OBJECTIVE: We applied a user experience (UX) design approach to clinical decision support (CDS) tool development for the specific use case of pediatric asthma. Our objective was to understand physicians workflows, decision-making processes, barriers (ie, pain points), and facilitators to increase usability of the tool. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We used a mixed-methods approach with semi-structured interviews and surveys. The coded interviews were synthesized into physician-user journey maps (ie, visualization of a process to accomplish goals) and personas (ie, user types). Interviews were conducted via video. We developed physician journey maps and user personas informed by their goals, systems interactions, and experiences with pediatric asthma management. RESULTS: The physician end-user personas identified were: efficiency, relationship, and learning. Features of a potential asthma CDS tool sought varied by physician practice type and persona. It was important to the physician end-user that the asthma CDS tool demonstrate value by lowering workflow friction (ie, difficulty or obstacles), improving the environment surrounding physicians and patients, and using it as a teaching tool. Customizability versus standardization were important considerations for uptake. DISCUSSION: Different values and motivations of physicians influence their use and interaction with the EHR and CDS tools. These different perspectives can be captured by applying a UX design approach to the development process. For example, with the importance of customizability, one approach may be to build a core module with variations depending on end-user preference. CONCLUSION: A UX approach can drive design to help understand physician-users and meet their needs; ultimately with the goal of increased uptake.

Digital health interventions (DHIs) can facilitate positive health outcomes. User engagement (UE) plays an important role in DHI efficacy. Yet, DHIs vary in functionality, design and intended outcomes, underscoring the importance of incremental, user-centred design to understand engagement in specific settings. This study explores the relationship between user engagement and DHI implementation in three design iterations, or rounds, of a unique, multi-week asynchronous intervention that leverages online discussion and problem-solving therapy (PST). The intervention seeks to engage older adults to improve problem solving skills relating to the intervention focus, health aging (two rounds) and Lewy Body Dementias (LBD) caregiving (one round). The PST component drew upon personas, a common user-centered design method, in a novel way. Exit interviews were conducted at the end of each round to understand participants' experiences. Using thematic analysis, we identified factors that contributed to social engagement ('engaging with others') and learning engagement ('engaging with content') with the DHI. The findings demonstrate how iterative changes in the design and delivery of a DHI can contribute to user engagement, increasing the likelihood of knowledge acquisition and developing problem-solving skills as part of health self-management. Abstract\nIMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONObjective: A systematic review of 30 full-text articles was conducted on user acceptance of technologies that assist people who have functional difficulties (FD) with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility. Our objective was to better understand the adoption of mobility assistive products (mobAP) among people with FD.Methods: A literature search in EBSCO, PubMed, SCOPUS, and Web of Science yielded 423 articles. Ultimately, thirty articles met our inclusion criteria.Results: Four overarching themes were identified using a thematic analysis approach. The themes were Empowerment Through the Use of Mobility Assistive Products, Incorporating User-Centered Design, Understanding the Challenges Users Encounter, and Improvements to Research Design. These themes highlight trends across studies that indicate that mobility assistive products have the potential to improve the well-being of people with FD. Still, significant efforts need to be made to improve the training with these devices. Moreover, researchers, healthcare providers, and designers should carefully consider the environmental, social, and facilitating conditions that moderate acceptance of these products.Conclusion: This work advocates for more inclusive research design methodologies based on the limitations of the included studies. Ultimately, this review highlights the importance of understanding mobility assistive product acceptance among people with FD. The fusion of human-centric design and artificial intelligence capabilities has opened up new possibilities for next-generation autonomous vehicles that go beyond traditional transportation. These vehicles can dynamically interact with passengers and adapt to their preferences. This article proposes a novel framework that leverages large language models (LLMs) to enhance the decision-making process in autonomous vehicles. By utilizing LLMs’ contextual understanding abilities with specialized tools, we aim to integrate the language and reasoning capabilities of LLMs into autonomous vehicles. Our research includes experiments in HighwayEnv, a collection of environments for autonomous driving and tactical decision-making tasks, to explore LLMs’ interpretation, interaction, and reasoning in various scenarios. We also examine some well-defined real-time personalized driving tasks, demonstrating how LLMs can influence driving behaviors based on drivers’ verbal commands. Our empirical results highlight the substantial advantages of utilizing chain-of-thought prompting, leading to improved driving decisions and showing the potential for LLMs to enhance personalized driving experiences through ongoing verbal feedback. The proposed framework aims to transform autonomous vehicle operations, offering personalized support, transparent decision making, and continuous learning to enhance safety and effectiveness. The rapid growth of the e-commerce industry, driven by technological advancements and increased internet access, has intensified competition for attracting and retaining customers. In Indonesia, the shift from desktop computers to smartphones has made mobile commerce (m-commerce) increasingly dominant. PT Datascrip, a leading Indonesian company, launched Datascripmall, a B2C and B2B e-commerce marketplace, in August 2020. Despite initial success, a decline in mobile app users indicated a need for an improved user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). This research underscores the urgent need to redesign the Datascripmall mobile app's UI using the User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology, focusing on user needs and preferences. The study employed questionnaires to identify the need for clearer explanations and a more consistent interface. Adding smart features and shortcuts for experienced users was found to boost efficiency and satisfaction. Interviews with the Datascripmall manager confirmed the necessity of a UI/UX redesign to enhance mobile app user numbers. The UCD process involved understanding the context of use, specifying user requirements, designing solutions, and evaluating them against these requirements. The study highlights the benefits of a redesigned UI/UX, enhancing the user experience with greater intuitiveness and engagement. Both qualitative and quantitative data support recommendations for creating a user-friendly interface and increasing overall user engagement. The result of this redesign is a prototype framework developed using Figma, which encompasses page structure, features, and content, providing a comprehensive view of the Datascripmall application UI design. This redesign aims to enhance user satisfaction and increase user numbers, leading to a more comfortable and engaging shopping experience.

