Hybrid manufacturing systems utilising raw materials and returned end-of-life products for production are studied. The systems are failure-prone and subject to inventory, market demand and return uncertainties. Thanks to growing environmental and sustainability concerns, the manufacturing sector is currently experiencing a significant growth in the popularity of reverse logistics. However, the practical implementation of production control in such systems is challenging due to return flow uncertainty and variability. To address this challenge, an estimation-based control using the Kalman filter is proposed in this research. The demand and return models employed contain random and deterministic components, with the latter being time-invariant for demand and uncertain with seasonal variations for return. The processing steps used include the estimation of inventory levels and demand and return components, return forecasting allowing cost computation over a long horizon, and the determination of the production and disposal policies adapting to market variations and uncertainties. We classify the systems according to relationships between their production capacity, demand and return ranges. We then present an extensive numerical study of optimal policies for various system classes and show that adaptive policies outperform the conventional ones, thus proving the effectiveness of the proposed production control approach for complex industrially oriented systems. The purpose of this paper is to enlarge the scope of existing EOQ-type models by incorporating uncertain product returns that may include time or quantity restrictions. In this inventory control problem, the item's demand is deterministic and occurs at a known constant rate over time. Product returns arrive according to a Poisson process. The amount returned to the seller at each return epoch is a random or fixed fraction of the accumulated number of units (net of previous returns) that have been demanded so far within a stock cycle. The ordering policy is a continuous review policy that orders a fixed quantity every time an order is placed. The replenishment lead time is instantaneous, and shortages are not allowed. The objective is to find optimal order quantities by minimising the long-run average total costs per unit time. Costs include a fixed plus proportional cost per order, and a holding cost per unit held in inventory per unit time. A level-crossing approach is used to derive a closed-form expression for the expected ordering and inventory holding costs as a function of the order size and other relevant parameters. We seek to optimize the production planning of a three-echelon remanufacturing system under uncertain input data. We consider a multi-stage stochastic integer programming approach and use scenario trees to represent the uncertain information structure. We introduce a new dynamic programming formulation that relies on a partial nested decomposition of the scenario tree. We then propose a new approximate stochastic dual dynamic integer programming algorithm based on this partial decomposition. This article shows that the PID control, applied in linear systems, is introduced to handle the adaptive fixed-time PID-based control issue of uncertain nonlinear systems. For handling smooth complex unknown nonlinearities existing in the considered system, neural networks will be introduced to estimate these functions. ABSTRACT This paper addresses neural‐network‐based adaptive prescribed‐time (PT) tracking for uncertain switched systems with unmatched nonlinearities. A continuously switched adaptive tuning mechanism for neural network learning is developed by applying the average dwell time (ADT). First, a neural‐network‐based PT tracking control design strategy using the ADT‐based adaptive tuning mechanism is established for switched nonlinear systems in strict‐feedback form. A novel adaptive dynamic surface controller is designed recursively using a practical finite‐time scaling function and continuously switched tuning parameters. The switched adaptive tuning laws for neural networks are structured to reduce the conservatism associated with common adaptive laws. Then, a filter‐based tuning approach is employed to ensure the continuity of switched adaptive parameters with ADT in the designed controller. The practical PT stability of the closed‐loop system is demonstrated based on the boundedness of the adaptive parameters. Building upon this foundation, the proposed PT design approach is extended to control switched pure‐feedback nonlinear systems, even in cases where control directions are unspecified. The unknown sign problem encountered with switched virtual and actual control coefficient functions is resolved in the PT control framework. It is shown that the PT performance bound of the tracking error can be reduced by selecting the design parameter of the scaling function. ABSTRACT In this article, new linear matrix inequality (LMI) conditions are proposed to guarantee robust stability of the closed‐loop of the linear time‐invariant one‐dimensional uncertain system by dealing with both continuous‐time (CT) and discrete‐time (DT) cases. These improved conditions for robust state feedback control combine the non‐monotonic approach and Finsler's technique. The benefit of the non‐monotonic approach returns to the utility of an arbitrary number of quadratic functions by considering the higher order derivatives of the vector field in the CT case (or the higher order differences of the vector field in the DT case). Finsler's technique aims to solve the closed‐loop stability problem in a larger parametric space. The strong points of the suggested LMI conditions are easy to program, eliminate the product between the state matrix and Lyapunov matrices, reduce the constraints by avoiding the decrease monotonically along trajectories for each quadratic Lyapunov function, guarantee the robust stability of the closed‐loop