Smart responsive materials that can alter their function in response to environmental changes are attractive for their potential applications in intelligent devices and products. Herein, a smart material that exhibits reversible changes in multiple properties upon variations in humidity or temperature is created. The material spontaneously transits between hydrated and dehydrated states in response to fluctuations in the surrounding humidity or temperature. Consisting of a mixture of poly(propylene glycol) (PPG) with urea linkages (PPGurea) and ionic liquid [EMIM][TFSI], the transition is attributed to a series of synergetic interactions among various chemical components and groups, including ether‐cation coordination, water‐anion complex, urea‐urea bidentate hydrogen bonds, and cation–anion electrostatic interactions. In the hydrated state, with a very small amount (4–5 wt%) of spontaneously absorbed moisture content, the smart material is soft, transparent, and conductive, and possesses rapid self‐healing ability. Upon dehydration, the material transits into a phase‐separated system with PPG‐rich and IL‐rich phases, resulting in opacity, severely reduced ionic conductivity, yet significantly enhanced stiffness, strength, and toughness. The drastic change in multiple properties makes it an intelligent material well‐suited for various smart applications such as sensors, 3D printed optoelectronics and smart windows, which can automatically alter their functions to adapt to environmental changes. In the current study, cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) reinforced cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) composite film was fabricated via spin-coating. For the application to the transparent and flexible substrate, the physical characteristics of the composite film were investigated, such as transparency, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), thermal properties and scratch resistance. COC was used as a matrix due to its high optical transparency, and CNC was utilized as a filler to lower CTE and enhance the thermal and mechanical properties. As the CNC loading increased, the tensile strength and elastic modulus increased significantly. In addition, the CNC/COC film exhibited a high transparency of 85%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lines with few or no pigment cells have been established in fishes, and these lines are useful for bioimaging. The transparent goldfish (tra) line previously established by N-ethyl-N-nitrosourea (ENU) mutagenesis is also suitable for such experiments. However, in the case of tra, leucophores form in the adult fish, making it difficult to observe the organs inside body from outside the body. In this study, we attempted to create a knockout line of the pax7a and pax7b genes, which are thought to be involved in the formation of leucophores, to further improve the transparency of tra strain. Mutations were introduced by microinjection of the CRISPR/Cas9 mixture into single-cell embryos, mutant individuals were found in F0, and the next generation was generated to confirm the mutation patterns. As a result, multiple mutation patterns, including knockout, were obtained. The same pattern of knockout F1 with pax7a and pax7b mutations was crossed to generate a homozygous knockout in F2. In the resulting pax7b−/− (tra) fish but not in pax7a−/− (tra) fish, the number of leucophores was reduced compared to that in tra, and the transparency of the body was improved. It was suggested that pax7b plays an important role in leucophore formation in goldfish. Metasurface absorbers have shown significant potential in stealth applications due to their adaptability and capacity to reduce the backscattering of electromagnetic (EM) waves. Nevertheless, due to the materials used in the terahertz (THz) range, simultaneously achieving excellent stealth performance in ultrawideband remains an important and difficult challenge to overcome. In this study, an ultrawideband absorber is proposed based on indium tin oxide (ITO) and polyethylene-terephthalate (PET), with a structure thickness of only 0.16λ. ITO sheets are utilized to achieve broad-spectrum, optical transparency and flexibility of the metasurface. The results show that absorption higher than 90% can be achieved in the frequency band ranging from 1.75 to 5 THz under normal TE and TM polarizations, which covers a wide THz band. The structure is insensitive to polarization angles and exhibits 97% relative bandwidth above 90% efficiency up to an oblique incident angle of 60°. To further validate the efficiency of the absorption performance, the radar cross-section (RCS) reduction investigation was performed on both planar and conformal configurations. The findings show that under normal incidence EM waves, both flat and curved surfaces can achieve RCS reduction of over 10 dB, covering an extremely wide frequency range of 1.75 to 5 THz. The flexible electronic sensor is a critical component of wearable devices, generally requiring high stretchability, excellent transmittance, conductivity, self‐healing capability, and strong adhesion. However, designing ion‐conducting elastomers meeting all these requirements simultaneously remains a challenge. In this study, a novel approach is presented to fabricate highly stretchable, transparent, and self‐healing ion‐conducting elastomers, which are synthesized via photo‐polymerization of two polymerizable deep eutectic solvents (PDESs) monomers, i.e., methacrylic acid (MAA)/choline chloride (ChCl) and itaconic acid (IA)/ChCl. The as‐prepared ion‐conducting elastomers possess outstanding properties, including high transparency, conductivity, and the capability to adhere to various substrates. The elastomers also demonstrate ultra‐stretchability (up to 3900%) owing to a combination of covalent cross‐linking and noncovalent cross‐linking. In addition, the elastomers can recover up to 3250% strain and over 94.5% of their original conductivity after self‐healing at room temperature for 5 min, indicating remarkable mechanical and conductive self‐healing abilities. When