Taring Dukcapil adalah sistem untuk mengurus pembuatan dokumen kependudukan seperti kartu tanda penduduk (KTP), akta kelahiran dan lain-lain secara online. Saat ini sistem Taring Dukcapil sudah berjalan sebagaimana mestinya, namun dalam pengimplementasianya sistem ini masih belum berjalan secara maksimal. Masih terdapat beberapa permasalahan dan kebingungan yang dialami oleh pengguna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana tingkat usability sistem Taring Dukcapil menggunakan metode usability testing berdasarkan standar ISO 9241-11 dan membuat rekomendasi perbaikan antarmuka dengan pendekatan User Centered Design (UCD). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan perbandingan hasil nilai yang didapatkan pada uji usability awal sebelum dilakukan perbaikan antarmuka dengan hasil uji usability akhir setelah dilakukan perbaikan. Hasil dari uji usability awal yaitu, aspek efektivitas mendapat nilai 89%, aspek efisiensi mendapat nilai 83%, dan aspek kepuasan mendapat nilai 56,5%. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan antarmuka berdasarkan tahap-tahap pada pendekatan UCD, didapatkan hasil pada uji usability akhir yaitu adanya peningkatan nilai pada ketiga aspek antara lain nilai pada aspek efektivitas meningkat menjadi 98%, nilai pada aspek efisiensi meningkat menjadi 97% dan nilai pada aspek kepuasan meningkat menjadi 84%. Hal tersebut menunjukkan antarmuka sistem setelah dilakukan perbaikan memiliki nilai usability yang lebih baik dan dapat lebih mudah digunakan oleh pengguna dibandingkan dengan sistem sebelum dilakukan perbaikan.

Despite the explosive growth of the aging population worldwide, older adults have been largely overlooked by visualization research. This paper is a critical reflection on the underrepresentation of older adults in visualization research. We discuss why investigating visualization at the intersection of aging matters, why older adults may have been omitted from sample populations in visualization research, how aging may affect visualization use, and how this differs from traditional accessibility research. To encourage further discussion and novel scholarship in this area, we introduce GerontoVis, a term which encapsulates research and practice of data visualization design that primarily focuses on older adults. By introducing this new subfield of visualization research, we hope to shine a spotlight on this growing user population and stimulate innovation toward the development of aging‐aware visualization tools. Brain-computer interface (BCI)-controlled wheelchairs have the potential to improve the independence of people with mobility impairments. The low uptake of BCI devices has been linked to a lack of knowledge among researchers of the needs of end-users that should influence BCI development. This study used semi-structured interviews to learn about the perceptions, needs, and expectations of spinal cord injury (SCI) patients with regards to a BCI-controlled wheelchair. Topics discussed in the interview include: paradigms, shared control, safety, robustness, channel selection, hardware, and experimental design. The interviews were recorded and then transcribed. Analysis was carried out using coding based on grounded theory principles. The majority of participants had a positive view of BCI-controlled wheelchair technology and were willing to use the technology. Core issues were raised regarding safety, cost and aesthetics. Interview discussions were linked to state-of-the-art BCI technology. The results challenge the current reliance of researchers on the motor-imagery paradigm by suggesting end-users expect highly intuitive paradigms. There also needs to be a stronger focus on obstacle avoidance and safety features in BCI wheelchairs. Finally, the development of control approaches that can be personalized for individual users may be instrumental for widespread adoption of these devices. This study, based on interviews with SCI patients, indicates that BCI-controlled wheelchairs are a promising assistive technology that would be well received by end-users. Recommendations for a more person-centered design of BCI controlled wheelchairs are made and clear avenues for future research are identified. Antibiotic stewardship is continuously evolving to incorporate results from novel research, clinical findings, and specialist recommendations. Numerous dedicated information sources, including web-based solutions, are available to keep medical practitioners informed. However, the provided information is often extensive, requiring users to extract the relevant facts. This study aimed to deliver an information platform that provides references, links, and information in a straightforward and engaging manner. Implementing a high-fidelity prototype prioritized medical and patient-oriented functionalities, structured around questions and quizzes. Additionally, the platform offers access to professional references, such as official healthcare guidelines and scientific articles. The development process adhered to design principles and included user testing with established usability measures (SUS, Nielsen’s heuristics), resulting in satisfactory scores from IT experts and somewhat lower scores from users. In recent years, technologies have evolved towards social, universal and collaborative uses involving multiple users. However, methods and models from user centered design are focused on single-user design and do not take into account the impact of other users on intentions and behaviors to use the technology. The objective of this article is to provide paths of reflection on how to integrate a multi-user centered approach to existing user centered design methods and models. Each phase of user-centered design has been rethought to implement this new framework. Guidelines for moving from user experience to Multi-User eXperience (MUX) are provided. In the same way, we recommend adding a multi-user variable in the technology acceptance models to become the Multi-user Acceptance Model (MAM). User research and user testing have also been rethought to a multi-user reach and a multi-user testing. All these considerations are discussed, and lead to a proposal