- Abstract
Introduction: The following paper focuses on an operational view of aviation weather development. It intends to create a discussion about the current presentation models and available technology. Method: Literature review and use of other technological fields related to aviation. The study is limited to a pilot’s operational view. Result: Weather presentations have had a slow development within the aviation community since the middle of the 20th century. The paper intends to point out the slowness, given the available meteorological information, big data processing capabilities, aircraft systems for data usage, and available software used within the aviation community. Economic and environmental aspects related to weather are discussed. Discussion: The author provides suggestions for improvements and emphasizes the importance of combined and updated software and big data processing for comprehensive and extensive use. The paper also highlights potential economic savings and environmental benefits. Possibilities of improvement and the benefits of the weather presentation development and economy are examined.
