The study employs principal-agent theory to analyze the dynamic between the governing political party (KMT) and the university library (NCCU), proposing a conceptual framework that delineates the roles, responsibilities, and relationships of the involved stakeholders. This paper examines how privacy measures, such as anonymisation and aggregation processes for email collections, can affect the perceived usefulness of email visualisations for research, especially in the humanities and social sciences. The work is intended to inform archivists and data managers who are faced with the challenge of accessioning and reviewing increasingly sizeable and complex personal digital collections. The research in this paper provides a focused user study to investigate the usefulness of data visualisation as a mediator between privacy-aware management of data and maximisation of research value of data. The research is carried out with researchers and archivists with vested interest in using, making sense of, and/or archiving the data to derive meaningful results. Participants tend to perceive email visualisations as useful, with an average rating of 4.281 (out of 7) for all the visualisations in the study, with above average ratings for mountain graphs and word trees. The study shows that while participants voice a strong desire for information identifying individuals in email data, they perceive visualisations as almost equally useful for their research and/or work when aggregation is employed in addition to anonymisation. Provenance, as the foundational principle of archival studies, dictates that records with the same creator should be organized separately from those of a different creator. This idea of provenance, however, fails to consider different epistemologies of origin. Using an ethnographic study of the Palestinian diaspora in Southeast Michigan, this paper interrogates provenance through Palestinian epistemology and Palestinian futurism to theorize a transformative provenance that positions archival origins as both spatially and temporally unfixed. Rather than rejecting provenance, the concept is a useful departure point to consider how Western understandings of origin and custody can be broadened by other ways of knowing. In this article, I track the origins and custody of memories and stories, the main medium of records in this community, to highlight the culturally specific epistemologies involved in their preservation. I then propose a transformative provenance based on three qualities. First, intergenerational: Chain of custody belongs to both the past and the present, as stories belong to the time of a grandparent's past exile and a grandchild's present diaspora. Second, collective: With the spatial referent of memories being lost, ownership is shared within village kinship networks. Third, imaginative: Origins of memories exist in the past, present, and the future, as those in diaspora use memories to imagine future liberation. By grounding this analysis of Palestinian memory work within the community's conceptualizations of knowledge organization, this paper contributes to current discourse around decolonial recordkeeping, non-Western epistemology, and the management of diaspora archives. Emails are an essential medium of communication. Their management is an organizational, security, legal and financial issue for all organizations. The interdepartmental digital archiving Vitam Programme, which develops a digital archives management system on behalf of the French government, could not help but wonder about the acquisition, preservation and access to the documents and data contained in email archives. In 2013, it carried out a proof of concept on email archiving, at a time when few archive services in France had embarked on the acquisition of this type of document. Ten years later, the French landscape in terms of digital recordkeeping has changed significantly. In practice, some archives have put in place strategies for archiving email, and tools have been made available to assist in their effort. Feasible, smooth, and time-jerk optimal trajectory is essential for manipulators utilized in manufacturing process. A novel technique to generate trajectories in the joint space for robotic manipulators based on quintic B-spline and constrained multi-objective student psychology based optimization (CMOSPBO) is proposed in this paper. In order to obtain the optimal trajectories, two objective functions including the total travelling time and the integral of the squared jerk along the whole trajectories are considered. The whole trajectories are interpolated by quintic B-spline and then optimized by CMOSPBO, while taking into account kinematic constraints of velocity, acceleration, and jerk. CMOSPBO mainly includes improved student psychology based optimization, archive management, and an adaptive ε-constraint handling method. Lévy flights and differential mutation are adopted to enhance the global exploration capacity of the improved SPBO. The ε value is varied with iterations and feasible solutions to prevent the premature convergence of CMOSPBO. Solution density estimation corresponding to the solution distribution in decision space and objective space is proposed to increase the diversity of solutions. The experimental results show that CMOSPBO outperforms than SQP, and NSGA-II in terms of the motion efficiency and jerk. The comparison results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method to generate time-jerk optimal and jerk-continuous trajectories for manipulators. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Community Firearm Violence Prevention Network (CFVP Network), funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), supports a network of research projects that develop and test interventions through collaborations with community partners to prevent firearm violence, injury, and mortality. The CFVP Network presents a unique opportunity to accelerate the science of preventing firearm injuries. The data harmonization workgroup of the CFVP Network led the process of aligning studies across the three unique inaugural network projects, with particular attention to how the CFVP Network could address current gaps in the science. The goal of the data harmonization workgroup was to align study measures, assessment timelines, and data management and archival processes across projects to enable robust cross-project analyses that accelerate the science of preventing firearm injuries. To accomplish this goal, the workgroup established the infrastructure to facilitate cross-project data collection, data sharing and archiving, and analyses. Among the three inaugural network projects, the workgroup's process resulted in harmonizing two assessment timepoints (baseline and one year post-implementation) and 60 constructs (with 31 identical standardized constructs). These harmonized products provide opportunities for novel analyses across the network projects. We expect that the harmonized study infrastructure developed through this process will catalyze future research focused on preventing firearm injury, including and extending beyond CFVP Network projects. In order to evaluate the productivity of a subject field like the library and information science, a bibliometric analysis was carried out, using the African Journal of Library, Archives and Information Science (AJLAIS.) as a source journal, with a view to determining the characteristics and trends of the journal. Publications produced between 1991 and 2024 in the journal were analysed in terms of quantity of articles, degree of collaboration, statuses, institutional affiliations and geographical locations, subject coverage and degree of collaboration among authors. A publication count of all the papers produced during the period was made and an analysis was carried out. The study shows that during the period, 557 publications were produced and they consist of 526 scholarly publications and 31 book reviews. Eight hundred and fifty-four authors produced the 526 scholarly publications in the source journal. Most of the authors were of the professorial status (21.9%). The study revealed that the degree of collaboration among authors in the library and information science field was 0.61. Authors from the University of Botswana and the University of Ibadan were the highest contributors of papers in AJLAIS. The geographical locations of most of the authors were in Nigeria (42%) and South Africa (21.3%). Authors of papers came from 29 countries including 12 countries outside Africa. The major subject areas covered in the journal were information and communications technologies, archives and records management, bibliometrics, publishing, etc. Some subject gaps identified in the journal were artificial intelligence, infopreneurship and Resource Description and Access (RDA). The recommendations of the study included the provision of generous research grants to academic institutions in order to promote research in the different academic institutions. Digital preservation is widely recognized as a critical necessity for organizations worldwide. Archival professionals consider it a pressing issue, recognizing its central role in contemporary information management practices. This study aims to illuminate the challenges and opportunities in this field, specifically focusing on the accessibility and preservation of institutional archives in the Sultanate of Oman. Utilizing a mixed-methods research design, it includes an extensive review of relevant literature and semi-structured interviews with administrative personnel from various public organizations in Oman. A purposive sampling strategy was employed to select 10 individuals, each possessing the required expertise and experience in this field, from different government agencies to participate in these interviews. The findings indicate that professionals in Omani institutions highly value digital preservation, citing reasons such as enhanced document accessibility, improved organizational efficiency and security, and compliance with national archival regulations. Despite this, the methods used for digital preservation vary across institutions. The study identifies several obstacles, including threats to digital security, the complexity of managing vast amounts of data, the rapid outdatedness of technology, and challenges related to human resource management. The decline in appreciation for local cultural values among the younger generation is concerning, particularly due to the lack of authentic sources that detail the origins of the surrounding culture. This study aims to identify and evaluate the management process of static archives at the Cirebon Regency Culture and Tourism Office and assess its effectiveness in preserving local culture. Utilizing a qualitative approach grounded in static archive theory, the research focuses on seven key dimensions of archive management, including appraisal, maintenance, labeling, description, services, reference retrieval, and the provision of research space. The findings reveal that archive management in Cirebon has been effective through a system that involves community collaboration, which plays a crucial role in preserving culturally valuable archives. In conclusion, effective static archive management can enhance the appreciation of local culture among the younger generation, with community participation being a key factor in its success. This paper is an excerpt from academic research in progress at master's level and aims to identify the main approaches to the archivist as an information user in the scientific production of Information Science. It discusses the relevance of the subject, focusing