Competent teachers are attributed to student performance, school effectiveness, and the efficiency of an entire education system. Hence, this study compares the respondents' teaching proficiency across their profiles and correlates to their academic performance. The study utilized 30 pre-service secondary teachers of Eastern Samar State University Salcedo selected by complete enumeration, a descriptive comparative and correlational research design, and a questionnaire. Frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were applied for descriptive analysis; t-test for comparison of respondents' teaching proficiency; and Pearson's correlation coefficient for the relationship between academic performance and teaching proficiency. The study revealed that respondents had a proficient teaching proficiency. Specifically, they were proficient in subject matter knowledge, lesson planning, classroom management, instructional strategies and motivation, communication skills, questioning skills, and professionalism. They have a very good academic performance in both professional education and major field of specialization. Furthermore, the study found no significant difference in the teaching proficiency across the respondents' sex and age. However, a significant relationship was found between academic performance and teaching proficiency. Based on the findings, it is recommended that remedial classes on contents, pedagogies, and principles be provided especially for those respondents with low academic performance, to improve their teaching proficiency.

The circumstances associated with high levels of achievement in undergraduate studies has not been thoroughly explored in the Australian context. This study investigated factors predicting high academic achievement, defined as maintaining a Distinction average, at undergraduate level. Findings revealed several factors that predicted achievement after two semesters of study. These factors included essay writing skills, with students having satisfactory writing 5.16 times more likely to maintain a Distinction average compared to those with below satisfactory writing; faculty, with students enrolled in Health Sciences 4.63 times more likely compared to students from other faculties; language background, with English-speaking background students 1.67 times more likely compared to English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) students; gender, with females 1.45 more likely compared to males; and age, with older students 1.03 times more likely to achieve high performance compared to younger students. Creating a profile of students likely to excel academically assists decision makers in allocating resources to students less likely to achieve. This research opens the door to further studies investigating whether these factors play a role in predicting student achievement at university.

Purpose: Given the research gaps identified in a literature review, this study aims to uncover how the intensity of learners' motivational behavior and its predictors vary with grade level. Methodology: A large-scale survey was conducted to examine motivational behavior and its predictors among EFL learners across three education levels and ten grades in Taiwan: primary school (Grades 3 to 6), junior high school (Grades 7 to 9), and senior high school (Grades 10 to 12). A total of 12,441 valid cases were collected from both rural and urban areas in Taiwan. ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: The results showed a significant effect of grade level on the intensity of motivational behavior. Specifically, learners' intensity of motivational behavior tended to decline with grade level (years of study). The significant predictors of motivational behavior also differed with grade level. Significance: In addition to theoretical and methodological contributions to L2 motivation research, this study can enhance understanding of factors that could enhance learners' motivational behavior and offer implications to assist EFL teachers in developing motivational teaching strategies.

In recent years, environmental problems have been increasing rapidly around the world and affecting a wide range of environments. Many campaigns are carried out to raise awareness about environmental problems. This study aims to determine the ideas of students at different education levels about environmental problems and to compare these ideas with each other according to their fields. The survey model was used as the research method. The study group of the research consists of a total of 298 students: 75 at the 4th grade level of primary school, 90 at the 7th grade level of secondary school, 56 at the 11th grade level of high school, and 68 at the 3rd and 4th grade level of the university. The "Environmental Problems Opinion Survey", consisting of four open-ended questions, for which validity studies were conducted, was applied to the study group. The descriptive analysis method was used to analyze the data. Environmental pollution is seen as the most important environmental problem at all levels of education. While the answer to the most important cause of environmental problems is littering at the primary school level, it is shown that people act unconsciously on environmental issues at other levels of education. While the answer to the question about your most frequent behavior to prevent environmental problems was "I throw away the garbage" at the primary school, high school and university levels, the answer to the question "I throw the garbage away" was encountered at the secondary school level. Finally, it was suggested that awareness-raising activities be held at all education levels regarding the solution of environmental problems. Based on all these results, it has been observed that similar answers are encountered at all levels of education regarding environmental problems. Conducting more studies to increase students' awareness of environmental problems is among the recommendations of this study.

