Background: During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) is primarily determined by pulmonary blood flow, thereby reflecting the blood flow generated by CPR. We aimed to develop an EtCO2 trajectory-based prediction model for prognostication at specific time points during CPR in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).Methods: We screened patients receiving CPR between 2015–2021 from a prospectively collected database of a tertiary-care medical center. The primary outcome was survival to hospital discharge. We used group-based trajectory modeling to identify the EtCO2 trajectories. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used for model development and internally validated using bootstrapping. We assessed performance of the model using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC).Results: The primary analysis included 542 patients with a median age of 68.0 years. Three distinct EtCO2 trajectories were identified in patients resuscitated for 20 minutes (min): low (average EtCO2 10.0 millimeters of mercury [mm Hg]; intermediate (average EtCO2 26.5 mm Hg); and high (average EtCO2: 51.5 mm Hg). Twenty-min EtCO2 trajectory was fitted as an ordinal variable (low, intermediate, and high) and positively associated with survival (odds ratio 2.25, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07–4.74). When the 20-min EtCO2 trajectory was combined with other variables, including arrest location and arrest rhythms, the AUC of the 20-min prediction model for survival was 0.89 (95% CI 0.86–0.92). All predictors in the 20-min model remained statistically significant after bootstrapping.Conclusion: Time-specific EtCO2 trajectory was a significant predictor of OHCA outcomes, which could be combined with other baseline variables for intra-arrest prognostication. For this purpose, the 20-min survival model achieved excellent discriminative performance in predicting survival to hospital discharge.

Joint absence in people with upper-limb-difference leads to compensatory motions. Such compensation has long been a topic of study, but typically only for a single object/user layout, which is unlikely to spatially generalize. We seek to understand how motion varies over a planar workspace for different target orientations and wrist mobility conditions. We therefore present a study that records arm and torso pose during grasping of 49 equally spaced cylindrical targets. Furthermore, we seek to validate the research practice of using wrist-immobilizing bypass sockets on able-bodied participants to simulate prostheses without wrists. Participants were 2 transradial amputees and 7 able-bodied individuals who conducted the study with and without wrist braces, generating 2450 trajectories. Heat-maps illustrate variation over the workspace in Mean Joint Angle, Range of Joint Motion and Distance Travelled by Body Segment. Results indicate that greater wrist restriction primarily exacerbated shoulder internal rotation and elbow flexion, not the trunk. We observed that bypass sockets do not fully simulate amputee behavior. Furthermore, amputee reaching with their intact limb is different to the reaching motion of normative participants, implying that transradial limb-difference affects both sides of the body. Differences in participant behavior were also observed between horizontal and vertical target orientations.

A key challenge of implementing advance care planning lies in the fact that decisions made in advance require patients and their family members to imagine what their clinical picture will look like rather than knowing or experiencing the clinical circumstances as they unfold. Even more important is the acknowledgment of the unpredictability of a given clinical course. This type of situation requires adaptiveness and flexibility in decision-making that frequently occurs in the moment(s) triggered by changes in health state(s). We describe an alternative frameshifting approach called Adaptive Care Planning (AdaptCP), which features an evolving communication between physicians and patients/families with ongoing incorporation of the patients/familys perspective. This process continues iteratively until each decision can be reached in a way that is both harmonious with the patients/familys perspective and is consistent with medical treatment options that are actionable for the healthcare team. We include a table of tools drawn from the literature that can help clinicians when implementing AdaptCP.

This study aims to describe maternal depressive symptoms (MDS) trajectories in a longitudinal study extending from pregnancy to 27 years after the birth of the firstborn child. We also explored the associations of both MDS trajectories and child internalizing and externalizing problem trajectories with maternal adjustment (adaptive functioning, emotional and behavioral problems). The population-based study was conducted in Tampere, Finland, and the sample comprised 356 first-time mothers. MDS were screened with the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale during pregnancy, first week after delivery, 2 and 6 months postnatally, and when the child was 4–5, 8–9, 16–17, and 26–27 years of age. The internalizing and externalizing problems of the children were assessed with the Child Behavior Checklist when the child was 4–5, 8–9, and 16–17 years of age. Maternal adaptive functioning and internalizing and externalizing problems were assessed with the Adult Self Report at 26–27 years after the birth of the first child. Complete follow-up data were available for 168 mothers. We describe a three-group trajectory model of MDS (High Stable, Low Stable, Very Low). Elevated depressive symptom patterns were associated with less optimal maternal outcomes regarding both adaptive and problem dimensions. The child's internalizing and externalizing problem trajectories were associated with maternal internalizing and externalizing problems but not with maternal adaptive functioning. Maternal and child measures were based on maternal reports only. Background and purpose Methods Results Conclusions Amyloid β (Aβ), a major biomarker of Alzheimer's disease, leads