on the archivist as a user who accesses and uses information in the development of their work activities. It is characterized as bibliographical research, exploratory in nature and with a quantitative approach. The bibliographic research was conducted in the Information Science Database (BRAPCI), the Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) and the CAPES Journal Portal, considering publications from 2018 to 2022. The results point to the scarcity of studies dealing with the archivist from this perspective, although topics such as interaction with information systems and information needs are growing, the term "user archivist" was the one with the fewest returns in the search. The conclusion is that there is a need to develop research that considers archivists not just as information mediators, but as information users, which means that their information needs can be exposed so that strategies can be devised to meet them, helping to improve professional practices and information management in the archival context. The current situation in Dutch museum archives is heavily influenced by developments in the museum sector in recent decades. The privatization of Dutch museums in the 1990s and the subsequent variations in legal character among these institutions has resulted in inconsistent management structures and inexplicit legal obligations, which have slowed the development of a cohesive approach to the management of museum archives in the Netherlands. Research conducted by Roosmarijn Ubink into the current state of information and archive management in the Dutch museum sector has revealed a structural lack of resources and frameworks for the management of museums' institutional archives. In this explorative and collectively written paper, researchers and archivists from the research project Children's cultural heritage — the visual voices of the archive ponder, wrestle with, confront, and dig deeper into what it means to preserve and include children's own voices in archives. The authors acknowledge that child-produced cultural objects are historical landmarks and significant parts of national heritage. The article raises questions about where and how the 'doing' of what is here called children's cultural heritage takes place, what it means to archive from children's perspectives, and what aspects of children are saved during these preservation and archival management processes. To collect, preserve and provide access to heritage might empower and affirm individuals and subordinated groups of people who have not been seen or heard in the historical past, in the present, or in future pasts. Children, as a category, is one such subordinated group in heritage contexts. Adults therefore have a responsibility to empower children by strengthening their position towards other social groups, towards society and the heritage domain. Recent developments in the knowledge economy impact on the archival profession globally. Key components of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), such as blockchain technology and artificial intelligence are influencing the manner and context in which digital records in organisations are managed. This has necessitated the University of South Africa, a comprehensive open distance e-learning institution (CODeL), through the Department of Information Science, to evaluate and recurriculate its postgraduate programme in archives and records management. The key aim of this recurriculation was to ensure alignment with international trends and practices in digital records management practices. The revised programme offers graduates an opportunity to keep abreast with various technological and digital records discipline-related developments with reference to knowledge and information governance, data curatorship and management, as well as archival diplomatics and digital records forensics. This qualitative study used literature review, as well as personal experiences to explore the revision of an archives and records management curriculum in a CODeL environment to make it relevant to technological transformations unique to the 4IR. In our analysis, we recommend the inclusion of computational archival science in the responsive curriculum, to enable graduates to acquire skills in the application of technological tools, methods and resources pertaining to digital records processing, analysis, storage, long-term preservation, and access. The focus of the recurriculation was to improve the efficiency, productivity, and precision in support of appraisal, arrangement and description, preservation, and access towards enhanced digital records management practices. The time and resources required to prepare archival collections for use by researchers is a source of constant frustration in archives and libraries. Almost always, aspirations and collections exceed limited resources. The last fifteen to twenty years have seen archivists and librarians putting great effort into increasing standardization and efficiency. However, there are few examples of applying techniques from other fields that are proven to increase productivity. This dual case study shows that applying Lean techniques, which were originally developed for automobile manufacturing, yields significant results: measurable reductions in processing time and resource use; increased adherence to standards; increased engagement in and willingness to change by staff; effective coordination across departments; and increased ability to meet the needs of stakeholders. The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) heralded a dreadful global disaster that had a collateral effect on many businesses. It affected people, information, and global economies. However, its impact on public records and archives management is under-researched in Africa, particularly in The Gambia. Hence, the