of a future Multi-user Centered Design (MCD) approach, specifically adapted to manage multi-user digital technology development projects. Finally, it is therefore necessary and important to direct research in the fields (acceptance, user experience, user research and user testing) to assist designers with the development of new methods of product design more respectful of social, environmental and collaborative values. Purpose: The research aim was to gather applicant expectations and perspectives with a user‐centered approach during a pilot application process for a new dental school. The goal was to inform future admissions practices at our institution and for programs broadly. Methods: The High Point University admission team developed an electronic application external to current centralized services that was launched from May to August 2022. Participants who completed the application were requested to complete an electronic survey of closed‐ and open‐ended questions about the factors influencing their application decisions, feedback about how to optimize the experience, and their overall satisfaction using a Net Promoter Score. Results: A total of 303 applicants (79% response rate) completed the survey about their application experience. The most influential reason for applying to the program was the optional Dental Admissions Test requirement (43%). Participants frequently referenced a need for a more human‐centered process focused on the candidate rather than their numerical values and that the process should be smooth, straight‐forward, short, easy, and simple. Participants requested that experiences should be weighed the most in the application process followed by letters of recommendation. Most applicants were "promoters" (68%) for the program with a Net Promoter Score of 62. Moreover, 32% and 45% rated the application process as the best or better application experience compared to other programs. Conclusion: Programs can benefit from collecting applicant's (i.e., users) opinions and feedback about their expectations and experiences to inform more user‐centered application processes. The five daily prayers are an obligation of worship for Muslims in the world. Prayers have a predetermined time schedule according to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and have different schedules according to each region. As Muslims, it is obligatory to pray five times a day. However, there are a lot of start-up company which forgot about the employee need such as praying. One of them is called byPulsa Start-up company which wants anticipates delays in praying. Because of this reason, the Ceo at byPulsa need an application to remind the employee about praying. So, this company wants to improve the additional feature into its application and develop its application more less interaction and efficient. So, this research aims to develop the previous application into an application that can remind employees to pray. In this research, Kiss Principle Method and User Centered Design were used to this application to make it more efficient and usable for user. The results show that the user feels more satisfied with the application because it has prayer schedule feature based on user's position. The CSAT score from evaluation has score 80% which higher than previous application. This application can help and guide users in exploring their religion by following online studies and using features such as prayer beads, Islamic book recommendations, even Islamic podcasts. Digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) offer potential solutions for addressing mental health care gaps, but often suffer from low engagement. Text messaging is one promising medium for increasing access and sustaining user engagement with DMHIs. This paper examines the Small Steps SMS program, an 8-week, automated, adaptive text message-based intervention for depression and anxiety. We conducted an 8-week longitudinal usability test of the Small Steps SMS program, recruiting 20 participants who met criteria for major depressive disorder and/or generalized anxiety disorder. Participants used the automated intervention for 8 weeks and completed symptom severity and usability self-report surveys after 4 and 8 weeks of intervention use. Participants also completed individual interviews to provide feedback on the intervention. Participants responded to automated messages on 70 % of study days and with 85 % of participants sending responses to messages in the 8th week of use. Usability surpassed established cutoffs for software that is considered acceptable. Depression symptom severity decreased significantly over the usability test, but reductions in anxiety symptoms were not significant. Participants noted key areas for improvement including addressing message volume, aligning message scheduling to individuals' availability, and increasing the customizability of content. This study does not contain a control group. An 8-week automated interactive text messaging intervention, Small Steps SMS, demonstrates promise with regard to being a feasible, usable, and engaging method to deliver daily mental health support to individuals with symptoms of anxiety and depression. • Daily interactive SMS is acceptable for supporting affective self-management skills. • A personalized automated SMS intervention supports sustained engagement (8 weeks). • An SMS-based mental health intervention is associated with reductions in depression. Backfold is a second-hand clothing business in Manokwari city that conventional operates with sales requiring customers to visit the store to make purchases. Therefore, a user interface and user experience website were created to facilitate online purchasing without the need to visit the store. The design of the user interface and user experience utilizes the user-centered design (UCD) method with the Figma design application. This method was chosen to design user interface and user experience that involve users based on their experiences. The results of testing using the Maze.design application show that the design of the user interface and user experience is user-friendly with an average usability score of 97.

