The spontaneous exchange bias effect (SEB) has wide application prospects in information storage technologies. In this study, nanoscale raw materials were used to fabricate antiferromagnetic Fe3BO6 polycrystals. The obtained Fe3BO6 exhibited a large SEB effect, where the value of the spontaneous exchange bias field at room temperature was as large as ∼4234 Oe. The room-temperature training effect, temperature-dependence, and maximum field-dependence of the HSEB were investigated. We propose that this giant SEB originates from the exchange-coupling interactions between the weak ferromagnetic surface state and the bulk antiferromagnetic state. The theoretical analysis results were further verified by comparing the magnetic properties of the Fe3BO6 with relatively low crystallinity. The in situ growth dynamics of colloidal silver–gold core–shell (Ag@Au CS) nanoparticles (NPs) are studied using time-dependent second harmonic generation (SHG) and extinction spectroscopy. Four sequential additions of chloroauric acid, sodium citrate, and hydroquinone are added to a silver nanoparticle solution to form a gold shell around a 45 nm silver core under different reaction conditions, resulting in final sizes ranging from 80 to 125 nm in diameter. In the first addition, a bumpy, urchin-like surface morphology is produced, while the second, third, and fourth additions provide additional nanoparticle growth with the surface morphology becoming more smooth and uniform, as shown using transmission electron microscopy measurements. The in situ extinction spectra increase in intensity for each addition, where blue-shifting and spectral narrowing are observed as the Ag@Au CS NPs grow in size. The extinction spectra are compared to Mie theory simulations, showing general agreement at later stages of the reactions for smooth CS surfaces. The in situ SHG signal is dominated by surface-enhanced plasmonic hotspots at the early stages of the shell growth, followed by gradual decreases in signal as the surface becomes more smooth. Two-photon fluorescence is also monitored during the CS growth, showing complementary information for comparisons to the extinction and SHG results. The holistic study of the synthesis and characterization of Ag@Au CS nanoparticles using in situ SHG spectroscopy, extinction spectroscopy, and Mie theory simulations allows for a comprehensive analysis of the complex growth dynamics occurring at the nanoscale for developing optimized plasmonic nanomaterial properties. We investigate the MX2 (M = {Hf, Zr}, X = {S, Se}) transition metal dichalcogenides patterned into armchair (AC) and zigzag (ZZ) nanoribbons (NRs) as potential channel materials in future logic field-effect devices. Ab initio quantum transport simulations are employed to assess the electronic, transport, and ballistic field-effect transistor (FET) properties of devices with such quasi-one-dimensional channels. We report a non-monotonic scaling behavior of MX2NR properties due to strong quantum confinement effects, which is reflected in a strong dependence of the ON-state current (ION) of MX2NR FETs on the nanoribbon configuration. The ∼2 nm-wide HfSe2 and ZrSe2 AC-PFETs have the highest ION of up to 2.6 mA/μm at 10 nA/μm OFF-state current. Surprisingly, MX2NR ZZ-NFETs exhibit a current increase of up to 70% when channel width is scaled down, with ION reaching 2.2 mA/μm in ∼2 nm-wide devices. The high ON-state performance is a direct consequence of high carrier injection velocity, which is explained by analyzing the band structure, transmission, and density of states. Three-dimensional (3D) reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/Ti2CTx MXene hybrid aerogels were effectively prepared by a two-step method involving hydrothermal reaction and freeze-drying. The intimately coupled rGO/Ti2CTx hybrid aerogel combined high electrical conductivity, large interlayer spacing, and excellent mechanical stability of Ti2CTx, which not only effectively prevents the self-restacking of Ti2CTx nanosheets, exposes more active sites exposed, and improves the volume change during the charge/discharge process but also increases the accessibility of ions and promotes the rapid transfer of ions/electrons. As a result, rGO/Ti2CTx 17.5–2.5 as the working electrode of electric double layer capacitors delivers a large specific capacity (107.05 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 in a 1M Na2SO4 electrolyte), a high rate capability (maintains 30% of its initial capacitance at 10 A g−1, which is much better than rGO and Ti2CTx), and excellent long-term large-current cycle stability (the initial capacitance remains above 71.1% after 10 000 cycles at 1 A g−1). In addition to providing a high-performance electrode for supercapacitors, this study proposes an efficient and time-saving strategy for constructing 3D structures from 2D materials. In the liquid phase of heterogeneous catalysis, solvent plays an important role and governs the kinetics and thermodynamics of a reaction. Although it is often difficult to quantify the role of the solvent, it becomes particularly challenging when a zeolite is used as the catalyst. This difficulty arises from the complex nature of the liquid/zeolite interface and the different solvation environments around catalytically active sites. Here, we use ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to probe the local solvation structure and dynamics of methanol and water over MWW zeolite nanosheets with varying Brønsted acidity. We find that the zeolite framework and the number and location of the acid sites in the zeolite influence the structure and dynamics of the solvent. In particular, methanol is more likely to be in the vicinity of the aluminum (Al3+) at the T4 site than at T1 due to easy accessibility. The methanol oxygen binds strongly to the Al at the T4 site, weakening the Al–O for the bridging acid site, which results in the formation of the silanol group, significantly reducing the acidity of the site. The behavior of methanol is in direct contrast to that of water, where protons can easily propagate from the zeolite to the solvent molecules regardless of the acid site location. Our work provides molecular-level insights into how solvent interacts with zeolite surfaces, leading to an improved understanding of the catalytic site in the MWW zeolite nanosheet. The acid-resistant tungsten trioxide photoelectrochemical solid–liquid ultraviolet (UV) photodetector uses a thin film of tungsten trioxide as the photoelectrode, forming a stable heterojunction with the electrolyte. This study employed band theory and double electron layer theory to analyze the mechanisms underlying the effect of pH on the redox potential and photocurrent, utilizing the ion product constant of water and the Nernst equation. By applying the principles of energy band theory and the two-electron layer model, the electron transfer process was analyzed and explained. These findings hold significant promise for enhancing solid–liquid