to tau accumulation, neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. Modelling the trajectory of Aβ accumulation in cognitively unimpaired (CU) individuals is crucial, as treatments targeting Aβ are anticipated. The evolution of Aβ levels was investigated to determine whether it could lead to classification into different groups by studying longitudinal Aβ changes in older CU individuals, and differences between the groups were compared.A total of 297 CU participants were included from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative database, and these participants underwent apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotyping, neuropsychological testing, brain magnetic resonance imaging, and an average of 3.03 follow‐up 18F‐florbetapir positron emission tomography scans. Distinct Aβ trajectory patterns were classified using latent class growth analysis, and longitudinal cognitive performances across these patterns were assessed with a linear mixed effects model.The optimal model consisted of three classes, with a high entropy value of 0.947. The classes were designated as follows: class 1, non‐accumulation group (n  = 197); class 2, late accumulation group (n  = 70); and class 3, early accumulation group (n  = 30). The late accumulation and early accumulation groups had more APOE ε4 carriers than the non‐accumulation group. The longitudinal analysis of cognitive performance revealed that the early accumulation group showed the steepest decline (modified Preclinical Alzheimer's Cognitive Composite with digit symbol substitution [mPACCdigit], p < 0.001; modified Preclinical Alzheimer's Cognitive Composite with trails B [mPACCtrailsB], p < 0.001) and the late accumulation group showed a steeper decline (mPACCdigit, p = 0.014; mPACCtrailsB, p = 0.007) compared to the non‐accumulation group.Our study showed the heterogeneity of Aβ accumulation trajectories in CU older individuals. Background: Although high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) exerts a significant influence on the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), the association of dynamic changes in HDL-C levels with the risk of MAFLD remains unclear. Thus, the aim of the current study was to explore the association between the changing trajectories of HDL-C and new-onset MAFLD. The findings of this study may provide a theoretical basis for future personalized intervention and prevention targeting MAFLD. Methods: A total of 1507 participants who met the inclusion criteria were recruited from a community-based physical examination population in Nanjing, China from 2017 to 2021. Group-based trajectory models were constructed to determine the heterogeneous HDL-C trajectories. The incidence of MAFLD in each group in 2022 was followed up, and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was applied to investigate the associations between different HDL-C trajectories and the risk of new-onset MAFLD. Results: The incidences of MAFLD in the low-stable, moderate-stable, moderate-high-stable, and high-stable groups of HDL-C trajectory were 26.5%, 13.8%, 7.2% and 2.6%, respectively. The incidence rate of MAFLD in the order of the above trajectory groups exhibited a decreasing trend (χ2 = 72.55, Ptrend<0.001). After adjusting for confounders, the risk of MAFLD onset in HDL-C low-stable group was still 5.421 times (95%CI: 1.303–22.554, P = 0.020) higher than that in the high-stable group. Subgroup analyses of the combined (moderate high-stable and high-stable groups combined), moderate-stable and low-stable groups showed that sex, age, and overweight/obesity did not affect the association between HDL-C trajectory and MAFLD risk. Conclusions: Persistently low HDL-C level is a risk factor for the onset of MAFLD. This study examined the relations between trajectories of temperamental shyness and attention shifting in Chinese children, the heterogeneity in these trajectories, and how psychosocial adjustment at entry to elementary school varied depending on different trajectories. The participants of 2009 and 2010 cohorts (N = 268, 51% male; Mage = 3.68 years at T1) were recruited from Yinchuan, China. On average, temperamental shyness declined and attention shifting increased over a 4‐year span from preschool to the first grade, with a negative relation between the two linear slopes, and substantial heterogeneity found in both trajectories. Children characterized by High‐Fluctuating temperamental shyness and Low‐Stable attention shifting trajectories adjusted worse than other children when they entered elementary school. Background Methods Results Conclusion This study aims to examine the association of depressive trajectories with disability‐free‐survival (DFS).This prospective cohort study used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, 2011–2015. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Centre for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale‐10. Disability was assessed using activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs. Trajectories of depressive symptoms were identified and classified by latent mixture modelling. Logistic regression models were used to examine the association between depressive trajectories and DFS.A total of 8373 participants aged 45 years and older were included. We identified four distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms: ‘no depressive symptoms’, ‘decreasing depressive symptoms’, ‘increasing depressive symptoms’, and ‘persistent depressive symptoms’. Compared to participants in the no depressive symptom trajectory, those in the decreasing depressive symptoms, increasing depressive symptoms and persistent depressive symptoms trajectories had an increased risk of disability or mortality, with multiple‐adjusted hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) of 1.75 (1.45–2.12), 2.05 (1.77–2.38) and 3.50 (2.77–4.42).Our study shows that among middle‐aged and older Chinese adults, individuals with a trajectory of depressive symptoms are at increased risk of disability or mortality. Background: Sepsis is a heterogeneous syndrome. This study aimed to identify new sepsis