Perpustakaan Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau menawarkan sistem perpustakaan digital sebagai wadah repository dengan mencakup jurnal online, skripsi, disertasi, riview penelitian ilmiah, e-book hingga prosiding. Dalam pelaksanaanya terdapat permasalahan yang terjadi diantaranya fitur unduh pada sistem seringkali hanya menampilkan pesan error serta tidak tersedia nya fitur layanan komentar dan share. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisa dalam segi usability serta design yang ada pada sistem perpustakaan menggunakan metode User Centered Design dengan hasil berupa direkomendasikan sebuah prototype design interface baru sesuai dengan kebutuhan user. Dalam penelitian yang dilakukan didapatkan hasil berupa 2 variabel yang ditolak sehingga harus dilakukan peningkatan layanannya, diantaranya variabel Assistance agar user bisa berkomunikasi dengan pihak pengelola dan variabel Usability agar user dapat men­-share sebuah informasi dan mengkomentari informasi yang diberikan dengan usulan perbaikan ini di implementasikan ke dalam design tampilan yang baru berdasarkan aturan atau prinsip UCD yang perhitungannya dinyatakan tidak dapat diterima tanpa mengubah design lainnya. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam pengujian usability didapatkan sebesar 86,5% yang dikategorikan sangat baik untuk keseluruhan sistem perpustakaan. User criticism on the Play Store revealed some flaws in the Kejar Mimpi App review. Observations were made on research that discussed the Kejar Mimpi Application, and it discovered that no prior research on User Experience and User Interface had been conducted. Interviews will be conducted to collect additional data, and the initial questionnaire will be distributed on May 6, 2022. Developers and designers use User-Centered Design (UCD) design methodologies to ensure that the product or system meets the users' needs. This study used the System Usability Scale (SUS) and User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) methods or techniques to assess user interface and user experience. This research has produced as many as 24 design recommendations and a style guide. The final evaluation results measured using the SUS questionnaire increased the average value by 14,9% from a value of 67 (adjective rating Ok category, grade scale D, High Marginal category) to 77 (adjective rating Good, grade scale C, Acceptable category). The results of the UEQ also have gained an average increase in the ratio, where previously most were in below-average positions, now in good positions. Research on the user interfaces analysis and user experience of the Kejar Mimpi Application has the potential to be developed further. Therefore, the author has several suggestions that can be used for further research so that prototype part can be developed again to be more responsive and use different methods for evaluation of design results, such as Eye Tracking, Cognitive Walkthrough, and Heuristic Evaluation.

