented based on an internal variable reinterpretation of the Preisach model. Explicit expressions are obtained for the entropy and the entropy production for arbitrary open field histories. The model is applied to the prediction of nonmonotonic heat exchange along the hysteresis loop measured for ferromagnets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