sub-phenotypes using plasma cortisol trajectory. Methods: This retrospective study included patients with sepsis admitted to the intensive care unit of Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University between March 2020 and July 2022. A group-based cortisol trajectory model was used to classify septic patients into different sub-phenotypes. The clinical characteristics, biomarkers, and outcomes were compared between sub-phenotypes. Results: A total of 258 patients with sepsis were included, of whom 186 were male. Patients were divided into two trajectory groups: the lower-cortisol group (n = 217) exhibited consistently low and slowly declining cortisol levels, while the higher-cortisol group (n = 41) showed relatively higher levels in comparison. The 28-day mortality (65.9% vs.16.1%, P < 0.001) and 90-day mortality (65.9% vs. 19.8%, P < 0.001) of the higher-cortisol group were significantly higher than the lower-cortisol group. Multivariable Cox regression analysis showed that the trajectory sub-phenotype (HR = 5.292; 95% CI 2.218–12.626; P < 0.001), APACHE II (HR = 1.109; 95% CI 1.030–1.193; P = 0.006), SOFA (HR = 1.161; 95% CI 1.045–1.291; P = 0.006), and IL-1β (HR = 1.001; 95% CI 1.000–1.002; P = 0.007) were independent risk factors for 28-day mortality. Besides, the trajectory sub-phenotype (HR = 4.571; 95% CI 1.980–10.551; P < 0.001), APACHE II (HR = 1.108; 95% CI 1.043–1.177; P = 0.001), SOFA (HR = 1.270; 95% CI 1.130–1.428; P < 0.001), and IL-1β (HR = 1.001; 95% CI 1.000–1.001; P = 0.015) were also independent risk factors for 90-day mortality. Conclusion: This study identified two novel cortisol trajectory sub-phenotypes in patients with sepsis. Flat objects like electronic boards are challenging samples for high-resolution X-ray computed tomography scanning because their largest dimension significantly limits the magnification using circular trajectory scans. One way to improve spatial resolution for such samples is to utilize variable zoom trajectory. During variable zoom trajectory scanning, the source-to-object distance changes during the 360° rotation to maximize the magnification in the projections. Here, we propose an automatic variable zoom trajectory generation algorithm for arbitrary object and region of interest (ROI). We analyze how such a trajectory can enhance resolution in different cases and how isotropic is the resolution in the reconstructed volume. We demonstrate that the resolution can be improved without destroying the sample. Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is detected through a newborn screening program in Iran, enabling early detection and prompt treatment. This study addresses the longitudinal growth trajectory of Iranian children with CH and explores associated factors during the first 3 years of life. Data from 1474 children with CH in Isfahan, Iran (2002–2022), were analyzed. Weight, height, and head circumference were measured, and z-scores for age were calculated. Group-based trajectory modeling was applied to distinct growth trajectories. Factors influencing growth patterns, including gender, treatment initiation age, delivery method, parental consanguinity, history of familial hypothyroidism, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels at 3–7 days, were investigated. Thirty-seven percent of children diagnosed with CH faced a delay in weight, while 36.6% experienced stunted height, and 25.7% showed a retardation in head circumference growth. The initiation of treatment, parental consanguinity, and family history of hypothyroidism varied among these groups. Children exhibiting an optimal growth pattern in the initial 3 years of life demonstrated lower average TSH levels. Conclusion: This research emphasizes the complexity of managing CH and stresses the importance of tailoring interventions based on individualized characteristics and the ongoing growth patterns of the children. Future research is required to understand the intricate relationships between growth patterns and various determinants and optimize the growth and developmental outcomes of children with CH. Background: Depression is prevalent among lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and the symptom cluster of fatigue-pain-insomnia may influence their depression. Identifying characteristics of patients with different depression trajectories can aid in developing more targeted interventions. This study aimed to identify the trajectories of depression and the fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster, and to explore the predictive factors associated with the categories of depression trajectories. Methods: In this longitudinal study, 187 lung cancer patients who were undergoing chemotherapy were recruited and assessed at the first (T1), second(T2), and fourth(T3) months using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI), and the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). Growth Mixture Model (GMM) and Latent Class Analysis (LCA) were used to identify the different trajectories of the fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster and depression. Binary logistic regression was utilized to analyze the predictive factors of different depressive trajectories. Results: GMM identified two depressive trajectories: a high decreasing depression trajectory (40.64%) and a low increasing depression trajectory (59.36%). LCA showed that 48.66% of patients were likely members of the high symptom cluster trajectory. Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that having a history of alcohol consumption, a higher symptom cluster burden, unemployed, and a lower monthly income predicted a high decreasing depression trajectory. Conclusions: Depression and fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster in lung cancer chemotherapy patients exhibited two distinct trajectories. When managing depression in these patients, it is recommended to strengthen symptom management and pay particular attention to individuals with a history of alcohol consumption, unemployed, and a lower monthly income. Aim Method Results Conclusion To evaluate the association between changes in haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and the concurrent incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients.We conducted a retrospective cohort study among T2DM patients with HbA1c measurement after T2DM diagnosis between August 2009 and September 2010. The patients were classified into six subgroups based on baseline HbA1c (<7%; 7%–7.9%; ≥8%) and age (<65; ≥65 years), and then clustered into classes by HbA1c trajectory and CVD incidence over the 12‐year follow‐up period using joint latent class mixture models. We explored the HbA1c trajectories and CVD incidences in each latent class. Multinomial logistic regression was used to compare the baseline characteristics among different latent classes.A total of 128 843 T2DM patients were included with a median follow‐up period of 11.7 years. Ten latent classes were identified in patients with baseline HbA1c ≥ 8% and age <65 years, while seven classes were identified in the other five groups. Among all the identified latent classes, patients with fluctuating HbA1c trajectories, characterized by alternating periods of increase and decrease, had higher CVD incidences. Male patients, and patients with higher baseline HbA1c and use of antidiabetic drugs were more likely to have a fluctuating HbA1c trajectory. More specifically, patients aged < 65 years with younger age or a smoking habit, and patients aged ≥ 65 years with a longer duration of T2DM were more likely to have a fluctuating HbA1c trajectory.We found that T2DM patients with fluctuating HbA1c trajectories could have a higher CVD risk. AbstractThis paper deals with practices of personal mobility in public space, such as walking, passing-by and queuing, and their intelligible, recognizable and intersubjectively coordinated character. People co-exist in public places without having to explain their conduct in so-many-words; they smoothly navigate by coordinating their bodies and mobile trajectories without collisions; they queue without any instructions and differentiate between who joins the queue and who projects to butt in the queue. This article addresses the intelligibility of walking trajectories in public space, how they are bodily achieved and visibly interpreted. It reflects on mobility by relying on the notion of public in two different but complementary perspectives: a) by reference to mobility in the context of public places such as parks, squares, and streets; b) by reference to the public intelligibility and recognizability of mobile actions in social interaction. The convergence between these two notions of public enables us to investigate how mobile social actions are formed (made recognizable) and how they are ascribed (actually recognized) by co-present unacquainted persons in public space. The optimal target blood pressure for kidney transplant (KT) patients remains unclear. We included 808 KT patients from the KNOW-KT as a discovery set, and 1,294 KT patients from the KOTRY as a validation set. The main exposures were baseline systolic blood pressure (SBP) at 1 year after KT and time-varying SBP. Patients were classified into five groups: SBP <110; 110-119; 120-129; 130-139; and =140 mmHg. SBP trajectories were classified into decreasing, stable, and increasing groups. Primary outcome was composite kidney outcome of =50% decrease in eGFR or death-censored graft loss. Compared with the 110-119 mmHg group, both the lowest (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 2.43) and the highest SBP (aHR, 2.25) were associated with a higher risk of composite kidney outcome. In time-varying model, also the lowest (aHR, 3.02) and the highest SBP (aHR, 3.60) were associated with a higher risk. In the trajectory model, an increasing SBP trajectory was associated with a higher risk than a stable SBP trajectory (aHR, 2.26). This associations were consistent in the validation set. Background: A high triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is associated with a higher risk of incident heart failure. However, the effects of longitudinal patterns of TyG index on the risk of heart failure remain to be characterized. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to characterize the relationship between the trajectory of TyG index and the risk of heart failure. Methods: We performed a prospective study of 56,149 participants in the Kailuan study who attended three consecutive surveys in 2006–2007, 2008–2009, and 2010–2011 and had no history of heart failure or cancer before the third wave survey (2010–2011). The TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2], and we used latent mixture modeling to characterize the trajectory of the TyG index over the period 2006–2010. Additionally, Cox proportional risk models were used to calculate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident heart failure for the various TyG index trajectory groups. Results: From 2006 to 2010, four different TyG trajectories were identified: low-stable (n = 13,554; range, 7.98–8.07), moderate low-stable (n = 29,435; range, 8.60–8.65), moderate high-stable (n = 11,262; range, 9.31–9.30), and elevated-stable (n = 1,898; range, 10.04–10.25). A total of 1,312 new heart failure events occurred during a median follow-up period of 10.04 years. After adjustment for potential confounders, the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident heart failure for the elevated-stable, moderate high-stable, and moderate low-stable groups were 1.55 (1.15, 2.08), 1.32 (1.08, 1.60), and 1.17 (0.99, 1.37), respectively, compared to the low-stable group. Conclusions: Higher TyG index trajectories were associated with a higher risk of heart failure. This suggests that monitoring TyG index trajectory may help identify individuals at high risk for heart failure and highlights the importance of early control of blood glucose and lipids for the prevention of heart failure. Background: The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) has been shown to be positively correlated with cardiovascular events. However, it remains unclear whether hypertensive patients with long-term high AIP levels are at greater risk of developing heart failure (HF). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between AIP trajectory and the incidence of HF in hypertensive patients. Methods: This prospective study included 22,201 hypertensive patients from the Kailuan Study who underwent three waves of surveys between 2006 and 2010. Participants were free of HF or cancer before or during 2010. The AIP was calculated as the logarithmic conversion ratio of triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Latent mixed modeling was employed to identify different trajectory patterns for AIP during the exposure period (2006–2010). Cox proportional hazard models were then used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident HF among different trajectory groups. Results: Four distinct trajectory patterns were identified through latent mixture modeling analysis: low-stable group (n = 3,373; range, -0.82 to -0.70), moderate-low stable group (n = 12,700; range, -0.12 to -0.09), moderate-high stable group (n = 5,313; range, 0.53 to 0.58), and elevated-increasing group (n = 815; range, 1.22 to 1.56). During a median follow-up period of 9.98 years, a total of 822 hypertensive participants experienced HF. After adjusting for potential confounding factors, compared with those in the low-stable group, the HR and corresponding CI for incident HF in the elevated-increasing group, moderate-high stable group, and moderate-low stable group were estimated to be 1.79 (1.21,2.66), 1.49 (1.17,1.91), and 1.27 (1.02,1.58), respectively. These findings remained consistent across subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses. Conclusion: Prolonged elevation of AIP in hypertensive patients is significantly associated with an increased risk of HF. This review systematically examines the recent research from the past decade on diverse path-planning algorithms tailored for stereotactic neurosurgery applications. Our comprehensive investigation involved a thorough search of scholarly papers from Google Scholar, PubMed, IEEE Xplore, and Scopus, utilizing stringent inclusion and exclusion criteria. The screening and selection process was meticulously conducted by a multidisciplinary team comprising three medical students, robotic experts with specialized knowledge in path-planning techniques and medical robotics, and a board-certified neurosurgeon. Each selected paper was reviewed in detail, and the findings were synthesized and reported in this review. The paper is organized around three different types of intervention tools: straight needles, steerable needles, and concentric tube robots. We provide an in-depth analysis of various path-planning algorithms applicable to both single and multi-target scenarios. Multi-target planning techniques are only discussed for straight tools as there is no published work on multi-target planning for steerable needles and concentric tube robots. Additionally, we discuss the imaging modalities employed, the critical anatomical structures considered during path planning, and the current status of research regarding its translation to clinical human studies. To the best of our knowledge and as a conclusion from this systematic review, this is the first review paper published in the last decade that reports various path-planning techniques for different types of tools for minimally invasive neurosurgical applications. Furthermore, this review outlines future trends and identifies existing technology gaps within the field. By highlighting these aspects, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview that can guide future research and development in path planning for stereotactic neurosurgery, ultimately contributing to the advancement of safer and more effective neurosurgical procedures. Background: The causal relationships of late-life body mass index (BMI) with Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains debated. Objective: We aimed to assess the associations of dynamic BMI features (ΔBMIs) with cognitive trajectories, AD biomarkers, and incident AD risk. Methods: We analyzed an 8-year cohort of 542 non-demented individuals who were aged ≥65 years at baseline and had BMI measurements over the first 4 years. ΔBMIs were defined as changing extent (change ≤ or >5%), variability (standard deviation), and trajectories over the first 4 years measured using latent class trajectory modeling. Linear mixed-effect models were utilized to examine the influence of ΔBMIs on changing rates of AD pathology biomarkers, hippocampus volume, and cognitive functions. Cox proportional hazards models were used to test the associations with AD risk. Stratified analyzes were conducted by the baseline BMI group and age. Results: Over the 4-year period, compared to those with stable BMI, individuals who experienced BMI decreases demonstrated accelerated declined memory function (p = 0.006) and amyloid-β deposition (p = 0.034) while BMI increases were associated with accelerated hippocampal atrophy (p = 0.036). Three BMI dynamic features, including stable BMI, low BMI variability, and persistently high BMI, were associated with lower risk of incident AD (p < 0.005). The associations were validated over the 8-year period after excluding incident AD over the first 4 years. No stratified effects were revealed by the BMI group and age. In the present era, national borders frequently encounter the risk and threat of unidentified airspace objects such as airborne balloons; however, there is a lack of effective methods for predicting their trajectories. To address this gap, we examine the utilization of a Lagrangian diffusion model named FLEXPART for forecasting the movement of airborne balloons. The simulation results show that when taking into account the radius of the airborne balloon, there is a potential increase of up to 1.07 km and 1.45 km in the mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean square error (RMSE), respectively, in the horizontal direction. Similarly, considering the density of the airborne balloon can also result in an increase of 3.46 km (MAE) and 4.71 km (RMSE) horizontally. Therefore, simplifying them into mass points enables FLEXPART to predict their trajectories with