purpose of this study was to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on public records and archives management in The Gambia. Adopted for the survey is pragmatic research paradigm, which employs mixed methods using a purposive sample of 65, constituting 31% of a population of 211, comprising heads of Public Records and Archives staff and National Records Advisory Committee members. The ISO 31000:2018 Risk Assessment tool was employed as the theoretical framework. A questionnaire and telephone-based interview were administered to collect data. Quantitative data was analysed descriptively using IBM Statistical Packages for Social Science (IBM SPSS), while qualitative data was analysed based on the study objectives. The research shows that a significant minority confirmed information leakage during the COVID-19 pandemic, primarily through social media, phone, and email. Most records and archives are in physical format, as established by 59.1% of respondents. The records sector responded poorly due to inadequate capacity, emergency policies, and interventions. Most respondents claimed a lack a disaster plan, with 67.7% of respondents finding it ineffective in mitigating COVID-19's impact on records and archives, and 82.4% confirming inadequate documentation during the pandemic. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has moderately impacted Public Records and Archives Management in The Gambia, with staff being protected more than information, the effect severely affected archival services. This article discusses the potential application of the total archives theory in the context of building collective memory and cultural identity at the Archives Management Unit (UPT Kearsipan) of Lampung University. The preservation and management of archives play a crucial role in preserving the history and culture of an educational institution, especially a university. This research aims to identify the challenges and opportunities faced by the Archives Management Unit of Lampung University in an effort to build collective memory and campus cultural identity. By applying the total archives theory approach, this study seeks ways to enhance a more holistic archive management approach involving all stakeholders and maximizing the use of technology in the process. The research methodology involves document analysis, interviews with UPT Kearsipan staff, and surveys of archive users. The results of the research indicate that the application of the total archives theory holds great potential in building collective memory and cultural identity at Lampung University. This investigation analyzes the volunteer management programmes of two British archival institutions against best practice, taking into consideration the perspectives of both volunteer managers and the volunteers themselves. Results show that, in both cases, despite the variety of measures adopted to attract volunteers, word of mouth and individual initiative are the most effective. Volunteer training and supervision are consolidated and positively received by all volunteers, while more resources should be invested in team incorporation. Overall, it was found that the institutions plan and act according to what they know motivates their volunteers, which proves to be successful considering that most volunteers have been with each organization for over one year. It can be concluded that by following best practice the institutions are equipped with thoroughly planned volunteer management programmes, created and adapted according to the institutions' goals and resources, and their volunteers' motivations, expectations, and interests. Purpose: This paper aims to examine the concept of standardization beyond its traditional use in generating and implementing standards and good practice guidelines (S&GPG) by looking at existing and emerging trends. Design/methodology/approach: This paper utilizes two primary approaches to categorizing S&GPG for better comprehension: categorization based on provenance as well as based on subject matter. Findings: A significant concern related to categorizing S&GPG based on provenance or subject is the constant proliferation of standards being developed and introduced every year. This rapid growth in standards requires frequent re-categorization to keep up with the dynamic nature of this field. To tackle this problem, this paper explores emerging concepts such as ontological representation and frameworks that offer archives and records management (ARM) professionals. Practical implications: Standardization refers to establishing uniform rules through mutual agreement to ensure consistency. The study of standardization goes beyond the development of individual S&GPG, encompassing their practical application in work settings. Categorizing standards alone may not fully capture their actual use. However, abstraction mechanisms like ontological representations, models and frameworks can demonstrate how these standards have been leveraged. This paper provides illustrative examples rather than an exhaustive list to showcase how these mechanisms have been applied in research projects or as practical tools. Originality/value: This paper explores the emerging topic of standardization from the perspective of ontological representations and models or frameworks. In addition, it also contributes to the discussion of the 2022 version of ARMA International's Information Governance Implementation Model and the 2020 version of the World Bank Group's Records Management Roadmap, providing unique insights into these topics. Historical context significantly shapes archives management practices and archival education within a country. This article aims to examine how Thailand’s recordkeeping traditions, both pre-modern and during the era of Western imperialism, have evolved to influence the current