This paper considers the problem of an interface for educational platform, which is fully effective for achieving the outcomes of educational activity. The current research is a theoretical analysis of existing recommendations on UI/UX design, applied when creating educational systems, as well as of research papers that study user interface (UI) usability and evaluate user experience (UX) in designing on-line platforms. This article describes a mechanism for evaluating usability with the help of baseline and final evaluation tool. It also studies UX components, that ensure its high quality. A list of standard components of web-design is being discussed in the present paper; modern trends in web-design of educational platforms are identified. The paper provides the description of an on-line course model, which is built on the basis of analysis of the prerequisites for existing and functioning of educational on-line systems and which is aimed at achieving outcomes of educational activity. There is ground to believe that the design of educational on-line courses will contribute to achieving the outcomes of educational activity, if user interface components comply with a list of criteria, such as easy-to-perceive content, no extra information, easy and simple navigation on the pages of the course, following the principles of usability.

A multi-goal layout problem may be formulated as a Quadratic Assignment model, considering multiple goals (or factors), both qualitative and quantitative in the objective function. The facilities layout problem, in general, varies from the location and layout of facilities in manufacturing plant to the location and layout of textual and graphical user interface components in the human–computer interface. In this paper, we propose two alternate mathematical approaches to the single-objective layout model. The first one presents a multi-goal user interface component layout problem, considering the distance-weighted sum of congruent objectives of closeness relationships and the interactions. The second one considers the distance-weighted sum of congruent objectives of normalized weighted closeness relationships and normalized weighted interactions. The results of first approach are compared with that of an existing single objective model for example task under consideration. Then, the results of first approach and second approach of the proposed model are compared for the example task under consideration.

The aim of the study is investigate the Federated search engine user interface criteria from perspective of Al-Zahra post graduate students. In this research, survey analysis has been used. The study populations were all post graduate students of Al-Zahra University. Because of the extensive community, stratified random and relative sampling was used and total 330 students were accepted as Sample that only 303 people participated in this study. For data collection a researcher made questionnaire designed. The criteria from literature study. The results of the questionnaire by using SPSS software (version 20) and Excel 2007 application were analyzed. The results showed that the major component from graduate students' perspective is guidance and navigation and searched filter components. Results indicate that more than 50 percent of students the importance of 74 criteria of 96 criteria considered high and very high and, (therefore) the majority of the criteria in the study from the viewpoints are acceptable. However, findings also showed that among the four components of this study, the search filter, display and record review, consolidation and guidance is a positive relation, and between the views of different faculties is not significant difference about the importance of criterias and components. The multi-criteria facilities layout problem can be formulated as a quadratic assignment model that can handle multiple qualitative and quantitative factors in the objective function. Some studies have shown that the techniques and tools of facilities layout problems can equally be applied for the layout design of user interface components in human-computer interface. This paper presents an alternate approach, which handles multiple qualitative and quantitative factors in a different manner separately in the objective function to obtain the initial layouts. The proposed approach also consists of a layout procedure, in which the pair of facilities with the least composite criterion value has been selected to be placed far apart in the layout to generate an initial layout in the construction procedure. The results of the proposed approach are compared with that of an existing approach which handles a number of qualitative and quantitative factors in the same manner as in the objective function to obtain the initial layouts for the example task of the user interface components layout problem under consideration. Abstract: Both qualitative and quantitative multiple goals (or factors) are handled in the objective function of a quadratic assignment model to formulate a multi-goal layout problem. A quadratic assignment model deals with facilities layout problems, assigning ‘’ facilities to ‘’ mutually exclusive locations by either construction or improvement procedures so that the objective of minimization of cost (or flow) is attained. In this paper, we propose an alternate approach to an existing approach that handles the sum of distance-weighted closeness relationships and distance-weighted interactions assigned relative weights in the objective function. In our approach, the sum of distance-weighted congruent objectives of normalized weighted closeness relationships and distance-weighted normalized weighted interactions are handled in the objective function. Then a two-step procedure containing construction and improvement procedures of pair-wise exchange process is used to obtain the layouts. The layouts obtained in an existing approach are evaluated with respect to the attributes of the objective function criteria values in the proposed approach. The proposed multi-goal facilities layout model is used here for the user interface components layout problem. The purpose of this paper is to present a model to design the layout of the user interface components that handles many numbers of qualitative factors. An alternate rating system is also proposed for the closeness relationship ratings between the various pairs of components evaluated by using GOMS (goals, operators, methods and selection rules) technique. The proposed model is applied to the design of the part of the user interface in order to obtain the best layout of the components. The results of the proposed model are compared with that of an existing model, which handles single qualitative factor applied to obtain the layouts of user interface components.
