This paper studies the settlement-type factor that affects the formation of value orientations and related political attitudes of Russians. There is a deep intersettlement differentiation in modern Russia. The typology of settlements takes into account not only the structural elements but also their level of development. The agglomeration of Moscow and Saint Petersburg are at the top of the hierarchical system of settlements. The dissemination of innovations in the social space of Russia derives from the largest and most developed to the less developed types of communities. Different types of settlements determine the specificity of value orientations, which the current article discusses as models of “megalopolis” and “remote place”. These models detect unifying and dividing values that are located in the complex and contradictory interaction and dynamics. The majority of Russians are united in their quest for social justice and stability. At the same time, the residents of the metropolis have a more pronounced focus on the individual, rational, and activist values, whereas the residents of the provinces have collectivist, regulatory, and paternalistic values. In addition, the value structure of the residents of the metropolis is characterised by its diversity, simultaneous presence of the values and attitudes of the liberal, conservative and social-democratic orientation, the possibility of choice and, consequently, greater individual freedom Megacities concentrate resources to develop new guidelines to form the value of the future, whereas the province provides stability and continuity A balance between these two opposites can ensure dynamism and the continuity of social development.

The concept of protean career describes a career style in which success is subjectively pondered, and can beachieved through a self-managed and values-oriented vocational behavior. The Protean Career Attitudes Scale (PCAS)aims to assess the self-management and the values orientation dimensions. The present study explored the factorialstructure of a Brazilian version of PCAS. Participants were 446 professionals from 15 Brazilian states. The finalversion of PCAS was composed of 11 items, their factor structure confirming the hypothesized dimensions.Reliability indexes were good or acceptable for the general scale (.83), and for the career self-management (.85) andvalues orientation subscales (.73). Comparison between groups showed men with significantly higher selfmanagementthan women. Moreover, private sector professionals had significantly higher levels of both selfmanagementand values orientation than government workers. Further comparative and correlational studies withcontemporary career attitudes are encouraged.

