This bachelor's thesis examines the influence of the media on youth and explores it through the focus on ethnic and national stereotypes in the media. Through a quantitative method of questionnaire survey distributed among high school students in the Karviná region, it examines the ways of media consumption, experiences with media representation of ethnic and national minorities, as well as attitudes towards the represented reality. It also examines how students themselves perceive the influence of the media and what media and digital literacy tools they are aware of themselves. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the current state of media influence on youth, ethnic and national stereotype theory and digital literacy. The practical part is devoted to the analysis and presentation of the results of the questionnaire survey.

We study the impact of the media negativity bias on tax compliance. Through a framed laboratory experiment, we assess how the exposure to biased news about government action affects compliance in a repeated taxation game. Subjects treated with positive news are significantly more compliant than the control group. Instead, the exposure to negative news does not prompt any significant reaction compared to the neutral condition, suggesting that participants may perceive the media negativity bias in the selection and tonality of news as the norm rather than the exception. Overall, our results suggest that biased news provision is a constant source of psychological priming and plays a vital role in taxpayers’ compliance decisions.

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the influence of media on the wellbeing of people during the Covid-19 pandemic. Theoretical part of this thesis describes several different types of media and their influence on the society as well as the definition of public opinion and the principles of dissemination of information. Because the aforementioned pandemic is a crisis situation, the thesis also defines those situations. Research part of this thesis focuses on quantitative and qualitative analysis of data from the JUPSYCOR research. The qualitative analysis is focused on a detailed study of the influence of media as ranked by respondents. The quantitative part of this thesis focuses on finding (correlation/context) between the codes created during the qualitative analysis.

This diploma thesis deals with the interaction of male members of the fitness culture with content referring to this topic on social media. The diploma thesis examines the connections between the monitored content, the desire to build masculinity, the satisfaction of men with their own body, or the idea of an ideal male body. The aim of this thesis is to answer the questions of how men interpret media content, which suppose to inspire the creation of healthy lifestyle habits, and whether, or how, this content contributes to their approach to the fitness culture. Research shows that men attribute a significant influence to social media on their concept of fitness as a lifestyle. These participants talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the content of fitspiration, which affect the perception of their own body and mental well-being. Although, social media contributions motivate them to improve themselves and achieve better results, images of masculinity on social media force them to focus on the aesthetics of the body, the amount of muscles rather than on the quality of life, health and other benefits from the regular physical activity.

This paper aims to examine the Generation Alpha and particularily what is the role of media in their lives. The whole text is sourced from academic research and surveys both from the Czech Republic and across the world. In the first part, the paper describes the topic of generations in general, offers definitions and approaches to classifying generations - and reasoning behind these. Moreover, the first part of the paper compares generations preceding the Generation Alpha. The second part describes specific characteristics of the Generation Alpha, their values, attitude to education and focuses on the psychosocial developement of this age cohort. It focuses on the distance learning and its impact on this generation, since the fallout of COVID-19 pandemic caused it to be unprecedentedly widespread. Work of Mark McCrindle, the man who named the Generation Alpha, is briefly mentioned here. The final part describes media, their impact on human personality developement and Generation Alpha in particular. A comparison is drawn between how Generation Alpha of Czech Republic relates to media and what is the global picture.

The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether there is a connection between Instagram usage and a change in the perception of one's own body image, more specifically an increase in dissatisfaction with one's own physical appearance. The supporting goals are to map the individual factors arising from this dissatisfaction and to describe the solutions that Instagram users have adopted to achieve the dream appearance. Through qualitative research, specifically by analysing in-depth interviews with bloggers presenting extreme slenderness on social networks, the life stories of respondents are analysed in order to reveal how interest in body shape developed in the presence of social networks and new media. The interviews reveal the interest of Instagram users in watching and sharing photos presenting extreme slenderness and clarify their connection to eating disorders. Instead of triggering such diseases, Instagram manifests itself as a tool for maintaining and remaining in a new mental and physical condition. By publishing photographs showing a very thin body, women assure themselves of their own attractiveness, and thus also influence their self-presentation, which results in an equivalent relationship of satisfaction from slenderness and satisfaction from their self presentation.

