Collaborative project delivery models (CPDM) have been introduced in infrastructure construc-tion delivery to improve project outcomes and reduce adversity characteristic for the field.Recent research discusses the interaction of formal and informal governance but highlights theneed for further research into the interaction as well as its functions and dysfunctions. Withhelp of a social network lens, we study how collaboration in a CPDM can be understood by theinteraction of formal and formal ties and their (dys)functions. Based on 45 in-depth interviews,observations and document analysis, we studied two major infrastructure construction projectsutilising a CPDM and the challenges caused by the interaction of formal and informal ties. Ourresults indicate that these two types of ties interact in a cyclic fashion, where formal ties formthe foundation to develop informal ties, and informal ties shape how formal ties are understood.Strong formal and informal ties have both positive as well as negative consequences for collab-oration in a CPDM. Furthermore, although these challenges can be beneficial to certain partiesin the project, they can also be dysfunctional to other parties. The research contributes to theacademic debate on the interplay between formal and formal ties.

The energy transition affects the construction sector through requirements to reduce energy demand and fossil fuel dependency. This highlights the significance of implementing energy innovation in buildings, focusing on client and their internal strategies and capabilities to drive innovation. Network perspectives are important when exploring client-driven innovation since the client cannot innovate alone. Therefore, a business ecosystem lens was applied to study a public client's strategy to coordinate and collaborate with partners in construction projects implementing innovation. Interviews were conducted with 25 client representatives and partners from four regular projects implementing innovation. This data was qualitatively explored to map business ecosystem elements required to co-create value. A longterm overview of the cases shows a client's continuous work to implement energy innovations. The results show a client strategy that contains securing innovationspecific expertise and shaping procurement and contracts for cooperation and R&D inclusion. Also, establishing long-term partnerships and routines for building knowledge between projects supports continuous development. We contribute to construction management literature by applying an ecosystem lens to client strategy for innovation implementation in business ecosystems.

Waste management in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry has been a major research topic owing to the AEC industry being one of the top contributors of waste generation. However, research has primarily focused on new build and has neglected refurbishment projects which become relevant due to an aging building stock in Sweden and Europe. Various actors are involved in refurbishment projects which makes it important to study each actor as well as tensions between them. By using a service ecosystem perspective and relying on 38 interviews, this paper aims to investigate tensions and barriers between actors within the service ecosystem of CDW for refurbishment projects in Sweden. Based on the results, spatial barriers are the most mentioned barrier which also create the highest number of tensions between project and contractor mother firm, subcontractors, waste recycling firms and society/citizens. The majority of the tensions are found between projects and the contractor mother firms, followed by tensions between projects and clients and projects and subcontractors. Collaborative project delivery models (CPDMs) are increasing in popularity as infrastructure con-struction projects become more complex and grow in scale and scope. CPDMs build on highlevels of trust, information exchange and formal contractual relations, creating complex relation-ships between actors in the project network. The literature emphasizes the procurement phaseand contractual aspects of CPDMs; however, few studies explicitly focus on the role of socialrelationships in CPDM projects. Social network theory has recently been introduced in the archi-tecture, engineering and construction industry industry to study relationships between networkactors, but the role of social ties within CPDM project networks is still unclear. Through twoqualitative case studies, we have analyzed the role of social ties in projects applying a CPDMcontract. The empirical evidence of 41 semi-structured interviews and observations points toaspects that affect the development of social ties in CPDMs, such as initial project setup, projectidentification, perception of actors, resource sharing and shared space, as well as the importanceof formal and informal ties for supporting collaborative project practices. The evidence showshow social ties develop into negative or positive bonds affecting the level of collaboration. Projektet har avsett att tydliggöra nyttan, behovet och förutsättningar av att använda samordningsmodeller och ett integrerat arbetssätt. Studien syftade därmed till att ta fram en kunskapsbas genom att fördjupat undersöka integrerat arbetssätt. Kunskapsbasen har hämtats från en översyn av litteraturen, intervjuer med olika aktörer, en mindre enkät inom Trafikverket samt en workshop med leverantörer och beställaren om modellen i centrum. Projektet har kommit fram med en kartläggning och identifiering av nyttor för modellorienterad projektering och integrerat arbetssätt. Studien har kartlagt olika förutsättningar inom teknik, organisation, process och juridik som behövs för att kunna arbeta med ett modellorienterat och integrerat arbetssätt. BIM is claimed to be one of the most promising developments in the industry and many researchers and practitioners seem to agree on BIM’s potential applicability in- and benefits for construction. However, what the potential, or full potential is, is a bit unclear. As well as for other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), an objective full potential for BIM does not exist due to technology and knowledge development. But is there some alternative concept instead of potential that better captures the technology’s enabling features and the interpretive dimensions? The concept of IT-affordance has been used to describe the appropriation of open ended flexible technologies and is described as: a potential for action that emerges out of the interrelationships among the technical features of a system, people’s ability and predisposition to use these features in certain ways, and the organizational context within which this takes place. The aim of the paper is to explore how the combination of technology’s features, people’s abilities and predispositions, and the organizational context influence the perceived potential for action (PPA). This is achieved by a survey to three different groups: practitioners with and without experience of BIM-use, and final year’s bachelor students in civil engineering. It is concluded that experience of technology has a positive impact on PPA, but a combination of experiences from BIM use in practice and circumstances in practice has a strong negative moderating effect on users PPA. Among practitioners with experience of BIM, the PPA is aligned with the project logic. This is, PPA is strongly predicted by perceptions of BIM as mean for supporting decisions for cost reduction, at the same time as lack of internal competence is perceived as a constraint.
