Context: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries, prevalent in athletic contexts have profound physical and psychological impacts. Despite extensive research on the physiological aspects of ACL recovery, the psychological dimensions of this process have gained increased attention. This scoping review delves into the intricate landscape of psychological factors influencing ACL rehabilitation. Design: Scoping review. Methods: A literature search across multiple databases was conducted to identify relevant published studies that provide insight into the psychological aspects of ACL recovery. This search spanned various study designs, enabling a nuanced understanding of the psychological intricacies surrounding ACL recovery. Overall, a total of 1830 unique articles were screened, of which 66 were included in this review. Our findings are further contextualized through alignment with insights from prior reviews on similar themes. Through a comprehensive analysis of diverse literature, we explore 3 key themes: psychological challenges, current rehabilitation programs, and the integration of psychological support. Results: Psychological challenges emerged as a pervasive aspect of ACL rehabilitation, encompassing fear, anxiety, motivation, and depression. The nuanced emotional responses, particularly the fear of reinjury, impact treatment adherence and overall well-being. Contemporary rehabilitation programs revealed inconsistencies in incorporating psychological support, emphasizing the need for standardized, multidisciplinary approaches. The alignment with prior reviews in the literature reinforced the importance of psychological traits, such as knee self-efficacy, in predicting positive outcomes. Conclusion: This scoping review provides a comprehensive overview of psychological factors within ACL rehabilitation, highlighting the importance of tailored interventions and standardized approaches. The infusion of algorithms into organizational fields—accelerated by advances in artificial intelligence—can have disruptive effects that trigger defensive responses. One important response involves establishing a boundary around an algorithm to delimit its interactions with its environment—in engineering terms, constructing an "envelope." Yet, we know little about the process through which such envelopes are constructed. We address this issue by exploring how institutional custodians construct envelopes around disruptive algorithms. We empirically examine custodians' responses to the high-frequency trading algorithms that disrupted the field of U.S. securities trading, focusing on the years 2009–2016. Our inductive analysis shows that custodians created an envelope with interconnected normative, governance, and practice "layers" that jointly constrained high-frequency trading. Each layer emerged as custodians "coupled" one element of the field (e.g., its values) to one aspect of the disruptive algorithms (e.g., their impacts). Our study contributes to research on the social dynamics of algorithms by generating novel theory of how envelopes around algorithms are constructed, and to research on institutional custodianship by highlighting the constructing of envelopes as a custodial response to a wide range of threats—including, but not restricted to, disruptive algorithms. For many patrons, libraries are synonymous with books and reading. However, people don't always take advantage of reader's advisory services offered by libraries. Rather than approaching librarians for suggestions of what to read, most people instead turn to their personal networks or express a preference for more passive approaches to recommendations. As a halfway point between in-person reader's advisory interactions and algorithmic recommendations, Worthington Libraries staff leveraged the NoveList and Polaris APIs to create custom book recommendation kiosks. Recommendation Stations, as we call them, allow people to scan a book barcode, browse read-alikes, check local availability and print shelf locations, all in the guise of an interactive fortune teller. The popularity and relevance of the library makerspace has been well-established and documented in the previous decade of researcher and practitioner work, including numerous hands-on guides from a variety of dimensions relevant to starting and operating a makerspace. Less studied, however, and the focus of this work are the applications of maker technologies within wider library work. Prior qualitative research conducted by the author included interviews with librarians to understand and document their use of maker technologies, such as the Raspberry Pi single-board computer, to support broader library work outside of the makerspace. The findings indicated that common use cases included running library display screens and collecting patron traffic numbers and environmental data. The objective of this subsequent case study is to examine the potential for wider use of such projects by librarians in an academic library setting, by introducing these projects into a new library setting and assessing the related code and educational materials developed by the researcher. This work reports on the findings of the case study, in which the projects were successfully operated in several usage contexts, as well as the challenges and broader implications for adoption within libraries of all types. Big data on job postings reveal multiple facets of the impact of COVID-19 on corporate hiring. Firms disproportionately cut new hiring for high-skill positions, with financially constrained firms reducing skilled hiring the most. Applying machine learning methods to job-ad texts, we find that firms have skewed their hiring toward operationally-core functions. New positions display greater flexibility regarding schedules and tasks. While job posting levels show signs of recovery starting in late-2020, changes to job descriptions and skill profiles persist through early-2022. This article describes the perceptions and experiences of collaboration between teachers of physical education (n = 3) and special educators (n = 3) on teaching pupils with disabilities. Using a qualitative approach, the study seeks to establish the nature and extent of collaboration among these teachers and to identify the benefits and barriers to implementation. Semistructured interviews were used as the main data source. Data were collected from teachers working in the public school system in the southern part of Finland. The findings indicate that while teachers are mostly aware of the value of collaboration, its implementation varies immensely among the different schools. While the special educators in this study see themselves mainly responsible for supporting pupils with disabilities, the physical education teachers showed a strong commitment to the subject matter of their teaching. Applying a grounded theory approach, we investigate how professionals cope with making errors that unintentionally harm others. We purposively sampled medical clinicians to study this phenomenon, as these professionals understand themselves as "enablers of patient health." When unintentionally harming others, clinicians experienced initial feelings of guilt. Triggered by the error experience, these professionals engaged in a cognitive sensemaking