Abstract Background and aims Previous studies have confirmed that alcohol can increase the sensitivity of the pancreas to stressors and exacerbate the severity of pancreatitis when excessive alcohol intake is combined with other causes. In the current work, this study attempted to explore how does alcohol regulate cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis, especially before inflammation occurs. Methods Proteomics was performed to analyze the differentially expressed proteins in pancreatic tissues from a rat model of pancreatitis. The metabolite levels in the pancreatic tissue, serum of rats and serum of persons with a history of alcohol consumption were detected by LC‒MS/MS. In the present study the impact of etomoxir (a carnitine palmitoyl-transferase 1A-specific inhibitor) treatment on AR42J cells treated with alcohol and the effect of etomoxir injection on the inflammatory response in an alcohol + cerulein-induced AAP rat model was evaluated. Results When treated with the same amount of cerulein, the rats that ingested alcohol presented with more severe pancreatitis. The proteomics results revealed that the fatty acid degradation pathway was closely related to the development of alcoholic acute pancreatitis, and CPT1A exhibited the greatest increase (approximately twofold increase). The products (acylcarnitines) of CPT1A were changed in the serum of persons with a history of alcohol consumption. Etomoxir treatment mitigates the influence of alcohol stimulation on the aberrant expression of proteins associated with oxidative stress, increased ROS production, mitochondrial ultrastructural alterations and mitochondrial dysfunction in AR42J cells. Etomoxir injection reduced the inflammatory response in the AAP rat model. Conclusion Alcohol upregulates CPT1A protein expression in pancreatic tissue, resulting in abnormal lipid metabolism. The products of lipid metabolism, ROS, contribute to mitochondrial ultrastructural alterations and mitochondrial dysfunction. These changes act as sentinel events that regulate acute pancreatitis.

Abstract Human–robot collaboration (HRC) is a novel manufacturing paradigm designed to fully leverage the advantage of humans and robots, efficiently and flexibly accomplishing customized manufacturing tasks. However, existing HRC systems lack the transfer and generalization capability for environment perception and task reasoning. These limitations manifest in: (1) current methods rely on specialized models to perceive scenes; and need retraining the model when facing unseen objects. (2) current methods only address predefined tasks, and cannot support undefined task reasoning. To avoid these limitations, this paper proposes a novel HRC approach based on Foundation Models (FMs), including Large Language models (LLMs) and Vision Foundation Models (VFMs). Specifically, a LLMs-based task reasoning method is introduced, utilizing prompt learning to transfer LLMs into the domain of HRC tasks, supporting undefined task reasoning. A VFMs-based scene semantic perception method is proposed, integrating various VFMs to achieve scene perception without training. Finally, a FMs-based HRC system is developed, comprising perception, reasoning, and execution modules for more flexible and generalized HRC. The superior performances of FMs in perception and reasoning are demonstrated by extensive experiments. Furthermore, the feasibility and effectiveness of the FMs-based HRC system are validated through an part assembly case involving a satellite component model.

Technologies are essential for reducing environmental impact and increasing agricultural productivity. Previous adoption studies indicate several socioeconomic, technological, and institutional variables influencing the adoption of agricultural technologies. With less than a decade to the United Nation's sustainable development agenda for 2030, there are yet reports on farmers' resistance to sustainable agricultural technologies. Using a survey and multistage sampling procedure in selecting the respondents of 405 smallholder Chinese farmers, the study models farmers' adoption intensity of sustainable agricultural technologies and their impact on productivity. A 5-point Likert scale was used to analyse farmers' SAT perception levels. The PSM was used to eliminate a major proportion of bias when estimating a more precise treatment effect or impact of SAT adoption on productivity. The findings showed that farmers have mixed perceptions (positive and negative) about SAT adoption, which is reflected in their adoption decisions. The study found that family members as extension officers positively impacted farmers' adoption behaviour. On the contrary, regular visits by agricultural extension services had no impact on farmers' adoption behaviour, but positive on productivity. The results clearly showed elements of constraints in farmers' decision-making. The ATT results showed a significant and positive impact of SATs' adoption on productivity.

Background Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent complication of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Previous investigations have revealed the involvement of FTO alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase (FTO) and aquaporin 3 (AQP3) in AKI. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explore the association of FTO and AQP3 on proximal tubular epithelial cell damage in SAP-induced AKI.Methods An in-vitro AKI model was established in human proximal tubular epithelial cells (PTECs) HK-2 via tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) induction (20 ng/mL), after which FTO and AQP3 expression was manipulated and quantified by quantitative real-time PCR and Western blotting. The viability and apoptosis of PTECs under various conditions, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malonaldehyde (MDA) levels within these cells were measured using commercial assay kits and flow cytometry. Methylated RNA immunoprecipitation and mRNA stability assays were performed to elucidate the mechanism of FTO-mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification. Western blotting was performed to quantify β-catenin protein levels in the PTECs.Results FTO overexpression attenuated the TNF-α-induced decrease in viability and SOD levels, elevated apoptosis, increased levels of ROS and MDA, and diminished TNF-α-induced AQP3 expression and reduced β-catenin expression, but its silencing led to contradictory results. FTO negatively modulates AQP3 levels in RTECs in an m6A-depednent manner and compromises AQP3 stability. In addition, all FTO overexpression-induced effects in TNF-α-induced PTECs were neutralized following AQP3 upregulation.Conclusion FTO alleviates TNF-α-induced damage to PTECs in vitro by targeting AQP3 in an m6A-dependent manner.

Objective This study aims to explore the current cognitive status and identify risk factors associated with cognitive function in Tibetan hypertensive patients living at various altitudes.Methods The Simple Mental Status Scale (MMSE) was used to evaluate the cognitive function of 611 Tibetan hypertensive patients at various altitudes in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Afterward, we conducted an analysis to identify the factors influencing their cognitive function.Results The study found that the prevalence of cognitive dysfunction was 22.3%, with a higher incidence at high altitude (group D 29.0%) compared to low altitude (group A 16.0%). The study conducted a binary logistic regression analysis to identify the risk factors for cognitive dysfunction. The analysis revealed that altitude, age, body mass index, marital status, education, income level, and blood pressure control level were all significant risk factors. Globally, agriculture is experiencing sustainability challenges including excessive use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, synthetic inputs, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change, etc. In countries like China, farmers have experienced changes in the rainfall pattern and extreme heat and cold. Accordingly, agricultural sustainability policies support sustainable practices like integrated pest management, improved nutrient management, agroforestry systems, crop rotation, no tillage, conservation efforts, and the use of organic manure and fertilizer, as well as sustainable technologies, inputs, and innovations as a mitigation measure. However, there is little information available on farmers practices, and the concept of sustainable farming is dimly understood, resulting in divergent views among numerous stakeholders, particularly farmers, about what exactly defines sustainable agriculture. As a result, the necessity for sustainable agriculture is becoming a problem. The study therefore aims to measure smallholder farmers’ adherence to sustainable agricultural practices and assess the factors that influence farmers’ adherence to sustainable practices. Survey approach was adopted to collect data from 405 smallholder farmers using sustainable agricultural technologies to measure farmer’s adherence to the practices. Using multivariate probit analysis, the study discovered that whereas gender had no significant impact on farmers’ adherence, age had a substantial impact. Income had favourable correlation with the sustainable practices, but not significant with overall adherence. Remarkably, farmers’ commitment to adhere was encouraged by their neighbours’ activities, organic farming methods, and farmers who had engaged in organic farming. Farmers’ adherence was affected by farmers’ concern about facing penalties from market regulators or the government, but not for monitoring and regulation. Lastly, even though the smallholder farmers thought that implementing sustainable practices was essential to achieving sustainable agriculture, this did not alter their will to do so.