utilized as strain sensors to monitor real‐time motion of human fingers, wrist, elbow, and knee joints, the elastomers exhibit stable and strong repetitive electrical signals, demonstrating excellent sensing performance for large‐scale movements of the human body. The preparation of self‐healing polyurethane elastomers (PUEs) incorporating dynamic bonds is of considerable practical significance. However, developing a PUE with outstanding mechanical properties and high self‐healing efficiency poses a significant challenge. Herein, this work has successfully developed a series of self‐healing PUEs with various outstanding properties through rational molecular design. These PUEs incorporate m‐xylylene diisocyanate and reversible dimethylglyoxime as hard segment, along with polytetramethylene ether glycol as soft segment. A significant amount of dynamic oxime‐carbamate and hydrogen bonds are formed in hard segment. The microphase separated structure of the PUEs enables them to be colorless with a transparency of >90%. Owing to the chemical composition and multiple dynamic interactions, the PUEs are endowed with ultra‐high tensile strength of 34.5 MPa, satisfactory toughness of 53.9 MJ m−3, and great elastic recovery both at low and high strains. The movement of polymer molecular chains and the dynamic reversible interactions render a self‐healing efficiency of 101% at 70 °C. In addition, this self‐healing polyurethane could still maintain high mechanical properties after recycling. This study provides a design strategy for the preparation of a comprehensive polyurethane with superior overall performance, which holds wide application prospects in the fields of flexible displays and solar cells. With the swift advancement of wearable electronics and artificial intelligence, the integration of electronic devices with the human body has advanced significantly, leading to enhanced real-time health monitoring and remote disease diagnosis. Despite progress in developing stretchable materials with skin-like mechanical properties, there remains a need for materials that also exhibit high optical transparency. Supercapacitors, as promising energy storage devices, offer advantages such as portability, long cycle life, and rapid charge/discharge rates, but achieving high capacity, stretchability, and transparency simultaneously remains challenging. This study combines the stretchable, transparent polymer PEDOT:PSS with MnO2 nanoparticles to develop high-performance, stretchable, and transparent supercapacitors. PEDOT:PSS films were deposited on a PDMS substrate using a spin-coating method, followed by electrochemical deposition of MnO2 nanoparticles. This method ensured that the nanosized MnO2 particles were uniformly distributed, maintaining the transparency and stretchability of PEDOT:PSS. The resulting PEDOT:PSS/MnO2 nanoparticle electrodes were gathered into a symmetric device using a LiCl/PVA gel electrolyte, achieving an areal capacitance of 1.14 mF cm−2 at 71.2% transparency and maintaining 89.92% capacitance after 5000 cycles of 20% strain. This work presents a scalable and economical technique to manufacturing supercapacitors that combine high capacity, transparency, and mechanical stretchability, suggesting potential applications in wearable electronics. Superhydrophobic surfaces have demonstrated exceptional efficacy in combatting biofouling contaminations of optical devices and equipment in marine applications. However, the fabrication of highly transparent superhydrophobic materials remains a formidable challenge due to the inherent trade-off between surface roughness for superhydrophobicity and optical transparency. Herein, we design a robust and transparent superhydrophobic coating (Si-POSS) embedded silica nanoparticles (200 nm) with fluorinated polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (F-POSS) and zinc pyrithione (ZPT). The Si-POSS coating exhibits excellent water repellence toward diverse liquids and optical transmittance exceeding 90% in the visible spectrum. Moreover, the Si-POSS coating sustains long-term anti-bacterial (> 99.11%) and anti-algal effects for over 30 days, accompanied by mechanical, chemical, and thermal stability. This research asserts that the Si-POSS coating with outstanding combined characteristics holds significant potential for marine applications, particularly in self-cleaning and antifouling endeavors. Purpose: This study investigates the intricate interplay among e-payment, blockchain, and trust dynamics and their impact on logistics 4.0 and supply chain capabilities within the context of Thailand. Design/methodology/approach: A sample population of 205 managers and executives from the logistics industry provided data, allowing for a robust analysis grounded in empirical evidence. Utilizing a causal model approach, the study employed structural equation modeling to evaluate the accuracy and fit of the theoretical framework to empirical data. Findings: Results revealed significant relationships, highlighting the pivotal role of trust as a mediator between e-payment, blockchain, and logistics capabilities. Specifically, while e-payment positively influences supply chain capabilities and trust, its direct impact on logistic 4.0 capabilities is insignificant. Conversely, blockchain technology directly fosters trust and indirectly enhances logistics 4.0 and supply chain capabilities. Furthermore, trust emerges as a critical factor influencing the effectiveness of logistics operations and plays a central role in fostering transparency and operational efficiency. Research limitations/implications: This underscores the importance of integrating blockchain technology to encourage trust and collaboration across the supply chain. However, challenges such as the need for supportive policies and accounting guidelines for SMEs must be addressed to fully leverage the benefits of blockchain in Thailand's logistics industry. Originality/value: The findings emphasize the importance of secure payment infrastructures and blockchain technology in building trust and enhancing supply chain capabilities.

