This text examines the treatment and experiences of transgender and other gendernonconforming individuals in Spain during the end of the Franco dictatorship and the subsequent democratic transition roughly between 1970 and 1983. The United Nations' binary definition of gender equality used for the Sustainable Development Goal Five, "to end all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere" ("Goal 5 | Targets and Indicators"). However, women and girls are not the only groups who face discrimination for their gender. In these efforts, I shed light on the complexity of gender identity, the strength of the early Spanish trans community, and the negligence of trans issues that cannot be ignored or repeated in modern society. The discrimination faced by transgender and gender nonconforming individuals in this period presents clear examples of how gender equality cannot simply be achieved when gender is viewed through a cisgender lens. Coming into power in 1936, Francisco Franco instated a fascist government in Spain lasting until he died in 1975. Under his rule, trans people were accused of being "social dangers" and were often imprisoned or even killed under the Ley de Vagos y Maleantes (Law of Vagrants and Criminals) and the law that replaced it, the Ley sobre Peligrosidad y Rehabilitación Social (Law on Social Danger and Rehabilitation). As the dictatorship ended, trans individuals began to work towards removing these discriminatory laws and gaining acceptance in their country, motivated by the changing cultural tides of the Movida Madrileña at the beginning of the transition to democracy. Their efforts first paid off with the repeal of the Ley sobre Peligrosidad y Rehabilitación Social in 1978. Spain is now one of the most progressive countries regarding trans rights. The article critiques the adaptation of the Transgender Attitudes and Beliefs Scale (TABS). While commending the modernization of language, the critique highlights methodological issues, including limited sample diversity, overemphasis on terminology changes, and a lack of test-retest reliability. Additionally, the study is criticized for inadequate theoretical engagement and insufficient exploration of practical applications, particularly in healthcare. Recommendations for future research include incorporating more diverse samples and deeper theoretical analysis to enhance the scale’s utility. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The actions and behaviors exhibited by parents play a significant role in shaping the development of gender identity in their children. Several previous studies about gender identity formation in the family context have been published (Bandura & Bussey, 1999; Berenbaum et al., 2006; Boe & Woods, 2018; Friedman et al., 2007; Huston, 1983; Leaper, 2002; Martin & Ruble, 1998; McHale et al., 2003). However, though this study maintains this emphasis, it also broadens it in significant ways using an ecological perspective that focuses on the interaction between individual characteristics and ecological surroundings (Bronfenbrenner & Morris, 1998). Moreover, this topic's application to literary works appears to be uncommon. There have yet to be any comprehensive investigations into the same subject. The objective of the current study is to examine the impact of parental influence and its consequences on the development of gender identity in a fictional child protagonist named Claude as depicted in Laurie Frankel's literary work titled This Is How It Always Is. The present investigation involves the analysis of data obtained from the novel to examine the topics of family socialization influences and its consequences of societal exclusion and marginalization through the lens of a sociocultural perspective in psychology. The analytical frameworks employed in this study are the Cognitive-developmental theory developed by Martin et al. (2002), and the Gender schema theory proposed by Bem (1981). Additionally, the study examines Claude's social failure to fit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pathologization of transsexuality and the rhetoric of the "wrong body" associated with it, within the framework of a dichotomous and hierarchicalsex / gendersystem, have strongly conditioned the way in which people who identify as trans (transsexual, transgender) think about themselves and guide their bodily practices and their sexualities. However, despite the normative restrictions of the surgical model of transsexuality continue to mark the lives of many young transgender people, when we approach their sex-affective narratives, emancipatory ways of inhabiting sexuality, corporality and desire emerge. These are experiences that call into question the inevitability of dysphoria; that challenge the hegemonic patterns of construction of (hetero)sexuality and gender, especially of masculinity; and that deny the presumption of undesirability that is often attributed to trans bodies. The discourses that are analyzed in this article come from interviews with young transgender people in the framework of an ethnographic research carried out in Spain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