This is an article in the field of process mineralogy. In order to solve the problem of color spot impurity sorting in high-purity mica, a sorting method of mica containing impurities based on image processing is proposed in this article. According to the state of color spot impurities of mica under different light sources, the influence of image illumination environment is studied. On this basis, the processing methods such as Gaussian filtering and Canny edge detection are studied. Finally, the image recognition and discrimination of mica ores are realized accurately, and good results are obtained in the recognition of three different types of mica ores.

Abstract Tea plant [Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze] is one of the important foliar cash crops in China, and its root system absorbs heavy metal (HM) elements enriched in the soil and transports them to the over ground part. In order to ensure the safety of the soil ecological environment and tea raw materials in the tea production area, the HM contents of soil and tea plant leaves in Suzhou tea plantations were detected, the relationship between HMs and soil physicochemical properties was analyzed, and the ecological risk of HMs in tea plantation soils was evaluated by using relevant detection techniques and evaluation models. The results showed that the average pH of tea plantation soils around Tai Lake in Suzhou was within the range suitable for the growth of tea plants. The pH, soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and available potassium of tea plantation soil satisfying the requirements of high quality, high efficiency and high yield (‘3H’) tea plantation accounted for 47.06%, 26.47%, 8.82%, 79.41% and 67.65%, respectively. Site 2 fully met the requirements of ‘3H’ tea plantation. In addition, the contents of cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg) were extremely variable, and the average contents exceeded the background value of soil in Jiangsu Province, but the HM contents of tea leaves all met the pollution-free standard, and the HM contents of tea leaves around Tai Lake in Suzhou were generally at a safe level. The composite ecological risk index ranged from 0.05 to 0.60, and 32 of the 34 sample sites (except site 21 and site 23) are the most suitable agricultural land for tea plantations.

Advances in manufacturing technology are allowing for the realization of interaction circuit with microstructures. The capability to produce small circuit structures is allowing new opportunities for vacuum electronic devices producing terahertz (THz) frequency radiation, which is impractical with traditional machining technology. This publication reviews recent progress on advanced microfabrication technologies applicable to interaction circuits of THz vacuum electronic devices, including LIGA/UV-LIGA (Ultraviolet Lithographic, Galvonoformung and Abformung), deep reactive ion etching (DRIE), micro/nano computer numerical control (CNC) milling, three-dimension (3D) printing, etc., and describes the current State-of-the-Art of their applications.

ObjectiveTo develop a model that integrates radiomics features and clinical factors to predict upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) in patients with decompensated cirrhosis.Methods104 decompensated cirrhosis patients with UGIB and 104 decompensated cirrhosis patients without UGIB were randomized according to a 7:3 ratio into a training cohort (n = 145) and a validation cohort (n = 63). Radiomics features of the abdominal skeletal muscle area (SMA) were extracted from the cross-sectional image at the largest level of the third lumbar vertebrae (L3) on the abdominal unenhanced multi-detector computer tomography (MDCT) images. Clinical-radiomics nomogram were constructed by combining a radiomics signature (Rad score) with clinical independent risk factors associated with UGIB. Nomogram performance was evaluated in calibration, discrimination, and clinical utility.ResultsThe radiomics signature was built using 11 features. Plasma prothrombin time (PT), sarcopenia, and Rad score were independent predictors of the risk of UGIB in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. The clinical-radiomics nomogram performed well in both the training cohort (AUC, 0.902; 95% CI, 0.850–0.954) and the validation cohort (AUC, 0.858; 95% CI, 0.762–0.953) compared with the clinical factor model and the radiomics model and displayed excellent calibration in the training cohort. Decision curve analysis (DCA) demonstrated that the predictive efficacy of the clinical-radiomics nomogram model was superior to that of the clinical and radiomics model.ConclusionClinical-radiomics nomogram that combines clinical factors and radiomics features has demonstrated favorable predictive effects in predicting the occurrence of UGIB in patients with decompensated cirrhosis. This helps in early diagnosis and treatment of the disease, warranting further exploration and research.

Abstract Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been categorized as a form of inflammatory cell death mode of neutrophils (NETosis) involved in natural immunity and the regulation of adaptive immunity. More and more studies revealed the ability of NETs to reshape the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) by limiting antitumor effector cells, which may impair the efficacy of immunotherapy. To explore whether NETs-related genes make vital impacts on Colon carcinoma (COAD), we have carried out a systematic analysis and showed several findings in the present work. First, we obtained the patient's data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) dataset, aiming to detect two NETs-associated subtypes by consensus clustering. For the purpose of annotating the roles of NETs-related pathways, gene ontology enrichment analyses were adopted. Next, we constructed a 6 novel NETs-related genes score using the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) Cox regression model. We found that the NETs risk score was notably upregulated in COAD patient samples, and its levels were notably correlated with tumor clinicopathological and immune traits. Then, according to NETs-associated molecular subtypes and the risk signature, this study compared immune cell infiltration calculated through the estimate, CIBERSORT, TIMER, ssGSEA algorithms, tumor immune dysfunction, as well as exclusion (TIDE). Furthermore, we confirm that MPO(myeloperoxidase) was significantly upregulated in COAD patient samples, and its levels were significantly linked to tumor malignancy and clinic outcome. Moreover, multiplex immunohistochemistry (mIHC) spatial analysis confirmed that MPO was closely related to Treg and PD-1 + Treg in spatial location which suggested MPO may paly an important role in TIME formation. Altogether, the obtained results indicated that a six NETs-related genes prognostic signature was conducive to estimating the prognosis and response of chemo-/immuno-therapy of COAD patients.