heterojunction UV photodetectors. Tungsten trioxide has fast response and high sensitivity under extreme conditions. The device performance of WO3 nanosheets fabricated by annealing at 300 °C for one hour is excellent, including a rise time of 0.7 s, decay time of 6.8 s, photosensitivity of 1.90, and photoresponsivity of 2.31 mA/W. 0.5M sulfuric acid produced the highest photocurrent (5.46 μA) and sensitivity (14.07). Surface tension and interfacial tension are crucial to the study of nanomaterials. Herein, we report a solubility method using magnesium oxide nanoparticles of different radii (1.8–105.0 nm, MgO NPs) dissolved in pure water as a targeted model; the surface tension and interfacial tension (and their temperature coefficients) were determined by measuring electrical conductivity and combined with the principle of the electrochemical equilibrium method, and the problem of particle size dependence is discussed. Encouragingly, this method can also be used to determine the ionic (atomic or molecular) radius and Tolman length of nanomaterials. This research results disclose that surface/interfacial tension and their temperature coefficients have a significant relationship with particle size. Surface/interfacial tension decreases rapidly with a radius <10 nm (while the temperature coefficients are opposite), while for a radius >10 nm, the effect is minimal. Especially, it is proven that the value of Tolman length is positive, the effect of particle size on Tolman length is consistent with the surface/interfacial tension, and the Tolman length of the bulk does not change much in the temperature range. This work initiates a new era for reliable determination of surface/interfacial tension, their temperature coefficients, ionic radius, and Tolman length of nanomaterials and provides an important theoretical basis for the development and application of various nanomaterials. Magic-sized nanocrystals (MSNCs) grow via jumps between very specific sizes. This discrete growth is a possible avenue toward monodisperse nanomaterials that are completely identical in size and shape. In spite of this potential, MSNCs have seen limited study and application due to their poor optical properties. Specifically, MSNCs are limited in their range of emission wavelengths and commonly exhibit poor photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs). Here, we report silver doping of CdSe MSNCs as a strategy to improve the optical properties of MSNCs. Silver doping leads to controllable shifts in emission wavelength and significant increases in MSNC PLQYs. These results suggest that doped MSNCs are interesting candidates for displays or luminescent solar concentrators. Finally, we demonstrate that the doping process does not affect the magic size of our MSNCs, allowing further photophysical study of this class of nanomaterial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Gallenene is a novel metallic 2D material that can provide a semiconducting counterpart if patterned into quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) nanostructures, i.e., gallenene nanoribbons (GaNRs). We investigate semiconducting GaNRs as a potential channel material for future ultrascaled field-effect transistors (FETs) by employing quantum transport simulations based on Green's functions and tight-binding Hamiltonians with the orbital resolution calibrated on ab initio calculations. The impact of GaNR width downscaling from ∼6 nm down to ∼0.2 nm on the electronic, transport, and ballistic device properties is investigated for the FET channel length of 15 nm. We report current enhancement and injection velocity overshoot effects for sub-1.2 nm-wide nFETs and pFETs, with a maximum current increase of 53% in the 1.2 nm-wide GaNR pFET in comparison to the widest device. In addition, promising current-driving capabilities of n- and p-channel GaNR FETs are observed with top ballistic currents of more than 2.2 mA/μm and injection velocities of up to 2.4 × 107 cm/s. The reported data are explained by analyzing the evolution of band structure and related parameters such as injection velocity, quantum capacitance, effective transport mass etc., with increasing quantum confinement effects in ultranarrow GaNRs. The intrinsically low electrical conductivity and poor structural fragility of MnO2 have significantly hampered the zinc storage performance. In this work, Ba2+-implanted δ-MnO2 nanosheets have been hydrothermally grown on a carbon cloth (Ba–MnO2@CC) as an extremely stable and efficient cathode material of aqueous zinc-ion batteries. The three-dimensionally porous architecture composed of interwoven thin MnO2 nanosheets effectively shortens the electron/ion transport distances, enlarges the electrode/electrolyte contact area, and increases the active sites for the electrochemical reaction. Meanwhile, Ba2+ could function as an interlayer pillar to stabilize the crystal structure of MnO2. Consequently, the as-optimized Ba–MnO2@CC exhibits remarkable Zn2+ storage capabilities, such as a high capacity (305 mAh g−1 at 0.2 A g−1), prolonged lifespan (95% retention after a 200-cycling test), and superb rate capability. The binder-free cathode is also applicable for flexible energy storage devices with attractive properties. Nanomaterials have excellent adsorption performance due to nano-effect and have been widely used in many fields. The adsorption performance of nanomaterials depends on their adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics. Here, the thermodynamic and kinetic equations of adsorption for spherical nanoparticles are first derived in theory. The mechanisms and regularities of influences of nano-effect on thermodynamics and kinetics, using nano-CdS adsorption of methylene blue as a probe, were investigated. The results show that there are significant influences of nano-effect (i.e., interface area effect and interface tension effect) on the thermodynamics and kinetics of nanoparticle adsorption. When the particle radius is larger and beyond the nanometer scale (∼100 nm), the nano-effect can be neglected. When the radius of the nanoparticle is within 10–50 nm, the nano-effect of adsorption is mainly the interface area effect. When the radius is less than 10 nm, the influences of both the interface area effect and the interface tension effect on adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics become more significant. The theoretic equations and experimental insights in the present work could provide a significant basis and reference for improving and perfecting the adsorption theory involving nanomaterials and provide guidelines for the explanations of adsorption mechanisms as well as the selection of adsorbents. Understanding interparticle interactions has been one of the most important topics of research in the field of micro/nanoscale materials. Many significant characteristics of such materials directly stem from the way their building blocks interact with each other. In this work, we investigate the efficacy of a