Although technology has been seamlessly integrated into classroom teaching, there is room for improvement in the way professional development is implemented. The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of Thai teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in implementing digital literacy training. Focusing on technologically illiterate teachers (and particularly older ones), the study aimed to investigate the production of online videos by these teachers to be used in their classrooms. The study was conducted in Trang, Thailand, and involved 36 Thai EFL teachers who underwent a one-month training programme in 2020. Data was collected through a questionnaire, observation, and interviews. The results showed that the participants required additional training time, and faced challenges such as teaching style, computer specifications, and Internet accessibility. Despite these challenges, the teachers reported a positive perceptions of teaching English with technology, and found it was easier than they had anticipated. These findings have pedagogical implications for future implementations of digital literacy training for somewhat technologically illiterate language teachers.

During the pandemic period, there have been such upheavals from production methods to distribution strategies, and from supply methods to corporate functioning. Accordingly, it would not be wrong to say that all companies and sectors, regardless of national or international, are part of this fundamental transformation. When the education sector was evaluated from the same perspective, it is possible to say that it is one of the sectors most affected by the differences created by this pandemic. For instance, very soon after the pandemic, almost all higher education institutions switched to distance education activities instead of face-to-face education. This study aims to examine the effects of the devastation caused by the pandemic on students at the higher education level in the context of efficiency. In this research, the criteria has been set as which university students' efficiency was achieved during the distance education process, and the research included 1604 participants from 15 universities, who formed the study's sample. The data obtained was subjected to reliability and validity analysis, and it was by using the SPSS program, and the results were examined with different dimensions.

Although there is increased interest in social and emotional competence and mental health in Croatia, there are currently limited measurement options available for early childhood settings. Thus, the SSIS SEL Brief Scales (SSIS SELb), an efficient measure of social and emotional learning competencies developed in the United States, was translated to Croatian and used by 49 early childhood educators to rate a sample of 685 children (average age 4.3 years) from several counties in Croatia. Regarding measurement invariance, the final model cohered substantially with a CASEL-inspired framework. Overall reliability was also high especially for the SEL Composite ([alpha] = 0.94), with notably lower reliability for subscales. Regarding cross-group concurrent validity, concurrent coefficients were largely similar across age and gender, but there were regional differences in validity. Likewise, validity correlations were in line with expectations, with moderate relationships observed between the SSIS SEL Composite and Child and Youth Resilience Measure scores. In sum, the high level of reliability provided a foundation for applied and research usage of the Croatian SSIS SELb, although further validation research will continue to be necessary before widescale implementation. Limitations to the study are discussed and also point to needed additional research before utilizing the Croatian translated SSIS SELb for applied decisions with young children.

Perceived life satisfaction during the period of childhood and adolescence can be considered a reliable measure of psychological and emotional growth of children and adolescents. The current study aimed to investigate age differences related to social support provided to students (by teachers, classmates, parents and close friends), and its relationship with school and life satisfaction. The study also examined the significance of social support in explaining students' school and life satisfaction. Data were collected from a sample comprising 390 primary school students in grades 3-8 in Croatia. The findings indicate that students perceive a lower level of support received from parents, teachers, classmates and close friends, and lower school and life satisfaction, as they age. Statistically significant differences were found in perceived teacher support and school and life satisfaction between younger and older students. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that age and support from teachers and classmates are significant predictors of school satisfaction. The most significant predictors of students' life satisfaction are support from parents and classmates, and school satisfaction. Finally, the implications of the findings and guidelines for future research are discussed.

Research on organizational trust and job satisfaction is an over-researched domain within organizational settings. However, whether such a connection extends to educational or language school contexts, has been scarcely investigated in education research. In this study, we report the connection between trust and job satisfaction among English teachers across private language schools and the extent to which age, gender, and experience moderate this relationship. The participants of the present study were selected from among the English teachers of several English schools in Urmia, Iran. We adopted two main questionnaires, namely, job satisfaction and interpersonal trust scales, to collect data. In this study, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was utilized to detect multi-group relationships among the variables. The findings yielded a positive association between English teachers' interpersonal trust and their job satisfaction and illustrated that age and experience moderated the relationship between the two variables. We found that teachers with a higher degree of interpersonal trust were more satisfied with their jobs. The findings warrant taking heed of language teachers' job satisfaction at language schools and creating an educational workplace with cooperation and trust among supervisors and teachers.