Protein-based gels have attracted much attention due to their unique advantages in the field of food and medicine due to their optical transparency. Transparent gels are expected to become high-end protein-based gel foods similar to bird 's nest or their processing excipients （ materials ）. Exploring the difference mechanism of optical properties of egg white thermal gels is expected to become the key to overcome the high-quality utilization of egg white gels. In this paper, the formation mechanism and influencing factors of egg white gel transparency were reviewed. The formation mechanism of egg white thermal gel was analyzed in depth, the modification methods of protein were discussed, and the future research and development direction of egg white transparent thermal gel was prospected.

Fabrication route of the antifogging coating. [Display omitted] Hydrophilic coating can prevent surface from fogging but its application is limited by low mechanical performance. In this study, a hydrophilic coating was prepared by crosslinking the Si-doped carbonized polymer dot (Si-CPD) with 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) and ethylene oxide (EO). The hydrophilic coating can be used as robust hydrophilic anti-fogging coating. The Si-CPD derived from ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) and aminopropyl oligosiloxanes (APOS) was successfully prepared via one-step hydrothermal method. Then, a resin solution was prepared by mixing Si-CPD, GPTMS and EO. Epoxy group of GPTMS and EO can react with amino group of Si-CPD. Finally, a composite coating with antifogging function can be obtained by simple heating curing. Due to the introduction of hydroxyl which derived from EO, the coating shows excellent antifogging performance. Meanwhile, the presence of inorganic component endows the coating with outstanding mechanical performance. As a renewable, environmentally friendly, natural, and organic material, wood has been receiving extensive attention from various industries. However, the hydrophilicity of wood significantly impacts the stability and durability of its products, which can be effectively addressed by constructing superhydrophobic coatings on the surface of wood. In this study, tung oil, carnauba wax, and silica nanoparticles were used to construct superhydrophobic coatings on hydrophilic wood surfaces by a facile two-step dip-coating method. The surface wettability and morphology of the coatings were analyzed by a contact angle meter and scanning electron microscope, respectively. The results suggest that the coating has a micron–nanosized two-tiered structure, and the contact angle of the coating is higher than 150° and the roll-off angle is lower than 10°. Sandpaper abrasion tests and UV diffuse reflectance spectra indicate that the coatings have excellent abrasion resistance and good transparency. In addition, the coated wood shows excellent self-cleaning and water resistance, which have great potential for applications in industry and furniture manufacturing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nanofibrous membranes, characterized by their flexibility, high porosity, and tunable structure, are emerging as a promising contender for advanced transparent materials with sufficient breathability and pliability. However, the considerable surface light reflection and internal light scattering of nanofibrous membranes pose a challenging task in achieving transparency. In this study, transparent nanofibrous membranes are fabricated by constructing a topological structure with optimized optical transmission channels, which provide the minimum equivalent thickness to minimize light loss in nanofibrous membranes. The resultant fabricated membrane exhibits a high light transmittance of up to 81%, along with a sufficient porosity of 84% and flexibility. Additionally, the membrane demonstrated effective PM0.3–10 removal efficiency (>91%), low air pressure drops (<110 Pa), high air permeability (≈104 mm s−1), and good waterproof performance. Therefore, the prepared transparent nanofibrous membrane may serve as a transparent air filtration window screen to enhance indoor comfort for people. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since the 21st century, transparent flexible sensors (TFSs) have been widely employed in abundant fields, such as smart glasses, intelligent watches, robots, electronic skin, especially biomedicine. Presently, various materials have been developed, such as metal‐based, carbon‐based, conductive polymer‐based, and ionic liquid‐based (IL‐based) materials. Compared with the first three materials, IL, as a novel material, with the tendency of green chemistry development, has a high application prospect in TFSs. Based on this, this paper mainly discusses recent advances in TFSs based on ILs, with special emphasis on the role of ILs and the factors influencing transparency as well as electricity. In the evolving landscape of portable electronics, there is a critical demand for components that meld stretchability with optical transparency, especially in supercapacitors. Traditional materials fall short in harmonizing conductivity, stretchability, transparency, and capacity. Although poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) stands out as an exemplary candidate, further performance enhancements are necessary to meet the demands of practical applications. This study presents an innovative and effective method for enhancing electrochemical properties by homogeneously incorporating Ru(III) into PEDOT:PSS. These Ru(III) PEDOT:PSS complexes are readily synthesized by dipping PEDOT:PSS films in RuCl3 solution for no longer than one minute, leveraging the high specific capacitance of Ru(III) while minimizing interference with transmittance. The