by using a state‐feedback gain. In the study (Wang et al. 2014), an adaptive reaching law is developed for sliding mode control (SMC). However, a potential issue arises when the sliding mode surface slides at the neighborhood of the origin, causing the adaptive gain in the mentioned scheme to chatter repeatedly. This results in input command chattering and has a negative impact on the stability of the system. In order to address this problem caused by the adaptive gain and switching function in SMC, and to further improve convergence performance, a new adaptive reaching law is proposed. This proposed reaching law improves upon the previous adaptive gain and ensures stable operation as the new adaptive gain converges to a small neighborhood of the origin. This improvement prevents chattering and guarantees that the tracking error of the system converges within a finite time. This research presents an innovative selected maintenance model for complex systems that considers the uncertainty in maintenance time (MT) for system components with multiple repairpersons. The computational model of uncertain MT for system components is established. An imperfect maintenance model is introduced, which has many imperfect maintenance levels not only considering do nothing, minimal repair, and replacement but also considering multiple intermediate maintenance levels. Furthermore, the system components maintenance assignment algorithm with multiple repairpersons is proposed to addresses the problem of how to assign multiple maintenance tasks to multiple repairpersons in order to minimize system MT. And it is innovatively integrated into the particle swarm optimization (PSO) to solve the proposed selective maintenance model, which enables heuristic algorithm to efficiently assign the multiple maintenance tasks with multiple repairpersons. A new dual‐motor servo steering system with improved reliability and safety is proposed. But, despite the advantages of the proposed servo system, it is strongly coupled, non‐linear and multivariable, where the biggest challenge lies in its tracking and synchronization control. To improve the tracking and synchronization control performance of the proposed servo system, a tracking and synchronization control strategy based on backstepping super‐twisting control and multi‐level differential coupling is presented. First, a parallel model of the dual‐motor is established. Then, backstepping and super‐twisting control algorithms are integrated while adaptively optimizing key parameters to ensure the robustness and tracking performance of each motor. After that, an angular synchronization controller with multi‐level differential coupling and backstepping super‐twisting algorithm is proposed to compensate for the synchronization error of the dual‐motor system caused by parameter uncertainty. Finally, the simulation is carried out using Simulink to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. In this paper, the problem of output tracking control is considered for a class of uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems with virtual control coefficients and full state constraints. It is assumed only that the nonlinear uncertainties of the systems are some smooth functions enough to guarantee the existence of solutions to the differential equations which describe uncertain systems, and that the virtual control coefficients are unknown. Based on backstepping algorithm, by combining the barrier Lyapunov function with an integral inequality reported in the current control literature, a design method is presented whereby a simple adaptive robust output tracking control scheme can be synthesised. The presented design method can evade the repeated differentiation problem appearing in using backstepping algorithm, and need not know all the nonlinear upper bounds of uncertainties, which are repeatedly employed at each step of backstepping procedure. It is also shown that the output tracking error of the uncertain nonlinear systems with both unknown virtual control coefficients and full state constraints can converge uniformly exponentially towards a ball which can be as small as desired. Finally, a numerical example is given, and the corresponding simulations are also implemented to demonstrate the simplicity of the proposed method and the validity of the theoretical results. This article explores a distributed optimal coordination control problem for multiple Euler–Lagrange systems with actuator faults. To address this problem, an event-triggered fault-tolerant optimisation algorithm is first proposed to eliminate unexpected faults and reduce the consumption of control resources. In order to further enhance the system's reliability, another algorithm based on the Nussbaum function is proposed to handle faulted systems with uncertain control directions. Note that an auxiliary system with adaptive gains is introduced to eliminate the need for agents to interact with their actual state information, and thus has the effect of protecting privacy. Moreover, the stochastic semi-Markov jumping networks are considered in the algorithms to describe the switching process of uncertain communication graphs. Additionally, the algorithms are fully distributed since it does not require global information of topologies. The problem of robust tracking and model following is reconsidered for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with some uncertainties and dead-zone input constraints. In this paper, the system uncertainties are regarded as some nonlinear functions which are not required to must satisfy the matching conditions. That is, being different from traditional robust control theory, the matched structures of uncertainties are sufficient, but not necessary, for being able always to design some types of robust tracking control schemes. In addition, the external disturbances of dynamical systems are assumed to be any bounded functions which is not also