process, aiming to determine the root causes of the error and evaluate their level of responsibility. In this process, clinicians considered aspects of themselves and their social environment (i.e., supervisors, organization, colleagues, and clients) as either sensemaking assets or liabilities. The self and others became sensemaking assets when helping to alleviate initial feelings of guilt, and sensemaking liabilities when aggravating them. Depending on the outcome of their sensemaking process, clinicians engaged in control-focused or escape-focused identity work. Using an institutional lens, we investigate the isomorphic effects of both external and internal contexts on human resource management (HRM) systems. Our analysis uses data from 4768 organizations across 34 countries to focus on the similarities in HRM systems. By employing distance matrices, a commonly adopted method in geographic science, we find that both external and internal contexts affect (dis)similarities in HRM systems. Organizations in similar environments exhibit more similar HRM systems. Furthermore, we find that the devolvement of HRM activities from HRM to line management reduces the similarity of HRM systems across organizations. By contrast, a strong strategic position of HRM does not yield a comparable effect. Our study's main contributions include elucidating the multifaceted relationship between context and HRM, highlighting the HRM department's role in this relationship, clarifying the context–HRM connection via the concept of isomorphic pressures, and illustrating the use of distance matrices as tool with great explanatory power for the analysis of similarities among HRM phenomena. Line managers are often responsible for implementing HR practices in organizations. Why do some line managers implement HR practices as intended while others do not? We draw on the concept of accountability focus to highlight that managers' HR implementation behavior is driven by what they feel accountable for, and we examine how accountability focus is shaped by characteristics of managers' role. We test our theoretical model across two field studies: a three‐wave survey with managers and a study with dyads of managers and employees. When managers experienced more autonomy in their HR role, they felt more accountable for outcomes and were less likely to implement HR practices, but this was mitigated when managers also felt competent in their HR responsibilities. More competent managers felt more accountable for processes and in turn were more likely to implement HR practices, which positively related to employees' discretionary effort. Our findings highlight boundaries to managerial autonomy, and theoretical insights about the motivational mechanisms, which drive HR implementation, with implications for employees. We contribute to theory on managerial accountability by elaborating the nomological net of accountability focus and, by developing a measurement scale through several pilot studies, provide opportunities for further research. A fundamental organization design principle is to group interdependent roles into the same subunits to minimize coordination costs. However, observations in organizations, as well as theorizing in other subfields, such as corporate governance, indicate that interdependent roles sometimes perform conflicting functions, suggesting that they should be separated rather than integrated. Building on work in systems theory and axiomatic design theory, we discuss how to reconcile these two perspectives. Our key proposal is to distinguish between ends and means, or functions (e.g., goals or mandates) and structures (e.g., roles). This conceptualization makes it possible for two roles to be simultaneously interdependent in work processes yet conflicted in goals. Our framework leads to a modification of the traditional organization design principle of grouping based on interdependencies. It also suggests an alternative explanation for the division of labor within organizations: Organizations divide labor not only to capture gains from specialization but also to avoid functional conflict. Role theory generally predicts that when the demands and norms of two roles are highly contrasted, individuals will construct a strong boundary to separate the roles. However, such predictions are grounded primarily in the Global North, emphasizing role pairings including "work–family" and hybrid "work–work." Comparatively, the Global South is characterized by a lack of public services that creates a highly contrasted, highly salient, and yet understudied role pairing—"work–community." Additionally, the socioeconomic features of the Global South (e.g., dense and overlapping community networks, financial poverty) call into question whether existing predictions surrounding boundary strength are likely to hold. We conducted a qualitative study of 73 Tanzanian participants who had both a self-employed work role and a family planning counselor community role. We found that highly contrasted roles can be simultaneously perceived as both incompatible and compatible. Specifically, the boundaries we observed were neither uniformly strong nor weak, but rather of asymmetric strength: strong when a social interaction was anchored in the community role, but weak when anchored in the work role. This article examines individuals' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses to the destabilization of their occupations, how their responses differ, and why. We focus on the context of journalism, an occupation undergoing severe destabilization in the U.S. and seen as deeply meaningful by many of its incumbents. Drawing on two waves of interviews with 72 unemployed or former newspaper journalists, conducted over five months, and additional interviews with 22 others, we identified two sets of responses, each characterized by distinctive cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns. Building on these findings, we developed the construct of "meaning fixedness" to capture the extent to which individuals view the meaning of the different components of their work to be fixed within one occupational context or flexible across different occupations. We found that participants held different interpretations of journalism's destabilization and assessments of how portable their work components were to other occupational contexts: flexible-meaning perceivers generally engaged in actions to reinvent their career, while fixed-meaning perceivers engaged in actions to persist in journalism with the hope that their occupation could be restored. Our findings culminate in a model of meaning fixedness and how it shapes individuals' navigation of occupational destabilization. This research uncovers an individual-level perception that has the potential to shape the varied responses to occupational changes observed in prior research, contributing to the literatures on occupations, the meaning of work, and role transitions. As perceived career plateau is a prevalent but undesirable state which is harmful to employees and organizations, human resource management (HRM) research has devoted efforts to exploring ways of managing it. However, to date, research has largely been limited to variables that reduce perceived career plateau. There is a need to understand what factors