Abstract Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a common and life-threatening digestive disorder. However, its diagnosis and treatment are still impeded by our limited understanding of its etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations, as well as by the available detection methods. Fortunately, the progress of microenvironment-targeted nanoplatforms has shown their remarkable potential to change the status quo. The pancreatic inflammatory microenvironment is typically characterized by low pH, abundant reactive oxygen species (ROS) and enzymes, overproduction of inflammatory cells, and hypoxia, which exacerbate the pathological development of AP but also provide potential targeting sites for nanoagents to achieve early diagnosis and treatment. This review elaborates the various potential targets of the inflammatory microenvironment of AP and summarizes in detail the prospects for the development and application of functional nanomaterials for specific targets. Additionally, it presents the challenges and future trends to develop multifunctional targeted nanomaterials for the early diagnosis and effective treatment of AP, providing a valuable reference for future research. The unique diffractive properties of gratings have made them essential in a wide range of applications, including spectral analysis, precision measurement, optical data storage, laser technology, and biomedical imaging. With advancements in micro- and nanotechnologies, the demand for more precise and efficient grating fabrication has increased. This review discusses the latest advancements in grating manufacturing techniques, particularly highlighting laser interference lithography, which excels in sub-beam generation through wavefront and amplitude division. Techniques such as Lloyd’s mirror configurations produce stable interference fringe fields for grating patterning in a single exposure. Orthogonal and non-orthogonal, two-axis Lloyd’s mirror interferometers have advanced the fabrication of two-dimensional gratings and large-area gratings, respectively, while laser interference combined with concave lenses enables the creation of concave gratings. Grating interferometry, utilizing optical interference principles, allows for highly precise measurements of minute displacements at the nanometer to sub-nanometer scale. This review also examines the application of grating interferometry in high-precision, absolute, and multi-degree-of-freedom measurement systems. Progress in grating fabrication has significantly advanced spectrometer technology, with integrated structures such as concave gratings, Fresnel gratings, and grating–microlens arrays driving the miniaturization of spectrometers and expanding their use in compact analytical instruments.

ObjectivesHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria that infects the stomach lining, and it is a major cause of chronic gastritis (CG). H. pylori infection can influence the composition of the gastric microbiota. Additionally, alterations in the gut microbiome have been associated with various health conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders. The dysbiosis in gut microbiota of human is associated with the decreased secretion of gastric acid. Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) and H. pylori infection are also causes of reduced gastric acid secretion. However, the specific details of how H. pylori infection and CG, especially for CAG, influence the gut microbiome can vary and are still an area of ongoing investigation. The incidence of CAG and infection rate of H. pylori has obvious regional characteristics, and Fujian Province in China is a high incidence area of CAG as well as H. pylori infection. We aimed to characterize the microbial changes and find potential diagnostic markers associated with infection of H. pylori as well as CG of subjects in Jinjiang City, Fujian Province, China.ParticipantsEnrollment involved sequencing the 16S rRNA gene in fecal samples from 176 cases, adhering to stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria. For our study, we included healthy volunteers (Normal), individuals with chronic non-atrophic gastritis (CNAG), and those with CAG from Fujian, China. The aim was to assess gut microbiome dysbiosis based on various histopathological features. QIIME and LEfSe analyses were performed. There were 176 cases, comprising 126 individuals who tested negative for H. pylori and 50 who tested positive defined by C14 urea breath tests and histopathological findings in biopsies obtained through endoscopy. CAG was also staged by applying OLGIM system.ResultsWhen merging the outcomes from 16S rRNA gene sequencing results, there were no notable variations in alpha diversity among the following groups: Normal, CNAG, and CAG; OLGIM I and OLGIM II; and H. pylori positive [Hp (+)] and H. pylori negative [Hp (–)] groups. Beta diversity among different groups show significant separation through the NMDS diagrams. LEfSe analyses confirmed 2, 3, and 6 bacterial species were in abundance in the Normal, CNAG, and CAG groups; 26 and 2 species in the OLGIM I and OLGIM II group; 22 significant phylotypes were identified in Hp (+) and Hp (–) group, 21 and 1, respectively; 9 bacterial species exhibited significant differences between individuals with CG who were Hp (+) and those who were Hp (–).ConclusionThe study uncovered notable distinctions in the characteristics of gut microbiota among the following groups: Normal, CNAG, and CAG; OLGIM I and OLGIM II; and Hp (+) and Hp (–) groups. Through the analysis of H. pylori infection in CNAG and CAG groups, we found the gut microbiota characteristics of different group show significant difference because of H. pylori infection. Several bacterial genera could potentially serve as diagnostic markers for H. pylori infection and the progression of CG.

The Jiaodong gold province, situated in the southeastern margin of the North China Craton, is globally renowned for its substantial gold reserves exceeding 5,000 tonnes. The Zhaoxian gold deposit is part of the significant Jiaojia gold belt within the Jiaodong gold province. Fieldwork has identified four distinct stages of ore formation in this study: an early barren quartz vein stage (Stage 1) containing fine-grained pyrite; a gold-bearing stage (Stage 2) consisting of quartz, pyrite, and native gold; a polymetallic sulfide-rich stage (Stage 3) comprising quartz, polymetallic sulfides, and native gold; and a late-stage (Stage 4) primarily composed of quartz and calcite with minimal pyrite content. We conducted fluid inclusion analysis using microthermometry and Raman spectroscopy techniques to examine the fluid characteristics. In-situ analysis of trace elements in pyrite was performed to investigate the fluid composition and evolution. Additionally, we determined the sulfur isotope composition in pyrite to analyze the source of sulfur. Our findings indicate that the ore-forming fluid in the Zhaoxian gold deposit belongs to a medium-to-low-salinity H₂O-NaCl-CO₂-CH₄ system. Fluctuations in Au and As concentrations observed along with oscillating zones and sulfide inclusions during Stage 2 suggest potential fluid boiling processes occurring during mineralization. High concentrations of Ag, Cu, Zn, Cd, In, Pb, and Bi without oscillating zones during Stage 3 imply precipitation of polymetallic sulfides under stable fluid conditions. The δ34S values observed in the Zhaoxian gold deposit are slightly higher than those found in granitoids from other areas within Jiaodong but similar to those seen in other deposits within the Jiaojia gold belt region. In conclusion, magmatic-hydrothermal ore-forming fluids were involved along with significant fluid-rock interaction during metallogenic processes of the Zhaoxian gold deposit.

Leaf spreading is a key processing step that affects the aroma formation of green tea. The effects of a single-light wavelength on the aroma and taste of tea have been extensively studied. Less attention has been paid to the effect of different complex light intensities on the formation of green tea’s volatile aroma during leaf spreading. The current study was designed to evaluate how leaf spreading under different complex light intensities relates to the quality of green tea. Using headspace solid-phase micro-extraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME/GC-MS), volatile flavor compounds in green tea were analyzed during leaf spreading in five different light conditions. Multivariate statistical analysis and odor activity values (OAVs) were used to classify these samples and identify key odors. Eight distinct groups, including ninety volatile compounds, were detected. The most prevalent volatile compounds found in green tea samples were hydrocarbons and alcohols, which accounted for 29% and 22% of the total volatile compounds, respectively. Fourteen volatile compounds (OAV > 1) were identified as key active differential odorants. The chestnut-like aroma in green tea was mostly derived from 3-methyl-butanal and linalool, which were significantly accumulated in medium-intensity light (ML).