higher accuracy. On this basis, we simulate and comparatively analyze the forward and backward trajectories of an airborne balloon observed in China in 2019 using the FLEXPART model. The results demonstrate that within 11 h, FLEXPART predicts the horizontal trajectory of the balloon, with both RMSE and MAE falling within 50 km. Moreover, when it comes to the vertical direction bias within the 11 h prediction, RMSE and MAE are both below 500 m. Furthermore, trajectory bias gradually diminishes as the forecast time increases. The combination of the sensitivity tests and the results of the actual balloon trajectory simulation confirm that the FLEXPART model is capable of predicting the airborne balloon trajectory. Although metacognition plays a pivotal role in theoretical accounts of mind wandering, their longitudinal relationships have not yet been investigated during the important developmental period of early adolescence. This study aimed to examine the developmental trajectories of spontaneous and deliberate mind wandering and the dynamic associations between metacognition and two types of mind wandering in early adolescence. A sample of 4302 Chinese students beginning in Grade 4 (47.4% female; initial Mage = 9.84, SDage = 0.47) completed questionnaires on five occasions over 2.5 years. The results showed that deliberate mind wandering, but not spontaneous mind wandering, gradually increased from Grade 4 to Grade 6. Metacognition was negatively related to spontaneous mind wandering but positively related to deliberate mind wandering. This study introduces an innovative scheme for classifying uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV)-derived vehicle trajectory behaviors by employing machine learning (ML) techniques to transform original trajectories into various sequences: space–time, speed–time, and azimuth–time. These transformed sequences were subjected to normalization for uniform data analysis, facilitating the classification of trajectories into six distinct categories through the application of three ML classifiers: random forest, time series forest (TSF), and canonical time series characteristics. Testing was performed across three different intersections to reveal an accuracy exceeding 90%, underlining the superior performance of integrating azimuth–time and speed–time sequences over conventional space–time sequences for analyzing trajectory behaviors. This research highlights the TSF classifier's robustness when incorporating speed data, demonstrating its efficiency in feature extraction and reliability in intricate trajectory pattern handling. This study's results indicate that integrating direction and speed information significantly enhances predictive accuracy and model robustness. Associations between daily functional trajectories and new-onset all-cause dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and the role of body weight are underexplored. Data were from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) 1994–2020. Daily function was assessed using (instrumental) activities of daily living ([I]ADLs). All-cause dementia and AD were defined by self- or proxy-reported physician diagnoses. Body weight was assessed using body mass index (BMI) and categorized as normal (18.5 kg/m2 ≤ BMI < 30 kg/m2) and abnormal (BMI < 18.5 kg/m2 or ≥30 kg/m2). The group-based trajectory modeling and Cox proportional hazards regression were utilized. Of 18,763 adults included, 1236 developed new-onset dementia during a 10-year follow-up. The associations of ADL and IADL limitations at baseline with all-cause dementia and AD were much more pronounced in those with abnormal weight (P for interaction < 0.005). Five joint trajectories of ADL and IADL limitations were identified: No (72.7 %), Recovery (4.0 %), Recent emerging (16.4 %), Early emerging (4.8 %), and Severe (2.1 %). Furthermore, the 'Severe' joint trajectory (vs. 'No') was associated with 3.57- and 3.59-times higher risks of new-onset all-cause dementia and AD in participants with abnormal weight (P for interaction = 0.002 and 0.005). Notably, the Recovery joint trajectory (vs. No) was not associated with increased risks of all-cause dementia or AD. Self-/proxy-reported all-cause dementia and AD may introduce misclassification bias. Lifestyle factors were not quantified. BMI at baseline, but not its trajectory, was utilized. Adolescent mental health problems impose a significant burden. Exploring evolving social environments could enhance comprehension of their impact on mental health. We aimed to depict the trajectories of the neighborhood social exposome from middle to late adolescence and assess the intricate relationship between them and late adolescent mental health. Participants (n = 3965) from the FinnTwin12 cohort with completed questionnaires at age 17 were used. Nine mental health measures were assessed. The social exposome comprised 28 neighborhood social indicators. Trajectories of these indicators from ages 12 to 17 were summarized via latent growth curve modeling into growth factors, including baseline intercept. Mixture effects of all growth factors were assessed through quantile-based g-computation. Repeated generalized linear regressions identified significant growth factors. Sex stratification was performed. The linear-quadratic model was the most optimal trajectory model. No mixture effect was detected. Regression models showed some growth factors saliently linked to the p-factor, internalizing problems, anxiety, hyperactivity, and aggression. The majority of them were baseline intercepts. Quadratic growth factors about mother tongues correlated with anxiety among sex-combined participants and males. The linear growth factor in the proportion of households of couples without children was associated with internalizing problems in females. We were limited to including only neighborhood-level social exposures, and the multilevel contextual exposome situation interfered with our assessment. Trajectories of the social neighborhood exposome modestly influenced late adolescent mental health. Purpose: Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a chronic symptom that can affect