7. Subgraph Extraction-based Feedback-guided Iterative Scheduling for HLS

Abstract

This paper proposes ISDC, a novel feedback-guided iterative system of difference constraints (SDC) scheduling algorithm for high-level synthesis (HLS). ISDC leverages subgraph extraction-based low-level feedback from downstream tools like logic synthesizers to iteratively refine HLS scheduling. Technical innovations include: (1) An enhanced SDC formulation that effectively integrates low-level feedback into the linear-programming (LP) problem; (2) A fanout and window-based subgraph extraction mechanism driving the feedback cycle; (3) A no-human-in-loop ISDC flow compatible with a wide range of downstream tools and process design kits (PDKs). 8. Blended Learning on WeChat Platform-Based SPOC in Lower-Secondary School Science Teaching

Abstract

This paper proposes a blended teaching design model on WeChat Platform-based SPOC and carries out an empirical study of its applicability and effectiveness in lower-secondary school science teaching. Participants were from two eighth grade classes with different academic performance, and after conducting the same blended teaching, it was found that pre-class knowledge transmission on the WeChat platform considerably enhanced students' classroom participation, which was also highly related to their improved post-class test scores. The improvement in the performance of the weak groups is more obvious. In addition, backend data from the WeChat platform revealed that the number of resource clicks was significantly higher than the total number of students, indicating that the sharing function of the WeChat platform facilitated the sharing of educational resources. Seven in-service science teachers were also interviewed to qualitatively evaluate and analyze the teaching model from the perspective of in-service teachers. The comprehensive results indicate that the teaching model constructed in this study achieves good results, facilitates the development of students' independent learning ability, and allows for the integration of this blended teaching model into lower-secondary curriculum.

Abstract

BackgroundThe accurate identification of the functional elements in the bovine genome is a fundamental requirement for high-quality analysis of data informing both genome biology and genomic selection. Functional annotation of the bovine genome was performed to identify a more complete catalog of transcript isoforms across bovine tissues.ResultsA total of 160,820 unique transcripts (50% protein coding) representing 34,882 unique genes (60% protein coding) were identified across tissues. Among them, 118,563 transcripts (73% of the total) were structurally validated by independent datasets (PacBio isoform sequencing data, Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing data, de novo assembled transcripts from RNA sequencing data) and comparison with Ensembl and NCBI gene sets. In addition, all transcripts were supported by extensive data from different technologies such as whole transcriptome termini site sequencing, RNA Annotation and Mapping of Promoters for the Analysis of Gene Expression, chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing, and assay for transposase-accessible chromatin using sequencing. A large proportion of identified transcripts (69%) were unannotated, of which 86% were produced by annotated genes and 14% by unannotated genes. A median of two 5' untranslated regions were expressed per gene. Around 50% of protein-coding genes in each tissue were bifunctional and transcribed both coding and noncoding isoforms. Furthermore, we identified 3,744 genes that functioned as noncoding genes in fetal tissues but as protein-coding genes in adult tissues. Our new bovine genome annotation extended more than 11,000 annotated gene borders compared to Ensembl or NCBI annotations. The resulting bovine transcriptome was integrated with publicly available quantitative trait loci data to study tissue-tissue interconnection involved in different traits and construct the first bovine trait similarity network.ConclusionsThese validated results show significant improvement over current bovine genome annotations.

Abstract

Getting close to birds is a great challenge in wildlife photography. Bird photography blinds may be the most effective and least intrusive way if properly designed. However, the acoustic design of the blinds has been overlooked so far. Herein, we present noise-cancelling blinds which allow photographing birds at close range. Firstly, we conduct a questionnaire in the eco-tourism centre located in Yunnan, China. Thus, we determine the birders' expectations of the indoor sound environment. We then identify diverse variables to examine the impact of architectural and acoustic decisions on noise propagation. Finally, we examine the acoustic performance of the blinds by considering the birds' hearing threshold. The numerical simulations are performed in the acoustics module of Comsol MultiPhysics. Abstract

Background: This research aimed to observe the mechanism of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and interleukin 8 (IL8) in pancreatic cancer pain and their correlation with pain degree. Methods: 126 patients with pancreatic cancer who visited our hospital from January 2021 to February 2023 were selected. The patients were divided into groups of 58 patients with low pain (1~3 points) and 68 patients with high pain (4~10 points) by visual analog scale (VAS). And 50 health examinees in the same period were selected as the healthy control group. The serum LDH and IL-8 concentrations are analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and the subjective pain grading method score is analyzed. The differences in LDH and IL-8 concentrations among the three groups of patients were compared. Pearson correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation between LDH, IL-8 concentrations, and patient pain. Binary logistic regression was used to determine independent risk factors for high pain, and ROC curves were used to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of each indicator. Results: The serum LDH and IL-8 concentrations in the high-pain group were exceed the low-pain group's (P190 U/L, IL-8 is >36 pg/mL, and the relevant standards for prediction models are >5.75. Conclusions: LDH and IL-8 participate in the pain aggravation process of pancreatic cancer and are closely related to the pain grading. The combination of LDH and IL-8 can be used as a biological indicator to evaluate the pain severity of pancreatic cancer and provide a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract

Crowd counting on the drone platform is an interesting topic in computer vision, which brings new challenges such as small object inference, background clutter and wide viewpoint. However, there are few algorithms focusing on crowd counting on the drone-captured data due to the lack of comprehensive datasets. To this end, we collect a large-scale dataset and organize the Vision Meets Drone Crowd Counting Challenge (VisDrone-CC2020) in conjunction with the 16th European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV 2020) to promote the developments in the related fields. The collected dataset is formed by $3,360$ images, including $2,460$ images for training, and $900$ images for testing. Specifically, we manually annotate persons with points in each video frame. There are $14$ algorithms from $15$ institutes submitted to the VisDrone-CC2020 Challenge. We provide a detailed analysis of the evaluation results and conclude the challenge.