increase these perceptions and how/when they do so, to advance theoretical and practical perspectives. This study contributes to the career plateau literature by investigating how and under what conditions work‐role overload can increase employees' perceived career plateau (hierarchical and job content plateaus). Based on a three‐wave survey of employees from the service sector of China, we found that work‐role overload interacted with employees' trait emotional stability and affected their work–life conflict, which had downstream implications on the two types of perceived career plateaus. Specifically, work‐role overload related positively to work–life conflict only when employees had a high (versus low) level of emotional stability. Also, work–life conflict mediated the effects of work‐role overload on perceived hierarchical and job content plateaus for employees with high, but not for those with low, emotional stability. These findings provide new insights into how, by taking into account stressful work contexts and individual differences, HRM professionals may intervene to prevent employees from perceiving career plateau. Purpose: This study's purpose was to explore professional career paths into physical education teacher education. Methods: Participants included 27 physical education teacher educators with an average of 20.2 years of experience selected from among attendees at international conferences, using a combination of convenience and purposive sampling. Data sources included semistructured interviews, living graphs, and participant vitae. Results: Findings describe intrinsic and extrinsic motivating factors to pursue a professional role change and the selection of a doctoral program including: (a) prompted by others, (b) self-initiated, and (c) forced choice. After deciding to pursue a doctoral degree, program choice was predicated by disciplinary and institutional, as well as idiosyncratic and personal considerations. Conclusions: Understanding how and why participants repositioned themselves from their current roles into doctoral education has important implications for further research and practice to enhance the quality of doctoral education. Purpose Postpartum hypertension (PPHTN) poses increased risks, including of stroke. Timely assessment and management by clinicians is imperative but challenging. Team-based care involving pharmacists has shown promise in improving blood pressure control, yet its application in PPHTN management remains unexplored. The objective of this study was to determine the impact and feasibility of an interprofessional model for PPHTN management. Summary This initiative implemented a novel interprofessional model at a safety-net hospital to address previous workflow limitations. Ambulatory care pharmacists collaborated with an obstetric nurse (OBRN) and a maternal fetal medicine specialist to manage high-risk patients with PPHTN utilizing electronic consults (e-consults). Data collection and symptom assessment were completed by an OBRN via telemedicine appointments. Pharmacists employed a collaborative practice agreement based on a preestablished algorithm to initiate medications. Data on patient demographics, consult volume, prescriptions, and pharmacist comfort were collected during the first quarter of full integration. Pharmacists completed 55 e-consults and generated 54 prescriptions. The average time spent per chart review was 12.5 minutes, and the average time to completion of e-consults was 54 minutes. Forty-five unique patients received care, who were primarily non–English-speaking and non-Hispanic Black patients. Pharmacists reported moderate to high comfort levels in managing PPHTN based on the algorithm and provided feedback leading to workflow adjustments. Conclusion Integration of pharmacists into PPHTN care enables prompt medication initiation and titration. This innovative model, involving remote blood pressure monitoring, telemedicine visits with an OBRN, and e-consults completed by pharmacists, ensures delivery of timely and equitable care and improved access across a diverse population. Adherence to professional ethics in nursing is fundamental for high-quality ethical care. However, analysis of the use and impact of nurses' codes of ethics as a part of professional ethics is limited. To fill this gap in knowledge, the aim of our review was to describe the use and impact of the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements published by the American Nurses Association as an example of one of the earliest and most extensive codes of ethics for nurses with their interpretative statements and constituting a strong basis for the International Council of Nurses' Code of Ethics for Nurses. We based our review on previous literature using a scoping review method. We included both non-scientific and scientific publications to provide an analysis of codes of ethics which can be utilized in development and revision of other nurses' codes of ethics. In the searches, we used CINAHL and PubMed databases limiting publications to texts with a connection to the Code of Ethics for Nurses published from January 2001 to November 2022 and written in English. Searches yielded 1739 references, from which 785 non-scientific and 71 scientific publications were included for analysis of the data. Although non-scientific and scientific publications addressed different number of categories, the results indicated that in the both groups the use and impact focused on professional ethics, nursing practice, and work environment and less on education, research, or social health issues. Nurses' ethical standards were not addressed in non-scientific publications, and clinical issues and leadership were not in focus in scientific publications. OBJECTIVE: To describe practicum experiences as perceived by nurse leader preceptors of graduate students in a nursing administration practicum. BACKGROUND: Practicum experiences in graduate nursing administration programs provide students with exposure to the real-life experiences of nurse leaders, bridging the gap between academic knowledge gained and the application of that information to the workplace. The literature lacks best practices for graduate nursing administration practicum experiences. METHODS: Eight nurse leaders were interviewed using a semistructured format. Data were transcribed and subjected to selective thematic analysis. RESULTS: Five themes were identified: professional and personal growth, transition of education into practice, academic partner engagement and support, time, and contributions to the organization. CONCLUSION: Leadership practicum experiences provide a real-world perspective and are an essential part of growing future nurse leaders. This study yielded invaluable insight from nurse leader preceptors, recommendations for structuring graduate nursing administration practicums, and implications for sustaining resilient academic-practice partnerships. Background: Breast cancer patients experience various adverse symptoms during adjuvant chemotherapy. These adverse symptoms often form symptom clusters and have a negative impact on patients. Aims: To summarise common symptom clusters in different dimensions and their longitudinal changes among breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy. Design: A systematic review. Data Sources: Ten electronic databases were searched from 2001 to January 2024, and the search was last updated on 16 August 2024. Methods: Two reviewers independently assessed the eligibility of each study and extracted data. The Standard Quality Assessment Criteria for Evaluating Primary Research Papers was used to evaluate the quality of included studies. The findings were synthesised narratively. This systematic review has been registered (CRD42022370210). Results: Nine studies with a total of 1454 participants were included. The common symptom clusters in breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy were the gastrointestinal symptom cluster (nausea‐lack of appetite), the fatigue‐pain‐sleep disturbance symptom cluster and the psychological symptom cluster (worry‐sadness‐nervousness‐distress‐feeling irritable‐difficult concentrating). The severity dimension was the most frequently utilised in identifying symptom clusters, with the number and concurrence of symptom clusters showing variation over time. Conclusions: This study summarised common symptom clusters in breast cancer patients receiving adjuvant chemotherapy and revealed their changes from symptom dimensions and the chemotherapy process. These findings support further exploration of symptom cluster changes and underlying mechanisms, facilitating the design of targeted management strategies, including appropriate interventions and measurement dimensions in clinical nursing, to ultimately reduce patients' symptom burden. In this study, we apply a theoretical framework that combines the life-course perspective and the concept of temporality to explore the career agency of immigrants participating in employment interventions in Norway. Findings suggest that immigrants' career agency is influenced by several factors, including the management of family duties and temporal asynchronies; career history and temporal liminality; and coping with past traumas and temporal suspension. Immigrants might overlook job opportunities due to family obligations or opt for low-skilled professions, seeking an exit from temporal liminality. The endured traumas, followed by temporal suspension, prompt the pursuit of the employment opportunities that are less mentally taxing. Our study highlights the need for employment counselling that acknowledges the effects of disrupted life courses and temporality on immigrants' career agency. By comprehending clients' experiences of temporal challenges, counsellors can create tailored strategies and advice that resonate with clients' lived experiences and current social context. Background: This paper presents the findings from an exploratory study on alcohol and other drugs (AOD) nurses' views on current career opportunities and challenges and on how their role has been affected by clinical and structural changes in service delivery. Methods: The paper is based on qualitative interviews with a purposive sample of twelve AOD nurses in the UK. A narrative approach to interviewing aimed to encourage emergence of new insights and suggest theories for future examination. Interview domains were informed by the research team's knowledge of AOD nursing and by themes from published literature. Interviews were recorded, transcribed, and coded and a reflexive thematic analysis was conducted. Results: Key themes emerging focused on the growth, advantages, and challenges of non-medical prescribing (NMP), and the impact on AOD nursing of changes in workforce structures and environments. The findings indicate considerable doubts about career opportunities for nurses in AOD services although NMP may offer some limited routes to career advancement. Conclusions: Some long-standing issues around the identity and professional status of AOD nurses persist and current clinical and structural changes have created a "liminal space" within which the nursing role and AOD nurse identityare disrupted and in transition. The purpose of this paper is to explore how care managers in team conferences jointly solve problems related to difficult cases involving clients with cognitive decline, focusing specifically on their professional roles and judgements. Team conferences in a Swedish social work setting mean that social workers assess and interpret previously collected information and discuss how to proceed with cases. We use conversation analysis to study two case sequences from 137 audio-recorded cases, focussing on professional judgements and accomplishing agreement. We show how care managers make use of different conversational practices, such as hypothetical talk and shared authority as a 'we' when conveying institutional routines, as well as when providing support to care managers. We also show how the care managers make use of expanding techniques that challenge their manager's advice. Primary palliative nursing in home health care (HHC) can be delivered to medically complex patients across the lifespan. Healthcare chaplains in the United States increasingly report being tasked by their organizations to participate in the formal work of clinical ethics, by serving on ethics committees, performing clinical ethics consultations, or leading clinical ethics programs. This mapping study documents that professionally-trained chaplains possess a number of skills and attributes that enhance their capability for this work; however, they often lack certain knowledge specific to the discipline of clinical ethics that is needed for roles they are being asked to perform. Diversifying the chaplain workforce in hospital spiritual care departments and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) programs is essential for meeting the needs of a religiously diverse population in the USA. We interviewed seven total participants, including two Somali Muslim chaplain students and their Muslim and Christian chaplain educators in one CPE program. Participants described their personal journeys and motivations for pursuing careers in healthcare chaplaincy, their impact on hospitalized patients, and the role of expanding perspectives for those with little prior exposure to Somali Muslim faith leaders. Representation and linguistic diversity were viewed as positive attributes despite challenges of racial and religious discrimination. Recommendations include adjusting educational requirements for entry into the field to consider professional equivalencies; engaging community chaplains; and collaborating with local communities. As part of the evolution of the strengths-based approach in the criminological field in recent decades, various countries in the world operate peer-based programs in prisons and in the community. These programs utilize the personal knowledge and live experience of convicts and addicted people, that is, wounded healers, to promote recovery and rehabilitation processes. Studies point to the many advantages inherent in such peer work, especially for the aid providers. However, little is known about the perceived effects of professional peer work for people with a history of addiction and incarceration, as the current study suggests, the first of its kind in Israel. The respondents were 23 trained men and women with a history of traumas, addiction, and incarceration, all are formally employed in peer worker positions in