My goal in this short paper is to introduce a dilemma regarding the pronouns ' she ' , ' he ' , and their various declensions. This dilemma arises from the practice, common in the English speaking world and especially the USA, of letting people choose their own pronouns. And as will become apparent at the end of this paper, I want to suggest that this dilemma might be unique to the English language. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim. The aim of the study was to present the characteristics of the convenience sample of the transgender people who registered in one of the sexological outpatient clinics, with particular emphasis on the needs of those seeking assistance. The division into persons with binary and non-binary identities was included. Method. A statistical analysis of the data obtained from the medical records of a group of 49 patients, including 35 patients declaring binary identity and 14 patients declaring non-binary identity, was conducted. The data included, among others, the reported gender identity, the process of its emergence and the range of expectations towards the outpatient clinic (hormone therapy, qualification for gender confirmation procedures, support in obtaining legal recognition of gender reassignment, assistance in the coming-out process, treatment of co-occurring psychiatric problems or psychological assistance). Results. The results indicate a great diversity of the examined group in terms of the declared gender identity. In the group of non-binary persons, a different than in binary persons course of the emergence and consolidation of gender identity is noticeable. The expectations reported in terms of hormone therapy, surgical treatment, legal recognition, assistance in the coming-out process and mental health indicate that there are differences and heterogeneous needs in the study group. The results indicate that expectations for hormone therapy, gender confirmation surgeries and legal recognition are more common in binary patients. Conclusions. Despite the frequent perception of transgender people as a homogeneous group with similar experiences and expectations, the results indicate considerable diversity in the given range. The article considers the problem of constitutional and legal regulation of the right to change sex in the context of the implementation of somatic human rights. Based on the analysis of ECHR decisions and positive practice of foreign countries, it is noted that gender denial (mismatch between anatomical gender of an individual and his gender identity (mental gender)), i.e. transsexualism, is a type of mental and behavioral disorders of an individual. According to the most Western experts, the only effective method of treating transsexuality that gives more or less satisfactory results is surgical and hormonal correction of sex in accordance with gender self-identification, taking into the account the change of documents and socialization in a new gender role. It is emphasized that the most controversial issue so far is the issue of succession in case of gender reassignment, i.e related to the transfer of rights and responsibilities from a person before gender reassignment to a person after such a change. Emphasis is placed on the need to consolidate the universal succession in the event of a person’s change of sex, which implies the transfer of all property, a set of rights and obligations belonging to the person to the successor, and it is not only about existing rights and obligations, but also future not identified at the time of succession. It is noted that the succession should take into account the ability to accept such rights and responsibilities, the ability of a person (who has changed sex) to bear them (e.g, military service, the right to an old-age pension, etc.), as these provisions form vacuum in legislation. The new legal status of a person who has changed sex is established in full at the time of the final change of identity documents, and this should be the basis for succession in the event of a change of sex. The correlation of the available definitions gave grounds to assert that the right to change (correction) of sexuality is a somatic right, as it allows for the fundamental reconstruction of a person by changing sex. It is concluded that since Art. 51 of the Constitution of Ukraine clearly states that marriage is based on the free consent of women and men, so it is too early to talk about the mechanism of same-sex marriage in Ukraine, as this institution is not enshrined in law. National law also prohibits adoptive parents who are same-sex or unmarried foreigners.

Abstract : This article investigates, in Stanley Kenani’s “Love on Trial” (2011) and “In the Best Interests of the Child” (2011 ) ”, Monica Arac De Nyeko’s “Jambula Tree” ( 2013) and Beatrice Lamwaka’s “Chief of the Home” (2013), homosexuality, lesbianism and trangenderism as forms of deviations in sexuality and gender to evaluate how africans react to these phenomena to project perspectives of the constructionist feminist literary ideology in Africa. My essay maintains that, the high rate of homophobic sentiments accounts for the many impediments faced by the constructionist feminist idology in Africa and implies that Africa is not a place for LGBTI’s ideologies to prosper for long. If constructionist feminists endowe individuals with freedom to deviate from the roles attached to their sex and gender, the strong attachement of most africans to the “compulsory heterosexuality” and traditional gender seriously put into question the LGBTI’s ideology in Africa. Without pretending to proclaim the failure of the constructionist feminism in Africa, my essay rather lays emphasis on cultural empediments to the emerging gender democracy that contradicts the previously established traditional gender roles to imply that the constructionist feminist ideology is simply unwelcome in Africa. Through the lenses of the constructionist feminism and the reader-oriented theory, the study discovers that gender and sexuality are nowadays not static. Next, there is an emerging gender democracy that departs from the imposed gender dictatorship. Most definitely, it results from the study that the future of the constructionist feminist’s ideology is compromised by african cultural dictates that bring about homophobic sentiments. Textual analysis is the methodology used to achieve the expected results of this article.