This study, aiming to reveal preschool children's mental models of their environment, was carried out with the participation of 225 children aged 36-72 months attending 8 different preschool education institutions. It is based on qualitative research designed around a case study. The Word Association Test and Drawing were used as the data collection tools. In the study, it was observed that 36-48-month-old children mostly focused on the visuals they saw in the park (garden) and traffic in their environmental drawings, and in addition to these visuals, 49-60-month-old children included the forest in their environmental drawings, and 61-72-month-old children included home and school in their environmental drawings. The most prominent environments/elements observed with both data collection tools were the house, traffic, park, and sky for the 3648-month-old children; house, traffic, park, sky, and rural-village for the 49-60-month-old children; and house, traffic, park, sky, rural-village, forest and nearby settlement (market, store, etc.) for the 61-72-month-old children. The common elements that children associate with the environment in their mental models are the concepts of house, traffic, park, and sky.

Using student self-reports on a survey and objective records of academic achievement, I examined the effects of course modality on student satisfaction and academic outcomes at a selective liberal arts college in spring 2021. I compared three groups of undergraduates (N = 729) based on their predominant course modality: Online-Class Group, Residential Blended Learning Group, and Residential In-Person-Class Group. After controlling for gender, race/ethnicity, class level, and socioeconomic status, course modality demonstrated significant main effects on all three satisfaction variables and sense of connection a student felt to the institution. The Online-Class Group reported the lowest satisfaction with level of academic challenge, quality of teaching, and overall quality of academic experiences; it also reported the weakest sense of connection. The Residential Blended Learning Group differed from the Residential In-Person-Class Group on one variable: satisfaction with quality of teaching, on which the former reported lower satisfaction. Course modality did not affect a student's grade point average; although it interacted with gender in its effect on the number of course units a student passed, no subgroup difference by course modality and gender was significant. The ubiquity of cyberspace has resulted in a surge in reported cyberbullying cases globally. Despite numerous studies investigating the impact of cyberbullying on students, research addressing its prevalence in the Middle East remains scarce. This exploratory study aims to assess the prevalence of cyberbullying among university students in six Middle Eastern countries: Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. The study seeks to identify common cyberbullying forms and examine students' responses to each, considering variations based on gender, year of study, study discipline, and country. A descriptive approach is followed to achieve the study objectives. A random sample of 2,642 students (1,887 female) participated in the study by completing an online survey about their experience with seven forms of cyberbullying, and the strategies they used to deal with each. A relatively low prevalence of cyberbullying is found among the sample, with 57.6% reporting that they never experienced any form of cyberbullying and 20% reporting experiencing cyberbullying only once. The most common forms of cyberbullying were exclusion (56%), harassment (51%), and flaming (44%). While differences in the prevalence of cyberbullying are found according to gender in two forms, stalking and flaming, no statistical differences according to study discipline are evident. Students in their later years are more likely to experience all forms of cyberbullying than students in their early years (p < 0.05). The differences are significant across countries, with Jordan being highest, followed by Egypt then Kuwait. Self-defending and confrontation are found to be the most common responses to cyberbullying. Overall, the sample reported using active responses to cyberbullying more than passive responses. Females and students in the arts and humanities are more likely to respond actively to cyberbullying compared to males and students enrolled in science disciplines (all p < 0.05). The findings of the study provide a better understanding of the prevalence of this phenomenon in the region and assist stakeholders in planning preventive strategies.

This quantitative study identified challenges undergraduates faced in Botswana and predicted their readiness for online learning during COVID-19. A descriptive and correlational survey research design was adopted using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A questionnaire was constructed for data collection from a randomly sampled 75 agriculture undergraduates (n=75) at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. A one-sample t-test demonstrated that undergraduates needed to prepare for online learning. They faced several significant challenges including slow personal laptops and devices, lack of interaction between students and teachers, lack of social interaction within a class, lack of immediate feedback and interruptions in lessons, disturbances during lessons, limited broadband data and frequent technology failures. A one-way ANOVA and independent t-test revealed no age, gender and study year differences among undergraduates for the readiness and challenges. Regression analysis determined lack of interaction in class, lack of suitable infrastructure and insufficient training to use the system are the challenges that predicted undergraduates' readiness for online learning. The preparation of undergraduates for online learning can be enhanced by improving the interaction during online lessons, developing the infrastructure required for online teaching and learning and offering training on the use of online teaching and learning systems.