It is of great significance to explore the molecular mechanism of gametophytic sexual reproduction in the genetic improvement and breeding of tea plants [Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze]. Imported beta family members (IMBs) are a class of widely distributed nucleoplasmic transport receptor proteins in eukaryotes, affecting plant development and reproduction, and participating in flowering time and sexual reproduction. Still missing, though, is a thorough examination of IMB members in tea plants. Here, seven members of the IMB gene family were screened by a genome-wide investigation in tea plants. These members were scattered unevenly throughout five chromosomes. All of them contained the conserved KAP95 and HEAT Repeat domains. Additionally, the promoter regions of CsIMBs harbored cis-acting elements associated with plant hormones, light, and abiotic stress responses. In order to further confirm the function of CsIMBs in the sexual reproduction of tea plants, the expression patterns of CsIMBs in different flower development stages and the ovary (before and after pollination) were analyzed. The expression results highlighted that CsIMBs were related to the fertility and fruiting of tea plants. Furthermore, five of the seven CsIMBs (CsIMB1a, CsIMB1b, CsIMB2, CsIMB3a, and CsIMB3b) were found to be localized in the nucleus revealed by subcellular localization analysis. These results offer a comprehensive characterization of IMB genes as well as insights into the potential roles of CsIMBs participating in the gametophytic sexual reproduction of C. sinensis.

Agriculture in China is undergoing a swift transformation to modify labour relocation. This change is spearheaded by commercial farms and other Chinese government interventions thereby promoting agricultural production and rural growth. The input-dependent industrial model of agriculture is also considered in conflict with attaining a safe and healthy environment for its inhabitants. The current approaches initiated in the tea sector have witnessed several enriched sustainable agricultural technologies (SATs). The SATs seek to increase yield while ensuring agricultural sustainability via ecological strategies. However, reports have shown farmers have low desire resulting in a lower acceptance rate of SATs among Chinese farmers. We provide a systematic review with a focus on the key determinants of SATs adoption rate in tea production in China from 2000 to 2022. The results revealed the significance and suitability of different approaches in establishing farmers’ adoption behaviour. The specificity of farmers’ SAT adoption behaviour is essentially not compromised by any codified variables but the interrelationship among the determinants, including socio-demographic, agroecological and environmental, technological, institutional, and social networks, and informational, and farmer behavioural factors. We recommend that the government increase awareness of SATs to promote public demand for agricultural sustainability, particularly in developing countries.

Tea plant (Camellia sinensis L.) is an economically important beverage crop cultivated worldwide. Tea is the most popular non-alcoholic beverage, which is manufactured from fresh shoots of tea plants. The aroma, taste and color of tea are the most important index for determining tea quality. Manipulating light transmission by shading is the most effective method of improving the nutritional value and sensory qualities of tea. Shading on tea plant enhances the taste and aroma of tea by affecting the synthesis of free amino acids, flavonoids and aromatic compounds. Also, shading can significantly increase the chlorophyll content of tea leaves, leading to enhanced tea leaf coloration. Thus, the expression of genes related to chlorophyll biosynthesis, free amino acids biosynthesis and flavonoids biosynthesis pathways are significantly regulated by shading treatment to increase the overall quality of tea plants. However, the shading-induced regulatory mechanism remains unclear. Therefore, this review summarizes up to date knowledge of the shading effects on chlorophyll, carotenoid and quality-related metabolites biosynthesis for improvement of taste, aroma and color quality of green tea.

The rhizosphere of grown tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze) becomes acidic, and aluminium (Al) toxicity has been identified as a key constraint on plant development in acidic soils. The current study investigated the composition and functions of rhizosphere bacteria as well as soil enzyme activity under different Al stress conditions. The effect of soil pH, soil enzyme activities, the diversity and structure of the rhizosphere bacterial population under various Al concentrations were studied by the pot experiment. All analyses demonstrated that substantial alterations in the activity of soil enzymes and the composition of the bacterial communities in the rhizosphere could only be seen under conditions of extreme Al stress. Soil enzymes were more concentrated in Al concentrations of 100, 150 and 250 µM, respectively. More than 82,000 valid reads were obtained for each replicate, and the abundance of certain genera in the aluminium treated groups were greater than the control group. Lower Al stress attracted Al-tolerant bacteria such as Burkholderia to increase Al stress resistance. These findings revealed that soil enzyme activities and the structure of the rhizosphere bacterial population in tea orchard soil provided tolerance or resistance capability to tea plants for their development under Al stress.

The current challenges for diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) are unclear mechanisms and no effective therapy in clinics. Here, the authors found that the decrease of cardiac retinol dehydrogenase 10 in type 2 diabetes leads to retinol metabolism disorder, cardiac lipid toxicity and cardiomyopathy development, suggesting that correcting the imbalance of cardiac retinol metabolism may be an effective strategy for the treatment of DCM.

Abstract Background Body mass index (BMI) and lipid parameters are the most commonly used anthropometric parameters and biomarkers for assessing nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) risk. This study aimed to assess and quantify the mediating role of traditional and non-traditional lipid parameters on the association between BMI and NAFLD. Method Using data from 14,251 subjects from the NAGALA (NAfld in the Gifu Area, Longitudinal Analysis) study, mediation analyses were performed to explore the roles of traditional [total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)] and non-traditional [non-HDL-C, remnant cholesterol (RC), TC/HDL-C ratio, LDL-C/HDL-C ratio, TG/HDL-C ratio, non-HDL-C/HDL-C ratio, and RC/HDL-C ratio] lipid parameters in the association of BMI with NAFLD and quantify the mediation effect of these lipid parameters on the association of BMI with NAFLD using the percentage of mediation. Abstract Dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is an efficient technique to diagnose transformer faults; however, the imbalance of the sample datasets is frequently observed in DGA, which has become one of the main challenges for accurate fault diagnosis. A generative adversarial network (GAN) model is proposed to realize the data augmentation for addressing these problems. The GAN model is nested by two backpropagation neural networks (BPNN) containing a generator and a discriminator. The generator produces real‐like data and continuously shapes the real‐like data approximate to real data. The discriminator works to distinguish between the real‐like data and the real data until the real‐like data cannot be discriminated. Under this adversarial learning, the generator output obtains the real‐like DGA samples to supplement the minority samples. To verify the diagnosis accuracy after the DGA data augmentation, three typically intelligent models, that is, BPNN, support vector machine (SVM) and deep belief network (DBN) are introduced to establish the diagnostic models. The results show that the recognition accuracy of the minority samples acquires average 30%, 25% and 50% increases for the three models respectively. It is shown that the GAN model well balances the sample datasets and strengthens the performance of the fault diagnostic models.

