Abstract
- The article presents a study which examines the traditional aspects of imperial legitimacy under Arcadius and Honorius, the heirs of Roman emperor Theodosius. The representation of ancestry, merit and divine blessing in the names of Arcadius and Honorius are investigated. According to the author, Arcadius and Honorius derived their authority directly from the blessing of God.