required to satisfy the matching condition. By making use of the integral inequality, instead of Lyapunov function, a class of robust tracking control schemes is constructed to guarantee the uniform exponential boundedness of the model tracking errors. Moreover, the upper bounds of nonlinear uncertainties are not required to be known, and it is also unnecessary to know or estimate the characteristic parameters of dead-zone functions. Therefore, the resulting robust tracking control schemes have a simple structure. Actually, the resulting robust tracking control scheme is a linear feedback control one with a self-tuning control gain. A new approach for the synthesis of polytopic $ L_{2}-L_{\infty } $ L 2 − L ∞ filters is proposed for uncertain systems over Finite Frequency (FF) ranges. The novelty derives from the use of FF specifications combined with the $ L_{2}-L_{\infty } $ L 2 − L ∞ performance index: First, conditions are provided for the asymptotic stability of the polytopic augmented systems, by trace calculation of matrices and the use of Finsler's Lemma. Then, synthesis conditions are proposed as LMIs for the polytopic filter parameters over several FF intervals. Furthermore, the use of slack matrices through Finsler's Lemma provides design conditions with less conservative outcomes. In this paper, an output feedback controller using iterative learning algorithm is proposed for stabilising a class of uncertain nonlinear single-input single-output (SISO) systems with unknown bounded disturbances. By dividing the time interval into equal iteration periods, iterative learning algorithm is integrated into output feedback control and is carried out under alignment condition. Using the output signal, control input and estimates of uncertain parameters, adaptive state observers are established to generate state estimates which will be employed to design the control law. Based on the backstepping technique, the output feedback controller is developed consisting of the ILC part and robust control part. Different from the traditional ILC update laws of uncertain parameters with constant gains, a novel type of parameter update law is developed where the ILC gain is variable and determined by the real-time state estimates such that system stability can be guaranteed. By virtue of the composite energy function, it is proved that all the signals of the closed-loop system are bounded and the output will uniformly converge to zero along the iteration axis, which indicates the stabilisation of the output signal over the time domain. This paper studies a safe model predictive control (MPC)-based disturbance rejection control for a broad range of uncertain nonlinear systems subject to complex state safety constraints. The system under study is composed of a nominal model and an uncertain term that encapsulates modeling uncertainty, control mismatch, and external disturbances. In order to estimate the system state and total uncertainty, an extended state observer (ESO) is first designed. Utilizing the output of the ESO, the control compensates for the total uncertainty in real time and concurrently implements a control barrier function (CBF)-based MPC for the compensated system. The proposed control framework guarantees both safety and disturbance rejection. Compared to the baseline algorithm CBF-MPC, the proposed method significantly enhances system stability with a smaller root mean square (RMS) error of the system state from the equilibrium point. This paper presents a novel methodology that combines fractional-order control theory with robust control under a parametric uncertainty approach to enhance the performance of linear time-invariant uncertain systems with integer or fractional order, referred to as Fractional-Order Robust Control (FORC). In contrast to traditional approaches, the proposed methodology introduces a novel formulation of inequalities-based design, thus expanding the potential for discovering improved solutions through linear programming optimization. As a result, fractional order controllers are designed to guarantee desired transient and steady-state performance in a closed-loop system. To enable the digital implementation of the designed controller, an impulse response invariant discretization of fractional-order differentiators (IRID-FOD) is employed to approximate the fractional-order controllers to an integer-order transfer function. Additionally, Hankel's reduction order method is applied, thus making it suitable for hardware deployment. Adaptive control strategies have been developed in response to more advanced complex systems and to deal with uncertain systems while maintaining the desired conditions. This paper addresses the networked unknown and unstable heterogeneous systems following a stable reference (leader), which is related to network synchronization. We deliver two different scenarios; each agent both fully communicates to the leader and shares communication among neighborhood agents and the leader. The communication among agents and the leader are weighted using Laplacian-like matrix and the model weight matrix in turn. Also, the state and input delays are induced to the systems to capture the real limited communication while the prediction of the reference signals and the augmented systems are proposed to deal with them. Moreover, the rigorous mathematical foundations of two adaptive laws, the stability analysis, the threshold of network, and the communication network are thoroughly presented. Also, the numerical illustrations of the two scenarios are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method in the networked system. The results show that for both scenarios working on the required setting, the perfect tracking to the leader is guaranteed. This article proposes a tracking control strategy based on fixed‐time for uncertain nonlinear systems with prescribed performance and actuator faults. Fuzzy logic systems are used to model