specific category of Machine Learning (ML) methods known as interaction networks in predicting interparticle interactions within colloidal systems. We introduce and study Local Neighborhood Graph Neural Networks (LN-GNNs), defined according to the local environment of colloidal particles derived from particle trajectory data. The LN-GNN framework is trained for unique categories of particle neighborhood environments in order to predict interparticle interactions. We compare the performance of the LN-GNN to a baseline interaction network with a simpler architecture and to an Instance-Based ML algorithm, which is computationally more expensive. We find that the prediction performance of LN-GNN measured as an average normalized mean absolute error outperforms the baseline interaction network by a factor of 2–10 for different local neighborhood configurations. Furthermore, LN-GNN's performance turns out to be very comparable to the instance-based ML framework while being an order of magnitude less expensive in terms of the required computation time. Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides and semiconductor metal oxides have shown great potential in photocatalysis. However, their stability and efficiency need to be further improved. In this paper, porous ZnO nanorods with high specific surface area were prepared from metal-organic framework ZIF-8 by a simple hydrothermal method. A MoS2/ZnO composite was constructed by loading MoS2 onto the surface of porous ZnO nanorods. Compared with ZnO materials prepared by other methods, MoS2/ZnO prepared in this paper exhibits superior photocatalytic performance. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of the MoS2/ZnO composite can be attributed to the formation of heterojunctions and strong interaction between them, which greatly facilitate the separation of electrons and holes at the contact interface. In addition, due to the wide absorption region of the visible spectrum, MoS2 can greatly broaden the light absorption range of the material after the formation of the composite material, increase the utilization rate of visible light, and reduce the combination of electrons and holes. As the channel lengths of electronic devices are scaled down to the nanometer range, the conventional methods to evaluate charge-carrier mobility approach a technical limit that is imposed by interfering effects of the electrode and forcing field. In this study, we demonstrate that electron spectroscopy provides additional (yet hidden) information on unipolar charge transport, which is free from conventional problems. We demonstrate that the estimated effective diffusion current through the target sample allows the measurement that is precise enough (10−4 cm2/V s) to obtain the mobility of electrons μelectron and holes μhole in nanolength organic channels. Using this method, we show how μelectron and μhole are correlated with the local structural order of poly(3-hexylthiophene) at the nanoscale. This method enables in situ charge-resolved observations of μelectron and μhole by eliminating the need for electrode and forcing field and will help to expand our understanding of charge conduction in nanoscale materials. The study of van der Waals (vdW) materials has seen increased interest in recent years due to the wide range of uses for these materials because of their unique mechanical, electronic, and optical properties. This area has recently expanded further into studying the behavior of vdW nanomaterials as decreasing dimensions open up opportunities to interact with these materials in new ways. However, measuring the band structures of nanomaterials, which is key to understanding how confinement affects material properties and interactions, comes with several challenges. In this review, we survey a range of techniques for synthesizing and characterizing vdW nanomaterials, in order to outline the key material and characterization challenges. This includes controlling the Fermi level in vdW nanoparticles, preparing these particles for either ensemble or individual particle measurement, as well as protecting the pristine surface from oxidation. Nanosheets of transition metal dichalcogenides with prospects of photocatalysis and optoelectronics applications have significant potential in device fabrication due to their low-cost production and easily controllable morphology. Here, non-degenerate pump-probe differential transmission studies with varying pump-fluence have been carried out on single-phase 2H–MoSe2 and mixed-phase 1T/2H–MoSe2 nanosheets to characterize their excited carrier dynamics. For both the samples, the differential probe transmission data show photo-induced bleaching at earlier pump-probe delay followed by photo-induced absorption unveiling signatures of exciton-state filling, exciton trapping, defect-mediated photo-induced probe absorption and recombination of defect bound excitons. The exciton trapping and photo-induced absorption by the trapped-carriers are estimated to occur with time constant of ∼430 to 500 fs based on multi-exponential modelling of the differential transmission till pump-probe delay of ∼3.5 ps. Biexponential modeling of the subsequent slow-recovery of the negative differential transmission at pump-probe delay ≳3.5 ps reveals that the exciton recombination happens via two distinct decay channels with ∼25 to 55 ps (τ1) and ≳1 ns (τ2) time constants. Pump-fluence dependent reduction in τ1 and further modelling of exciton population using higher order kinetic rate equation reveals that the two-body exciton-exciton annihilation governs the exciton recombination initially with a decay rate of ∼ 10 − 8 cm3s−1. The detailed analysis suggests that the fraction of total excitons that decay via long decay channel decreases with increasing exciton density for 2H–MoSe2, in contrast to 1T/2H–MoSe2 where the fraction of excitons decaying via long decay channel remains constant. Pb-based perovskites play pivotal roles in ferroelectric research. In the search for new Pb-based ferroelectrics, we investigated the ferroelectric properties of Dion–Jacobson type CsPb2Nb3O10 and exfoliated 2D nanosheets. Ferroelectricity in CsPb2Nb3O10 was demonstrated for the first time. CsPb2Nb3O10 adopted a polar tetragonal structure with a modest TC = 260 °C and polarization PS = 7.93 μC cm−2; the polarization mainly arose from the out-of-plane displacements of Nb5+ ions and nearby oxygens. CsPb2Nb3O10 layered perovskite offers additional advantages for tailoring ferroelectric nanomaterials, as exfoliated 2D nanosheets provide novel platforms for investigating ferroelectric properties down to the 2D limit. When exposed to an alternating current (AC) electric field, a polarized microparticle is moved by the interaction between the voltage-induced dipoles and the AC electric field under dielectrophoresis (DEP). The DEP force is widely used for manipulation of microparticles in diverse practical applications such as 3D manipulation, sorting, transfer, and separation of