various therapeutic settings, in prison and/or in the community. The findings indicate that peer work enhances the participants' social capital, and promotes their positive change and recovery process, albeit with some difficulties and challenges. The paper discusses these findings from the emerging Convict Therapy perspective and related approaches of positive criminology and desistance from crime. Specifically, our findings expand the literature on wounded healers in the criminological field and reinforce the culture of 'giving back' embodied in the role of peer supporters. This introduction to the special issue on mixed methods research examines guest editor perspectives on the research culture in special education and the broader ecosystem of education research. Articles included in the special issue are used to illustrate how core methodological features and application of a flexible metaparadigm enables mixed methods research to enhance the quality and depth of research findings. Given that the researcher's role as the instrument is pronounced in mixed methods research, we argue for reflexivity and explicit reporting of how researcher backgrounds shape the questions they ask, methods they use to answer them, and lenses through which they interpret findings. We encourage our colleagues to consider how the integration of numerical and textual data can enable us to ask questions that challenge traditional dichotomies, capture the complexities of human experiences, and generate more nuanced interpretations of findings that acknowledge the inherent limitations of relying on a single methodology or paradigm. Early mortality experienced by people living with mental health issues (hereon termed consumers) is largely preventable. Healthcare professionals perceive healthcare system inadequacies such as diagnostic overshadowing, stigma and fragmentation of physical and mental healthcare services can be resolved through effective integration approaches. Service‐ and individual‐level integration approaches involve multidisciplinary teams collaborating and coordinating care to holistically meet consumers' physical and mental health needs. Evidence suggests appropriately trained healthcare professionals can deliver effective integrated treatment without financial or organisational restructuring. Specialist nursing positions such as Physical Health Nurse Consultants can support and integrate physical and mental health care. Consumers report the Physical Health Nurse Consultant as providing dedicated, integrated, coordinated and holistic mental and physical health care. This study aimed to explore the Physical Health Nurse Consultant role from the perspectives of healthcare professionals. A qualitative exploratory study design was used. Fourteen healthcare professionals participated in individual interviews or focus groups. Interview recordings were transcribed, and thematically analysed. Three themes were identified: (i) role functions, including integration of physical and mental health care, (ii) impact on consumer physical health outcomes and (iii) impact on service delivery. Healthcare professionals perceive the Physical Health Nurse Consultant effectively integrates physical and mental health care and subsequently support the continuation and embedding of the role in routine practice. Future research is required to explore healthcare professionals' experiences and perceptions of how these roles be translated to routine clinical practice. Understanding the perspectives of regional people living with mental illness is crucial to adapting services, improving holistic care and meeting individual needs. This study explored people living with mental illness perceptions of physical health, mental health and well‐being. A descriptive qualitative study design underpinned by empowerment theory was conducted. Qualitative data were collected verbally via semi‐structured interviews, with demographic details provided verbally at the end of the interview. Thematic analysis was utilised to identify themes. The COREQ checklist was used for reporting. Fourteen participants admitted to regional mental health inpatient units aged between 25 and 84 years old were interviewed. Participants felt their overall well‐being was good despite feeling their physical health or mental health was suboptimal, suggesting that their perceived well‐being is influenced by factors beyond their physical and mental health. Most participants reported looking after their physical health, mental health and well‐being and identified various behavioural lifestyle strategies they found helpful. Thematic analysis identified three themes: functioning well, feeling in control and meeting basic needs. Mental health services and clinicians play an important role in empowering people with mental illness to improve their physical health, mental health and well‐being while admitted to inpatient services; however, it is acknowledged resources can be limited. The aim of this study was to explore psychiatric nurse's experiences of caring for people with auditory hallucinations in an acute unit. A qualitative study was conducted using thematic analysis. The study involved semi‐structured interviews with 18 acute unit nurses all of whom provided interventions to patients with auditory hallucinations. Overall, participants identified their role in the management of risk within an acute unit, the importance of their therapeutic role and a perceived over‐reliance on medication administration as a primary nursing intervention. These findings thus demonstrate the personal and professional conflict that nurses face when working in an acute unit with patients who experience auditory hallucinations. Nurses are in a prime position to provide effective interventions and assistance for people with auditory hallucinations in an acute unit. The findings of this study indicate that mental health nurses may require additional support and education to provide care in a truly recovery‐based manner, with training in specific interventions and engagement skills for people who hear voices. Background: The number of Dutch clinical midwives has increased substantially over the last 20 years, but their tasks, responsibilities, and formal positions remain unclear. This study aimed to gain insight into the current tasks and responsibilities of clinical midwives in Dutch hospitals. We also aimed to determine whether these tasks varied among three types of hospitals in the Netherlands: secondary nonteaching hospitals, secondary teaching hospitals, and tertiary hospitals. Methods: A cross‐sectional national survey in which a questionnaire was sent to 810 clinical midwives from 78 hospitals was conducted. Responses from 412 (51%) clinical midwives from 77 hospitals were included in the analysis. Results: Most respondents (97%) provided care in the delivery wards. They were often involved in the induction of labor (88%), requests for pain relief (87%), cases of meconium‐stained fluid (59%), prolonged first‐stage labor (56%), and maternal hypertensive disorders (43%). Daily tasks and responsibilities were determined by the type of pathology (60%), caseload in the ward (48%), and years of work experience (28%). The tasks varied according to hospital type, and the majority also conducted non‐care‐related tasks, such