the overall functioning of lung cancer patients throughout the course of the disease. However, there is limited research on the trajectory and predictors of CRF specifically in lung cancer patients. Furthermore, few studies have investigated the predictive role of positive psychological and social factors in relation to CRF. This study aimed to explore the trajectory of CRF and its predictors in postoperative chemotherapy patients with lung cancer. Methods: A total of 202 lung cancer patients who underwent surgery and received adjuvant chemotherapy were recruited for this study. Baseline questionnaires were completed, covering sociodemographic information, disease details, CRF levels, personality traits, psychological resilience, and social support. CRF was assessed at three time points: first chemotherapy (T1), 3 months after chemotherapy (T2), and 6 months after chemotherapy (T3). Latent class growth modeling (LCGM) was used to identify distinct developmental trajectories of CRF. Logistic regression analysis was employed to examine predictors of CRF within different patient groups. Results: The LCGM analysis revealed three distinct CRF trajectories: persistent high fatigue group (30.7%), rising fatigue group (30.7%), and no fatigue group (38.6%). Cancer stage (OR = 7.563, 95% CI = 2.468–23.182, P < 0.001), melancholic personality (OR = 6.901, 95% CI = 1.261–37.764, P = 0.026), and high psychological resilience (OR = 0.171, 95% CI = 0.041–0.706, P = 0.015) were associated with the CRF trajectory. On the other hand, sanguine personality (OR = 0.254, 95% CI = 0.071–0.916, P = 0.036) and high social support (OR = 0.168, 95% CI = 0.045–0.627, P = 0.008) were associated with the increasing fatigue trajectory. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that 60% of lung cancer patients experienced persistent fatigue throughout the assessment period. Moreover, it confirmed the heterogeneity of CRF trajectories among lung cancer patients. The problem of trajectory for mobile robots included motion mobile robot from beginning point to end-point without collision with the obstacles. This article proposed two optimization methods, represented by Pelican Optimization Algorithm (POA) and Particle Optimization Algorithm (PSO) to have optimal trajectory for the mobile wheeled robot without collision in presence of obstacles. A minimization of the Mean Square Error (MSE) of positions (x,y) and orientation (θ) as fitness function for the proposed techniques. The mathematical representation of a mobile wheeled robot has been developed and experimental results have been conducted to verify the numerical results, which have been simulated using MATLAB software environment. The results showed that both POA and PSO could successfully avoid static obstacles. In addition, the results showed that less trajectory error can be obtained with POA as compared to PSO. Aims/Background Gestational diabetes mellitus is a common pregnancy complication that affects approximately 14% of pregnancies worldwide and can lead to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the trajectories of gestational weight gain among gestational diabetes mellitus patients and to inform the development of effective weight management strategies. Methods Demographic and antenatal examination data from 1421 pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus were retrospectively analysed. Quantitative data comparisons were performed using Chi-square tests, Fisher's exact test, t-tests, and one-way analysis of variance. Group-based trajectory modelling was employed to identify the trajectories of gestational weight gain among patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. Results This study revealed that pre-pregnancy body mass index and types of gestational diabetes mellitus significantly influence gestational weight gain (p < 0.05). Group-based trajectory modelling identified three distinct gestational weight gain trajectories. Patients with gestational diabetes mellitus demonstrated a continuous weight gain throughout pregnancy, while women who were overweight or obese before pregnancy were more likely to follow a low-speed growth trajectory. Women in the rapid growth trajectory group were more inclined to deliver by caesarean section and were more likely to give birth to macrosomic infants. Conclusion Our research underscores the importance of identifying and distinguishing between different gestational weight gain trajectories in pregnant women, thereby identifying high-risk groups, which is crucial for improving the health conditions of both mothers and newborns. The results show that the interaction between the high-speed regions and the low-speed flow increases, as the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability phenomenon occurs in the mixing fluid during traveling underwater. Under the effect of the inertial force, the tail bubble expands successively, resulting in an increase in cavity volume and a decrease in pressure. In addition, the wake vortex is composed of the main vortex and secondary vortex, which is a cone of the major influencing factors causing the disturbance of the flow field. The focus of this research is the optimization of impulsive maneuvers in the circular restricted three body problem with stochastic error sources. Two and three impulse transfer trajectories with corrective maneuvers are designed to minimize an upper statistical bound for total Δ V , including the sum of nominal impulsive Δ V plus the 3 σ upper bound for corrections. Error sources include an initial state dispersion, maneuver execution error, and random white disturbances modeled as process noise. Direct optimization is performed via nonlinear programming. At each step in the nonlinear program, the optimal location and number of trajectory correction maneuvers (TCM) is determined, simultaneously satisfying a set of position dispersion constraints along the trajectory. Analytical gradients of the nominal maneuver magnitude and trace of the TCM covariance are provided to the nonlinear program to avoid finite differencing and associated numerical errors. Partial derivatives of the TCM