ObjectiveSeveral recent reports have suggested the use of mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) to assess/predict the risk of developing atherosclerosis, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and poor prognosis in a variety of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The current study aimed to investigate the association of MAP with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and to explore the differences in this association across populations.MethodsThis study used data from the NAGALA study from 1994 to 2016. MAP was calculated as 1/3 systolic blood pressure (SBP) + 2/3 diastolic blood pressure (DBP). Restricted cubic spline (RCS) and logistic regression models were used to examine the correlation of MAP with NAFLD.ResultsThe study population was 14,251 general people undergoing health screening, with a median (interquartile range) age of 42 (36–50) years; among them, 48% were women, and 2,507 (17.59%) were diagnosed with NAFLD. After fully controlling for confounders in the current dataset, MAP was positively and non-linearly associated with NAFLD [(odds ratios (ORs): 1.39, 95% confidence intervals (CIs): 1.15, 1.68); P for non-linearity = 0.024]; the dose-response curve showed that there was a transient saturation effect interval when MAP was between 85 and 95 mmHg, where the risk of NAFLD was neither increased nor decreased. The results of the stratified analysis showed that the risk of NAFLD associated with MAP appeared to be influenced only by age (P-interaction = 0.002), but not by sex, body mass index (BMI), habits of exercise, drinking status, or smoking status (P-interaction > 0.05); further age-stratified RCS analysis showed that the non-linear association between MAP and NAFLD in the young and middle-aged and the middle-aged and elderly populations was consistent with the results of the whole population, whereas, in the elderly population, a U-shaped curve association between MAP and NAFLD was observed, with both low and high MAP increasing the risk of NAFLD.ConclusionIn the general population, MAP was positively and non-linearly associated with NAFLD, and this association only differed significantly by age, but not by sex, BMI, habits of exercise, drinking status, and smoking status.

Acetaminophen (APAP) overdose is a significant cause of drug-induced liver injury and acute liver failure. The diagnosis, screening, and management of APAP-induced liver injury (AILI) is challenging because of the complex mechanisms involved. Starting from the current studies on the mechanisms of AILI, this review focuses on novel findings in the field of diagnosis, screening, and management of AILI. It highlights the current issues that need to be addressed. This review is supposed to summarize the recent research progress and make recommendations for future research.

Astringency has an important impact on the taste quality of tea infusion, a process which occurs when polyphenols complex with salivary proteins to form an impermeable membrane. (-)-Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is the main astringent compound found in green tea and mucin is the main protein present in saliva. Determining the turbidity of EGCG–mucin mixtures is an effective method to quantify the astringency intensity of EGCG solutions. In this study, the effects of taste-related, substances present during green tea infusion, on the turbidity of EGCG–mucin mixtures was investigated under the reacting conditions of a pH value of 5.0, at 37 °C, and for 30 min. The results showed that epicatechins, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, and gallic acid reduced the turbidity of EGCG–mucin mixtures, while rutin increased turbidity. Metal ions increased the turbidity of EGCG–mucin mixtures. These can be arranged by effectiveness as Al3+ > K+ > Mg2+ > Ca2+. Caffeine, theanine, and sodium glutamate all decreased the turbidity values of EGCG–mucin mixtures, but sucrose had a weak effect. Further experiments confirmed that the turbidity of green tea infusion–mucin mixture indicated the astringent intensity of green tea infusion, and that the turbidity was significantly correlated with the contents of tea polyphenols and EGCG.

Currently, 3D reconstruction methods in structured light are generally implemented in a pre-calibrated area. To realize a full-field reconstruction, the calibration plate can be moved to multiple positions in a time-consuming manner, or the whole field can be calibrated with the help of a large calibration plate, which is more costly. In this paper, we address this problem by proposing a method for obtaining a global phase-angle model under a locally calibrated region, and based on this relationship, we investigate and analyze the reconstruction inside and outside of the calibrated zone. The results show that the method can reconstruct the object outside of the calibration zone completely, and can keep the planarity error around 0.1 mm and the sphericity error below 0.06 mm. The method only requires local calibration of the projected fringes at the two calibration positions to realize the 3D reconstruction of the full-field, which makes the method more advantageous.

As the most consumed tea in the world, all kinds of black tea are developed from Wuyi black tea. In this study, quality components, regulatory gene expression, and key enzyme activity during the processing were analyzed to illustrate the taste formation of WBT. Withering mainly affected the content of amino acids, while catechins and tea pigments were most influenced by rolling and the pre-metaphase of fermentation. Notably, regulatory gene expression was significantly down-regulated after withering except for polyphenoloxidase1, polyphenoloxidase2, leucoanthocyanidin dioxygenase, chalcone isomerase, and flavonoid 3′, 5′-hydroxylase. Co-expression of flavonoid pathway genes confirmed similar expression patterns of these genes in the same metabolic pathway. Interestingly, rolling and fermentation anaphase had a great effect on polyphenol oxidase, and fermentation pre-metaphase had the greatest effect on cellulase. Since gene regulation mainly occurs before picking, the influence of chemical reaction was greater during processing. It was speculated that polyphenol oxidase and cellulase, which promoted the transformation of quality components, were the key factors in the quality formation of WBT. The above results provide theoretical basis for the processing of WBT and the reference for producing high-quality black tea.

Angle measurement is an essential component of precision measurement and serves as a crucial prerequisite for high-end manufacturing. It guides the implementation of precision manufacturing and assembly. The current angle measurement methods mainly focus on multiple axes, high precision, and large measurement ranges. This article introduces the technology of angle measurement from the perspectives of single-axis and multi-axis measurement schemes. Firstly, the single-axis measurement scheme is primarily achieved through optical methods, such as encoder discs that measure energy changes and interferometric phase changes, as well as mechanical, electromagnetic, and inertial angle measurement methods, among which interferometric methods offer the highest accuracy, with high cost, and encoder discs provide the largest measurement range with an ordinary price. Secondly, in the multi-axis measurement scheme, autocollimation instruments, including plane mirrors, gratings, and self-designed targets, are the main options. Although grating encoders can achieve three degrees of freedom in angle measurement with an ordinary price, they are limited in terms of measurement range and sensitivity compared to self-designed targets. Lastly, artificial intelligence assistance precision measurement is increasingly being embraced due to significant advancements in computer performance, making it more convenient to identify the relationship between measured values and detection values. In conclusion, angle measurement plays a crucial role in precision manufacturing, and the evolving and improving technologies provide the manufacturing industry with greater choices. The purpose of this review is to help readers quickly find more suitable technical solutions according to current application requirements, such as single/multiple axes, accuracy level, measuring range, budget, etc.

Abstract Background The precise clinical features and etiologic basis of Takotsubo syndrome remain unclear, although an association with emotional or stressful triggers has been recognized. Ventricular septal perforation is a very rare life-threatening complication. Case presentation A 77-year-old female patient presented to the hospital with unrelieved chest tightness and shortness of breath. Three months ago, the patient's electrocardiogram revealed ischemic T wave inversion of the anterior wall, along with an increase in myocardial injury markers. There was no evidence of a ventricular septal defect on echocardiography. The patient was admitted to the respiratory department to treat lung lesions. The electrocardiogram demonstrated dynamic changes following admission, and the myocardial markers returned to normal, but the echocardiography revealed a ventricular septal defect. The initial diagnosis was ventricular septal perforation because of myocardial infarction with acute anterior ST-segment elevation. Coronary angiography revealed no abnormalities, but left ventricular angiography revealed an enlarged apex and VSD, with a right ventricular shunt bundle. Later, cardiac MRI revealed an apical ventricular septal defect. Further inquiry of the patient's medical history revealed that her husband died unexpectedly three months ago, and her daughter was seriously injured in a car accident, causing the patient severe emotional distress. Takotsubo syndrome was then determined in conjunction with the patient's medical history, symptoms, signs, and pertinent examinations. Without using a catheter or a surgical procedure, we managed the patient's medical condition. Two weeks later, the patient was discharged with symptoms improved. Conclusions Takotsubo syndrome is comparable to an acute myocardial infarction on clinical and electrocardiographic examination in the absence of significant coronary disease. Although ventricular septal perforation is most commonly associated with acute myocardial infarction, it can also happen following Takotsubo syndrome. Takotsubo syndrome complicated by ventricular septal perforation is easily misdiagnosed. The early recognition and management of this condition can avoid or reduce morbidity and mortality.