supercapacitor made with this Ru(III) PEDOT:PSS complex demonstrated an areal capacitance of 1.62 mF cm−2 at a transmittance of 73.5%, which was 155% higher than that of the supercapacitor made with PEDOT:PSS under comparable transparency. Notably, the supercapacitor retained 87.8% of its initial capacitance even under 20% tensile strain across 20,000 cycles. Transparent solar-blind ultraviolet photodetectors (SBUV PDs) have extensive applications in versatile scenarios, such as optical communication. However, it is still challenging to simultaneously achieve high responsivity, high transparency, and satisfying self-powered capability. Here, we demonstrated high-performance, transparent, and self-powered photoelectrochemical-type (PEC) SBUV PDs based on vertically grown ultrathin In2O3 nanosheet arrays (NAs) with a three-dimensional (3D) porous structure. The 3D porous structure simultaneously improves the transmittance in the visible light region, accelerates interfacial reaction kinetics, and promotes photogenerated carrier transport. The performance of In2O3 NAs photoanodes exceeds most reported self-powered PEC SBUV PDs, exhibiting a high transmittance of approximately 80% in the visible light region, a high responsivity of 86.15 mA/W for 254 nm light irradiation, a fast response speed of 15/18 ms, and good multicycle stability. The In2O3 NAs also show excellent spectral selectivity with an ultrahigh solar-blind rejection ratio of 1319.30, attributed to the quantum confinement effect induced by the ultrathin feature (2–3 nm). Furthermore, In2O3 NAs photoanodes show good capability in underwater optical communication. Our work demonstrated that a 3D porous structure is a powerful strategy to synchronously achieve high responsivity and transparency and provides a new perspective for designing high-performance, transparent, and self-powered PEC SBUV PDs. Glass components fabricated by the sintering route have wide-ranging applications. However, one issue is that the crystallization tendency of glass powders often leads to residual pore-glass interfaces and crystal-glass interfaces, thereby causing strong light scattering and rendering the sintered glass opaque. This issue is particularly pronounced in glasses with a low glass transition temperature (Tg) due to their weak bonding and thus high crystallization tendency. In the present study, a Bi2O3-ZnO-B2O3 glass with a low Tg of 364°C was fabricated using the conventional sintering method to explore whether transparent glass materials can be obtained. The temperature range of crystallization of the glass powders was analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry. X-ray diffraction was employed to analyze the crystalline phases formed in the sintered glasses. The microstructure of the sintered glasses was examined using scanning electron microscopy. The optical transmittance of the sintered glasses was measured using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The results show that transparent sintered glasses with the highest transmittance of 54% at the wavelength of 650 nmcan be obtained by using a coarser initial particle size, lower forming pressure, and an appropriate sintering temperature/time (430°C/30 min). The transparent [Li 0.04 (K 0.5 Na 0.5) 0.96 ]NbO 3 +0.5mol% Er 2 O 3 (KNNLN-Er) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics were prepared by stereolithography technique. The influence of different sintering holding time (4h∼8h) on the micromorphology, relative density, shrinkage, electric properties, and photoluminescence properties were systematically investigated. The KNNLN-Er ceramics show the coexistence of orthorhombic and tetragonal structures. The grain size increases obviously and then decreases slightly with the holding time increasing. The KNNLN-Er ceramics exhibit good piezoelectric performance (piezoelectric constant d 33 ∼97 pC/N, electromechanical couple coefficient k t ∼0.36) and the moderate transparency of 34% when the holding time is 6h during sintering at 1120°C. Besides, the intensity of the photoluminescence emission spectra increases with the holding time increasing. Furthermore, in order to estimate the properties of the KNNLN-Er transparent ceramics, an ultrasonic transducer with a center frequency of 10.5 MHz was fabricated, which can be used for photoacoustic and fluorescence imaging. Highlights Temperature-responsive transparent nanofiber membranes were successfully fabricated using a straightforward and widely applicable method. An optically transparent chessboard metasurface is proposed to achieve wideband radar cross section (RCS) reduction in this paper. The metasurface is a single-layer sandwich structure composed of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) square patches with different sizes and surface resistances, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate, and ITO backplane from the top downwards. Based on optimized multielement phase cancellation (OMEPC) to select the sizes and surface resistances of ITO patches, the proposed metasurface can achieve the 10 dB RCS reduction from 10.1 to 26.4 GHz with a relative bandwidth of 89% under normal incidence. The total thickness of the metasurface is 2 mm, which makes it highly flexible. When there is a slight cylindrical curvature on the metasurface and the curvature angle is less than 30°, an approximate 10 dB RCS reduction can still be achieved in the frequency range of 10–25 GHz under normal incidence. When the oblique incidence angle is less than 45°, the proposed metasurface also exhibits nearly 10 dB RCS reduction at the specular direction in the frequency range of 10–25 GHz. Finally, a sample is fabricated and measured, and the experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results.