This master's thesis named The influence of communication channels on decision making of first-time voters shown on the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2017 focuses on the influence and use of the consumption of communication channels on the decision making of first-time voters. This thesis also portrays the phenomenon of contemporary opinion leaders, such as YouTubers, bloggers, and other Internet celebrities. The current generation of children consume more medial contents through television and movies than ever before. Many classical literature works are adapted in this way, although they have to correspond with preferences of audience and with socio-cultural values which shows the different view at the same topic subsequently mediated to the youngest audience. This thesis acquaints with history of fairy-tales genre and its various forms. In view of target audience of this production, thesis concentrates with the effect of content and media devices on children audience in theoretical part. Simultaneously the thesis efforts to popularity of cinematized fairy-tales in Czech environment. Practical part analyzes two film adaptations of the same fairy-tale's theme and efforts to point out to the differences in creative conception and values, which these movies represent. The bachelor's thesis is focused on media image of child sexual abuse in Czech TV news. The thesis introduces the issues of this serious social problem, presents context of social sciences, rapist, victims and consequences of sexual abuse. The media chapter introduces possible influences of news about child sexual abuse on society. Quantitative content analysis was used for the research. Three of the most popular TV stations - ČT1, Nova, Prima − were included in the research. News transcription related to child sexual abuse was monitored from the beginning of 2010 until the end of 2015 with the aid of the Newton Media SEARCH database. The time period was chosen because of actuality and sufficient sample of news. Three large cases were chosen. Cases were connected with organizations (the Scout group, the BBC television, the Catholic church). These organizations should help and protect children. The affairs were presented, in detail, the data from the news were analyzed, then interpreted and compared. The aim of the analysis was to find if society is sufficiently informed about this problem, if news about child sexual abuse can transform the society's view and if the news had some taboo or stereotypes about this problem.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the media influence on society during Ebola epidemic (in 2014-2016) and Zika epidemic (in 2016). The theoretical part describes the basic concepts and outlines the progress of both epidemics. Then presents a theoretical basis for the issue of the influence of media messages on the audience, society and the pharmaceutical industry. This part also briefly discusses the adaptation of reporting about diseases in the selected ethical codes (The Czech Television Code, BBC Editorial Guidelines and The Code of Association of Television Organizations CR). The thesis deals with the didactic potential of the magazine Mateřídouška, especially its possible application in the implementation of media education at primary school. The first part of the Thesis focuses on the theoretical knowledge of the psychological development of the child, reader literacy and media literacy and media education as one of the Curricula program for primary education. The second part is a brief analysis of magazine for primary school children. Subsequently, the work focuses longest stemming magazine for primary school children - Mateřídouška magazine. In the analysis are used knowledge presented in the theoretical part of the Thesis. Emphasis is placed upon the analysis primarily on the didactic potential Mateřídouška. The aim of the Thesis is finding if Mateřídouška magazine could be used in the implementation of media education at primary school.

The diploma thesis concerns itself with the analysis of connection between the media exposure to refugeedom topics and the perceived salience of the issue. Combined qualitative and quantitative research designs ruled by QUAN → qual scheme are used in the thesis. In the quantitative part the effect of exposure to refugeedom-related news on the perceived salience of the subject is constructed using TV and newspaper viewing figures while controlling socio- demographic characteristics of respondents. Binary logistic regression was used to find the influence. The analysis shows that the exposure to content concerning immigration and refugees has influenced the rated importance of the issue. However, there are other variables not included in the model which are affecting the salience. The qualitative approach offers insights into the relationship discovered with quantitative methods. In-depth interviews showed people are aware of the media influence mainly regarding topics they are thinking about and discussing with their social surroundings. This diploma thesis has been focused on the relationship of pupils in the 1. -3. grade of elementary school to the contemporary fairy tales. The theoretical part of my work is focused on the fairy tale as a genre (classic folk and modern fairy tale), on the media influence of the fairy tale, on its current status, development trends, the influence of recipient etc. My work has an investigative character too. It has been focused on the reading behavior of pupils, their behavior, the influence of family and school, on the development of reading, respectively focusing on this genre, on the influence of media etc. Based on questionnaires and interviews with pupils and their parents I will try to capture the current status. The research results are compared with the theoretical part and are supported with the attachment. The results are interpreted in the conclusion.