Advancements in technology have impacted how people gather and obtain new information. This phenomenon is especially apparent among younger generations where there has been an increase in the number of students who are visual learners. To continue to best serve these students, librarians need to begin to adapt library instructional material, such as research guides, to also present information using visual multimedia resources. While adapting research guides to increasingly visual learners, the opportunity exists to ensure that research guides follow a user centered design. In the process of updating these guides, librarians can also provide some assistance with web accessibility by meeting several criteria from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1. This article highlights criteria from the Perceivable, Understandability, and Operable sections that can be met by non web designers. The foundation of this process is the development of a content strategy that guides the planning and adapting of research guides. This article presents some of the best practices that can be used to guide librarians as they proactively adapt their research guides to current learners learning styles, while still meeting web accessibility expectations. BackgroundText messaging interventions can be an effective and efficient way to improve health behavioral changes. However, most texting interventions are neither tested nor designed with diverse end users, which could reduce their impact, and there is limited evidence regarding the optimal design methodology of health text messages tailored to low-income, low-health literacy populations and non-English speakers.ObjectiveThis study aims to combine participant feedback, crowdsourced data, and researcher expertise to develop motivational text messages in English and Spanish that will be used in a smartphone app-based texting intervention that seeks to encourage physical activity in low-income minority patients with diabetes diagnoses and depression symptoms.MethodsThe design process consisted of 5 phases and was iterative in nature, given that the findings from each step informed the subsequent steps. First, we designed messages to increase physical activity based on the behavior change theory and knowledge from the available evidence. Second, using user-centered design methods, we refined these messages after a card sorting task and semistructured interviews (N=10) and evaluated their likeability during a usability testing phase of the app prototype (N=8). Third, the messages were tested by English- and Spanish-speaking participants on the Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) crowdsourcing platform (N=134). Participants on MTurk were asked to categorize the messages into overarching theoretical categories based on the capability, opportunity, motivation, and behavior framework. Finally, each coauthor rated the messages for their overall quality from 1 to 5. All messages were written at a sixth-grade or lower reading level and culturally adapted and translated into neutral Spanish by bilingual research staff.ResultsA total of 200 messages were iteratively refined according to the feedback from target users gathered through user-centered design methods, crowdsourced results of a categorization test, and an expert review. User feedback was leveraged to discard unappealing messages and edit the thematic aspects of messages that did not resonate well with the target users. Overall, 54 messages were sorted into the correct theoretical categories at least 50% of the time in the MTurk categorization tasks and were rated 3.5 or higher by the research team members. These were included in the final text message bank, resulting in 18 messages per motivational category.ConclusionsBy using an iterative process of expert opinion, feedback from participants that were reflective of our target study population, crowdsourcing, and feedback from the research team, we were able to acquire valuable inputs for the design of motivational text messages developed in English and Spanish with a low literacy level to increase physical activity. We describe the design considerations and lessons learned for the text messaging development process and provide a novel, integrative framework for future developers of health text messaging interventions.

Not all drugs side-effect that occur can be avoided, but those caused by drug-drug interactions (DDI) are among the most likely to be prevented and managed due to their predictability. The increasing number of drugs co-prescribed, affects the potential for drug interactions exponentially. Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) is a promising strategy to prevent patient safety risks caused by drug interactions. This study aims to design a CDSS for DDI on e-Prescription. This research is qualitative study with action research design. The research was carried out at Digital Health Innovation Studio (DHIS) UGM, and at Budi Rahayu Hospital Magelang with the implementation time November 2021 - April 2022. Data collection for user needs analysis was carried out by interviewing management, doctors and pharmacists at the hospital, and also pharmacologists. Design and development of CDSS-DDI was executed in collaboration with DHIS UGM programmers. The evaluation was done by interviews and a System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire filled in by 17 system-related users. CDSS-DDI successfully developed according to user needs, it can be accessed by doctors and pharmacy units. The drug interaction warning display pop-up appears on one screen in the e-Prescription menu with a description of drug interactions in Bahasa. Drug interaction data refers to the National Drug Information Center (PIONas) which is managed by the POM. CDSS-DDI then implemented in hospital after going through socialization. Based on evaluation with SUS data processing tools, the CDSS-DDI received a score of 83 in the acceptable category and excellent rating. Based on results of evaluation interviews, CDSS for DDI is considered to have been successfully developed with the principle of user centered design and optimally efficient to help improve the quality of patient care.

Studio Intro Semarang merupakan salah satu studio musik yang ada di kota Semarang. Studio ini memliki kendala yaitu kurangnya promosi dikarenakan terhalang pandemic Covid-19 yang menyebabkan studio kurang dikenal masyarakat luas. Proses reservasi masih dilakukan secara manual yang menyebabkan pengguna studio harus datang langsung akan membuang banyak waktu. Pendataan yang dilakukan juga menggunakan cara manual dengan resiko kehilangan data. Oleh karena itu untuk mempermudah proses penyewaan dan pengelolaan di Studio Intro Semarang, dibuatlah sistem informasi penyewaan dan pengelolaan ruang studio berbasis website. Perancangan sistem informasi penyewaan ini dilakukan dengan menerapkan metode User Centered Design dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan database MySQL. Hasil pengujian menggunakan black box testing dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa sistem yang telah dibuat dapat berfungsi dan presentase keberhasilan dari setiap menu yaitu 100%.