The organic movement have considered itself the growing drive for today’s consumers purchasing behaviour and growing attention from mainstream media. However, it has not fully received the attention to increase the organic tea industry to benefit humanity and natural ecosystems. The effect is that the future is uncertain as current challenges continue to pose threats to the industry. A systematic review was done to examine the overview of organic tea production challenges and prospects within the scope of sustainable farming. The findings showed that the unprecedented challenges are currently facing the global organic tea industry, which includes high competition for agricultural land, convention of organic lands for other purposes and urbanization activities in tea-growing countries. Biotic and abiotic stresses are major limits to agricultural production. Lack of knowledge on organic practices and high input costs affect the adoption of organic farming. However, the growth and new marketing trends in Asia-Pacific is an excellent sustainable indicator. Besides, stakeholders commitment is needed to implement and comply with applicable laws and supports to ensure industry development and sustainability. The current study is the first to have put together literatures on the global challenges and prospects of the organic tea industry within sustainable agriculture.

Abstract Background CPT-11 (irinotecan) is one of the most efficient agents used for colorectal cancer chemotherapy. However, as for many other chemotherapeutic drugs, how to minimize the side effects of CPT-11 still needs to be thoroughly described. Objectives This study aimed to develop the CPT-11-loaded DSPE-PEG 2000 targeting EGFR liposomal delivery system and characterize its targeting specificity and therapeutic effect on colorectal cancer (CRC) cells in vitro and in vivo. Results The synthesized liposome exhibited spherical shapes (84.6 ± 1.2 nm to 150.4 nm ± 0.8 nm of estimated average sizes), good stability, sustained release, and enough drug loading (55.19%). For in vitro experiments, SW620 cells treated with CPT-11-loaded DSPE-PEG2000 targeting EGFR liposome showed lower survival extended level of intracellular ROS production. In addition, it generated an enhanced apoptotic cell rate by upregulating the protein expression of both cleaved-caspase-3 and cleaved-caspase-9 compared with those of SW620 cells treated with free CPT-11. Importantly, the xenograft model showed that both the non-target and EGFR-targeted liposomes significantly inhibited tumor growth compared to free CPT-11. Conclusions Compared with the non-target CPT-11-loaded DSPE-PEG2000 liposome, CPT-11-loaded DSPE-PEG2000 targeting EGFR liposome treatment showed much better antitumor activity in vitro in vivo. Thus, our findings provide new assets and expectations for CRC targeting therapy.

Abstract Objective To compare an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model with a model that combines ARIMA with the Elman recurrent neural network (ARIMA-ERNN) in predicting the incidence of pertussis in mainland China. Background The incidence of pertussis has increased rapidly in mainland China since 2016, making the disease an increasing public health threat. There is a pressing need for models capable of accurately predicting the incidence of pertussis in order to guide prevention and control measures. We developed and compared two models for predicting pertussis incidence in mainland China. Methods Data on the incidence of pertussis in mainland China from 2004 to 2019 were obtained from the official website of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. An ARIMA model was established using SAS (ver. 9.4) software and an ARIMA-ERNN model was established using MATLAB (ver. R2019a) software. The performances of these models were compared. Results From 2004 to 2019, there were 104,837 reported cases of pertussis in mainland China, with an increasing incidence over time. The incidence of pertussis showed obvious seasonal characteristics, with the peak lasting from March to September every year. Compared with the mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the ARIMA model, those of the ARIMA-ERNN model were 81.43%, 95.97% and 80.86% lower, respectively, in fitting performance. In terms of prediction performance, the MAE, MSE and MAPE were 37.75%, 56.88% and 43.75% lower, respectively. Conclusion The fitting and prediction performances of the ARIMA-ERNN model were better than those of the ARIMA model. This provides theoretical support for the prediction of infectious diseases and should be beneficial to public health decision making.

Objectives: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of a booster strategy in the United States. Methods: We developed a decision-analytic Markov model of COVID-19 to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of a booster strategy of the Pfizer-BioNTech BNT162b2 (administered 6 months after the second dose) among older adults from a healthcare system perspective. Results: Compared with 2 doses of BNT162b2 without a booster, the booster strategy in a 100,000 cohort of older adults would incur an additional cost of $3.4 million in vaccination cost but save $6.7 million in direct medical cost and gain 3.7 quality-adjusted life-years in 180 days. This corresponds to a benefit-cost ratio of 1.95 and a net monetary benefit of $3.4 million. Probabilistic sensitivity analysis indicates that a booster strategy has a high chance (67%) of being cost-effective. Notably, the cost-effectiveness of the booster strategy is highly sensitive to the population incidence of COVID-19, with a cost-effectiveness threshold of 8.1/100,000 person-day. If vaccine efficacies reduce by 10%, 30%, and 50%, this threshold will increase to 9.7/100,000, 13.9/100,000, and 21.9/100,000 person-day, respectively. Conclusion: Offering the BNT162b2 booster to older adults aged ≥65 years in the United States is likely to be cost-effective. Less efficacious vaccines and boosters may still be cost-effective in settings of high SARS-CoV-2 transmission.

Abstract Background Resistance of colorectal cancer (CRC) cells to radiotherapy considerably contributes to poor clinical outcomes of CRC patients. Microarray profiling in this study revealed the differentially expressed forkhead box Q1 (FOXQ1) in CRC, and thus we aimed to illustrate the role of FOXQ1 in CRC by modulating stemness and radio-resistance of CRC cells. Methods CRC and adjacent normal tissues were collected from CRC patients, and the correlation between FOXQ1 expression and CRC prognosis was analyzed. Subsequently, we determined the expression of FOXQ1, sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and β-catenin in CRC tissues and cell lines. The binding affinity between FOXQ1 and SIRT1 and that between SIRT1 and β-catenin were validated with luciferase reporter gene, Co-IP and ChIP assays. Following a metagenomics analysis of CRC intestinal microbiota, the effects of the FOXQ1/SIRT1/β-catenin axis on CRC stem cell phenotypes and radio-resistance was evaluated in vitro and in vivo through manipulation of gene expression. Besides, mouse feces were collected to examine changes in intestinal microbiota. Results FOXQ1 was highly expressed in CRC tissues and cells and positively correlated with poor prognosis of CRC patients. FOXQ1 overexpression contributed to resistance of CRC cells to radiation. Knockdown of FOXQ1 inhibited the stemness of CRC cells and reversed their radio-resistance. FOXQ1 enhanced the transcriptional expression of SIRT1, and SIRT1 enhanced the expression and nuclear translocation of β-catenin. Knockdown of FOXQ1 repressed SIRT1 expression, thus reducing the stemness and radio-resistance of CRC cells. Moreover, FOXQ1 knockdown suppressed CRC xenograft formation in xenograft-bearing nude mice through inhibiting SIRT1 and β-catenin to reduce the content of pathological bacteria that were up-regulated in CRC. Conclusion FOXQ1-mediated SIRT1 upregulation augments expression and nuclear translocation of β-catenin and benefits CRC-related intestinal pathological bacterial, thereby enhancing the stemness and radio-resistance of CRC cells.