various particles such as living cells. In this study, we propose the integration of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), an extremely sensitive and versatile technique based on the Raman scattering of molecules supported by nanostructured materials, with DEP using a microfluidic device. The microfluidic device combines microelectrodes with gold nanohole arrays to characterize the electrophysiological and biochemical properties of biological cells. The movement of particles, which varies depending on the electrical properties such as conductivity and permittivity of particles, can be manipulated by the cross-frequency change. For proof of concept, Raman spectroscopy using the DEP–SERS integration was performed for polystyrene beads and biological cells and resulted in an improved signal-to-noise ratio by determining the direction of the DEP force applied to the cells with respect to the applied AC power and collecting them on the nanohole arrays. The result illustrates the potential of the concept for simultaneously examining the electrical and biochemical properties of diverse chemical and biological microparticles in the microfluidic environment. Neuroprobes that use nanostructured photonic interfaces are capable of multimodal sensing, stimulation, and imaging with unprecedented spatio-temporal resolution. In addition to electrical recording, optogenetic modulation, high-resolution optical imaging, and molecular sensing, these advanced probes combine nanophotonic waveguides, optical transducers, nanostructured electrodes, and biochemical sensors. The potential of this technology lies in unraveling the mysteries of neural coding principles, mapping functional connectivity in complex brain circuits, and developing new therapeutic interventions for neurological disorders. Nevertheless, achieving the full potential of nanostructured photonic neural probes requires overcoming challenges such as ensuring long-term biocompatibility, integrating nanoscale components at high density, and developing robust data-analysis pipelines. In this review, we summarize and discuss the role of photonics in neural probes, trends in electrode diameter for neural interface technologies, nanophotonic technologies using nanostructured materials, advances in nanofabrication photonics interface engineering, and challenges and opportunities. A method to obtain sodium titanate nanoribbons starting from a mixture of brookite and anatase TiO₂ nanopowder is described. As-prepared TiO 2 nanopowder with a major brookite phase was used as a precursor in an alkaline hydrothermal approach, where the temperature was kept at 200 °C. The influence of hydrothermal treatment and consequent annealing temperature (T = 500 °C) on the crystal structure, phase composition, and morphology of samples were investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Raman and FTIR spectroscopy, and electron microscopy techniques (FESEM, HRTEM). All these methods point out that the hydrothermally treated sample, containing the NaTi 3 O 6 (OH)(H 2 O) 2 , Na 2 Ti 3 O 7 , and Na 2 Ti 9 O 19 , is dominated by layer-structured sodium hydroxititanate dihydrate. The annealing leads to the formation of rare sodium titanates, Na 3 Ti 6 O 13 and Na 2 Ti 9 O 19 , with tunnel structures where the hexatitanate with increased sodium content prevails. The photocatalytic activity of synthesized nanostructures was tested in the degradation process of Reactive Orange (RO16) azo-dye upon UV excitation. It appears that photocatalytic activity is lower after hydrothermal treatment, but subsequent annealing makes sodium titanate nanoribbons faster in the degradation of RO16. The research implies that these sodium titanate nanostructures are promising photocatalytic materials and should be considered in the future for removing different pollutants from water. Energy storage technologies play a crucial role in addressing the intermittent characteristics of renewable energy sources, improving the stability of electrical grids, and decreasing the release of greenhouse gas emissions. In this study, we presented nickel indium oxalate (Ni 1-x In x C 2 O 4) as a promising material with potential applications in the field of electrochemical energy storage. The as-prepared Ni-In- oxalate sample was subjected to different physical characterizations, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Regarding the electrochemical energy storage capability, the Ni 1-x In x C 2 O 4 electrode material exhibited a specific capacitance of 835 F g−1 (417.5 C g−1) at 1 A g−1. The incorporation of nickel (Ni) into the indium (In) oxalate nanoplates enhances their electrochemical performance. Global energy crisis imposes immense obstacles leading towards development of innovative devices, and supercapacitors (SCs) are thought to be a viable energy storage technology. The engineering of nanostructured materials with a distinct and consistent morphological design is seen as a better option for various range of electrochemical energy sources. This study reports novel binder-free Ni 3 S 2 /CoS 2 electrode material that acquires higher energy, higher energy density, as well as its simple preparation method, low cost, and earth–abundant resources. The morphological, structural, and textural characteristics resulted in surface area of 46 m2 g−1 of Ni 3 S 2 /CoS 2 that will increase active sites also. The synthesized nanocomposite has particle size of 41.1 nm that leads to enhanced active sites and greater surface area as confirmed through BET analysis. Ni 3 S 2 /CoS 2 nanocomposite has high specific capacity around 828.14 F g−1 at 5 mV s−1 sweep rate using 2 M KOH, a high energy density around 115.01 Wh kg−1, and power density of 1000 Wh kg−1. Ni 3 S 2 /CoS 2 acquires higher ionic conductivity of 5 S m−1, this will enhance the inter-layer transference of electrons, and these results perfectly correlates with EIS, resulting in charge transfer resistance value of 0.9 Ω for nano-composite. The remarkable success of mRNA‐based coronavirus 2019 (COVID‐19) vaccines has propelled the advancement of nanomedicine, specifically in the realm of RNA technology and nanomaterial delivery systems. Notably, significant strides have been made in the development of RNA‐based in vivo chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) therapy. In comparison to the conventional ex vivo CAR therapy, in vivo CAR therapy offers several benefits including simplified preparation, reduced costs, broad applicability and decreased potential for carcinogenic effects. This review summarises the RNA‐based CAR constructs in in vivo CAR therapy, discusses the current applications of in vivo delivery vectors and outlines the immune cells edited with CAR molecules. Supercapacitors' high power density and extended life cycle have drawn a lot of interest in energy storage devices. In this study, different nanostructures of nickel oxide (NiO) and zinc oxide (ZnO) were synthesized using the hydrothermal method by treating the