This bachelor thesis investigates the influence of media communication channels on students in elementary schools, mainly from the point of view how the media influence is perceived by the students themselves. In the introductory part the thesis presents key theoretical findings from selected literature related to the chosen theme and the paradigms issuing from theoretical research, mainly in the field of television broadcasting impact on the selected age category and on its capacity to notice the media impact by itself. Thesis "Comparison of the structure of topics in magazine Mateřídouška in the normalization era and in nineteen-nineties " deals with a comparison of the thematic structure of the children's magazine Mateřídouška published during the period of normalization and then after the major political change in 1989 (transition to democracy) in nineteen-nineties. It contains analysis of the content of the magazine focused on topics in four selected years. For the purpose of this thesis two years from the normalization era and two years from the democratic era were chosen: year 1971/1972 (volume 28), year 1988/1989 (volume 45), year 1991/1992 (volume 48) and year 1999 (volume 55). The aim of this thesis is to find differences between those volumes, describe them and evaluate them. Introductory part of the thesis gives information about the purpose of the research and about the methodology used in it. The central theme of this bachelor thesis are audiovisual media and their influence on adolescents. It also deals with the role of the media in the process of social learning. Goal of theoretical part of the bachelor thesis is to identify and describe the current state of this issue. Also explains what position the movies takes in general educational programs and school programs. The task of the practical part is to prove that the preferred genre TV series in adolescents may affect the perception of the importance of the target values. This thesis concerns itself with the effects of media on socio-cultural regulatives. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The first one describes the theoretical foundations related to mass media - their importance and power, their potential effects and how they can be analyzed. Two lifestyle magazines were selected, both of which are presenting values of the two main segments of the population (Elle for women and Maxim for men). This master thesis' main topic is fashion and lifestyle blogs and the impact of the brands and the ideal of beauty that is widely promoted in the media on them. The aim of this thesis is to find out which type of the brands can be mostly found in the blog posts with personal style of the successful bloggers and if there is a type of physical appearance that prevails among them. I am using the quantitative image analysis of Gillian Rose to test these hypotheses on photographs of bloggers. I was inspired by the work of Catherine Lutz and Jane Collins. My hypotheses are tested on photographs from three websites (Lookbook, Chictopia, Bloglovin') where bloggers are hierarchized. Bloggers are opinion leaders. This means it is advantageous for the marketing departments of brands to collaborate with them because bloggers can effectively influence their readers. Brands play an important role in life of people that believe brands can non-verbally tell the character of the brand consumer. The thesis "The Influence of Media on Body Image with Emphasis on the Issue of Eating Disorders" deals with the impact of media on body perception regarding the current beauty ideal, the cult of slenderness as well as the causes of eating disorder spreading in today's world. The aim of the thesis was to investigate how single parents is presented in daily press. Single parents is an important today social problem so I find this as an important research field. The media have the power to influence our thoughts and opinions. I wonder who has the opportunity to comment in the media, what the distribution of individual information sources are and who talks about this (laymen, sociologist, psychologists or representatives of various organizations). The bachelor thesis Influence of Media on Czech Athletes before and during the Olympic Games in London 2012 examines the impact of selected Czech media on the successful Czech athletes including: world record holder Barbora Špotáková, European Vice-champion Denisa Rosolová, World Champions Vítězslav Veselý and Zuzana Hejnová. The main content and at the same time the aim of the thesis is to inspect whether the selected media activity had positive or negative impact to the athletes performance at 2012 Olympic Games in London. In the introduction of this study I set out the current state of the Czech book market, how it operates, and the results Czech publishers. I also try to find answers to questions about various ethical and moral dilemmas, both in literature and in-person interviews with experts on the topic. The aim is to determine how significant Czech newspapers influenced the book market in 2012. For this I decided to use the analysis of media content, which is firstly explained and followed by a description and comment on the results. Then I will try to show the influence of the media on the book market using the experiment.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is Media image of the candidates for president in the second round of elections, which were held in the Czech Republic in 2013. Using the method of content analysis and visual analysis of three of the most read online news, outcomes were found. The purpose was to find out if some of the news favored one of the candidates, if the news supported stereotypes about candidates and how they reached it. It was found, that all online news wrote in favor of Karel Schwarzenberg. They showed him (through photos, headlines and reports) more often in positive way then they showed his rival Miloš Zeman. Server Novinky.cz showed both candidates the most often of all online news in positive way. It published the most of the headlines, pictures and reports, which were positive. The most objective daily news was Aktualne.cz, because of the fact, that it published the largest number of neutral photos, headlines and reports of all servers. The proportion of positive and negative reports was in this server the most even of all. Miloš Zeman was showed in the most cases as a self-confident man with empty hands. In my thesis named How the new media affect speech of children and adolescents I focus on the changes trends in the speech of the young generation. Nowadays children and adolescents very often use abbreviations in their speech, they prefer the foreign origin words to the Czech equivalents and they use media tools for communication more then they use interpersonal communication. According to my hypothesis the changes are caused by the influence of the media world that accompany the new generation throughout whole childhood. According to many experts the medias form the children as well as the family and the kid's surroundings. Using a questionnaire survey in the specific groups of 11 to 15 years old children I try to find out if the changes in the children speech are real and how much are the media involved, no matter if it regards media "tradicional" or "new" ones. The questionnaire focuses on the all aspects of the language; vocabulary, words meaning, using foreign equivalents and the proces of communication. If I find out the changes I also try to find out the reason of their formation and whether they are connected to the (new) media.