state of archives management and archival education in the country. By comparing the Thai context to other countries, it is found that Thailand’s status as a noncolonized nation has led to relatively fragmented recordkeeping knowledge and practices. The article discusses the Virginia Untold project, which provides digital access to historical records documenting the lives of enslaved and free Black individuals in Virginia from the 17th century to emancipation and beyond. Student archives are records of students' learning activities during school and important proof of students' learning experiences, so the construction of a credible digital archives system is of great significance. Blockchain is a data structure and information storage technology that has become well-known with the development of Bitcoin and is currently widely used to build a trusted digital environment. The use of blockchain technology can solve the problems of low confidentiality and easy tampering of traditional archives management. Therefore, this paper proposes a blockchain-based student archives management scheme, designs the key data structures and algorithms of the system model, and tests the functions and performance of the system model on the ESXi platform. Experimental results show that the scheme proposed in this paper can effectively improve the confidentiality and difficulty of archive tampering, and at the same time have good resource sharing and retrieval efficiency, making archives management safer, more credible and more intelligent. The professionalisation of any given field is at the heart of establishing the records and archives management profession as well as making it visible and respected in the work space. Current trends in technology dictate how archives and records management fraternity should take action to remain relevant in the industry. The mode of operation illustrates that current business strategies intend to go fully online without any physical records to be managed. This qualitative study relied on literature review to explore a framework to infuse data science into the archives and records management curriculum in South Africa. The data under the smart city spatio-temporal big data platform is very diverse, and there are many modern spatial and spatial databases in the archives management system related to natural resources. Big data can effectively improve the quality and classification of natural resource archives management (referred to as NRAM for convenience of description). However, the traditional NRAM method and informatization level can no longer meet the needs of the current NRAM, so people must continue to make efforts to digitize the natural resource archives. To this end, this paper analyzed the characteristics and problems of NRAM and then used the big data platform to make corresponding management adjustments to promote the development of NRAM. Under big data, the degree of management improvement and management efficiency were better than the original NRAM, and the degree of management improvement was 14% higher than the original NRAM. Purpose: This study aims to investigate the users' perception on the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) for the management of records at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in South Africa. User perception plays a crucial role in the utilisation of AI for the management of records at the CSIR. It is important to know the views of the users, especially how they think AI can be used for effective and efficient management of records. Design/methodology/approach: The convergent mixed methods research was applied, and data was collected using interviews and questionnaires. Data was analysed thematically and statistically and presented using tables and figures. Findings: This study reveals that the users were not aware of the application of AI for the management of records until the workshops, which were facilitated by the researcher. The users are of the view that AI can be used to provide efficient storage of records, quick retrieval of records and adequate security. This study further reveals that the CSIR is not yet ready to use AI for the management of records because of the lack of knowledge and resources to implement AI. Originality/value: This study also proposes a framework regarding the users' perception on the utilisation of AI for the management of records at the CSIR. The monastic archives of Iceland have rarely been made the subject of specific studies. This article is intended to survey the history of one such archive, belonging to the Benedictine Abbey of Þingeyrar in Northern Iceland, which was founded 1133 and dissolved 1551. Through its extraordinarily rich literary production this monastery left an indelible mark on the Northern-European cultural heritage. After the Reformation Þingeyrar Cloister remained a state-owned and ecclesiastical institution until modern times. Its archive, which is partly preserved to this day, is both the most extensive of its kind to survive in Iceland and uniquely remained in place for almost eight centuries, making it possibly the longest operated archive in the Nordic countries. The Icelanders may be better known for their sagas and mythological poetry, but their industrious literacy certainly extended to creating bureaucratic documents in accordance with the Roman tradition. French Benedictines were among the first in the world to turn the art of archival management into an academic discipline, and the Icelandic Professor Árni Magnússon (d. 1730), who is best known for his great collection of Old Icelandic manuscripts, was the first Nordic scholar to employ their methods effectively, which he used to investigate the Archive of Þingeyrar. With the rapid development of higher education in China, more and more archives are managed by the archives