corresponding metal precursors in a high-temperature aqueous solution. The XRD and SEM were used to analyse crystal structure and morphology, respectively. The absorption of ZnO and NiO materials is found to be in the visible range of 300–400 and 200–300 nm, respectively. The band gap of ZnO was calculated as 3.04 eV, while that of NiO was 3.93 eV. The supercapacitor electrode was fabricated on nickel foam with developed nanostructure and carbon materials. The composite ZnO and NiO materials showed an increase in capacitance compared to the bare NiO and ZnO electrodes. This enhancement could be related to improved charge transfer kinetics and increased surface area for electrolyte interaction. Galvanostatic charge–discharge, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements were conducted to assess the electrochemical efficiency of nanomaterials and their composites. At the current density of 2 A g−1, the specific capacitance of the NiO/ZnO composite is found to be 351.54 F g−1, which is ~2 times of the bare NiO and ~3.34 times of bare ZnO. The maximum energy density of ZnO nanoparticles, NiO nanoflakes and the composite are found to be 3.96, 6.58 and 13.90 Wh kg-1, respectively. The charge storage process is the result of diffusion and redox reactions. This paper explores a binary oxide composites method for creating efficient supercapacitor electrode materials. Nickel titanate (NiTiO3) nanostructured materials have gained extensive attention in the field of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) due to their high theoretical capacity and low cost. However, NiTiO3 exhibits low conductivity and significant volume changes during cycling, resulting in capacity decay and poor cycling stability. Herein, we propose a feasible strategy to enhance the cycling performance of NiTiO3 nanostructures by adjusting their morphology. By manipulating the choice of solvent employed in the synthetic process, we obtain NiTiO3 microbars (NTO MBs) through self‐assembly of NiTiO3 nanoparticles (NTO NPs). When utilized as an anode material in LIBs, NTO MBs exhibit a capacity of 410 mAh g−1 after 200 cycles at 100 mA g−1, surpassing that of NTO NPs (212 mAh g−1). The improved performance of NTO MBs is attributed to their unique porous bar‐like structure, composed of numerous NPs, which provides a substantial storage space for Li+ ions owing to its larger specific surface area. Additionally, the porous structure accelerates the diffusion of Li+ ions and electron transfer. To gain a profound understanding of the enhanced performance through morphology adjustment, we conduct a comprehensive investigation on the growth mechanism of NTO MBs. This work provides valuable insights into the mechanism governing the morphology control of NTO MBs, facilitating the rational design and synthesis of tailored materials with enhanced performance for LIBs. Herein, Mo 2 C-Co heterogeneous particles decorated two-dimensional (2D) carbon nanosheets grown on hollow carbon microtubes (CCC@MCC) are synthesized. Three-dimensional (3D) carbon framework with Mo 2 C-Co heterogeneous particles combines the conductivity, adsorption and catalysis, effectively trapping and accelerating the conversion of polysulfides. As evidenced experimentally, the hetero-structured Mo 2 C-Co with high Li+ diffusion coefficient enables uniform precipitation and complete oxidation of Li 2 S. Meanwhile, CCC@MCC is found to have multiple application possibilities for lithium-sulfur batteries. As an interlayer, the cells deliver an excellent capacity of 881.1 mAh/g at 2C and still retain 438.2 mAh/g after 500 cycles under the low temperature of 0 ℃. As a sulfur carrier, the cell with a sulfur loading of 7.0 mg cm−2 exhibits a high area capacity of 5.3 mAh cm−2. Poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) foam is a green and promising candidate to replace traditional oil-based polymer foam in the fields of buffer packaging, sporting goods and biomedicine, because of its admirable toughness, good resilience properties and excellent biodegradability. Herein, a novel methodology using the combination of autoclave foaming and vacuum foaming was reported to prepare chain-extended PBAT (CPBAT)/graphene nanosheets (GNPs) microcellular foams with high volume expansion ratio (VER). Compared with that prepared by single autoclave foaming, PBAT microcellular foams prepared by the combination of autoclave foaming and vacuum foaming possessed a higher VER up to 7.60, which had an increase of 324.58%. GNPs were used for the achievement of the filling modification of PBAT, which increased the cell density and compression properties of PBAT foams. When GNPs content were 2 phr, the compressive strength of CPBAT/GNPs2 foam reached 0.82 MPa. Mitophagy is a selective cellular process critical for the removal of damaged mitochondria. It is essential in regulating mitochondrial number, ensuring mitochondrial functionality, and maintaining cellular equilibrium, ultimately influencing cell destiny. Numerous pathologies, such as neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular disorders, cancers, and various other conditions, are associated with mitochondrial dysfunctions. Thus, a detailed exploration of the regulatory mechanisms of mitophagy is pivotal for enhancing our understanding and for the discovery of novel preventive and therapeutic options for these diseases. Nanomaterials have become integral in biomedicine and various other sectors, offering advanced solutions for medical uses including biological imaging, drug delivery, and disease diagnostics and therapy. Mitophagy is vital in managing the cellular effects elicited by nanomaterials. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the molecular mechanisms underpinning mitophagy, underscoring its significant influence on the biological responses of cells to nanomaterials. Nanoparticles can initiate mitophagy via various pathways, among which the PINK1‐Parkin pathway is critical for cellular defense against nanomaterial‐induced damage by promoting mitophagy. The role of mitophagy in biological effects was induced by nanomaterials, which are associated with alterations in Ca2+ levels, the production of reactive oxygen species, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and lysosomal damage. Mitophagy, a form of selective autophagy that maintains mitochondrial homeostasis and protects cells, is closely associated with the pathogenesis of numerous diseases. Given the widespread use and increasing exposure of nanomaterials to the human body, it is crucial to comprehend their biological effects. Therefore, we conducted a comprehensive review of the regulatory mechanisms of mitophagy and its impact on cellular responses to nanomaterials, in order to provide intervention strategies for diagnosing and treating mitochondria‐related disorders. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), self-assembled by metal ions and organic ligands, have been utilized as active layers in resistive random-access memory (RRAM) devices due to their tunable composition and structure advantages, high porosity, and diverse interactions between guest molecules and host frameworks. As one kind of special MOF, MOF nanosheets not only inherit the benefits of MOFs but also present unique two-dimensional nanoscale thicknesses. Their special properties make them beneficial for fabricating MOF films. Thus, they could be promising materials for RRAM devices. Herein, we synthesized two porphyrin MOF nanosheets and then fabricated MOF films by spin-coating. After that, we used the films for resistive switching (RS) layers in memory devices. The as-fabricated RRAM devices exhibit write-once-read-many-times memory characteristics and good nonvolatile stability. Furthermore, due to the unique luminescence of the porphyrin linker, we investigated the light-induced resistive switching characteristics. The result shows that these porphyrin-based MOF nanosheet films exhibited ternary memory properties. This RS modulation is likely related to the photoinduced electrons and holes forming along channels consisting of porphyrin molecules. In pursuit of diamond nanoparticles, a capacitively-coupled radio frequency flow-through plasma reactor was operated with methane-argon gas mixtures. Signatures of the final product obtained microscopically and spectroscopically indicated that the product was an amorphous form of graphite. This result was consistent irrespective of combinations of the macroscopic reactor settings. To explain the observed synthesis output, measurements of C2 and gas properties were carried out by laser-induced fluorescence and optical emission spectroscopy. Strikingly, the results indicated a strong gas temperature gradient of 100 K per mm from the center of the reactor to the wall. Based on additional plasma imaging, a model of hot constricted region (filamentation region) was then formulated. It illustrated that, while the hot constricted region was present, the bulk of the gas was not hot enough to facilitate diamond sp 3 formation: characterized by much lower reaction rates, when compared to sp 2, sp 3 formation kinetics are expected to become exponentially slow. This result was further confirmed by experiments under identical conditions but with a H2/CH4 mixture, where no output material was detected: if graphitic sp 2 formation was expected as the main output material from the methane feedstock, atomic hydrogen would then be expected to etch it away in situ, such that the net production of that sp 2-hybridized solid material is nearly a zero. Finally, the crucial importance of gas heating was corroborated by replacing RF with microwave source whereby facile sp 3 production was attained with H2/CH4 gas mixture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Constructing structural materials from sustainable raw materials is considered an efficient way to reduce the potential threat posed by plastics. Nevertheless, challenges remain regarding combining excellent mechanical and thermal properties, especially the balance of strength and toughness. Here, we report a 3D nanofiber network interfacial design strategy to strengthen and toughen all‐natural structural materials simultaneously. The introduced protonated chitosan at the interface between the surface oxidized 3D nanonetwork of bacterial cellulose forms the interfacial interlocking structure of nanonetworks, achieving a robust physical connection and providing enough physical contact sites for chemical crosslinking. The obtained sustainable structural material successfully integrates excellent mechanical and thermal properties on the nanoscale of cellulose nanofibers, such as light weight, high strength, and superior thermal expansion coefficient. The relationship between structural design and comprehensive mechanical property improvement is analyzed in detail, providing a universal perspective to design sustainable high‐performance structural materials from nanoscale building blocks. The investigation of a bifunctional self-supporting catalytic electrode holds significant practical importance for the application of overall water splitting. In this paper, a precursor with a large specific surface is constructed by growing ZIF-67 nanosheets on nickel foam. Subsequently, Ni–Co bimetallic phosphide particles (NiCoP) are obtained through phosphating, which distributed in N-doped carbon material and loaded on nickel phosphide (NiCoP@NC-Ni 3 P/NF), facilitating the overall water splitting. Due to its large specific surface area, the double electron regulation of Ni and Co, as well as the synergistic interaction between NiCoP and Ni 3 P, NiCoP@NC-Ni 3 P/NF exhibits excellent hydrogen/oxygen evolution properties, only requiring 125.6/288.4 mV to achieve 20 mA cm−2. Its performance of overall water splitting only requires an applied voltage of 1.54 V to reach 10 mA cm−2. Moreover, the NiCoP particles embedded in the nitrogen-doped carbon can effectively reduce electrolyte corrosion, ensuring exceptional catalyst stability. The exploration of bifunctional electrocatalysts with abundant resources and excellent catalytic performances is currently one of the fundamental conditions for the development and promotion of hydrogen energy technology. In this work, an extremely simple one-step hydrothermal strategy was proposed for the preparation of CoFe-layered double hydroxide nanosheets intercalated with molybdate (CoFe-LDH-MoO 4 2-). The well-designed electrocatalyst exhibits outstanding catalytic activity due to the adjustability of two-dimensional layered materials, synergistic effects of Co and Fe, as well as expanded inter-layer distance, which necessitates overpotential of 74 and 92 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for HER and OER, respectively. When the CoFe-LDH-MoO 4 2- is assembled in a two-electrode system, it requires a cell voltage of 1.50 V to drive 10 mA cm−2. Here, we propose a sub-3 nm small-size PtCo alloy catalyst integrated into a porous nitrogen-doped nanosheet through a space-confined and interfacial induction strategy. The limited improvement in discharge energy density (Ue) of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanocomposites filled with low-dielectric-constant (εr) nanosheets has been addressed by using a superspreading layering strategy. The integration of highly aligned boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) and well-dispersed BaTiO3@PEG (BT@PEG) nanoparticles into the PVDF matrix results in a significant enhancement, increasing Eb and εr by 52% and 64%, respectively, and achieving an Ue of up to 20.12 J cm−3. Cross‐coupling and current sharing are the main problems faced by modular wireless power transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicle (EV) applications. In this study, a decoupled dual‐channel wireless power transfer loosely coupled transformer (LCT) with a hybrid core composed of nanocrystalline and ferrite is proposed for modular WPT systems, as well as WPT systems with