In 1992, the Salvadoran postwar period began. Along this period, the social movement started various demands, and in the literature, we have seen an emergence of subjectivities that contradicted heterosexuality. The present text proposes to analyze the trans identities represented in narratives of the Salvadoran postwar period between 1992 and 2021. Trans identities encompass a series of narrative representations that share an expression and gender identity dissidents from the binary norm of hegemonic heterosexuality. In conclusion, it is highlighted that death as the destiny of trans people reflects the transphobia processes that exist and persist in Salvadoran society; postwar Salvadoran narratives reproduce this transphobic and murderous social imaginary. The trans identities represented correspond only to trans women; transmen are invisible in these narratives. The challenge and the next frontier to overcome in the narrative field is for trans people to be the architects of their histories, placing their subjectivities, desires, identities, problems, aspirations, etc.

This article examines the literary representation of dissident sexual and gender subjectivities in revolutionary Cuba in Marcial Gala’s novel Llámenme Casandra (2019). Grounded in queer, gender, and cultural studies, it analyzes how gender fluidity challenges the state apparatus of social control that punishes any infringement of the “new man” model. It also reflects on the stigmatization of gender transgressions and its impact on the articulation of transgender subjectivities devoid of agency.

Introduction: The paper deals with gender dysphoria (gender identity) and helps the reader understand that people are not born in wrong bodies thus linking the understanding with unnatural behaviour. Methods: The second part compares transgenderism with a psychiatric condition: clinical lycanthropy. We see a case of someone believing he was a bird and how he was cured. Results: The author highlights similarities between the two conditions. In both scenarios there could be delusions and the individuals are unhappy with their bodies. The unshakeable belief in drastically changing one's body is not normal and should receive psychological or psychiatric treatment. Conclusion: A number of bioethical statements are presented. The author reminds healthcare workers to adhere to the medical principle of 'first do no harm' when considering gender affirmative treatment and advises that political decisions should not be based on just palliative approaches. It is concluded that gender remains binary. The transgender or third gender is a socio-political construct. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HEALTH of transgender people , *DISCRIMINATION in medical care , *GENDER identity , *OUTPATIENT medical care , *MENTAL depression - Abstract
Transgender people use the health care system for ordinary or routine care, and also for their possible transition path. However, despite their exposure to numerous risk factors (precariousness, STIs, HIV, aggressions, depressions...), they face numerous discriminations within the health care system, which will be described in the first article. The particularities of medical follow-up and the specific psychosocial risks of this population are unknown by health care providers and the lack of training on trans health during medical studies contributes to the persistence of stereotypes and discriminations. These elements will be described in this second part. Finally, a summary will highlight the main lines of follow-up in primary ambulatory care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The issue of transgenderism has been part of prominent public and academic discussions in recent years, and ought to be addressed by communication scholars. One area of communication research that is missing from the current body of literature is the use of preferred pronoun usage among religious groups, particularly Christians. This study offers insight into this issue through a qualitative survey of the perspectives of Generation Z college students attending a Christian university. This survey was then analyzed via thematic coding through the lens of Communication Accommodation Theory. Results indicate these students have varying approaches to communicating with and about those who identify as transgender, with some gravitating toward the use of accommodating language and some gravitating toward nonaccommodation.