BackgroundArtificial intelligence-assisted colonoscopy (AIAC) has been proposed and validated in recent years, but the effectiveness of clinic application remains unclear since it was only validated in some clinical trials rather than normal conditions. In addition, previous clinical trials were mostly concerned with colorectal polyp identification, while fewer studies are focusing on adenoma identification and polyps size measurement. In this study, we validated the effectiveness of AIAC in the clinical environment and further investigated its capacity for adenoma identification and polyps size measurement.MethodsThe information of 174 continued patients who went for coloscopy in Chongqing Rongchang District People’s hospital with detected colon polyps was retrospectively collected, and their coloscopy images were divided into three validation datasets, polyps dataset, polyps/adenomas dataset (all containing narrow band image, NBI images), and polyp size measurement dataset (images with biopsy forceps and polyps) to assess the competence of the artificial intelligence system, and compare its diagnostic ability with endoscopists with different experiences.ResultsA total of 174 patients were included, and the sensitivity of the colorectal polyp recognition model was 99.40%, the accuracy of the colorectal adenoma diagnostic model was 93.06%, which was higher than that of endoscopists, and the mean absolute error of the polyp size measurement model was 0.62 mm and the mean relative error was 10.89%, which was lower than that of endoscopists.ConclusionArtificial intelligence-assisted model demonstrated higher competence compared with endoscopists and stable diagnosis ability in clinical use.

Natural products are widely used for treating mitochondrial dysfunction-related diseases and cancers. Curcumin, a well-known natural product, can be potentially used to treat cancer. Human salt-induced kinase 3 (SIK3) is one of the target proteins for curcumin. However, the interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 have not yet been investigated in detail. In this study, we studied the binding models for the interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 using computational tools such as homology modeling, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and binding free energy calculations. The open activity loop conformation of SIK3 with the ketoenol form of curcumin was the optimal binding model. The I72, V80, A93, Y144, A145, and L195 residues played a key role for curcumin binding with human SIK3. The interactions between curcumin and human SIK3 were also investigated using the kinase assay. Moreover, curcumin exhibited an IC50 (half-maximal inhibitory concentration) value of 131 nM, and it showed significant antiproliferative activities of 9.62 ± 0.33 µM and 72.37 ± 0.37 µM against the MCF-7 and MDA-MB-23 cell lines, respectively. This study provides detailed information on the binding of curcumin with human SIK3 and may facilitate the design of novel salt-inducible kinases inhibitors.

ObjectivesLimited efforts have been made to evaluate the effect of multimodal chemotherapy on the survival of gastric cancer patients with liver metastases (LMGC). This study aimed to identify prognostic factors in LMGC patients and the superiority of multimodal chemotherapy with respect to overall survival (OS) in these patients.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study of 1298 patients with M1 stage disease between January 2012 and December 2020. The effects of clinicopathological variables and preoperative chemotherapy (PECT), postoperative chemotherapy (POCT), and palliative chemotherapy on survival in patients with liver metastases (LM group) and non-liver metastases (non-LM group) were compared.ResultsOf the 1298 patients analysed, 546 (42.06%) were in the LM group and 752 (57.94%) were in the non-LM group. The median (interquartile range) age was 60 (51–66) years. The 1-year, 3-year and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates in the LM group were 29.3%, 13.9%, and 9.2%, respectively, and those in the non-LM group were. 38.2%, 17.4%, and 10.0%, respectively (P < 0.05, > 0.05, and > 0.05, respectively.) The Cox proportional hazards model revealed that palliative chemotherapy was a significant independent prognostic factor in both the LM and non-LM groups. Age ≥55 years, N stage, and Lauren classification were also independent predictors of OS in the LM group (P < 0.05). Palliative chemotherapy and POCT were associated with improved OS compared with PECT in the LM group (26.3% vs. 36.4% vs. 25.0%, P < 0.001).ConclusionLMGC patients had a worse prognosis than non- LMGC. Number of metastatic sites more than 1, liver and other metastatic sites, no CT treatment and HER2-negative had a poor prognosis. LMGC patient may benefit more from palliative chemotherapy and POCT than from PECT. Further well-designed, prospective studies are needed to validate these findings.

Tea (Camellia sinensis) is one of the significant cash crops in China. As a leaf crop, nitrogen supply can not only increase the number of new shoots and leaves but also improve the tenderness of the former. However, a conundrum remains in science, which is the molecular mechanism of nitrogen use efficiency, especially long non-coding RNA (lncRNA). In this study, a total of 16,452 lncRNAs were identified through high-throughput sequencing analysis of lateral roots under nitrogen stress and control conditions, of which 9,451 were differentially expressed lncRNAs (DE-lncRNAs). To figure out the potential function of nitrogen-responsive lncRNAs, co-expression clustering was employed between lncRNAs and coding genes. KEGG enrichment analysis revealed nitrogen-responsive lncRNAs may involve in many biological processes such as plant hormone signal transduction, nitrogen metabolism and protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum. The expression abundance of 12 DE-lncRNAs were further verified by RT-PCR, and their expression trends were consistent with the results of RNA-seq. This study expands the research on lncRNAs in tea plants, provides a novel perspective for the potential regulation of lncRNAs on nitrogen stress, and valuable resources for further improving the nitrogen use efficiency of tea plants.

The producing area of Chinese white tea has been expanded to Xinyang and Yunnan from Fuding region. In this study, six sensory tastes and fifty-one chemical components including seventeen phenolic compounds, three purine alkaloids and twenty amino acids were determined in eighteen Bai mudan sub-type of white tea by electronic tongue, high performance liquid chromatography and amino acid analyzer for geographical identification, respectively. A through-transmission ultrasonic method is proposed to address limitations in conventional ultrasonic reflection methods for non-destructive testing of ferrite tiles. The method utilizes a dual-probe configuration on both sides of the test piece to measure ultrasonic transmission signals, overcoming issues related to blind zones and orientation limitations in pulse-echo reflection methods. This method demonstrates excellent capabilities for full inspection of internal and external defects in ferrite tiles. Physical field finite element simulations were conducted to analyze detection capabilities and a transmissive testing system is developed based on the simulation results. Experimental validation was performed on artificially manufactured quantified defect samples in aluminum alloy, and the same testing system was applied to evaluate ferrite tile samples. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the system in distinguishing defective (NG) signals from normal defect-free (OK) signals, with a recall rate of at least 95% on samples of various sizes up to 0.1 mm. This research provides insights for quality control and defect detection technology in ferrite tiles.