This study compared two versions of the same elementary science professional development (PD) and curriculum program that were offered face-to-face and completely online, while keeping all content consistent between the two. Using quantitative analyses of pre- and posttests of content knowledge (CK), we evaluated the extent to which the online version of the PD compared to the face-to-face PD for increasing the earth science and art CK of upper elementary teachers required to teach an earth science and art integrated curriculum. Additionally, we explored how the impact of PD modality (online vs. face-to-face) on teachers' CK learning outcomes differed for novice and experienced teachers. Findings revealed significantly higher CK learning gains for teachers who participated in online PD compared with face-to-face PD, but with a small effect size. Subgroup analysis revealed that compared with experienced teachers, the novice teachers had significantly higher CK gains from participating in the online PD compared to the face-to-face version with a large effect size. We also discuss the implications for the design of large-scale online teacher PD.

The first part of the article answers seven questions frequently posed by adults who first come in contact with adultism, involving concepts of adult power, children's dependence and protection, limits, guilt, the intersectionality of discrimination, and the internalization of adultism. It explains how adultism constitutes fertile ground for the cultivation of every form of discrimination. The second part of the article focuses on remedies for adultism, specifically looking at some of the practices that we implemented in our multicultural pedagogical community with children of early childhood age. We look at basic pedagogical choices, matters of organization of time and space, and details of interactions of adults and children. The article concludes that there is no given recipe against adultism, and invites adults to discover the immense, barely charted terrain of anti-adultist action.

This study investigates whether demographics, L2 enjoyment, L2 anxiety, psychological well-being, or informal digital learning of English (IDLE) affect willingness to communicate in L2 (L2 WTC) at trait or state levels. Across two weeks, 16 Hong Kong EFL students completed pre-and post-trait-level surveys and generated 1,120 state-level responses via the experience sampling method (ESM). The survey findings revealed that students who were older, had higher language proficiency, or had higher pre-WTC digitally reported higher L2 WTC in the classroom. Students who had studied English longer, had higher language proficiency, had higher pre-psychological well-being, had a higher standard deviation L2 WTC over 14 days, or had higher teacher appreciation showed higher L2 WTC outside of class. Students with higher language proficiency, higher pre-WTC digitally, or higher post-psychological well-being reported higher L2 WTC in digital settings. The ESM findings revealed that students with higher teacher appreciation, currently engaged in productive IDLE or both receptive and productive types of IDLE, currently experienced greater L2 enjoyment, or currently experienced greater well-being had higher L2 WTC now. Our findings are relevant to: (a) L2 WTC, informal language learning, and positive psychology theories, and (b) strategies that can be used to enhance students' L2 WTC overall and at a particular moment.

As information and communication technologies and learner characteristics in higher education develop, so do distance education methods, which are implemented at various levels by higher education institutions. The involvement of students in the learning process is one of the most crucial factors to consider throughout the distance education application transformation, which might change depending on the conditions. At this point, it can be stated that the intrinsic motivation levels of learners involved in distance learning play a decisive role in participating in learning processes. Therefore, examining the intrinsic motivation levels of distance learners is seen as an element that needs to be emphasized. This justifies the study's goal, which is to analyze the intrinsic motivation levels of students who get distance education from higher education institutions concerning factors including age, gender, employment, and educational status. The relational survey model, one of the general survey models, was utilized in this study, which included 327 distance learners. In terms of distance education applications, the findings of the study have a guiding nature for the administrators working in higher education institutions. The analyses carried out revealed that there were no significant differences in the intrinsic motivation levels of distance learners according to their gender, employment situation, or level of education. Furthermore, it has been found that as people get older, their intrinsic incentive for learning grows. A list of recommendations based on the data gathered within this study is provided at the end.

