- Abstract
The impact that love has on a person is profound. This study examines the impact of coworker companionate love on well-being and retention within a rehabilitation organization. Additionally, this research project aims to analyze the effect of a supervisor's demonstration of companionate love. The purpose of this research project was to support and inform the transformation of organizational leaders, employees, and learning professionals by providing the necessary data to implement programs that develop the modern workforce. Participants were surveyed to learn about their perceptions of companionate love, retention perceptions, and well-being. The impact of companionate love within the rehabilitation organization suggested that a significant connection existed between companionate love and employee well-being. A relationship was apparent between companionate love and retention and was mediated by well-being. Supervisors who demonstrated companionate love to their direct reports exhibited a strong correlative relationship with employee well-being. These findings indicate the need for leadership training, mentoring, and coaching resources to support the development of companionate love in rehabilitation organizations.