This paper proposed a single-layer checkerboard metasurface with simultaneous wideband radar cross-section (RCS) reduction characteristics and low infrared (IR) emissivity. The metasurface consists of an indium tin oxide (ITO)-patterned film, a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate and an ITO backplane from the top downwards, with a total ultra-thin thickness of 1.6 mm. This design also allows the metasurface to have good optical transparency and flexibility. Based on phase cancellation and absorption, the metasurface can achieve a wideband RCS reduction of 10 dB from 10.6 to 19.4 GHz under normal incidence. When the metasurface is slightly cylindrically curved, an RCS reduction of approximately 10 dB can still be achieved from 11 to 19 GHz. The polarization and angular stability of the metasurface have also been verified. The filling rate of the top ITO-patterned film is 0.81, which makes the metasurface have a low theoretical IR emissivity of 0.24. Both simulation and experimental results have verified the excellent characteristics of the proposed checkerboard metasurface, demonstrating its great potential application in radar–IR bi-stealth. A flexible, transparent and polarization-insensitive metasurface absorber (MA) with dual-broadband feature is proposed. The MA consists of absorption layer, transparent flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) dielectric layer, and indium tin oxide (ITO)/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottom plate. The dual-broadband characteristics are studied by transmission-line theory, numerical simulation and experiment. The experimental results indicate that over 90% absorptivity under the planar case is achieved in 10.85–26.01 GHz and 44.86–56.67 GHz, corresponding relative bandwidth are 82.23% and 23.26%, respectively. The light transmittance is 63.3%. Both theoretical analysis and simulated results are good accordance with the experiment. The influence of structural parameters on the dual-broadband absorption performance is studied. Moreover, the analysis of the impedance matching theory, surface current, magnetic field and electric field distributions and power loss density are given to explain the dual-band absorption mechanism. The proposed dual-broadband MA maintains good angular stability whether in planar (30°) or conformal (20°) cases. The MA has simple structure, high optical transparency and flexibility, it promises to be a good candidate for electromagnetic (EM) shielding room observation windows, touch panel controls, radio-frequency identification systems and transparent radio-frequency devices. In order to explore the effect of antibacterial agent on the performance of polycarbonate (PC) materials, the self-made antibacterial agent ZH001 was added to the PC by double screw extrusion granulation method, and the PC antibacterial material with high transparency antibacterial effect was obtained. The melt flow rate, the notch impact strength, tensile strength, bending properties, light transmittance, fog degree, and antibacterial properties of PC materials were tested respectively, and the performance of the PC material was compared with that of the PC materials added with commercially available antibacterial agents. The results show that the toughness of PC increases more when the amount of ZH001 is 0.6%, the notched impact strength of simply supported beam increases from 71.000 kJ/m² to 73.259 kJ/m², and the elongation at break of material increased from 75.000% to 78.425%. The antibacterial agent has little effect on the transparency and fog of PC, the light transmittancethe of PC material with 0.6% ZH001 is 90.2%, and the fog is 9.4%. Plastic agricultural films offer a favorable internal environmental climate for plant growth, boosting crop yields, however, to pursue green ecological agriculture, renewable biodegradable materials become attractive candidates to replace non-degradable petrochemical plastic agricultural films. Herein, this work presents a general strategy to fabricate the transparent and biodegradable cellulose-based film with good hydrophobicity and excellent UV resistance using corn husk and lignosulfonate (LS) as primary materials, and methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) as surface modifier for potential agriculture application. The results show that the LS uniformly attaches to the surface of the regenerated cellulose (RC) film, and inherits the excellent tensile strength (20.1 MPa) of the RC film after modification, forming a film that resists a certain tensile force and good thermal stability. Due to the excellent UV absorbing ability, the MTMS-modified RC/LS (M-RC/LS) film demonstrates excellent optical properties of shielding about 95% of UV light and allowing nearly 80% of visible light transmittance, providing the required light capacity for plant growth. In conducting water contact angle tests, the hydrophobic properties of the cellulose-based film are improved by surface modification of MTMS (water contact angle ≈ 100.9°), overcoming the drawback of insufficient stability of cellulose and improving its agricultural application possibilities. In addition, the synergistic effect of LS and MTMS results in a certain reduction of water vapor transmission rate of the cellulose-based film. Based on the above properties, the present study provides a facile strategy to prepare UV-resistant and transparent hydrophobic cellulose-based film, which is valuable to prolong their life and protect the safety of crops, promising to replace transparent plastic films for wider applications in agricultural films and other related fields. Vanadium