Into mass media of current modern time belong periodical press (newspapers, magazines), broadcasting and internet. It´s one-way form of social communication available to everyone and significantly participate on human socialization. Thanks to diversity of their contents, provides many kinds of using (spending free time, education, entertainment, relax). But in the most of these subjects we can find besides actual information, factors, which can have negative influence on upbringing and children personality development. These factors include information but also elements of violence, aggression and erotic. Media influence on children depends with their age, which reflects the level of cognitive functions, critical thinking and intellectual abilities.

The aim of this thesis is to determine the main reasons of watching TV programs focused on healthy lifestyle, its influence on the behaviour of the viewer and the target group of these programs. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of the available literature about healthy lifestyle, influence of media on the viewer and on the television programs about healthy lifestyle themselves. The practical part consists of statistics of audience and my own questionnaire survey. My thesis will provide a comprehensive overview of the programs focused on the issues of healthy lifestyle and will find out whether these programs affect spectators. Also whether these viewers obey the information obtained from these programs, therefore, if this broadcasting might have a positive impact on our society. Finally, the thesis describes the basic characteristics of a healthy way of life and influence of media on humans in general. Information derived from my thesis could be used to produce programs about healthy living, because I will find the target audience and to what extent their behaviour is based on watching those programs.

This thesis focuses on the ways of depicting female beauty in ELLE magazine. In the theoretical part, the concept of beauty is defined and the development of the ideal of beauty and the influence of the media on people are described. The attitudes and research on beauty in the media are mentioned and primarily the emphasis is put on depiction of female beauty in the media. The reasons for women accepting the ideal of beauty presented by the media, the real nature of beauty in the media and the possible influence on women's self-esteem are dealt with, as well. The thesis also introduces the development of female magazines and their current role on the Czech market. At the end of the thesis, the campaigns aiming at unreal ideal of beauty in the media are critically evaluated. Mixed research method is used in the thesis; by means of the content analysis the photos of women (in advertisements as well as other pictures) are investigated with emphasis on their characteristics and in connection with the topic of the articles. The semiotic analysis examines the front pages and the message they convey. The aim of the analysis was to determine the most frequent depiction of women and to establish the proportion of articles dealing with appearance.

The aim of the thesis "The media image of farmers' markets" is to describe the development of the media image of Prague farmers' markets, as presented by MF DNES in 2010 and the first half of 2011. The research was carried out using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis and of a survey among the market shoppers. The result is a comparison of the three analyzed periods and focuses on an evaluation of the phenomenon of farmers' markets and presentation of the problems that accompanied them. The analysis showed that the media image in 2010 was uncritical. Articles about farmers' markets were distinctly favorable, showing only positive feedback. Markets were also associated with policies of the respective Prague districts, which were given credit for establishing them. Although the daily began to report on problems of the markets in the first half of 2011, survey among the shoppers showed that negative messages did not affected their shopping behavior and confidence in markets.