- Abstract
Instability, crisis that invaded all areas of life, increase of emotional elements of consciousness give rise to conflicting terms of personality development, require new balanced approaches to address the spiritual crisis in society.Relevance of the research of world-view and axiological aspects of life creation culture of individual is stipulated by the needs to overcome a kind of "spiritual hunger" in a situation where mankind fell during the deployment of globalization and the information revolution. Numerous sociological surveys show that spiritual priorities relocated to the periphery of human value orientations, became almost invisible against the background of a pragmatic worldview that gradually covers a wider range of people. Last affects emotional state of people, their relation to each other, to others and themselves. "Spiritual" in this situation is rather a kind of fashion, passion. Return of people to real not illusional spiritual values is a task without which it is impossible to talk about the culture of life creation, high spiritual atmosphere, world-view basis of personality, human values.Religious identity crisis - a loss of meaning in life. The severity of the eternal questions does not depend on age. Spirituality is the most determining factor in the formation of world-view and value orientations of individual. Therefore, aim of the article is to define true fundamental necessary linkages and interdependencies between the world-view foundations and value-orientation context of life creation of personality.World-view basis of life creation of an individual is an essential condition for existential self-assertion of human on a basis of knowledge, opinions and beliefs, values and norms, emotionally-volitional component. Personal self-realization depends on the level of awareness of the necessity of building a coherent world-view system of above phenomena, which ultimately become the absolute value orientations for the realization of live creation potential of a person.Consequently, world-view is a set of attitudes and beliefs, estimates and norms, ideals and principles which define human's relationship to the world and govern its behavior in everyday life. Moreover, worldview is a complex spiritual formation that allows a person not just to isolate themselves from the world as a subject, but also to feel their world changing and life creation possibilities that is to understand the need for personal fulfillment through creative attitude as to objective reality, and to their own spiritual world. Thus, a key factor in shaping world-view foundations and value-orientation basis of the of life creation of individual is internal, spiritual world, which could based on the ideals, convictions and beliefs transform objective reality in a way that it is not alienated, outside world, and significant for a human, full of absolute values, goals and values. Life creation in this sense can be interpreted as a process of humanization of a world. In making conclusions, it should be noted that during analysis of possible links between such phenomena of spiritual and practical life as world-view, core values of a personality and life creation, it was found that the integrity of these concepts is associated with such categories as spirituality, which in its energy-volitional sense is an interlink between them.Essential fundamental, necessary relationships and interdependence between the world-view foundations and value-orientation context of life creation of a personality were defined and proved that life creation which is based on values and beliefs, allows a person to become a person who is the spiritual core of human life activities that is based on value-willpower efforts determines human capacity for freedom, creativity, formulation of values of their lives, ultimately, to self-respect and a sense of dignity and worth. So based on research of axiological aspect of culture of life creation of a personality it was proved that life creation of an individual which is a spiritual foundation for the strong-willed world change, completing the formation of a holistic world-view and value system is a phenomenon necessary for the ontological actualization of personality in the universe of world-view meanings and values. 11. A Perspective of Spatial Planning: The New Media and the Reconstruction of Values for Contemporary Chinese Citizen.
- Abstract
The author argues that the values conflict of which brought out by the capitalization of the space is the roots of the crisis of ideology during the social transition period in contemporary China. The image of a city which is looked upon as an important content of urban planning is exactly the presentation of above conflict in certain period and it widely appears among which the media focus on. The media, during its process of reading and broadcasting the image of city, and because of its original characters of information dissymmetry, it inevitably reflects its ideological position and its choices of value therefore it finally leads to the dissymmetry of communication. The emergence of new media partly counteracts the dissymmetry of communication in certain meaning. But, comparing to traditional media, the ideological contents of which new media carried become more complexity and more concealed. The article tries to rethink the role of media when they choose a city symbol of Shanghai-- Shikumen in Xintiandi style or Worker's village-- from a perspective of spatial planning. By discussing the conflicts of values what the above choice indicated, the article argues that the value reconstructing of contemporary Chinese citizen rely on the interaction and rethinking between the new media and spatial planning. WELFARE state , *PUBLIC welfare policy , *SOCIAL values , *SOCIAL democracy , *VALUES Orientation Inventory - Abstract
Substantial literature exists around the variation of welfare policy development in liberal democracies. The contrast of the American welfare state to those in Europe has sparked significant analytical literature about which factors are most significant in the variation. The literature extensively examines many of these factors but has neglected the significance of social values. This article discusses values and policy development as a foundation for further studies linking specific values to policy and institutional development. First, I discuss theorists who have identified value orientation as significant to welfare state variation; second, I review the major comparative welfare state literature. Finally, I discuss the major variation categories through the lens of social values by identifying the significant value orientation of sample policy structures. Comparative welfare state literature benefits from elucidating the values orientation of welfare policies that define the welfare state typological categories. Including the role of social values in welfare state comparisons promotes greater understanding of the origins and trajectory of current policy. Key Practitioner Message: ● Increase understanding of welfare state variation factors; ● Frame questions about social values reflected in social policy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article deals with changing processes in moral values foundations and trends in contemporary societies, focusing on their current state and specific features often referred to as postmodern. These processes include such phenomenon as divergence between morality and ethics, where the latter comes into conflict with traditional moral standards in professional communities. New behavioural patterns and goals overpass the boundaries of the earlier established norms and customs. Normative morality is replaced by ethos of certain communities, “tribes” and gender groups. Prominent proponents of the postmodern sociological theory (J. Baudrillard, Z. Bauman, S. Lash, M. Maffesoli) emphasize on the factor of relativity in ideological orientations, which can lead to “values chaos”, where rationalization of social relations, sociality, and progress are substituted by sensual irrationality, individualization, ingress, etc. New research is required to define new human values hierarchy (or transfiguration) of contemporary societies. These tendencies are relevant to present-day Ukrainian society in terms of its processes and specific features such as “hybrid” morality, migration, domestic culture, and youth subcultures, etc.