21. Gender Identity and the SBGG: Contextualising Trans Issues in Mainstream Tagesschau News
- Author
-
Heidenreich, Johanna Maria Katharina and Heidenreich, Johanna Maria Katharina
- Abstract
End of this year legislation will be introduced in Germany which will simplify legally changing one’s gender through the SBGG, removing stricter requirements still applied under current TSG law. To situate this occurrence, the portrayal of transgender individuals and their issues in one German mainstream media outlet, the Tagesschau, was analysed to formulate a generic framework, using framing theory. Thereby, the media depiction of this trans demographic was channelled through the lens of oppression with subthemes such as a) language (inclusive gender-neutral speech vs. sex-based terminology) b) the melding of distinct LGBT demographics c) democratic values in a national (German) and international context and the d) conflict surrounding the SBGG out of concern for women, facilitating this overall understanding. Yet, this was a one-sided portrayal of trans issues, based on a postmodern constructivist understanding of gender, likely to have influenced the SBGG proposal, though this thesis cannot draw causal links to the introduction of this legislation and the Tagesschau. Furthermore, the exclusive understanding of trans individuals as vulnerable, can have unintended consequences when applied to an entire population, particularly when emphasising gender identity over sex, which will be demonstrated through practical examples such as the prison system in Britain and Wales, to highlight the importance of retaining strict sex categories for women’s safety. This thesis suggests increased debate surrounding the real-world implications of gender identity in areas where sex matters, instead of shying away from such urgent topics., In recent years, topics surrounding transgender individuals have received greater attention by countries and media outlets. This year, a new legislation called the SBGG will be introduced in Germany, which will make it very easy to change one’s legal gender and receive new ID documents. To understand the context behind this decision better, this thesis focuses on the general way transgender individuals are described within news stories. To do this, 41 online news articles were examined by the Tagesschau, a well-known mainstream media outlet in Germany. The result of this analysis showed that transgender individuals are typically seen as discriminated against in different ways such as a) through language b) by comparing the fight for gay rights with the current fight for trans rights c) stressing democratic values in a national and international context and d) discussing the conflict surrounding the SBGG out of concern for women and trans women. What has not been talked about, is the psychological perspective, which formulates trans individuals as having a mental disorder, and does not change whether the person in question is biologically male/female. Instead, an empathetic portrayal of transgenderism is seen across news stories, which encourages the idea that if someone says they are a specific gender, then they should be treated as if they really are this gender biologically speaking. Unfortunately, the unintended effect of this perspective is that in areas where biological sex is important, such as in the prison system, women have been raped by men pretending to be trans, which can be seen in England and Wales. It is important that more people are aware of this and discuss such issues.

The author proposes a synthesis of a topical topic by presenting two perspectives: the theoretical approach infiltrating various sectors of knowledge and the practical approach concerning child psychiatry. To this end, the author indicates the importance of the lexicon used with reworkings that affect all countries with the aim of avoiding discrimination against trans people. The theoretical approach and the practical approach lead us to examine successively the relationship to the world and to history by distinguishing the North American and French orientations and by identifying the specificities that concern the child. The theorizations confront each other: for some, sex must be thought as naturally given, while for others it is socially constructed. The issue of trans experience and stigma persist even though the legislative aspects increasingly respond to the demands of trans people. This has repercussions on the issues of filiation which are not confused with begetting; it is a social bond, a legal bond; in our societies the affiliate link has become a political and legal issue with regard to gender equality and legislation concerning the living conditions of children living in different types of families. The author raises a question as a child psychiatrist and points out the increase in requests for transition of minor children in France and the presence of surgical services, endocrinology which have opened specialized sectors or centers. Pediatricians and child psychiatrists are reserved. The extension of rights at the legislative level concerns many countries and is moving towards a declarative identity, which should be possible to discuss. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Patients with gender dysphoria (transgender people), receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy and/or surgical treatment, often face specific skin conditions. Dermatological lesions can result in higher rates of body image dissatisfaction, gender dysphoria, anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among transgender patients. The article provides a review of commonly observed skin conditions induced by gender-affirming therapy (acne vulgaris, hypertrophic and keloid scars, pseudofolliculitis barbae, melasma), their clinical manifestation, and current treatment strategies.

This article presents an analysis of a fragment of a larger study on transgender individuals. In this study, the authors focused exclusively on the experience of gender incongruence; the conflict between gender identity and the gender conferred at birth. In order to clearly explain the scope of this study, the first part of the article presents transgender theories, and those related to identity and gender identity. The second part of the article presents strategies for combatting gender incongruence. These are developed on the basis of the collected empirical material, and through consideration of evidence concerning whether gender incongruence had a significant impact on the formation of the personal and social identity of transgender individuals. The research was based on a qualitative approach, with the main technique employed being a free-form interview. The research was performed throughout the whole of Poland.