Most research on self-determination theory applications in education focuses on competence and autonomy (Wigfield et al., 2019; Vallerand, 2000). After reviewing its mini theories and relevant recent research, this study argues that relatedness is central to motivation in higher education, as seen in a social context. Specifically, through relatedness, students are presented with alternatives to make choices. Such experience prescribes an internal perceived locus of causality, protects students from falling "prawn" to extrinsic motivation, and consequently improves intrinsic motivation (Deci & Ryan, 1985, p. 154). The hypothesized model is tested using PROCESS macro (Hayes, 2013) based on survey responses from 107 Chinese students regarding learning autonomy and intrinsic motivation, and the results show that relatedness has a complete mediation effect on the relationship between i) autonomy and motivation, ii) competence and motivation. In other words, relatedness complements why autonomy and competence lead to intrinsic motivation. Findings suggest new interpretations of best practices in higher education and open new directions for future research.

Addiction is the state of being addicted to any activity, substance, object or behavior in a way that excludes other activities of one's life or causes physical, mental or social harm to oneself and others. In addition to many and various types of addiction, it seems that an important type of addiction is technology addiction. Today, the dizzying development of technological developments and their inclusion in every aspect of our lives has made it necessary for us to rethink the concepts of far and near. With the rapid development in mobile phone technology, the standard mobile phones used in the past to call someone or send a message to someone have been replaced by state-of-the-art smartphones that make our daily lives much easier. However, on the other hand, it is seen that addiction to smartphones, which have become an integral part of life, is on the rise, and this goes back to pre-school periods. In this context, the aim of the research was determined to examine whether the smartphone usage level of students studying in secondary and high schools affiliated to the National Education Directorate of Tunceli province Hozat district in the 2022-2023 academic year varies significantly according to some demographic characteristics of the students. Within the scope of quantitative research, the data of the research designed in the general survey model were collected by applying the "Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Form (ATBÖ-SF)", developed by Kwon et al. and adapted to Turkish by Noyan et al., face to face between May and June 2023. The scale, for which validity and reliability studies were conducted, was found to be suitable for the use of parametric tests, and in addition to test analyzes such as frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, T Test and One-Way Variance Analysis were used to determine the significance of the difference using statistical data analysis techniques. As a result of the analysis, the average smartphone addiction level being below 3 was interpreted as the students not having smartphone addiction, but the measurements being just below the average indicating a risk factor, while the difference between the dependent and independent variables was not significant (p<0.005). According to the research findings, the smartphone addiction level of students at the lower limit of addiction carries a risk factor, in this respect the findings are warning, and it is recommended that parents, society, and especially schools and relevant institutions and organizations take precautions against the apparent danger.

This study investigated the concerns and perceptions associated with COVID-19 and its variants among faculty, students, staff, and administrators at an R2 research university. Participants: n = 189 participants from the university community. A Qualtrics™ survey was used to draw responses from the university community. The results of this study revealed that (1) Approximately 2/3 of survey respondents are concerned about the appearance of Delta and Omicron COVID-19 variants; (2) 53.7% of respondents were inclined to get vaccinated after the new COVID-19 variants surfaced; (3) 22.2% of respondents tested positive for COVID-19 after becoming fully vaccinated; (4) 70.4% of respondents said they would get the booster shot for COVID-19; (5) 77.2% of respondents felt that there would be a new COVID variant identified this year beyond Delta and Omicron; and (6) Less than 20% of survey respondents feel safe on campus during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic. There remains a general feeling of vulnerability while on campus two years into the COVID-19 pandemic.

Professional development for teachers propels schools to excellence and contributes to school growth. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the role of teachers' personal characteristics, perception towards Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and support of school leaders in the implementation of teachers' CPD at Finote Selam town secondary school in Ethiopia. To accomplish this, Ecological Theory served as a theoretical lens, and a convergent parallel mixed design was used. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 304 teachers selected using a comprehensive sampling strategy, as well as 11 interviewers. As findings, teachers' implementation of CPD has no correlation with age, length of service, and perception of teachers towards CPD. However, there is a significant, strong, and positive relationship between teachers' implementation of CPD and school leaders' contribution to CPD. The support of school leaders explains 39.6 % of the total variance of teachers' CPD implementation. Finally, lack of good school culture among use in professional development activities, lack of commitment, lack of funding, and lack of common understanding related to CPD were the most prominent challenges affecting teachers' implementation of CPD. The findings provide theoretical implications to the literature and practical implication to educational institution leaders by identifying the main challenges of teachers in the implementation of CPD.

