Reports that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced that methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) would no longer be classified as an air toxic under the agency's proposal. Implications for the agency's stringent control of the substance as a hazardous air pollutant under the Clean Air Act; Plan to continuously regulate MEK as a volatile organic compound; Regulation of industrial releases or transfers of MEK.