as auditing (83%) and teaching (67%). Conclusions: Dutch clinical midwives play important roles in obstetric care. They provide care for women with a wide range of pathologies they are not always trained for. In addition, they perform non‐care‐related tasks. Their tasks varied according to hospital type. Objective: To explore how clinicians understand coaching and their clinician‐coach practice in emergency medicine. Methods: Participants were surveyed about the value of coaching and their beliefs about the enablers of, and barriers to, being a clinician‐coach. Results: Three themes were developed for the value of coaching: empowerment and growth; enhanced interpersonal dynamics; and reflective transformation. Key enablers were supportive infrastructure, self‐driven development and recognition of value. Key barriers were time constraints and scheduling conflicts, cultural challenges and financial and structural obstacles. Rationale, Aims and Objectives: Clinical use of psychotropic medications involves diverse risks, addressable by nursing interventions. The research had a dual purpose: developing an "Evidence‐Based Medication Therapy Management Guideline" and a "Medication Administration‐Tracking Chart" and evaluating their use through an evaluative case study. Methods: Evidence‐based guideline and chart development and evaluative case study. Initially, Evidence‐Based Medication Therapy Management Guideline and Medication Administration Tracking Chart for managing medication in a psychiatric unit were developed. Subsequently, their efficacy was evaluated in a case study involving 10 participating nurses used in the psychiatric unit with 123‐bed of a training and research hospital in Turkey. Data was collected through personal forms, interviews, medication charts, and researcher observations, and the analysis employed Merriam's case study method. Results: Three themes (inception, implementation, termination, and sustainers) and 12 sub‐themes emerged. Nurses stated that the research tools filled their information gaps, enhancing the medication therapy management process's effectiveness and safety, improving nursing care quality and continuity, and benefiting patient outcomes. Nurses expressed a desire to consistently use the tools in the unit and provided suggestions. Conclusion: Nurses highlighted the tools' potential to enhance medication safety, psychiatric care, and patient outcomes. However, their stance on using evidence‐based tools revealed an approach/avoidance conflict, balancing benefits and barriers. Experience emerged as a hindrance in embracing evidence‐based clinical tools. This study is among the first to comprehensively develop evidence‐based medication management guideline and administration‐tracking chart for psychiatric nurses globally and in our country. Routine use of the tools is expected to enhance nurses' expertise in psychotropic medication management, leading to improved patient outcomes in medication‐related aspects. This paper presents quantitative and qualitative findings from an interdisciplinary research project exploring student teachers' positive perceptions of people on the autism spectrum. The set of findings reported in this paper asked 704 student teachers from one university in England (n = 191), Finland (n = 251) and Sweden (n = 262) to write down the first three words they thought of to identify the characteristics of people on the autism spectrum. Data was analysed using a multi-layered, deductive co-rated coding approach. Through this approach repeated words were extracted as were negative and undetermined words, leaving only positive words. Examination of the positive words identified found differences in the manner student teachers focus on the positive characteristics of people on the autism spectrum as this is an understudied area of research. Finnish student teachers more frequently used language to describe the positive characteristics of people on the autism spectrum that reflected their perception of learning being their primary professional role. However, English and Swedish student teachers used language that showed they perceived their role as encompassing the social and emotional development of their pupils, with little reflection about the positive characteristics of people on the autism spectrum as learners. Background: Health professionals are increasingly being called to address the social determinants of health (SDOH) and, to do so effectively, often requires an integrated approach to care. As a result, accreditation standards across multiple professions have emphasised the importance of interprofessional education (IPE). Approach: This paper describes large‐scale, community‐engaged learning that is required annually of students from nursing, pharmacy, public health, and social work. Through a series of asynchronous and synchronous activities that are informed by the Interprofessional Education Collaborative core competencies, students are trained to be SDOH change makers who can readily adopt integrated care service delivery frameworks into their future practice. Evaluation: Approximately 1000 students have participated in this event since the University launched its IPE curriculum in 2017. Student consistently report achievement of the course learning objectives, with 91% of students reporting that the learning activities enhanced their understanding of their professional roles/responsibilities in regards to addressing poverty and food insecurity. Implications: Two key lessons learned from these efforts are described, including the benefits of a trauma‐informed pedagogical approach and special considerations for large‐scale learning. Aim(s): To describe advanced practice nursing (APN) in the French healthcare landscape and to provide insights on how the role is defined and implemented and how the role is perceived by physicians. Design: A mixed‐method approach incorporating qualitative and quantitative data to offer a global understanding of APN implementation in France was used. Methods: Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with APNs and physicians in diverse healthcare settings in France. The questionnaire assessed the roles, relationships with physicians and patients and the perceived implementation success of APNs. In‐depth interviews explored experiences, definitions, challenges and perspectives of APNs. A thematic analysis was applied to the qualitative data to complete the quantitative exploration. Descriptive analyses were performed for quantitative data. Results: A total of 41 APNs and 12 physicians were involved in this study between December 2022 and March 2023. The findings underscore APN as a pivotal, independent profession integrating advanced clinical expertise and interprofessional skills. The challenges encountered by APNs include role ambiguity, ongoing resistance and the need to address institutional barriers. Despite the fact that 73.2% of APNs reported that their role was well implemented, only 17.1% had clearly defined roles at the outset. Conclusion: This study revealed the dynamic and evolving nature of APN in France, highlighting its challenges and opportunities. Despite facing role ambiguity and resistance, APNs play a crucial role in the healthcare system. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: The results highlight the need for specific interventions to tackle challenges and facilitate successful integration of APN. These insights lay a foundation for future research and interventions aimed at boosting the impact and acceptance of APN in France, potentially influencing policy modifications and professional development. Aim: This article appraises models and theories related to advanced nursing practice. It argues that while the role of the advanced nurse practitioner builds on and extends beyond traditional nursing, it remains firmly grounded in 'caring'. Background: The stereotype that nurses 'care' and doctors 'cure' is fading. Increasingly, nurses have crossed boundaries and conducted independent assessment, diagnosis, prescribing and consultation, which used to be the doctor's role. Confusion and argument have arisen due to the higher‐level practice of the advanced nurse practitioner, as many questions where these 'doctor nurses' stand. Design: A literature review. Data Sources: Databases, including CINAHL, Medline and Google Scholar, were searched. Method: Databases were searched, and relevant studies and review articles from 1970 to 2023 were identified using the following keywords: 'advanced nurse practitioner', 'nurse practitioner', 'advanced nursing', 'advance practice', 'nurse practitioner', 'nursing theory' and 'nursing model'. Results: Although advanced nurse practitioners identify themselves as nurses, there is limited use of nursing theory to conceptualize this new level of practice and to define their contribution to the multi‐disciplinary team. It is noted that a holistic approach to personalized patient care, based on therapeutic relationships and effective communication, may help us identify the unique contribution of the advanced nurse practitioner. Conclusions: The development of advanced nursing theory needs to capture this holistic approach and its caring element to recognize the value and strengthen the identity allegiance of this hybrid role. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: Holistic approach and patient‐centred care, effective communication and the therapeutic relationship are strong characteristics relating to ANP practice, the latter of which is yet to be clearly defined and captured in nursing theories. Background: Venous leg ulcers affect 1.5% of the UK adult population. Leg ulcers are painful, can be malodourous and are associated with poor quality of life. Leg ulcers are predominantly cared for by nurses in the community. Frequently, patients receive suboptimal treatment through unwanted variations in care and simple ulcers deteriorate to become hard‐to‐heal wounds. It is important to understand the current UK system of care and how nurses and patients navigate through it. Aim: The aim of this paper was to understand how, when, for whom and in what context leg ulcers are cared for in the United Kingdom and specifically, the current system of care, the nurses' role and the patients' experience in this system of care. Design: A realist synthesis of the literature was undertaken, reported following the RAMESES publication standards: Realist syntheses. Data Sources: An iterative literature search was conducted across three recognized health collections from January 2010 to January 2022 that included descriptive studies as well as primary research. Results: 73 papers were included. Conclusion: In the absence of UK national guidance that recommends how leg ulcer care is organized and delivered, care is commissioned locally, with variable outcomes. Patients with venous leg ulcers would like to be looked after by knowledgeable, skilled and confident nurses, in well‐equipped and staffed clinics; nurses who have the ability to make clinical judgements to alter their treatment when necessary and are empowered to refer to specialist centres when further support is required. Background: Master's degrees for nurses have various foci including clinical practice, leadership and education, with some programs consisting of coursework, while others offer hybrid study that combines coursework and research. Multiple formats are associated with offering the research component. The research component is often termed the minor thesis. Limited knowledge exists regarding the supervision of the research component. Aim(s): To capture the practices and perspectives of experienced nurse academics regarding effective supervision of the masters‐level minor thesis in nursing coursework master degrees. The Study: Design: Qualitative descriptive. Methods: Semi‐structured interviews with 28 experienced nurse academics recruited from 15 Australian and three New Zealand universities linked to the Council of Deans in Australia and New Zealand. Inclusion criteria were having experience of supervising masters‐level minor theses and higher degrees. Interviews were face‐to‐face using the internet platform Zoom©. Thematic analysis was undertaken. Findings: The analysis revealed three themes and associated sub‐themes: (i) establishing the framework (setting up the student's research; building the student–supervisor relationship; setting clear expectations), (ii) supervisors' knowledge and actions: driving for success (supervisors' knowledge for a satisfactory and timely outcome; supervisors' actions to develop students' capabilities; supervisors' actions of drawing in other expertise) and (iii) supervisor savviness: Attending to the finer points of supervision for student success (using your attributes as a supervisor; being savvy to teach and engage students; creatively seeking a smooth process for student success). Conclusion: The findings highlight three themes crucial to effective supervision of masters‐level minor theses in nursing: Establishing a strong research framework, emphasizing supervisors' knowledge and proactive engagement and attending to nuanced aspects of supervision for student success. These insights contribute to deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of supervising minor theses, providing a valuable foundation for refining supervisory practices and enhancing the educational experience within coursework nursing master degree programs. Implications for the Profession and/or Patient Care: The findings highlight the supervisors' pivotal practices in guiding students through the minor thesis. These insights will be useful for inexperienced and experienced supervisors and for degree program directors. The findings should inform supervision training and supervision practices in the future. Impact: The study addressed a gap in knowledge about what experienced supervisors do to be effective and achieve success in the research component in a hybrid master degree for registered nurses.Effective supervision for student success in the minor thesis requires supervisors to establish and maintain a project and supervisory framework with appropriate boundaries and that is attuned to both the supervisor and student capabilities and preferences.Supervisors have an active role in directing the focus, scale and scope of a minor theses in keeping with university requirements and the short timeframe.Supervisors pay attention to the development of multiple student literacies (research, academic, professional, feedback and cultural) as core aspects of the masters research