The aim of the presented theses is to discover and to compare the impacts of the education on the children in the preschool care and on the schoolchildren (teen-agers) as far as the acquiring of the basis of the Christianity as a religion and the formation of their life as Christians. In principle the corn of the theses lies in the assessment of the influence of different factors (as the family, friends, priest, Christian broadcasting, literature, participation of the parish activities) on the Christian faith of children and young people. In other words, whether the formation of the Christian life gained through the family (from birth up) has a more stabile and permanent experiences with God than the faith acquired at a later stage of growing up. The methods of testing, of questionnaire survey and the method of monitoring the behaviour of children and young people were used in the theses. The outcome of my research was the finding, that even if some adolescents have an interest in the matters of faith and God, this meeting with the religion does not form deep relationships to the faith as such and to the God. Only by a slight number of the young people has such a late cognition an influence on the formation of their future Christian life. By contrast, the acquiring of the Christian faith from the childhood on has other difficulties. The Christian faith of children faces the misunderstanding of classmates and later on of an atheist partner. Fort the maintenance of the faith of the adolescents the factors like family values, stand-points and patterns are of special importance.

This dissertation addresses the issues of collective memory in relationship with mass media. The key concepts from both fields are included. The emphasis is put on distinction between collective memory concept and other key concepts like history or historical consciousness. Subsequently the theories presenting correlation between the media and the collective memory are introduced; a lesser empirical part is also included. The main goal of this dissertation is to connect two seemingly separated issues into one compact concept, to demonstrate possible way how media forms collective memory and to support these conclusions by results from the empirical research. This graduation thesis, entitled "Results of libel in press in the relation to the relevant moral rights especially in the area of private law in the Czech Republic" examines press interference into relevant moral rights. The first chapter describes the historical foundations of personal rights protection, as well as their international and European connections. The second chapter discusses the power of media, and the means used for its maintenance and strengthening. In the third chapter, an outline of motivations for publication of news press, which balance between righteousness and libel. In the fourth chapter, an assessment of the clash between freedom of speech and protection of privacy, which are categories guaranteed in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The content of the fifth chapter is fundamental because it provides a thorough analysis of the law which governs personal rights, with a focus on the civil code, press law and procedural rules. The sixth chapter brings sight of rules established by autoregulation. It deals with self- censorship, the journalist's code of ethics, self-controlling authorities and so on. The bachelor thesis ?Negative impact of mass media communication tools? is concerned with typology of media and their influence on contemporary consumers and mainly on youth. It analyses in detail particular types of media, their development and influence. The thesis is focused on two types of media - mature and youth. Mature media send information in one way, whilst youth media can communicate all directions.The thesis is also aimed at the relationship between the new communication possibilities and culture. The paper contains a practical part which includes controlled dialogue with pupils of the ninth grade of the primary school and the interpretation of the dialogue.