dioxide (VO2) has attracted widespread attention due to its extraordinary thermochromic properties. Visually transparent VO2 films hold great promise for applying in smart windows, smart radiative coolers, solar cells, and microwave absorbing windows. However, it remains a huge challenge to simultaneously achieve ultra‐high luminous transmittance (Tlum) and excellent thermochromic performance due to their contradictory relationship. Here, a fully discrete VO2 particulate (FDVP) film is developed. It shows an ultra‐high Tlum of 92.7% due to the reflectance being significantly reduced. Below the phase transition temperature (Tc, 69.1 °C), it is highly transparent to near‐infrared (NIR) light, while above Tc, it blocks NIR light through the strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect, resulting in an excellent solar energy modulation (ΔTsol) of 10.5% for smart windows. In addition, a 3.5 at.%W‐doped FDVP film exhibits a desired Tc of 25.8 °C, an extremely narrow hysteresis width (ΔT) of 4.6 °C, and good optical properties (Tlum = 92.0%, ΔTsol = 8.2%). Herein, high‐k dielectric behavior of TeO2 thin films is investigated. The films are prepared using pulsed laser deposition on indium tin oxide (ITO)–glass substrates. Increasing the growth temperature has improved the surface roughness, transparency, and bandgap of the films. Films grown at 500 °C display nanocrystalline nature which is reflected in the increase of bandgap to 4.7 eV and is higher than the bulk value of α‐TeO2 (3.7 eV). The nanocrystalline TeO2 films in the metal–insulator–metal configuration show a stable high permittivity of ≈19 with low leakage current (J < 1 × 10−7 A cm−2) and good voltage stability (α = 509 ppm V−2). Field‐effect modulation is observed in the metal–oxide–semiconductor stack configuration with tellurium as a semiconductor. Air pollution by particulate matter (PM) in the air including PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10, which are categorized by particle size, is a critical global environmental issue, harming the climate, ecosystems, and human health. Especially, ultrafine dust including PM1.0 and PM2.5 poses significant human health risks. Commercial fabric‐based filters effectively trap PMs but cause high‐pressure drop and limited filter capacity and reusability. Electrospun nanofiber filters address some issues but have low mechanical strength, toxic exposure risks, long fabrication times, and restrained reusability. Herein, a reusable and transparent impaction‐based PM filter using a UV‐curable polymeric stencil with micro apertures is proposed. The polymeric stencil filters achieve high filter efficiency (68–94%), superior filter capacity, and low‐pressure drop (<64 Pa). The polymeric stencil filters can be easily cleaned with water or ethanol and remain stable under extreme temperatures (−196 to 450 °C) with slight shrinkage (0–7%). The polymeric stencil filters can be broadly utilized for not only industrial, indoor, and vehicle filters but also transparent and flexible facial health masks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Biphenyl fused alicyclic tetracarboxylic dianhydride, 6,6′,7,7′‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride‐5,5′,6,6′,7,7′,8,8′‐octahydro‐2,2′‐binaphthalene (OHBNDA) was successfully synthesized from biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA) through hydrolysis, reduction, bromination, and Diels–Alder reaction. Three OHBNDA‐based polyimides (PIs) were synthesized by one‐step polycondensation at high temperature with 9,9‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)fluorene (BAFL), 2,2′‐bis(trifluoromethyl)‐4,4′‐diaminobiphenyl (TFMB), and 4,4′‐diamino‐2,2′‐dimethyl‐1,1′‐biphenyl (m‐TolDA) diamines, respectively. These PIs have moderate molecular weights and good solubility in polar organic solvents, such as N,N‐dimethylformamide, dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). OHBNDA‐TFMB, OHBNDA‐m‐TolDA, and OHBNDA‐BAFL display glass transition temperatures (Tgs) of 309, 329, and 377°C from differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) curves, and the decomposition temperatures at 5% weight loss (Td5) of as high as 522, 507, and 548°C under nitrogen, respectively. Meanwhile, these PI films also show good optical transparency with the cut‐off wavelength <315 nm and the transmittance >75% at 400 nm. These results confirm that aryl‐fused alicyclic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides can afford transparent/colorless PIs with high thermal stability, especially the higher decomposition temperatures than the wholly alicyclic dianhydrides. Developing transparent and superamphiphobic materials that can repel low‐surface‐tension liquids is attractive for fundamental research and industrial applications. Despite great progress, it remains a daunting challenge to scalably fabricate highly transparent superamphiphobic materials because of the inherent paradox in surface roughness to achieve superamphiphobicity and optical transparency. Herein, a scalable template‐assisted spray coating method is developed to form hierarchical nano re‐entrant structures that eliminate the visible‐light scattering while maintaining optical transmittance above 88% in the visible region, besides retaining the superamphiphobicity to various low surface‐tension liquids. In addition to exhibiting improved mechanical, chemical, and thermal stabilities, these transparent superamphiphobic materials can also be applied on various substrates, including curved surfaces and solar panels, to enhance their optical stability. Highlights: Temperature-responsive