specific hybrid topology or detuned compensation. Firstly, the requirements of the LCT for modular parallel dual‐channel WPT system and detuned compensation are discussed. For these requirements, the structure and corresponding optimization design method of the decoupled dual‐channel LCT with a hybrid core is then proposed, and an LCT is designed with this method for the case study. Furthermore, the LCT is analysed by the finite element method (FEM). It is revealed that the mutual inductances of the proposed LCT between transmitting and receiving coils can be symmetrical under misalignment in multiple directions, while the cross‐coupling is eliminated. Finally, the designed LCT is manufactured and verified in a modular parallel dual‐channel WPT system. The development of various nanomaterials production technologies has led to the possibility of producing nanoparticles (NPs) and nanostructures, which can find a wide range of applications, from the fabrication of microelectronic devices to the improvement of material properties and the treatment of cancer. The unique characteristics of nanoparticles are primarily due to their small size, which makes size control important in their preparation. Modification of nanoparticles by laser irradiation and obtaining desired nanoparticle properties is a promising approach because of its ease of implementation. The purpose of this review is to analyze the works devoted to the study of laser-induced heating and melting of nanoparticles, to collect information and evaluate the results of using this method for functionalization and modification of metallic nanoparticles, and to discuss promising directions for the use of this technique. The random motion (the diffusion) of guest molecules in nanoporous host materials is key to their manifold technological applications and, simultaneously, a ubiquitous phenomenon in nature quite in general. Based on a specification of the different conditions under which molecular diffusion in nanoporous materials may occur and of the thus resulting relevant parameters, a survey of the various ways of the measurement of the determining parameters is given. Starting with a condensed introduction to the respective measuring principles, the survey notably includes a summary of the various parameters accessible by each individual technique, jointly with an overview of their strengths and weaknesses as well as of the respective ranges of observation. The presentation is complemented by basic relations of diffusion theory and molecular modeling in nanoporous materials, illustrating their significance for enhancing the informative value of each measuring technique and the added value attainable by their combination. By providing guidelines for the measurement and reporting of diffusion properties of chemical compounds in nanopores, the document aims to contribute to the clarification and standardization of the presentation, nomenclature, and methodology associated with the documentation of diffusion phenomena in nanoporous materials serving for catalytic, mass separation, and other relevant purposes. Carbon dots (CDs), an emerging nanomaterial, have shown significant promise in the materials science. This study aims to electrochemical deposited reduce carbon dots (RCDs) and pectin (PC) scaffold on the pencil graphite electrode (PGE), resulting a multifunctional electrocatalyst support (PC/RCDs/PGE) for electroloading of the nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs) to creates the NiNPs/PC/RCDs/PGE for electrooxidation of ethanol. Comprehensive surface and structural analysis and chemical identification methods were utilized for characterization of the modified electrode. Evaluation as an electrocatalyst for ethanol oxidation in 0.1 M NaOH, demonstrated that the NiNPs/PC/RCDs/PGE shows high electrocatalytic activity (Jp = 112 mA cm−2), outperforming several comparisons modified electrodes, RCDs/PGE, NiNPs/RCDs/PGE, NiNPs/PC/PGE, and NiNPs/PGE. These findings suggest that the RCDs and PC scaffold enhances the electrocatalytic activity of the NiNPs via the increasing the surface area of electrodeposited NiNPs and synergistic effect of nanocomposite components, indicating potential for significant advancements in non-platinum ethanol oxidation electrocatalysts. Recently, gold nanomaterials have been rapidly developed owing to their high stability, good biocompatibility, and multifunctionality. The unique catalytic activity of gold nanomaterials has driven the emergence of the concept for a "gold nanozyme." Understanding the characteristics of gold nanozymes is crucial for improving their catalytic performance as well as expanding their applications. In this review, we provide an overview of the intrinsic enzyme-like activities of gold nanozymes, including peroxidase-, catalase-, superoxide dismutase-, and glucose oxidase-like activities, and the catalytic mechanisms involved. In addition, strategies for modulating the catalytic activity of gold nanozymes and their applications in biosensing were discussed in detail. The discovery of enzyme-like catalytic characteristics in nanomaterials triggers the generation of nanozymes and their multifarious applications. As a class of artificial mimetic enzymes, nanozymes are widely recognized to have better stability and lower cost than natural bio-enzymes, but the lack of catalytic specificity hinders their wider use. To solve the problem, several potential strategies are explored, among which molecular imprinting attracts much attention because of its powerful capacity for creating specific binding cavities as biomimetic receptors. Attractively, introducing molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) onto nanozyme surfaces can make an impact on the latter's catalytic activity. As a result, in recent years, MIPs featuring universal fabrication, low cost, and good stability have been intensively integrated with nanozymes for biochemical detection. In this critical review, we first summarize the general fabrication of nanozyme@MIPs, followed by clarifying the potential effects of molecular imprinting on the catalytic performance of nanozymes in terms of selectivity and activity. Typical examples are emphatically discussed to highlight the latest progress of nanozyme@MIPs applied in catalytic analysis. In the end, personal viewpoints on the future directions of nanozyme@MIPs are presented, to provide a reference for studying the interactions between MIPs and nanozymes and attract more efforts to advance this promising area. Template residues during the preparation of hydroxyapatite (HA) microspheres with hollow structures limit their biological applications to some extent. In this study, the nanosheet-assembled porous-wall hollow HA microspheres were successfully synthesized by a template-free hydrothermal method. SEM and TEM observations revealed that the prepared hollow HA microspheres were about 3–7 μm in diameter and were composed of an interior cavity and a porous shell assembled by