The paper discusses an alternative method of assessing the difficulty of pupils' programming tasks to determine their age appropriateness. Building a program takes the form of its successive iterations. Thus, it is possible to monitor the number of times such a program was built by the solver. The variance of the number of program builds can be considered as a criterion of the difficulty of the task. We seek to verify whether this variance is the greatest in the age group for which the task is most suitable. We created several series of programming tasks and offered them to 87000 pupils from 4th to 13th grade. For each task, we compared the optimal age group determined by the variance of the number of program builds method with the group determined by the correct answer ratio method. A strong correlation was observed in traditional microworlds Karel the Robot and Turtle. A moderate correlation was achieved in the new microworld Movie.

This study aims to examine the effects of the "Unlocking Research & Innovative Capability" program for university teachers. A total of 80 teachers from the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University were enrolled. All participants were divided into groups based on their age and teaching experience. Data were collected via surveys. The proposed program was found to have different effects across groups. Young university teachers (28 to 35 years; teaching experience, 3 to 5 years) exhibited improvement in all research and innovative capability variables, ranging from 0.84 in Interdisciplinary Cooperation to 2.63 in Innovative Teaching. The same is true for early middle-aged university teachers (36 to 45 years; teaching experience, 5 to 10 years) who showed improvement ranging from 1.52 in Interdisciplinary Cooperation to 3.00 in Integration of Technology. Older middle-aged university teachers (46 to 55 years; teaching experience, 10 to 20 years) exhibited improvement in their Innovative Teaching, Research Practice, and Integration of Technology; yet, it did not exceed 1.85 points. Older university teachers (older than 56 years; teaching experience, 20 years) demonstrated minimal improvement in all dimensions. This study was conducted as part of governmental research on "Managing the Development of Research & Innovative Capability in the Research University Staff under the Participatory Management Model" launched by the RK Ministry of Education and Science (Project number: AR14872123). The study emphasizes the importance of empowering university teachers as key drivers of research, knowledge generation, and innovative teaching. The present findings can be used to cultivate a culture of innovation and research in academic institutions.

This study ascertained the influence of gender, locality and age on metacognitive reading strategies of secondary school students. The sample size consists of 440 students randomly selected from 23 secondary schools. An adopted questionnaire tagged "metacognitive reading strategies questionnaire," was used as the data gathering instrument, with a logical validity of 0.88 and Cronbach alpha of 0.73 as internal consistency. The data collected were analysed statistically using descriptive statistics and t-tests. Data analysis revealed that females' reading strategies outnumber males'; females' global strategies ranked highest, while females' problem-solving strategies ranked lowest; and students in urban secondary schools tended to utilise metacognitive reading strategies more frequently than their rural counterparts. This study also shows that students with higher age brackets make more use of metacognitive reading strategies than lower-age students. Therefore, it is recommended that educators should be prepared to educate students how to effectively utilise various components of metacognitive reading strategies.

The ability to integrate technology into the online asynchronous classroom is a crucial component of online instruction. The purpose of this correlational study was to determine if online instructors' technology readiness (TR), instructors' age, or the instructors' online teaching experience could predict their students' course completion rates in the asynchronous online environment. A correlational-predictive design was used with a final sample of 99 full-time online undergraduate instructors. The results indicated that the instructors' technology readiness, age, and online teaching experience did not predict the course completion of their students.

This study aimed to investigate how English teachers' identity (ETI) levels vary based on different sociodemographic backgrounds in Algeria. To this end, a survey research design was adopted by utilizing a questionnaire as research instrument: The first of section elicits information about teachers' background information, including age, professional title, teaching experience, leadership position, salary level, and family condition. The second section is Yan's (2024) 19-item English Teacher Identity Measure (ETIM) to measure the teachers' levels of ETI, which consists of four indicators: self-efficacy (SE), future perspective (FP), teacher belief (TB), and career perception (CP). By using convenience sampling, an online questionnaire was emailed to 170 tertiary EFL teachers from different regions in Western Algeria, and 105 teachers voluntarily participated in this study. 30 of them participated in the pilot study and the remaining 75 teachers' responses were analyzed using SPSS. The data revealed significantly different ETI levels according to years of teaching experience. The findings showed that teachers who scored the lowest ETI levels were PhD holders, lecturers, teachers of the 1980s generation and middle-level leaders. This study informs teacher management and teacher educators of those particular teacher groups that need more support.