- Abstract
Objectives: The evolution of knowledge and recommendations concerning transgender health has led to various representations, especially for health professionals, that can influence the medical management of transgender individuals. The main objective of this study was to explore the representation of psychiatrists in France regarding gender variance. The secondary objective was to compare these data based on their characteristics., Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study based on the distribution in April 2022 of a questionnaire to psychiatrists and psychiatric residents in France. The questionnaire was developed after exploring the results of qualitative studies in the scientific literature., Results: Among 359 respondents, 181 were psychiatric residents and 178 were senior psychiatrists. Ninety percent had already met a transgender person in their professional practice. The representations observed among the respondents were heterogeneous. Most respondents did not consider "transgenderism" a symptom of a psychiatric disorder, and nearly all respondents used the gender and name their patients ask for. About 60% reported insufficient knowledge about "transgenderism", with 86% considering that they had not been trained to adequately support transgender people., Conclusions: The study reveals that representations, although weakened by a lack of knowledge recognized by psychiatrists, favor a non-pathologizing apprehension of gender variance and recognition of the importance of respecting gender diversity and self-determination. The heterogeneity of representations, as well as the high prevalence of professionals who describe a lack of knowledge, skills, and training, support the need for guidelines and the integration of evidence-based knowledge about gender variance into the psychiatric curriculum., (Copyright © 2024 L'Encéphale, Paris. Transsexualism and transgenderism are not current phenomena, they have existed for a long time in multiple cultures. The changes that the term transsexualism has undergone and the interest of the scientific community that is evidenced in the production of articles in recent decades, are a reflection of the importance of the trans issue that has emerged as a matter of growing interest and that is being studied from different perspectives. The objective of this study is to determine if the difficulties faced by trans people when making the request for sex reassignment in the Colombian health system constitutes a violation of their fundamental rights, it has been proposed to carry out through the analysis of the law and Colombian jurisprudence in this regard and a case study that allows observing the struggle of people with a diversity of gender so that their rights are recognized. Gender dysphoria, non-binarity, trans-identity, neutrality, gender fluid. faced with the emergence of a redefinition and reaffirmation of gender, what place and training are there for the doctors of tomorrow? A public health issue is coming to the fore as the suicide rate among these adolescents is seven times higher than among so-called "cisgender" adolescents. So how do you take care of these patients and their families, for whom access to care is so difficult? Several doctors have found themselves confronted with this real tidal wave of requests for gender consultations without any training or clear recommendations. This survey, carried out among resident doctors in the Île-de-France region, aims to assess the current practical and theoretical training concerning the care of children and adolescents with a trans-identity status. This survey was carried out during the month of June 2020, using an anonymous online questionnaire consisting of 16 questions including multiple choices as well as open-ended ones. The questions concerned a self-assessment of practical and theoretical knowledge according to the year and specialty of the residency. It also addressed the issue of training programs implemented by medical faculties and university hospitals as well as the confrontation to trans-identity in clinical practice and the reflections emerging from it. The findings, collected from the answers of 143 resident doctors, show an overall lack of knowledge, theoretical and practical, without medical specialization distinction. It includes pediatric and child psychiatric specialties that are all the more directly concerned. This gap is mostly attributed to the lack of training and teaching in medical universities and hospitals, as well as to a subject still considered taboo within the medical profession itself. The overwhelming majority of doctors are thus in demand for more comprehensive education on the issue as part of their general medical training curriculum. It appears more than important to consider trans-identity status a real public health issue. This matter is taking on an increasingly crucial role in child and adolescent medical counselling. In the coming years, this will enable better patient support and better access to care within a population weakened by years of discrimination and inequality in relation to the fundamental right to health. Objective: To study the feasibility of in vitro maturation of ovarian tissue oocytes for fertility preservation in transgender men on testosterone treatment.Design: Cross-sectional study SETTING: University hospital PATIENT(S): Eighty-three transgender men enrolled from November 2015 to January 2019 INTERVENTION(S): In vitro maturation of cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) harvested at the time of gender confirmation surgery, and fertilization through intracytoplasmic sperm injection.Main Outcome Measure(s): In vitro maturation, fertilization, and blastulation rates; comparison of morphokinetics with vitrified-warmed oocytes; and analysis of the