The synthesis of tea fatty acids plays a crucial role in determining the oil content of tea seeds and selecting tea tree varieties suitable for harvesting both leaves and fruits. However, there is limited research on fatty acid synthesis in tea trees, and the precise mechanisms influencing tea seed oil content remain elusive. To reveal the fatty acid biosynthesis mechanism, we conducted a photosynthetic characteristic and targeted metabolomics analysis in comparison between Jincha 2 and Wuniuzao cultivars. Our findings revealed that Jincha 2 exhibited significantly higher net photosynthetic rates (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), and transpiration rate (Tr) compared with Wuniuzao, indicating the superior photosynthetic capabilities of Jincha 2. Totally, we identified 94 metabolites with significant changes, including key hormone regulators such as gibberellin A1 (GA1) and indole 3-acetic acid (IAA). Additionally, linolenic acid, methyl dihydrojasmonate, and methylthiobutyric acid, precursors required for fatty acid synthesis, were significantly more abundant in Jincha 2 compared with Wuniuzao. In summary, our research suggests that photosynthetic rates and metabolites contribute to the increased yield, fatty acid synthesis, and oil content observed in Jincha 2 when compared with Wuniuzao.

Most existing multi-channel spectrometers are constructed by physically stacking single-channel spectrometers, resulting in their large size, high weight, and limited number of channels. Therefore, their miniaturization is urgently needed. In this paper, a microlens array grating is designed for miniature multi-channel spectrometers. A transmissive element integrating microlens arrays and gratings, the MLAG, enables simultaneous focusing and dispersion. Using soft lithography, the MLAG was fabricated with a deviation of less than 2.2%. The dimensions are 10 mm × 10 mm × 4 mm with over 2000 available units. The MLAG spectrometer operates in the 400–700 nm wavelength range with a resolution of 6 nm. Additionally, the designed MLAG multi-channel spectrometer is experimentally verified to have independently valid cells that can be used in multichannel spectrometers. The wavelength position repeatability deviation of each cell is about 0.5 nm, and the repeatability of displacement measurements by the chromatic confocal sensor with the designed MLAG multi-channel spectrometer is less than 0.5 μm.

A hybrid strategy is proposed to meet the challenge of obtaining the profile of micro gear teeth with a small modulus. Firstly, the contact probe segmentally obtained the falling flank profiles with an auxiliary lifting mechanism to avoid interference when it climbs on the rising slope. Then, the noncontact chromatic confocal displacement sensor efficiently acquired the gear peak positions to carry out the two-point error separation with the gear peak positions from the probe measurement. Finally, actual experiments were carried out to obtain the profile of a harmonic drive flexspline. Compared with the commercial ultraprecise profiler, the proposed method provides measurement results with a deviation of less than 20 μm. In conclusion, the hybrid strategy is feasible and accurate for drawing the micro gear teeth profile without any collision between the measuring probes and the measured workpiece.

Green tea is a popular non-alcoholic beverage consumed worldwide and has been shown to be beneficial for human health. However, further exploration is needed to fully understand its function in reducing obesity and regulating gut microbes. Here, we investigated the modulatory effects of green tea and its functional components on high-fat diet (HF)-induced metabolic alterations and gut microbiota in obese mice. Our results showed that 1%, 2%, and 4% of green tea promotes weight loss, with the 2% and 4% groups exhibiting distinct gut microflora clusters compared to the HF group. These results were comparable to those observed in the tea polyphenols (TPP)-treated group, suggesting the TPP in green tea plays a crucial role in body weight control and gut microbiota regulation. Additionally, 32 bacteria were identified as potential obesity markers via 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The 16SrDNA gene is a chromosomal gene present in all bacterial species, highly conserved in structure and function, that can reflect the differences between different taxa. The 16S rRNA-based analysis revealed that Akkermansia, a gut-beneficial bacteria, significantly increased in the TPP group.

Abstract Background Few studies have explored patterns of physical activity (PA) and examined their relationship with depression among community-dwelling older adults. We aimed to identify the patterns of PA through a person-centered analytical approach and examine the association between quantity and patterns of PA, and depression among community-dwelling older adults. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional survey study in the Minhang district, Shanghai, China, in August 2019, and used a self-administered questionnaire to collect data through home visits. The total sample included 2525 older adults. This study used the Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly (PASE) to assess the quantity of PA in older adults. Depression was evaluated with the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Latent class analysis (LCA) was used to identify subpopulations by shared item response patterns. Logistic regressions were performed to estimate the relationship between PASE score, patterns of PA, and depression. An exploratory analysis of joint levels and patterns of PA effects on depression was based on sample subgroups with combinations of levels and patterns of PA. Logistic regression was used to calculate the odds ratio for combined subgroups. Results Four latent classes were identified: “domestic types,” “athletic types,” “gardening/caring types,” and “walkers.” PASE scores and patterns of PA both were associated with depression. Older adults who were the most active (PASE quartile: 75–100%) and the athletic types had the strongest significant association with depression (OR = 0.19, 95% CI: 0.06–0.65), followed by those who were the most active (PASE quartile: 75–100%) and the walkers (OR = 0.28, 95% CI: 0.14–0.57) when compared with older adults with the least activity (PASE quartile: 0–25%) and domestic types. Conclusion This study suggests both the quantity and patterns of physical activity are associated with depressive symptoms among community-dwelling older adults. Population-level intervention should encourage community-dwelling older adults to increase their quantity of PA to reduce the risk of depression. Athletics and walkers are recommended. To develop individual-level tailored interventions, more attention should be paid to older adults who are highly engaged in gardening/caring for others.

This study described the trend and distribution of coronary heart disease (CHD) in the Hexi Corridor region of Gansu. The CHD mortality rates from 2006–2015 were obtained through the Death Reporting System of Gansu Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for 2006–2015. The overall mortality rate of CHD in the Hexi Corridor showed a decreasing trend, increasing in winter and spring and lowest in summer. The CHD mortality rate was higher in men than in women (P < 0.05) and increased with age (P < 0.05). The mortality rate was higher in rural areas than in urban areas (P < 0.05). A ten-year mortality rate trend analysis showed that CHD mortality rate in women has significantly decreased. Specifically, women aged 18–39 years experienced increased There was little change in CHD mortality among women aged 40–59 years, and a declined in CHD mortality among women 60 years and older and women in urban areas. Further analysis showed that in the 18–39-year-old and 40–59-year-old groups and in urban areas, CHD mortality rate was higher in men than in women (P < 0.05). From 2006 to 2015, the mortality rate of CHD in the Hexi Corridor of Gansu was lower than in the national average, but in certain populations such as men, young and middle-aged group and rural areas, the CHD mortality rate was gradually increased. There has been a gradual and progressive decline in CHD mortality rate compared to the rising trend in China. This is due to fewer risk factors in the region, effective drug treatment and improvements in environmental pollution. However, there is still a need to enhance the experience of effective prevention and control for specific subgroups such as men, young people and rural residents, and to take appropriate measures to prevent the occurrence of CHD.