nanosheets (consisting of radial nanorods arranged side-by-side). A possible mechanism for the formation of the hollow HA microspheres was proposed based on the time-gradient experiments. Furthermore, the hollow HA microspheres exhibited excellent vancomycin loading capacity (101.3 mg/g) and pH-responsive release properties. Cellulose is widely distributed in higher plants and constitutes the most abundant natural biopolymer on Earth. Nanocellulose is a cellulose material with nanoscale dimensions, obtained through special processing and treatment. Up to now, nanocellulose has been widely investigated as a biosorbent to absorb various types of pollutants in wastewater due to its excellent properties, such as large specific surface area, antifouling behaviour, high aspect ratio, high heat resistance, excellent mechanical properties, biodegradability and biocompatibility. In addition, nanocellulose can be rationally structured by different recombination techniques such as membranes, sponges, aerogels, hydrogels and microspheres and provide specialised functionality for the adsorption of various types of pollutants from wastewater. This review introduces the basic properties, classification and modification methods of nanocellulose; discusses the preparation strategies of nanocellulose-based recombinant materials (including vacuum/pressurised filtration, sol–gel and electrospinning); reviews research progress in the adsorption of organic dyes and heavy metal Cr, as well as the separation of oil/water using nanocellulose-based recombinant materials; and explores the potential of nanocellulose in treating tannery wastewater. The numerous grainboundaries solid electrolyte interface, whether naturally occurring or artificially designed, leads to non-uniform Li metal deposition and consequently results in poor full-battery performance. Herein, a lithium-ion selective transport layer is reported to achieve a highly efficient and dendrite-free lithium metal anode. The layer-by-layer assembled protonated carbon nitride nanosheets present uniform macroscopical structure without grainboundaries. The carbon nitride with ordered pores in basal plane provides high-speed lithium-ion transport channels with low tortuosity. Consequently, the assembled 324 Wh kg−1 pouch cell exhibits 300 stable cycles with a capacity retention of 90.0% and an average Coulombic efficiency up to 99.7%. The ultra-dense Li metal anode makes current collector-free anode possible, achieving high energy density and long cycle life of a 7 Ah cell (506 Wh kg−1, 160 cycles). Thus, it is proved that a macroscopically uniform interface layer with lithium-ion conductive channels could achieve Li metal battery with promising application potential. A fascinating aspect of nanoscale ferroelectric materials is the emergence of topological polar textures, which include various complex and stable polarization configurations. The manipulation of such topological textures through external stimuli like electric fields holds promise for advanced nanoelectronics applications. There are, however, several challenges to reach potential applications, among which reliably creating and controlling these textures at the nanoscale on silicon, and with lead-free compounds. We report the realization of epitaxial BaTiO3 nanoislands on silicon, with a lateral size as small as 30-60 nm, and demonstrate stable center down-convergent polarization domains that can be reversibly switched by an electric field to center up-divergent domains. Piezoresponse force microscopy data reconstruction and phase field modeling give insight into the 3D patterns. The trapezoidal-shape nanoislands give rise to center down-convergent lateral swirling polarization component with respect to the nanoisland axis, which prevents the formation of bound charges on the side walls, therefore minimizing depolarization fields. The texture resembles a swirling vortex of liquid flowing into a narrowing funnel. Chirality emerges from the whirling polarization configurations. The ability to create and electrically manipulate chiral whirling polar textures in BaTiO3 nanostructures grown monolithically on silicon holds promise for applications in future topological nanoelectronics. Epitaxial BaTiO3 ultra scaled nanoislands (30−60 nm) on Si exhibit an electrically switchable topological center down-convergent polar pattern. The intricate hydrogen-bonded network of water gives rise to various structures with anomalous properties at different thermodynamic conditions. Nanoconfinement can further modify the water structure and properties, and induce specific water motifs, which are instrumental for technological applications such as atmospheric water harvesting. However, so far, a causal relationship between nanoconfinement and the presence of specific hydrophilic adsorption sites is lacking, hampering the further design of nanostructured materials for water templating. Therefore, this work investigates the organisation of water in zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with varying topologies, pore sizes, and chemical composition, to extract design rules to shape water. The highly tuneable pores and hydrophilicity of MOFs makes them ideally suited for this purpose. We find that small nanopores favour orderly water clusters that nucleate at hydrophilic adsorption sites. Favourably positioning the secondary adsorption sites, hydrogen-bonded to the primary adsorption sites, allows larger clusters to form at moderate adsorption conditions. To disentangle the importance of nanoconfinement and hydrophilic nucleation sites in this process, we introduce an analytical model with precise control of the adsorption sites. This sheds a new light on design parameters to induce specific water clusters and hydrogen-bonded networks, thus rationalising the application space of water in nanoconfinement. The presence of water adsorption sites plays a pivotal role in the suitability of metal-organic frameworks for atmospheric water harvesting. The rise of rational strategies in nanomedicine development, such as high-throughput methods and computer-aided techniques, has led to a shift in the design and discovery patterns of nanomedicines from a trial-and-error mode to a rational mode. This transition facilitates the enhancement of efficiency in the preclinical discovery pipeline of nanomaterials, particularly in improving the hit rate of nanomaterials and the optimization efficiency of promising candidates. Herein, we describe a directed evolution mode of nanomedicines driven by data to accelerate the discovery of nanomaterials with high delivery efficiency. Computer-aided design strategies are introduced in detail as one of the cutting-edge directions for the development of nanomedicines. Ultimately, we look forward to expanding the tools for the rational design and discovery of nanomaterials using multidisciplinary approaches. Rational design strategies may potentially boost the delivery efficiency of next-generation nanomedicines.