These tendencies are relevant to present-day Ukrainian society in terms of its processes and specific features such as “hybrid” morality, migration, domestic culture, and youth subcultures, etc.,

By the end of 2025, Mannheim’s population will have increased slightly to reach 312,700. Just as in other major cities in Germany, the fear in Mannheim is that continuing suburbanisation and net gains in population resulting from immigration will lead to long-term social segregation. It is against this background that the city of Mannheim joined forces with the GBG-Mannheimer Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, a local housing association, to commission a study into the motives underlying relocation. Starting with a brief attempt to contextualise the issue at hand, this paper details the procedure applied and presents a comparative survey based on demographic structure and the motives underlying relocation for households moving into, out of, or within the city. One topic of special interest is city-to-hinterland migration and the conditions under which such households would be prepared to return to the city. The study concludes by showing how Mannheim’s residential neighbourhoods are capable of satisfying quite diverse housing needs; consequently, the city is well placed to enhance its appeal as a place to live and to counter the trend towards suburbanisation.

GAMES , *EDUCATIONAL games , *SOCIAL values , *SELF-actualization (Psychology) , *EDUCATION , *PHYSICAL education , *INTEREST (Psychology) - Abstract
This article examines the curricular constructions that influence our perceptions of learner ‘ability’ within games education. Games education has both inherent and intrinsic value for learners, and within this context, teachers make important choices about what they believe will be of most value and interest for students. This in turn impacts the way that the curriculum is constructed and developed. Extrinsic cultural and social values have also had an impact upon the discipline. These values have been usefully summarized by Jewett as five value orientations: (1) disciplinary mastery, (2) self-actualization, (3) social reconstruction, (4) learning process and (5) ecological integration. Identification of the philosophical principles which underpin the curriculum allows the reflective part of the praxis to take place. These five value orientations provide critical reference points for my exploration of the different ways in which two curricula constructions frame ability. Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) and the more familiar model of Technique-Based or Direct Instruction are considered, not to further the methodology debate, but to illustrate how each frames ability differently. This will be achieved by examining the context and culture within which each has developed. Finally, a closer examination will be made of the TGfU curriculum model in terms of the ways in which it defines learner ability. It is suggested that, TGfU offers a more inclusive way to think about ability in PE by employing a range of value orientations. As teachers encourage learners to invent their own games, they help them to develop respect for equal justice and for free and open inquiry (social reconstruction). In this way, learners come to appreciate and understand their responsibility to protect individual and collective rights and freedoms. When it comes to teaching democracy, it is clearly important to pay close attention to the entire context in which learning takes place, since by definition, the notion of democracy applies to individuals as they operate within community. The TGfU approach lends itself to the teaching of democracy in schools, since it empowers both teacher and learner and invites them to question the status quo (ecological integration). In this way, players focus on creating play as a shared experience, not just on being winners. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The phenomenon of "mass pathology of identity", changing value orientations lead to a lack of coherence in the society, the growth of destructive processes. We are witnessing how in Ukraine changes occur in the social structure of society, in relationship between people, reign and ideology, but still are not developed the criteria and rules of social relations, are not defined orientations of the future structure of the state.Transformation processes in Ukraine provide search of new approaches to the problem of the choice of methods and means of governance of spiritual development of the nation. However, it should be remembered that in the spiritual values of the nation laid the whole historical experience of the Ukrainian people, traditions, ceremonies, cultural heritage, ideological beliefs, and features of social relations, therefore the key to the effectiveness of state management by processes that taking place in the spiritual life of society, is, above all, scientific approach to determine the relationship and interaction of the state and, historically, spiritually and value orientations of its citizens.,

It is substantial to compare distinctions amongst Lithuanian, Polish and Russian mod values because it enables to focus on those values which are less common in one or another national group. - Abstract
The internationalisation of accounting education has grown significantly over the last decade, with Australia now being the third largest provider of international degrees. This internationalisation has brought benefits to both students and academics by widening their understandings and perspectives of other countries and cultures. The diversity has also provided a basis for researching the impact of culture on student’s approaches to teaching and learning. However, no study to date has measured and analysed the tensions that exist between the cultural values of students and educators. This paper reports an exploratory study of postgraduate students enrolled in a foundation accounting subject at an Australian university to discover the extent of the difference in values orientations. Application of the Model of Basic Values (Lingenfelter and Mayers, 2003) revealed core differences which were analysed and discussed. Practical applications for culture-bridging strategies were identified in terms of implications for teaching and for personal interaction.