unknown functions with uncertainties or fuzzy parameter features. The improvement of the conventional backstepping method through the introduction of command filtering technology has effectively addressed the challenge of a sharp increase in computational complexity during controller design. Additionally, a mechanism for error compensation has been established to mitigate the potential impact of errors that may arise during the filtering process on the system. Then, a new fixed‐time performance function is introduced into the adaptive backstepping method to ensure that the tracking signal with output error converges to an arbitrarily small neighborhood within a fixed time. Additionally, in order to enhance the tracking performance of the control method, the controller algorithm incorporates fault‐tolerant control based on the fixed‐time performance function. Under the theoretical support of fuzzy sets theory and confidence index, the proposed approach involves the development of a high‐order robust control method that incorporates optimization techniques to address uncertain systems. First, the utilization of fuzzy sets theory is employed to establish a fuzzy dynamical model. Second, the design of a high‐order robust controller is performed. Third, the design parameters are optimized based on confidence index, and the values are found that minimize the control cost. The simulation results show that this high‐order robust control has significant advantages in dealing with uncertainty, as well as minimizing the control cost. This article focuses on the problem of robust adaptive safety control of a class of nonlinear systems with parametric uncertainties. Two novel definitions, that is, robust adaptive control Lyapunov function (RACLF) and robust adaptive control barrier function (RACBF) are introduced in this article. Also, an estimation of unknown parameters is obtained based on multiple identification models, state predictors and a logic switching mechanism. The switching mechanism plays a vital role in enhancing the transient properties of nonlinear systems. Meanwhile, a safe motion framework for differential robots is provided based on the existence of parametric uncertainties in RACLF and RACBF, and a safe and stable controller is obtained by solving quadratic programming. The highly dynamic properties of maneuvering targets make it intractable for radars to predict the target motion states accurately and quickly, and low-grade predicted states depreciate the efficiency of resource allocation. To overcome this problem, we introduce the modified current statistical (MCS) model, which incorporates the input-acceleration transition matrix into the augmented state transition matrix, to predict the motion state of a maneuvering target. Based on this, a robust resource allocation strategy is developed for maneuvering target tracking (MTT) in a netted opportunistic array radar (OAR) system under uncertain conditions. The mechanism of the strategy is to minimize the total transmitting power conditioned on the desired tracking performance. The predicted conditional Cramér–Rao lower bound (PC-CRLB) is deemed as the optimization criterion, which is derived based on the recently received measurement so as to provide a tighter lower bound than the posterior CRLB (PCRLB). For the uncertainty of the target reflectivity, we encapsulate the determined resource allocation model with chance-constraint programming (CCP) to balance resource consumption and tracking performance. A hybrid intelligent optimization algorithm (HIOA), which integrates a stochastic simulation and a genetic algorithm (GA), is employed to solve the CCP problem. The rapid dynamic responses of predictive control algorithms are widely acknowledged. However, achieving accurate steady-state reference tracking hinges not just on a precise mathematical model of the system but also on its parameters. This document presents a predictive control scheme augmented with integral state feedback tailored to a photovoltaic (PV) application. In scenarios with uncertain system parameters, steady-state errors can particularly impact reactive power regulation, where the absence of an integral term in the loop exacerbates this issue. This article addresses the optimal tracking control problem with prescribed performance for uncertain nonlinear systems subject to input constraint and unknown disturbances. First, a fixed‐time monotonic convergence function is introduced to restrain tracking error, and a nonlinear mapping technique is employed to transform the constrained error into an unconstrained variable, then the fixed‐time output tracking issue is boiled down to the boundedness problem of the transformed variable. With the aid of a nonquadratic cost function, the input constraint is encoded into the optimization problem. To solve the unknown disturbances, an auxiliary system and an auxiliary disturbance policy are constructed, and the optimal control problem is formulated as a two‐player zero‐sum game. Moreover, a Hamilton–Jacobi–Isaacs (HJI) equation associated with this nonquadratic zero‐sum game is established to give the optimal control and the worst‐case disturbance policy solution. Subsequently, to avoid using knowledge of the system dynamics, three neural network approximators, namely, actor, critic, and disturbance, which are tuned online and simultaneously for approximating the solution of HJI, are constructed based on the integral reinforcement learning algorithm. Theoretical analysis shows that the reconstructed error system states and the weight estimation errors are semi‐globally uniformly ultimately bounded. In this article, we introduced a novel definition for a class of extended Nussbaum functions that have looser requirements than the traditional Nussbaum function. The extended Nussbaum function achieves comparable performance to the traditional Nussbaum function while addressing the challenges of unknown control directions and time‐varying actuator faults. We then provide a specific example function based on the extended Nussbaum function definition. Unlike the traditional Nussbaum function, which oscillates with fixed frequency and constantly increasing amplitude, this example function constrains the amplitude and oscillates with decreasing frequency. Consequently, its amplitude and derivative remain bounded. The oscillation of the system caused by the too large amplitude of the traditional Nussbaum function can be avoided. Furthermore, this example function is constructed using portions of elliptic curve. As a result, it is continuous and differentiable, in contrast to the normal decreasing‐frequency Nussbaum function using trigonometric function, which is only continuous. The overall closed‐loop system's global stability and asymptotic convergence of system states are successfully achieved. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed function. This study addresses the state feedback control associated with D-admissible assurance for discrete singular systems subjected to parameter uncertainties in both the difference term and system matrices. Firstly, a refined analysis criterion of D-admissible assurance is presented, where the distinct form embraces multiple slack matrices and has lessened linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) constraints, which may be beneficial for reducing the conservatism of admissibility analysis. In consequence, by hiring the state feedback control, controller design issues with pole locations, which directly dominate the system performance, are mainly treated. For all the presented criteria can be formulated by the strict LMIs, they are thus suitably solved via current LMI solvers to conduct a state feedback controller with specific poles' locations of system's performance requirements. Event-triggering mechanisms reported in the existing prescribed-time (PT) control do not adequately capture the dynamic nature of network environments, and are not applied to distributed consensus tracking problems with unknown time delays. Therefore, designing a dynamic event-triggering mechanism is crucial to ensuring PT stability, even in the presence of unknown time delays. This article focuses on developing a dynamic event-triggering mechanism to achieve adaptive practical PT output-feedback consensus tracking for nonlinear uncertain multiagent systems with unknown time delays. Firstly, a delay-independent PT state observer using a time-varying gain function is designed to estimate the immeasurable states. Following this, a novel distributed delay-independent PT consensus tracking scheme is constructed, incorporating a dynamic event-triggered mechanism through the command-filtered backstepping approach. In this design, dynamic variables based on a time-varying gain function are developed to support the event-triggering mechanism, ensuring practical stability within the prescribed settling time. Consequently, the proposed output-feedback control protocol can achieve practical PT stability, meaning that consensus tracking errors are constrained to a neighborhood around zero within a pre-specified time, regardless of the initial states of the agents or design parameters, while also avoiding the Zeno phenomenon. This paper proposes a second-order terminal sliding mode (2TSM) approach to the trajectory tracking of the differential drive mobile robot (DDMR). Within this cascaded control scheme, the 2TSM dynamic controller, at the innermost loop, tracks the robot's velocity quantities while a kinematic controller, at the outermost loop, regulates the robot's positions. In this manner, chattering is greatly attenuated, and finite-time convergence is guaranteed by the second-order TSM manifold, which involves higher-order derivatives of the state variables, resulting in an inherently robust as well as fast and better tracking precision. For nonlinear systems with uncertain state time delays, an adaptive neural optimal tracking control method based on finite time is designed. With the help of the appropriate LKFs, the time-delay problem is handled. A novel nonquadratic Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) function is defined, where finite time is selected as the upper limit of integration. This function contains information on the state time delay, while also maintaining the basic information. To meet specific requirements, the integral reinforcement learning method is employed to solve the ideal HJB function. Then, a tracking controller is designed to ensure finite-time convergence and optimization of the controlled system. This involves the evaluation and execution of gradient descent updates of neural network weights based on a reinforcement learning architecture. In this study, it is considered that the question of adaptive tracking control of nonlinear systems containing unknown time‐varying parameters. To optimize the control effect, a fixed‐time control strategy is adopted, in which the upper bound of the settling time is connected with the designed parameters, but not to the initial conditions. In the design, the unknown time‐varying parameters are treated as the multiplication of known and unknown vectors, and the adaptive laws are constructed to estimate the mean value of the components in the unknown ones, which availably solve the difficulty of unknown control gains. Besides, the application of command filtered technique, which combined with the compensation signals containing the adaptive parameters, effectively avoids the "complexity explosion" problem. Further, Lyapunov stability theory verifies that the tracking error can always be kept within the boundaries of the performance functions, and converges to a designated neighbourhood of the origin within a fixed time, beyond that all signals of the closed‐loop system are bounded. Due to variable and complex work environments, nonlinearities, uncertainty and disturbances