During the past COVID-19 pandemic, the digital skills of Thai citizens have transformed. This study will lead to ways to promote and develop digital skills and competency in various fields in order to be ready to cope with the Next Normal era. The study of digital competency of Thai citizens aimed to 1) study the digital competency of Thai people, and 2) compare the digital competency of Thai citizens in terms of gender, age and educational background. The 912 research samples were obtained by volunteer sampling. The research instrument was an online evaluation form. Data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent samples by one-way ANOVA. The research found that 1) the overall digital competency of Thai citizens was at a high level, in terms of digital knowledge and skills and characteristics to use digital information technology and communication with confidence and creativity to achieve goals related to work, learning, and participation in society. When considering each aspect, it was found that communication and collaboration, safety, information and data literacy, problem solving, and digital content creation were all at a high level respectively; and 2) When comparing the digital competency of Thai citizens, it was found that the samples with different genders had no statistically significant difference in digital competency. As for age and educational backgrounds, there was a statistically significant difference in digital performance at the 0.05 level, except for the digital competency in safety which had no statistically significant difference. The overall digital competency of Thai citizens at all educational levels is high, and those in advanced professional fields have the highest level of digital competency overall. This is in line with the regulations of numerous Thai universities and vocational schools, which mandate that final-year students take a Digital Literacy Test.

Universities have been at the center of educational debates since their inception. Their functions, aims and products have been questioned in the context of social, cultural, economic and technological changes. In this context, the aim of this study is to critically examine university education from the perspectives of undergraduate students. The study was conducted with a quantitative design by analyzing the data collected with the "Critical University Education Scale" developed by the researcher with 236 undergraduate students studying at Kafkas University. During the development of the scale used in the study, factor analysis, which is a principal component analysis for validity, KMO (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) value, which is a test of sphericity, was calculated and the Cronbach Alpha Coefficient formula was used to ensure reliability. In the data analysis of the study, descriptive statistics, independent t-test and One-Way ANOVA were used, and it was examined whether there was a difference in the thoughts of the undergraduate students participating in the study regarding university education according to their age group, gender, program, year of study and their father's education status. As a result of the research, it was seen that undergraduate students were more critical of the statements in the dimension of teaching practices than in the dimension of innovation and creativity, free thought and inquiry. It was concluded that undergraduate students' critical thoughts regarding university education differed according to age, gender, program, year of study and father's education status.

Despite the growing body of studies on action research (AR) in second/foreign language (L2) education, little is known about teachers' beliefs about AR among different age groups. Hence, this study investigates whether L2 teachers' beliefs about AR vary by considering teachers' age. The Inventory on Teachers' Beliefs about Action Research (ITBAR) is a specifically designed questionnaire to investigate the matter and was distributed to 157 Iranian ELT teachers. Then 120 teachers were randomly divided into three age groups, namely starters (20-34 years), middle-aged (35-49 years), and seniors (50+). A one-way ANOVA test was used to test whether the difference among the groups was significant. The findings showed that teachers can experience age effects in the demanding teaching profession. According to the data, younger teachers had the highest mean scores for their beliefs about AR in comparison to their middle-aged and senior colleagues. This might be attributed to the different perspectives of these teachers toward professional development, the role of pre-service teacher programs, and the familiarity of senior teachers with the limitations of conducting AR in real classroom contexts. It is then suggested that designing collaborative AR projects between beginning and senior teachers and institutional support might lead to more fruitful and positive results.