genetic profiles of embryos.Secondary Outcomes: association between serum hormone levels; COCs' morphologic characteristics, and vitrification rate.Result(s): All participants were on testosterone treatment for a median of 83 (64[Quartile 1]; 113.2[Quartile 2]) weeks. A total of 1,903 COCs (mean per participant, 23 ± 15.8) were collected. The in vitro maturation rate was 23.8%, vitrification rate was 21.5%, and survival rate after warming was 72.6% (n = 151). Intracytoplasmic sperm injection was performed in 139 oocytes. The rate of normal fertilized oocytes was 34.5%, and 25 (52.1%) embryos reached day 3. One blastocyst was achieved on day 5. Aberrant cleavage patterns and early embryo arrest were observed in 22 (45.8%) and 44 (91.7%) zygotes, respectively. Compared with vitrified-warmed donor oocytes, a delay was observed in pronuclei disappearance, t2 (time to reach 2 cell stage) timings, and CC1 (the duration of the 1st cell cycle) and SS3 (synchronization of cleavage pattern (calculated as t8-t5) time intervals. A normal genetic pattern was seen in 42% embryos. The proportion of vitrified oocytes was negatively associated with progesterone (odds ratio, 0.76) and positively associated with antimüllerian hormone serum levels (odds ratio, 1.23). The highest vitrification rate was achieved by the morphologic characteristic 344 at day 0 and by 433 at day 2.Conclusion(s): Ovarian tissue oocytes matured in vitro show low developmental capacity in transgender men, when collected under testosterone treatment. - Abstract
Written for general audiences, this unprecedented book comprehensively answers many questions about being transgender with current experiential and scientific information, including the evidence for a biological transgender predisposition. With transgender people visibly achieving fame in entertainment, the literary world, and other arenas, increasing numbers of transgender people are choosing to publicly announce that they are transgender. All of this has brought transgender people and the associated issues of being transgender into mainstream discourse. The demand for fact-based, scientific information on being transgender has never been higher. Written by a transgender person who is also a physiological psychologist, this book is the first for general readers that explains what is known about transgender causation, what life as a transgendered individual is like, and the science involved in living a transgender life. This book serves to improve understanding of being transgender among general audiences—including transgender readers—by describing the science and experience of being transgender. It supplies an enlightening understanding of what if feels like to be transgender, when it starts, the many paths for living a transgender life, and methods to face challenges such as bullying and rejection. It provides a worldview that transgender people are neither broken nor diseased, but rather that they exhibit transgender behavior because of a biological predisposition for which there is solid scientific evidence.

Objective: Gender dysphoria is a condition where an individual is discontent with their assigned gender. Karyotyping is a part of the transition period before hormone therapy to detect the biological gender for most professionals in many countries. Thus, we discussed the requirements for chromosomal analysis of individuals with gender dysphoria considering clinical and genetic findings. Materials and Methods: Karyotype analyses were used to evaluate 67 unrelated individuals. Results: Five individuals transitioned from male to female, and the rest transitioned from female to male. No chromosomal abnormalities and/or chromosomal rearrangements were observed, except for an individual who had mosaic Turner syndrome. Conclusion: This study evaluates the results of chromosomal analysis of individuals with gender dysphoria. From the findings of this study and the literature, we suggest that chromosomal analysis is unnecessary unless evidence for another disorder of sex development is found alongside clinical, laboratory, and radiological findings. Is the body a grid or a window? For Gilles Deleuze, as for most post-structuralists, the body does not express the person but rather functions as a surface upon which desire writes. Deleuze's aesthetics of the surface echoes the inchoate convictions of transgenderism. In contrast, for classical Christian aesthetics, the beauty of the surface is an expression of depth. Hans Urs von Balthasar's theological aesthetics is analyzed along John Paul II's theology of the body, in which the body expresses the person. I close with a trinitarian analogy of the body. This paper examines the historical, cultural, and biographical context of the work of the late UCLA psychoanalytic psychiatrist Robert J. Stoller, as narrated through the voice of anthropologist Gilbert Herdt, who worked with Stoller over a number of years as a postdoctoral fellow and then a junior colleague. The epistemological and professional goals of Stoller in opening up the field of psychoanalysis to the study of sexual excitement, human sexual variation, a radical revision of homosexuality dynamically, and especially the acceptance of divergent LGBT orientations is examined in the professional development and work of Stoller in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA in the 1950s–1980s. The final section of the article examines the fieldwork collaboration of Stoller and Herdt in the context of Herdt's Papua New Guinea field site among the Sambia people, with whom he has been working since 1974. Stoller was instrumental not only in supporting LGBT analytic candidates, but in encouraging a more tolerant face-to-face inclusive attitude in research, education, mentoring, and the general Weltanschauung of psychiatry.