are inevitable in multi‐agent systems. Approximation‐free control can address these issues without involving approximators, such as fuzzy logic systems and neural networks. However, some issues like the singularity problem caused by the signals exceeding the preset boundary in changing work conditions still remain. This paper proposes an adaptive and reliable approximation‐free control, which comprises a novel singularity compensator and a modified transforming function. The proposed control scheme performs better in terms of convergence rate and overshoot, avoids issues relating to singularity, and has added flexibility in terms of parameter choice. This article focuses on the fixed-time stability of a class of nonlinear systems with uncertain disturbances and time-varying delays. Different from other papers, the second-order sliding mode control algorithm (SOSMCA) is developed in this article to study the fixed-time stability of nonlinear systems for the first time. Additionally, the novel sliding mode surface (SMC) and second-order SMC are presented. And the stability and reachability of the sliding-mode dynamics under a faster settling time are demonstrated. There are few distributed finite-time optimization results of nonlinear multiagent systems in the published literatures, especially in the case that system nonlinearities are unknown. In this paper, distributed finite-time optimization problem is investigated for higher-order multiagent systems with uncertain nonlinearities. The agent dynamics are permitted to be heterogeneous with different nonlinearities and different orders. This problem is solved by embedded control approach-based distributed finite-time optimization algorithms, which consist of two parts. In the first part, a first-order finite-time optimal signal generator is designed, of which outputs reach the minimizer of the global cost function in finite time. In the second part, embedding the generator into the feedback loop and taking the outputs of the generator as the reference outputs of the agents, and combining finite-time control and feedback domination technique together, tracking controllers are designed for the higher-order nonlinear multiagent systems to track their local optimal reference outputs in finite time. It is rigorously proven that under the proposed distributed optimization algorithms, all the agent outputs reach a bounded neighbor region of the global minimizer in finite time. This article considers the following problems for a parametric uncertain (affine) linear time-invariant system. The first problem is: Let a feedback gain matrix be designed such that the states of the closed loop system satisfy the specified transient performance bounds. Then, compute a ball in the uncertain parameter space such that for all parameter perturbations within it, the state response continues to satisfy the same transient performance bounds. The second problem is on the synthesis of a robust static state feedback control, which i) minimises the norm of the gain matrix, ii) maximises the radius of the ball in the uncertain parameter space, and iii) ensures achieving specified transient performance in the closed loop. For this, a sub-optimal linear matrix inequality optimisation is formulated. The developed results are demonstrated with numerical examples. A proficient design procedure is proposed for the periodic compensation of uncertain systems with the conformation of uncertainty bound. This article delves into the intricate challenge of implementing prescribed-time command filtered control in the context of uncertain nonlinear systems. Firstly, a prescribed-time function is defined to lay the groundwork for subsequent controller design. Subsequently, a novel prescribed-time command Filtered controller is proposed for high-order nonlinear systems featuring unknown parameters. This controller guarantees swift error convergence within a predefined time range, with the added capability of periodic error convergence to zero during subsequent controller operations. A pivotal innovation in this study lies in the controller's design, which remains unaffected by the system's initial conditions. This unique feature enables the prescribed time to be flexibly set within physical constraints, diverging markedly from conventional finite-time control theory. This paper addresses the event-triggered prescribed-time control problem for a class of high-order nonlinear systems based on finite time-varying gain. Due to the existence of unknown gain functions and system uncertainties, the resultant control with prescribed-time convergence performance becomes nontrivial. The problem becomes even more complex due to the use of event-based communication instead of continuous communication. To tackle the aforementioned challenges, this paper proposes an event-triggered prescribed-time stabilization approach with the following key steps. Firstly, we establish a new prescribed-time stability lemma to overcome the technical difficulty arising from the prescribed-time controller design, and stability analysis. Secondly, we give the controller design procedure upon using the backstepping technique. Thirdly, we redesign the event-triggering threshold condition based on time-varying functions, which allows the controller terminal jitter to be mitigated and the controller to be implemented straightforwardly in practice. This article develops an event-triggered cooperative robust formation control scheme for nonlinear multi-agent systems with dynamic uncertainties via reinforcement learning. By formulating a modified value function for each agent, the cooperative robust formation control problem of uncertain multi-agent systems is transformed into a cooperative optimal formation control problem of its nominal plant. To save communication and computing resources, a novel triggering condition is developed for each agent, and the controller is renovated only when an event