The current paper examined the impact of a set of individual, technological, and institutional variables on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) among teachers at private schools. The rationale for this study lies in its contribution to the understanding of how teacher characteristics, institutional support, and technological perceptions affect AI adoption in educational settings. The study used data collected from teachers (n=306) from seven school located in Azerbaijan in 2024. The study suggested that perceived usefulness of AI increases teachers' use of AI for educational purposes, while perceived ease of use of AI has no statistically significant impact. The study also documented a statistically significant link between institutional policy and the use of AI by colleagues on the one hand, and AI adoption among schoolteachers on the other. Finally, the study found evidence relating to the link between AI adoption and the age of the teacher, such that teachers who are younger were more likely to adopt this technology. Surprisingly, personal innovativeness and level of openness to new experiences did not stimulate teachers to adopt AI for teaching. The findings contribute to improving the field's understanding of teachers' attitudes and motivations for using AI for instructional purposes. The study findings also highlight the role of administrative regulation and school policies in stimulating the adoption of new technologies. These findings contribute to relatively novel literature relating to the application of AI in education and provide useful recommendations for administrators of educational institutions.

This brief report presents the results of a re-analysis of data by Yi, Man, and Maie (2023), who investigated L1 and L2 intuitive knowledge of phrasal frequency and collocation strength in multiword sequences. We utilized an individual-differences approach and examined which participant variables (age of onset, length of residence, language use, and L2 proficiency) predicted the participants' accuracy in judging the phrasal frequency and association strength of multiword sequences in English. We found that the demographic variables were only related to the accuracy in judging association strength, but those variables differentially predicted the accuracy depending on whether the collocations were of high or medium association strength.

Measurement invariance allows for the comparison and interpretation of scores obtained from the same scales at different times. In this respect, the purpose of this research is to examine the measurement invariance of the satisfaction with life scale applied to different age groups. The study employs the survey model, a type of quantitative research. The purposive sampling method was used in the research. This method is one of the non-random sampling types. This method collected data from 120 individuals under the age of 25 and 120 individuals over the age of 60 who resided in Ankara. The collected data were divided into two groups according to age: young and old. Measurement invariance was examined in four separate stages by performing Multiple Group Confirmatory Factor Analysis. These are configural, metric, scalar, and strict invariance. The data were examined to determine the configural, metric, and scalar invariance across different age groups by using multiple group confirmatory factor analysis. As a result, configural ([chi-squared]/df=0.84;p>0.05), metric ([chi-squared]/df=1.26; p>0.01), scalar ([chi-squared]/df=1.38;p>0.05), and strict ([chi-squared]/df=1.43;p>0.05) invariance are provided that the satisfaction with life scale has invariance properties for two different age levels. This research's application of the satisfaction with life scale scores to various age groups demonstrates measurement invariance and yields results with a similar structure.

This study explores the significance of the online teaching ability of higher education teachers, and how teachers perceived their level of competence in teaching online in north-east (NE) India. The Faculty Readiness to Teach Online (FRTO) instrument developed by Martin et al. (2019) was adapted to conduct a study from 130 teachers in higher education institutions across NE India. The ability to teach online was categorised into four categories, i.e., course design, course communication, time management, and technical competence. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was carried out to do direct and indirect path analysis of the proposed conceptual model. Multiple regression analysis was used in analysing the demographic profiles of the teachers and their perceptions of the importance of online teaching competencies. The findings indicate that the perceived readiness to teach online was not significantly influenced by course design, course communication, time management and technical competencies. Furthermore, regression analysis showed that both age and gender negatively impacted perceptions towards readiness to teach online, with older and female teachers having lower perception scores.

Failure to exercise self-control is one of the leading causes of substance and behavioral addictions. Problematic social media usage (PSMU), a type of behavioral addiction, has become an increasingly serious problem with a significant impact on the lives of individuals of all generations. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the underlying mechanism of PSMU to effectively address the issue. This study performed a meta-analysis, which systematically synthesized existing research in the field, to establish the current empirical state of the relationship between self-control and PSMU. The study included 57 independent samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria (N = 29.576). The analysis results indicated a moderate negative association between self-control and PSMU (r = -0.29). Furthermore, the moderator analysis outcomes suggested that the association between self-control and PSMU did not differ significantly based on variables such as developmental period, educational stage, geographic region, and publication status. The study's findings are expected to inspire future investigations and therapeutic approaches.