of colleges and universities. Therefore, many colleges and universities have equipped archives management software to manage archives by computer. However, at present, the mainstream archives management software for colleges and universities does not have the function of automatic classification of archives. In order to reduce the workload of college archives staff, this paper explores a text automatic classification method suitable for college archives. Classification tree algorithm is a method of organizing and storing information. The classification tree is used to classify data into various categories, such as customers and products. It also provides an effective way to search for data using keywords or phrases. Classification tree is very useful in document processing, because it can help us find documents with similar characteristics, such as customers with similar requirements, products with similar functions, etc. The working principle of classification tree algorithm is to decompose the problem into smaller subproblems, and then solve one subproblem at a time until all problems are completely solved. With the continuous development of archive information network, it has become an important means to obtain archive information resources based on network means. At the same time, the number of users of network archives is increasing rapidly. As the main body of archive utilization, archive users play a leading role in the content and direction of archive management and utilization. The informatization of archive management is not equivalent to computerization or networking, but a systematic project related to the whole educational reform and modernization. As the modern archive management has become a complex system, there are also multi-level division methods. The first level is divided into two subsystems: archive entity management and archive information development, and each subsystem is further divided into several levels of small systems. Archive entity management is divided into collection, sorting, identification, storage, statistics, and other work links. The whole file management system and its subsystems form feedback mechanism in operation. Based on the multimedia soft computing and edge-driven multimodal system, this paper constructs the digital personalized healthcare web archive collection and storage model. The designed system is implemented through the C + + and various simulation scenarios have been considered. The comparison simulation is conducted to show the performance of the system. With increasing demand for efficient archive management, robots have been employed in paper-based archive management for large, unmanned archives. However, the reliability requirements of such systems are high due to their unmanned nature. To address this, this study proposes a paper archive access system with adaptive recognition for handling complex archive box access scenarios. The system comprises a vision component that employs the YOLOV5 algorithm to identify feature regions, sort and filter data, and to estimate the target center position, as well as a servo control component. This study proposes a servo-controlled robotic arm system with adaptive recognition for efficient paper-based archive management in unmanned archives. The vision part of the system employs the YOLOV5 algorithm to identify feature regions and to estimate the target center position, while the servo control part uses closed-loop control to adjust posture. The proposed feature region-based sorting and matching algorithm enhances accuracy and reduces the probability of shaking by 1.27% in restricted viewing scenarios. The system is a reliable and cost-effective solution for paper archive access in complex scenarios, and the integration of the proposed system with a lifting device enables the effective storage and retrieval of archive boxes of varying heights. However, further research is necessary to evaluate its scalability and generalizability. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive box access system for unmanned archival storage. The system exhibits a higher storage success rate than existing commercial archival management robotic systems. The integration of the proposed system with a lifting device provides a promising solution for efficient archive management in unmanned archival storage. The article consists of two parts. The first covers the history of opera and ballet from its inception in Ljubljana after 1600 to the present. The opera and ballet arts in Ljubljana are still housed in the structure that was constructed in 1892. Since then, with the exception of the period of the First World War, opera and ballet performances in the Slovenian language have been held continuously in Ljubljana. The second part presents the current mission of the public institution, the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, its activities and organisational structure, as well as the management of records and archives based on the classification plan adopted in 2021. This paper presents how the author, in their capacity as an embedded archives and records management researcher as part of the Tate research project Reshaping the Collectible: When Artworks Live in the Museum, navigated the loss of all of the institutional records related to the commissioning and programming of 15 internet artworks. Beginning their case study in an informational deficit meant the author and research colleagues had to refocus their intentions and expectations. On discovering a limited body of literature in the archival and records management sector, the author reflects on developing a methodology for reconstituting and rebuilding lost institutional records and testing how this could be embedded into Tate's existing recordkeeping and archival practices. Archiving in traditional villages has been