occurs. Subsequently, the event-triggered optimal formation control law of each agent is derived by solving the coupled Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation via single-critic structure. Furthermore, theoretical analysis indicates that the developed event-triggered cooperative robust formation control approach ensures the asymptotic stability of the formation error for each uncertain agent. This work introduces a new actuator fault estimation approach coupled with a fault‐tolerant control (FTC) strategy for uncertain systems in an output feedback framework. The proposed method involves constructing a Multi‐Layer Neural Network (MLNN) observer‐based fault estimation unit to accurately predict system states and potential faults in the actuator channel. An online control allocation (CA) scheme is then developed, utilizing the derived estimates to actively reconfigure the virtual control signals among the healthy redundant actuators in the event of actuator malfunction. Furthermore, an adaptive neural network‐based output integral sliding mode control scheme is designed based on the virtual control. This integration enhances the overall system's robustness and significantly reduces the chattering effect. The stability analysis of the proposed fault estimations scheme is initially performed using MLNN structure, followed by a comprehensive closed‐loop stability analysis to establish the stability of the entire system. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is validated on a nonlinear six‐degree‐of‐freedom model of multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle aircraft. Numerical simulations under different fault and failure scenarios validate the efficacy of the proposed method. The comparative analysis of the proposed scheme is conducted with the static output feedback control allocations and adaptive allocation strategy. This analysis focuses on evaluating performance using metrics such as root mean square error and mean square deviation, particularly in the presence of faults and failures. For systems with uncertain parameters, it is very important to find a controller that can satisfy the preset robustness. The traditional method often ignores the influence of parameter coupling on the set boundary system when substituting the original system with the boundary system group, resulting in the calculated controller value region being too conservative. In this article, noise information is introduced based on affine algorithm to describe uncertain system parameters. Then, based on Kharitonov theorem, a new grouping method for boundary systems is proposed. This method takes the parameter coupling information into account when determining the boundary system, and avoids the problem of interval conservation. On this basis, a virtual phase margin tester is introduced to ensure that the obtained controller parameter range can make the system meet the specific robustness requirements. In the present article, the matrix projective synchronization (MPS) and the inverse matrix projective synchronization (IMPS) have been analyzed with fractional‐order chaotic systems with uncertain terms. First, we theoretically discussed both types of synchronizations. To achieve both types of synchronization, several required conditions are derived. We also drew portraits of Lyapunov's exponents and bifurcation for more analysis. Furthermore, time‐delay terms are also considered, giving an elegant application in real‐world problems. For nonlinear systems subjected to external disturbances, an adaptive terminal sliding mode control (TSM) approach with fixed-time convergence is presented in this paper. The introduction of the fixed-time TSM with the sliding surface and the new Lemma of fixed-time stability are the main topics of discussion. The suggested approach demonstrates quick convergence, smooth and non-singular control input, and stability within a fixed time. Existing fixed-time TSM schemes are often impacted by unknown dynamics such as uncertainty and disturbances. Therefore, the proposed strategy is developed by combining the fixed-time TSM with an adaptive scheme. This adaptive method deals with an uncertain dynamic system when there are external disturbances. The stability of a closed-loop structure in a fixed-time will be shown by the findings of the Lyapunov analysis. In this article, the adaptive event-triggered fault-tolerant control (FTC) issue of uncertain nonlinear systems suffering from sensor and actuator faults as well as external disturbances is studied. A disturbance observer (DO) is constructed to compensate for external disturbances and approximation errors generated by neural networks (NNs). Then, switching event-triggered control and command filtering techniques are introduced to balance the communication frequency and tracking performance of the controlled systems while avoiding “explosion of complexity” issue caused by iterative derivations of virtual controllers. Furthermore, compensation signals are designed to eliminate filtered errors. Finally, it is proven that the developed FTC scheme can esure that all signals are bounded and free from Zeno phenomenon. Robust regulation is predictively investigated in time-delay models including uncertainties, non-zero reference, and disturbance. Hence, to handle the complexities induced because of the time-delays, disturbances, and uncertainties, enhancing the transient performance would be a main control goal. This study employs a sophisticated bi‐level optimization methodology to model the most efficient operation of microgrids (MGs) within the operational framework of distribution companies (DCs). In this bi‐level optimization problem, the upper level strives to maximize the profits of both MGs owners and DCs, while the lower level is dedicated to ensuring load balance, managing distributed generation, and implementing load curtailment strategies. The coordination of power transmission is facilitated