This bachelor thesis deals with the media effects on the field of business etiquette in Czech Republic. The aim of my thesis is to describe how media influence, what effects they have and how they participate in creating media reality. The thesis also defines and analyses the media effects on business etiquette. In the first part there are defined terms such as etiquette, business etiquette and its basic rules or business ethics. Second part deals with the media effects and influences on individuals and society from theoretical point of view. The last part of the thesis is focused on observing particular effects of media products on etiquette. There is also suggested my own business etiquette-oriented column for a printed periodical.

This bachelor work deals with the problematics of value orientation of nowadays` youth, media models influence, and the influcence of media as such on the value orientation of our youth. In the theoretical part, work is divided into three sections. First section deals with the value orientation generally, it defines kinds and essence of values as well as it deals with the axiology in the history of philosophy. Second section deals with values, interests, attitudes and adolescence generally. Furthermore it deals with the axiological view on youth. Third section is aimed on media and rules of law that limit it{\crq}s activity within the frame of youth{\crq}s protection. Practical part consists of working out a questionnaire that will catch the intensity of consumation the media offer, influence of media model and receiving opinions, values and attitudes in construed media. It also consists of a high-school research and questionnaire evaluation.

Diploma thesis "The Influence of Regional Media on Readers' Perception of Politics in Melnik" refers on a survey of accepting media framing of politicians, politics and important issues by regional media readers in the town of Melnik. Methods of framing and focus groups were used in the survey. First the methods were introduced. The method of framing was used for qualitative content analysis of five printed media from 2005 to 2007. The media were daily Melnicky denik, weekly Tydenik Melnicko, monthly Melnicka radnice, weekly Tep regionu and regional supplement of Mlada fronta Dnes for Central Bohemia. The author of this work focused on several most important issues of the 2005 to 2007 period and he observed how respondents accept or decline the framing of these problems offered by politics, journalists and other participants of Melnik political life. To do this he organised focus groups discussions with Melnik inhabitants in the age of 26 to 75 years of age. They discussed their opinions and beliefs on local politics. This work is a subjective insight into the world of regional media effects on readers, in this case focused on political issues.

My thesis on Body image with girls at the age range 15 -18 deals with problems of body self-conception. This age period, belonging to the developmental period of adolescence, is characteristic of numerous noticeable crises, which concern psychosocial, physical, and sexual development. My work describes the particularities of developmental period of adolescence as well as historical evolution of the ideal of beauty. Last but not least it deals with the influence of the society, especially media, on the body image of adolescent girls. I also covered the concepts of self-conception, especially physical self-conception further to health {--} disease. In the practical part of my thesis a method of quantitative research was used. Data for supporting or disproving of stated hypotheses were acquired via a questionnaire. The choice of girls inquired was accidental, stratified. The aim of the thesis was to map the problem of body image with girls aged 15- 18. The partial aim was to find out how the attitude of girls towards their own bodies is influenced by media, by the sum of money invested in the improvement of their appearance in proportion with their pocket money, how the girls are satisfied with their bodies and how the above mentioned is influenced by demographic and statistic factors. The results of the research show that 57.8% of girls are dissatisfied with their bodies. Most girls receive big pocket money, but their expenses are by far below it. Only few girls were on a diet, but a lot of girls buy clothes to cover bodily imperfections. I was quite surprised by the fact that only a few girls go in for sports actively. My work also confirmed that bodily self-conception of girls is strongly influenced by media showing ideally beautiful women only when being at malnutrition limit. The results of this work draw the attention to the importance of prevention in the field of body image and related pathological phenomena {--} e.g. by means of improving the health education at schools, by realizing media campaigns, and especially by upbringing in families.