transparent nanofiber membranes were successfully fabricated using a straightforward and widely applicable method. The temperature-responsive nanofiber membranes exhibit a lower reaction temperature (~ 37 °C) and higher transmittance (> 90%). The prepared temperature-responsive transparent nanofiber membranes exhibited a short response temperature time (~ 5 s), and remarkable stability Nanofiber membranes (NFMs) have become attractive candidates for next-generation flexible transparent materials due to their exceptional flexibility and breathability. However, improving the transmittance of NFMs is a great challenge due to the enormous reflection and incredibly poor transmission generated by the nanofiber-air interface. In this research, we report a general strategy for the preparation of flexible temperature-responsive transparent (TRT) membranes, which achieves a rapid transformation of NFMs from opaque to highly transparent under a narrow temperature window. In this process, the phase change material eicosane is coated on the surface of the polyurethane nanofibers by electrospray technology. When the temperature rises to 37 °C, eicosane rapidly completes the phase transition and establishes the light transmission path between the nanofibers, preventing light loss from reflection at the nanofiber-air interface. The resulting TRT membrane exhibits high transmittance (> 90%), and fast response (5 s). This study achieves the first TRT transition of NFMs, offering a general strategy for building highly transparent nanofiber materials, shaping the future of next-generation intelligent temperature monitoring, anti-counterfeiting measures, and other high-performance devices. Antimicrobial coatings can inhibit the transmission of infectious diseases when they provide a quick kill that is achieved long after the coating application. Here, we describe the fabrication and testing of a glass coating containing Ag2O microparticles that was prepared from sodium silicate at room temperature. The half-lives of both methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa on this coating are only 2–4 min. The half-life of Clostridioides difficile spores is about 9–12 min, which is extremely short for a spore. Additional tests on MRSA demonstrate that the coating retains its antimicrobial activity after abrasion and that an increased loading of Ag2O leads to a shorter half-life. This coating combines the properties of optical transparency, robustness, fast kill, and room temperature preparation that are highly desirable for an antimicrobial coating. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The multifaceted applications of superhydrophobic surfaces arising out of their unique surface architecture have gained significant attention in the solar photovoltaic industry as it addresses the challenges in light conversion efficiency at an industrial scale due to the soiling of surfaces. Inspired by the self-cleaning properties of the lotus leaf, this review proposes the use of superhydrophobic surfaces as an effective solution for soiling mitigation in solar cell applications. The review examines various factors influencing dust settlement and evaluates existing soiling mitigation techniques. As most literature reports the insufficiency of theoretical wetting models with the controversies around its assumptions, the importance of modified models over the theoretical models is compared and highlighted. The foundations of superhydrophobic coatings including transmittance, porosity, and refractive index of coatings, thickness and surface roughness in addition to the commonly reported surface tension and surface free energy aid to focus on feasible fabrication techniques and provide improved efficiency of solar cells. Finally, the review presents a classification of durability tests to highlight the importance of durable coatings bridging the gap between the fabrication and application of superhydrophobic coatings for solar cells on an industrial scale. Surface roughness and low surface energy are key elements for the artificial preparation of biomimetic superhydrophobic materials. However, the presence of micro-/nanostructures and the corresponding increase in roughness can increase light scattering, thereby reducing the surface transparency. Therefore, designing and constructing superhydrophobic surfaces that combine superhydrophobicity with high transparency has been a continuous research focus for researchers and engineers. In this study, a transparent superhydrophobic coating was constructed on glass substrates using hydrophobic fumed silica (HF-SiO2) and waterborne polyurethane (WPU) as raw materials, combined with a simple spray-coating technique, resulting in a water contact angle (WCA) of 158.7 ± 1.5° and a sliding angle (SA) of 6.2 ± 1.8°. Characterization tests including SEM, EDS, LSCM, FTIR, and XPS revealed the presence of micron-scale protrusions and a nano-scale porous network composite structure on the surface. The presence of HF-SiO2 not only provided a certain roughness but also effectively reduced surface energy. More importantly, the coating exhibited excellent water-repellent properties, extremely low interfacial adhesion, self-cleaning ability, and high transparency, with the light transmittance of the coated glass substrate reaching 96.1% of that of the bare glass substrate. The series of functional characteristics demonstrated by the transparent superhydrophobic HF-SiO2@WPU coating designed and constructed in this study will play an important role in various applications such as underwater observation windows, building glass facades, automotive glass, and goggles.