by the DCs. At the upper level of decision‐making, the optimal pricing strategies for power transactions are determined, accounting for various factors such as market prices, demand response programs, and uncertainties in wind speed. Through the utilization of a bi‐level optimization framework, this study comprehensively captures the complex interactions between MGs and DCs, taking into consideration the objectives and constraints of both entities. This article proposes a novel robust invariance condition for uncertain linear discrete-time systems with state and control constraints, utilizing a method of semidefinite programming duality. Sensor fault detection is an important phase for process surveillance. Indeed, successful execution of process tasks depends on the state of the available data. In industrial applications, systems have an uncertain behavior, so methods based on interval principles are useful in this context, such as interval kernel principal component analysis (IKPCA) and Interval-Kernel-Partial-Least Square (IKPLS). These techniques do not always achieve efficiency since they are based on an invariant time. To overcome this restriction, we used a sliding windows principle to develop these methods in dynamic uncertain systems. In addition, a small size of the sliding window can improve the computation time and adapt to the rapidly changing process dynamics. It is for this reason that we propose a second method; the reduced rank moving window IKPCA method (MW-RRIKPCA), In order to improve the performance of the suggested methods based on sliding windows, compared to classical ones, we carried out a comparative study using Tennessee Eastman process (TEP) data and the air quality monitoring network (AIRLOR). A low-complexity global fault-tolerant control method is proposed to solve the tracking problem of uncertain pure-feedback systems in the presence of sensor faults. First, a novel modeling approach is introduced to reconstruct the non-affine term, which removes the restriction that the non-affine function must be differentiable. Second, a novel nonlinear mapping based on inverse-tangent function is utilized in the controller design such that the control parameters are free from initial values of states compared to the traditional prescribed performance control methods, resulting in global fault-tolerant control of pure-feedback systems under sensor and actuator faults. Furthermore, the designed global controller is low-complexity in the sense that no time derivatives of system signals are involved in the controller, and no neural networks or fuzzy logic systems are used, though unknown nonlinearities are present in the considered systems, and the control parameters are allowed to be arbitrary positive constants. Current concepts of corticothalamic organization in the mammalian brain are mainly based on sensory systems, with less focus on circuits for higher-order cognitive functions. In sensory systems, first-order thalamic relays are driven by subcortical inputs and modulated by cortical feedback, while higher-order relays receive strong excitatory cortical inputs. The applicability of these principles beyond sensory systems is uncertain. We investigated mouse prefronto-thalamic projections to the midline thalamus, revealing distinct top-down control. Unlike sensory systems, this pathway relies on indirect modulation via the thalamic reticular nucleus (TRN). Specifically, the prelimbic area, which influences emotional and motivated behaviors, impacts instrumental avoidance responses through direct and indirect projections to the paraventricular thalamus. Both pathways promote defensive states, but the indirect pathway via the TRN is essential for organizing avoidance decisions through disinhibition. Our findings highlight intra-thalamic circuit dynamics that integrate cortical cognitive signals and their role in shaping complex behaviors. How prefronto-thalamic circuits shape emotional and motivated behaviors are not fully understood. Here authors report a top-down modulation in mouse prefronto-thalamic projections. In this paper, passive control and H ∞ state feedback based on non-fragile observer are presented for a class of uncertain, nonlinear and input time-delay systems. Firstly, taking uncertainties, nonlinearities and input time-delay into account, non-fragile observer and controller are designed and the perturbations of controller gain and observer gain are processed. Secondly, for the dynamic disturbances, an appropriate non-fragile state feedback controller based on the observation is selected to prove that the states of closed-loop system can be passive and stabilized with H ∞ performance for continuous time system. This paper proposes an optimization approach for allocating power quality monitors (PQMs) aiming to monitor all harmonic resonance conditions while taking power system uncertainties into account. The placement approach utilizes the frequency scan response for calculating impedances over a range of frequencies and consequently determining harmonic resonance conditions. Thereby, it is capable of building binary matrices, which include harmonic resonance conditions. Also, by utilizing the union operator at binary matrices, power system uncertainties such as photovoltaic generation and load level can be considered in the allocation method. The placement approach is expressed as a linear problem that determines the best locations of PQMs and their optimal number so that they monitor all harmonic resonance conditions. Besides, by considering the area of harmonic pollution of non‐linear loads in the proposed method, owners of electrical networks can find a solution with fewer PQMs to monitor harmonic resonance orders inside a particular area of the network. The performance of the presented approach is demonstrated using the 15‐node distribution network and a real electrical network, as well as a real large electrical network in Iran.