journey.Supervisors use their savviness and customize supervision to student contexts and capabilities as they guide development to achieve student success.The research findings have implications for targeted supervisor training and enhancing educational strategies for research supervision of minor thesis students. Peer support models of service provision have become increasingly prevalent in recent decades across multiple health and human services fields. In this scoping review, we examine peer support work within the context of intimate partner violence (IPV) service provision, including an examination of how this approach is conceptualized, the mechanisms underlying it, the impact of professionalism, and the benefits and challenges experienced by IPV peer support workers (PSWs). Three social science databases were searched with keywords related to IPV and peer support work, with additional articles and materials identified via targeted Google searches. The final sample of materials meeting criteria for the study (i.e., focusing on trained peer workers and their experiences serving IPV survivor clients) includes 10 papers and reports published from 1983 to 2022. We find that peer support work is conceptualized as a holistic alternative to traditional forms of IPV service provision, and that PSWs are viewed as occupying a unique role in relation to clients that enhances their ability to provide comprehensive care. However, we also identify several challenges resulting from the increasing professionalization of the IPV field, including a lack of role clarity for PSWs, a need to balance structure and flexibility in peer work service settings, and skepticism toward PSWs from credentialed professionals. Lastly, we find that although PSWs experience advantages from providing services, including enhanced personal growth and healing, they also navigate challenges related to maintaining their own emotional well-being and would benefit from additional training and institutional support. Aim: This study aimed to survey general practitioners' (GPs) and radiologists' perspectives on referrals, imaging justification, and unnecessary imaging in Norway. Materials and methods: The survey covered access to imaging, responsibilities, attitudes toward justification assessment, referral process, and demographics using multiple choice questions, statements to report agreement with using the Likert scale and one open question. Results: Forty radiologists and 58 GPs attending national conferences completed a web-based survey, with a 20/15% response rate, respectively. Both radiologists (97%) and GPs (100%) considered avoiding unnecessary examinations essential to their role in the healthcare service. Still, 91% of GPs admitted that they referred to imaging they thought was not helpful, while about 60% of the radiologists agreed that unnecessary imaging was conducted in their workplace. GPs reported pressure from patients and patients having private insurance as the most common reasons for doing unnecessary examinations. In contrast, radiologists reported a lack of clinical information and the inability to discuss patient cases with the GPs as the most common reasons. Conclusion: This study adds to our understanding of radiologists' and GPs' perspectives on unnecessary imaging and referrals. Better guidelines and, even more importantly, better communication between the referrer and the radiologist are needed. Objective: This study described the experiences and perceptions of how primary health care professionals (PHCPs) support patients with venous leg ulcers (VLUs) in self-care monitoring. Design: A qualitative approach with reflexive thematic analysis was used, with 24 individual qualitative open interviews. Setting: Primary health care clinics and community health care in four southern regions in Sweden. Subjects: Registered nurses, district nurses and nurse assistants who had experience of caring for patients with VLUs. In total, 24 interviews were conducted with PHCPs in Sweden. Results: PHCPs have a vital role in promoting patient independence and responsibility, identifying needs and adapting care strategies, while also recognising unmet needs in patients with VLUs. Conclusion: PHCPs actively monitor patients' self-care and establish caring relationships. They see a need for a structured primary health care work routine for ulcer management. KEY POINTS: PHCPs described encouraging patients by identifying needs, adapting care and promoting self-care monitoring using various skills and strategies. PHCPs described unmet needs and insufficient care practices for patients with VLUs. Background: According to the risk and resilience perspective, protective factors can attenuate the effect of risks and challenges on children's adjustment. For immigrant and refugee children, supportive relationships in the new context can be particularly beneficial. We expected that supportive school relationships play a protective role for the school adjustment of first‐generation immigrant and refugee and non‐immigrant children, by moderating the effect of one acculturative challenge (i.e., school language proficiency). Aims: We investigated the moderating roles of teacher–child and peer relationship quality on the association between German language proficiency and school adjustment (i.e., school achievement and belongingness) among first‐generation immigrant and refugee and non‐immigrant children. Sample: We recruited n = 278 fourth grade children (Mage = 10.47, SDage =.55, 53.24% female; 37% first‐generation immigrant and refugee children). Methods: Questionnaires assessed children's reported teacher–child and peer relationship quality and school belongingness. One vocabulary test measured children's German proficiency. School achievement was assessed by their grade point average (GPA) and by a reading comprehension test. To investigate our hypotheses, we performed path analyses. Results: Teacher–child relationship mitigated the effect of German proficiency on children's reading comprehension among all children and on GPA among immigrant and refugee children only. Peer relationship buffered the negative effect of German proficiency on school belongingness. Conclusions: Teacher–child and peer relationship quality can be beneficial for the school adjustment of both first‐generation immigrant and refugee children and non‐immigrant children. Social and emotional learning (SEL) enhances children's academic and life achievements when implemented well. While previous studies explored factors influencing teachers' implementation of SEL, limited attention has been given to the role of their social and emotional competence (SEC). To address this gap, this study analyzed surveys from 434 primary school teachers in Malawi using hierarchical linear modeling. The findings reveal a positive relationship between teachers' SEC, specifically in emotion regulation and relationship management, and their integration of SEL in daily classroom instruction. Notably, teachers serve as behavioral role models through socialization, communication, and emotional conduct. Strengthening teachers' SEC, in conjunction with SEL pedagogy training, could help foster SEL-rich school environments for learners in Malawi and similar contexts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