This article is a reasoned response to the article by Timothy F. Murphy, recently published in the prestigious journal Bioethics, on the supposed opposition between the views of the Catholic Church and what he calls "contemporary science" in relation to certain anthropological issues linked to the gender perspective. To point to "the Vatican" as anchored in an unscientific and anachronistic position, using the term contemporary science to which he attributes a unanimous representation of current scientific thinking on the subject is, in our view, unfounded and completely unacceptable. In his reflection, he does not adequately distinguish between intersex and transgenderism, two clearly different realities with different needs. The author defends the obsolescence of the binary sex/gender model that, in his view, "betrays human sexuality." Furthermore, he does so without providing a plausible justification or a definition of human nature that is able to support the plurality and indeterminacy of sexual conditions, without falling back on untenable dualisms or relativism devoid of scientific objectivity. In our response, we highlight how the dialogue between Faith and Reason, as developed in the recent Magisterium of the Catholic Church, is essential to explain nature, the human being and, in general, all creations. Finally, contemporary science does not provide a monolithic and unquestionable view of the nature of human beings and their sexual identity, as the author claims, with many scientists confirming evidence of a binary human sexuality genetically and phenotypically determined. Summary: This paper is a reasoned response to the supposed opposition between the views of the Catholic Church and "contemporary science" in relation to certain anthropological issues linked to the gender perspective. The dialogue between Faith and Reason, as developed in the recent Magisterium of the Catholic Church, is essential to explain nature, the human being and, in general, all creation, against the opinion of those who defend the obsolescence of the binary sex/gender model that, in their view, "betrays human sexuality". Since the last quarter of the last century there have been significant changes in capitalist formations due to the hegemony of neoliberalism and, at the same time, to the patriarchal backlash. From this analytical framework and taking into account the dialectic of change-continuity, this essay presents keys to understanding how the new rationality is having a negative impact on the development of the mixed school in Spain., Los profundos cambios operados en las formaciones económicas capitalistas a partir del último cuarto del siglo XX, como consecuencia de la hegemonía del neoliberalismo, han sido y son inseparables de una nueva reacción patriarcal.

Today's success is on the path of great social transformations, the speed of change and the disciplinary versatility of specific scientific directions, it is mindful that today's success is the success of postmodernity. Postmodernity has brought to greater scientific concepts, new look, new technologies, which are often critical in terms of old scientific achievements. The sphere of gender equality is also affected by such a process. Gender equality is increasingly coming under the concept of biological determinism, the concept of steel gender roles. Society and science are changing the perception of gender issues under the lever of recent changes in society, social life of the individual, as well as guided by modern achievements of social sciences and humanities, develop new gender theories that must meet such goals as gender equality, combating gender discrimination resolving conflicts between gender groups externally and internally. Postmodern society is characterized by a belief in a diverse identity, refutation of stable norms, a critical attitude to traditional values, moral, cultural, religious principles. In addition, postmodern society pays great attention to the issue of sexuality, sexual self-identification. These traits are inherent in gender research, gender is transformed from a biologically determined social role, to the personal self-identification of the individual, regardless of his physical characteristics. This view is completely different from the classical gender studies of the twentieth century. Changes in the concepts and goals of gender research lead to a new paradigm of theoretical and methodological foundations of gender research. Definitions of such changes show the difference between modern and classical research, and show a significant path of scientific thought on gender issues. Modern gender studies consider not only "female" but also "male". The connection between gender groups, heterogeneous conflicts in groups is studied, the issue of the "third gender" is studied and formed. Such research is driven by the will to achieve equal opportunities, both legal and moral, for any gender group. The domestic sphere of gender research still lags far behind global trends, but every year the gap, due to globalization and the growing relevance of gender research, will narrow. Such a project is, for example, the