carried out for nearly 20 years in China. The conventional practice is to establish registration records for the basic information and cultural heritage of traditional villages combined with collecting historical records. This research develops a digital archival model to strengthen traditional village conservation. The theoretical framework of this model arises from a case study of Gaoqian, a typical traditional Chinese village with 1000 years of history. Through field investigation and document analysis, Gaoqian's experience is summarized into a paradigm of traditional village digital archival conservation. There are three modules in this paradigm: a digital archival resource system, a digital archival management system, and a digital archival service system adhering to the culture-centred principle. This model transforms the initial cultural resources to digital archival resources and then to digital cultural products through strict life-cycle management. The whole working process needs the cooperation and participation of multiple subjects. The case of Gaoqian demonstrates that traditional village digital archival conservation is simultaneously universal and scene-oriented, which can provide replicable solutions for traditional villages or rural landscape conservation in other regions during ongoing world urbanization, with the appropriate archival perspective and methods. On January 1,2021, the newly revised Archives Law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the new Archives Law) was officially implemented, providing legal protection for archive management, archive work and archive undertaking in the new era. Starting from the relevant provisions of the new Archives Law, the collection of precious meteorological archives was discussed, and it is believed that only on the basis of clarifying the definition, collection responsibility subject, collection scope, ways and methods of precious meteorological archives can the relevant units be convenient to practice and obtain substantive collection effect. Purpose: Social media posts have been an integral part of our society's communication and serve purposes from the personal to the national, from the mundane to the silly to the momentous. This study aims to examine social media posts as records, discussing how social media technology serves, perhaps unexpectedly, to reinforce traditional archival understandings of issues such as provenance, custody, access, disposition and preservation. Design/methodology/approach: This study follows a four-step methodology. First, this study analyzes literature for a matching definition of the social media record. In the second step, we appraise three social media postings previously curated and cited in news articles by journalists to determine their characteristics – Are these social media posts "records?" Third, this study evaluates the sample records against two dominant theoretical record models, the life cycle and the continuum and attempt to apply the model specifications to the data samples. Finally, this study proposes appropriate records management solutions to address governance issues from the study findings in the conclusion section. Findings: This study shows that, even by the most traditional of definitions, social media posts are records. The paper also demonstrates that platform mediation transforms simple narrative documents into records whose provenance, custody and control are dictated by platform logics and governance, outside of the control of their creators. Through appraisal of a small sample of "important" social media posts, this study illustrates that, rather than obsolete, traditional records management concepts and approaches are necessary to ensuring the ongoing accessibility, usability and evidentiary character of social media posts in the broader "platformized" context. Research limitations/implications: This is exploratory, theoretical work. In future works, this study plans to expand and validate aspects of this study. Originality/value: This paper tests existing theoretical frameworks, namely, the Records Life cycle and the Records Continuum for applicability to the social media record. The paper also offers a view of the potential for traditional archival and records management concepts in service of a just and inclusive recordkeeping, because such concepts allow us to demonstrate the centralized, elite-serving, bureaucratic structures which underpin social media records are obscured by the seemingly decentralized, participatory nature of social media. Purpose: This study aims to investigate how a policy framework can be applied in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the management of records at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in South Africa. A policy and legal framework enables the records divisions to protect, administer and make their records available in a safe and professional way. Policies play a crucial role in ensuring that records are properly managed. Design/methodology/approach: Convergent mixed-methods research was conducted, and data were collected using interviews and questionnaires. Data were analysed thematically and statistically and presented in tables and figures. Findings: The study reveals that the policy framework should also include the application of AI for the management of records. Therefore, this study further concludes that the CSIR should review their policy framework to ensure the application of AI for the management of records is accommodated. Originality/value: The study proposed a framework to guide the application of the policy framework in using AI for the management of records at CSIR. It is hoped that the proposed framework will serve as a guideline for the implementation of a policy framework in the utilisation of AI in the archives and records management sector.