Multilayer grid electrodes consisting of Cu0.7Ni0.3/Cu/Cu0.7Ni0.3 utilize the high conductivity of Cu to realize low electrical resistance and the high corrosion resistance of CuNi to improve reliability. The effect of thickness of outer CuNi layer on corrosion resistance and visibility was investigated. Samples prepared with 2 μ m line width on PET having grid mesh side length of 300 μ m, and 60° internal angle with 280 nm thickness showed a transmittance of 90.1% at 550 nm and sheet resistance of 2.4 Ω/□ after grid pattern formation. The low process temperature enabled electrode formation on thin substrate, 23 μ m-thick PET and accomplish highly durable and flexible electrode on PET. The superior bending properties showed no change in sheet resistance after 200 000 cycles of outer/inner fatigue bending tests at 3 mm radius of curvature. Transparent ZnMn2O4 thin films on indium tin oxide (ITO) were prepared through spray pyrolysis and implemented as electrodes in symmetric supercapacitors (SSCs). A specific capacitance value of 752 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and a 70% retention over 3000 galvanostatic charge–discharge (GCD) cycles were reached with a 1.0 M Na2SO4 electrolyte in a three-electrode electrochemical cell. Analysis of the cycled electrodes with 1.0 M Na2SO4 revealed a local loss of electrode material; this loss increases when electrodes are used in SCCs. To avoid this drawback, solid polyvinylpyrrolidone-LiClO4 (PVP-LiClO4) and quasi-solid polyvinylpyrrolidone-ionic liquid (PVP-ionic liquid) electrolytes were tested in SSCs as substitutes for aqueous Na2SO4. An improvement in capacitance retention without a loss of electrode material was observed for the PVP-ionic liquid and PVP-LiClO4 electrolytes. With these non-aqueous electrolytes, the tetragonal structure of the ZnMn2O4 spinel was maintained throughout the cyclic voltammetry (CV) cycles, although changes occurred in the stoichiometry from ZnMn2O4 to Mn-rich Zn1−xMn3−xO4. In the case of the electrolyte 1.0 M Na2SO4, the loss of Zn2+ led to the formation of MnO2 via Zn1-xM3-xO4. The location of the three SCCs in the Ragone plot shows supercapacitor behavior. The electrochemical results prove that the pseudocapacitance is the major contributor to the electrode capacitance, and the SCCs can therefore be considered as pseudocapacitors. Transparent spinel ceramics (MgO·nAl 2 O 3 , n = 0.9–1.2) doped with Cr3+ ions were prepared by hot-pressed sintering in a vacuum. The effect of the composition on the microstructure, densification, and transmittance of ceramics was studied. The single phase of spinel was obtained at n ≥ 0.95, and their relative density changed insignificantly and was about 99%. As the n value increased, the Al3+ ions were preferred to locate the tetrahedral sites in the spinel structure. At n = 1, approximately 65% of Al3+ ions occupied the T-sites, and at n = 1.2, it increased to 77%. The occupation of Cr3+ ions was not affected by the Al3+ occupation, and the ratio of Cr3+ ions in T-sites to O-sites was still about 1:1, regardless of the value of n. The transmittance of the ceramics was relatively high at 1≤n ≤ 1.1, and the transmittance in the region of 1000–6000 nm was about 74–78%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