UN Millennium Plan, or a recent state call for gender representation in public authorities. Gender research has long been relevant, and practical decisions have led to improved gender policy in Ukraine. But sometimes such decisions are formal or in fact untrue. Public opinion also makes a significant contribution to the big difference between the “official” and the “real”. Because of this, it will be important to try to identify modern gender stereotypes that correspond to the modern postmodern worldview, in addition, recent events call attention to new specifics of social life, the COVID 2019 epidemic, the war against Russian aggression that objectively changed the standard of living , and introduced a new worldview, set new goals and objectives for research, in particular gender research.,

Th is paper demonstrates that in Poland, a democratic state emphasizing the rule of law and equality under the law, we are dealing with the phenomenon of social (through legal) exclusion of transgender citizens. Th e paper presents the draft Act on Gender Recognition vetoed by the President of the Republic of Poland and the controversy associated with this fact. In addition, the consequences of the current legal status of transgender people in Poland, such as chronic and humiliating court proceedings and limited access to the health care system, have been identified. Th e paper attempts to demonstrate the indispensability of legislation in the fi eld of gender recognition for the dignified, equitable social functioning of people with mental and biological gender incompatibility. In Gender Trouble, Judith Butler asked, "[i]s the breakdown of gender binaries... so monstrous, so frightening, that it must be held to be definitionally impossible and heuristically precluded from any effort to think gender?" (Butler, 1990: viii) As a starting point this question is used to look at the way that gender is understood and unsettled in contemporary British fiction, specifically in Angela Carter's The Passion of New Eve (1977) and Jeanette Winterson's Written on the Body (1994). In this respect, Carter's The Passion of New Eve demonstrates how the subjects are already transgendered and continuously reshaping the material world through the reconceptualization of the transgendered subjects. On the other hand, Winterson's Written on the Body urges the reader to consider how possible to discuss sex and sexuality of the narrator when his/her gender is never exposed and how the reader constitutes an identity for the narrator and an entrance into the text in the absence of sex. Then, this study will show that how gender ambiguity created by the presence of a gender-undeclared, nameless narrator of Written on the Body, together with the trans narrator of The Passion of New Eve, enable the reader to interrogate gender dynamics and to reconsider the categories of sex and sexuality with alteration in mind. 49. Transsexualism and transgenderism: Unravelling sex and gender, and abstractions of the sexed body.

- Abstract
Although transgenderism is accorded an increasingly important place at the heart of studies concerning problems of gender nonconformity, it remains a phenomenon that is poorly known, and difficult to define, in particular in its relationship with transsexualism. In fact, in spite of an undeniable kinship between them, these two phenomena can be distinguished one from the other, and each represents a way of relating to the subject of the difference between the sexes. To clarify this subject, this article initially presents their emergence, their commonalities and their differences from a historical point of view. Next, both ways of relating to the difference between the sexes are analysed through two clinical case studies, one of transsexualism and one of transgenderism (from extracts of non-directive clinical interviews, as well as data from the Rorschach test and the Thematic Apperception Test [TAT], analysed by the French psychoanalytic method). At the end of this investigation, it is concluded that the distinction between these two phenomena refers to two abstractions of the difference between the sexes, leading to a transformation that can be pictured as a fulfilment driven by this perception. TRANSSEXUALS , *TRANSSEXUALISM , *DECONSTRUCTION , *BELIEF & doubt , *NATURE - Abstract
We propose to revisit the traditional portrait of transsexual people established in the 1950s: the conviction of being "in the wrong body", victim of a "mistake of nature", vital demand of reassignment at any price to get reborn in one's "real body". We will try to show that this discourse did not reflect, at that time, the reality of the suffering and experience of the majority of the patients and to follow its development from the moment speech became more free, especially with the birth of the transgender movement. We further analyze in what way - beyond the deconstruction of the male-female binarity - the deconstruction of all binarity, all the lines of separation between species takes place: man/woman, but also man/animal, and beyond that, man/machine, living/non-living, which leads us directly to a posthuman world.