covariance require the propagation of second-order state transition tensors. This work incorporates process noise into the optimization problem by propagating the effect of the accumulated process noise covariance. As a result, populating analytical gradients requires the partial derivative of the accumulated process noise covariance, called the accumulated process noise covariance state sensitivity tensor, which is propagated similar to state transition tensors. Background: To identify physical activity (PA) trajectories in adults with or at risk of knee osteoarthritis and to evaluate the association of PA trajectories with incident knee replacement (KR). Methods: This study used data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative. The Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly and the KR were assessed annually from baseline to 9 years. Individuals were included if they did not undergo KR surgery at baseline and had data on PA at ≥ 1 visit before KR. Latent class growth mixture Modeling was used to identify the optimal trajectories of PA before KR. Log-binomial regression models were used to assess the association between PA trajectories and the risk of KR. Data analyses were conducted in all individuals and those with radiographic osteoarthritis (ROA) and significant knee pain (Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index pain score of ≥ 5 on a 0–20 scale) at baseline, respectively. Results: Of 4731 participants (mean age 61.1 years, 58.5% female), four distinct and slightly declined PA trajectories were identified. Compared to individuals with a "Low" PA trajectory, those with "Medium-low", "Medium-high", or "High" PA trajectories were not significantly associated with the risk of KR (risk ratios: 0.97–1.19, all p > 0.05). Similar PA trajectories and associations with the risk of KR were observed in the subgroups of individuals with radiographic osteoarthritis and those with significant knee pain at baseline, respectively. This study investigated the growth trajectory of emotional exhaustion and its predictors in clinical nurses in the context of healthcare crisis in the post pandemic era. A total of 422 Chinese clinical nurses were followed up three times over two months from December 2022 to January 2023, and data from the final 358 clinical nurses were analyzed. The growth mixed model was used to identify the trajectory categories, and the predictive factors of the trajectory types were analyzed by logistic regression. The relationship of the trajectory types of emotional exhaustion with psychological capital were analyzed by variance analysis. The best-fit growth mixture modeling revealed three class models: Class 1 characterized by high and increasing levels of emotional exhaustion, Class 2 characterized by moderate and decreasing levels of emotional exhaustion, and Class 3 characterized by low and decreasing levels of emotional exhaustion. These classes accounted for 9.78%, 83.52%, and 6.70% of clinical nurses, respectively. The results of the univariate analysis indicated that age, years of working experience, gender, past participation in emergency public health event rescue, and sleep quality were associated with the trajectory of emotional exhaustion. Logistic regression analysis revealed that gender, past participation in emergency public health event rescue, and sleep quality were independent predictors of the emotional exhaustion trajectory. The variance analysis of the four dimensions of psychological capital showed that there were statistically significant differences in scores of self-efficacy and hope dimensions among the three groups of emotionally exhausted individuals. Our study demonstrated the heterogeneity of emotional exhaustion among clinical nursing personnel in coping with healthcare system overload. Background: During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), end-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO2) is primarily determined by pulmonary blood flow, thereby reflecting the blood flow generated by CPR. We aimed to develop an EtCO2 trajectory-based prediction model for prognostication at specific time points during CPR in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Methods: We screened patients receiving CPR between 2015-2021 from a prospectively collected database of a tertiary-care medical center. The primary outcome was survival to hospital discharge. We used group-based trajectory modeling to identify the EtCO2 trajectories. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used for model development and internally validated using bootstrapping. We assessed performance of the model using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). Results: The primary analysis included 542 patients with a median age of 68.0 years. Three distinct EtCO2 trajectories were identified in patients resuscitated for 20 minutes (min): low (average EtCO2 10.0 millimeters of mercury [mm Hg]; intermediate (average EtCO2 26.5 mm Hg); and high (average EtCO2: 51.5 mm Hg). Twenty-min EtCO2 trajectory was fitted as an ordinal variable (low, intermediate, and high) and positively associated with survival (odds ratio 2.25, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.07-4.74). When the 20-min EtCO2 trajectory was combined with other variables, including arrest location and arrest rhythms, the AUC of the 20-min prediction model for survival was 0.89 (95% CI 0.86-0.92). All predictors in the 20-min model remained statistically significant after bootstrapping. Conclusion: Time-specific EtCO2 trajectory was a significant predictor of OHCA outcomes, which could be combined with other baseline variables for intra-arrest prognostication. Ventriculoscopic neuronavigation has been described in several articles. However, there are different ventriculoscopes and navigation systems. Due to these different combinations, it is difficult to find detailed neuronavigation protocols. We describe, step-by-step, a simple method to navigate both the trajectory until reaching the ventricular system, as well as the intraventricular work. We use a rigid ventriculoscope (LOTTA, KarlStorz) with an electromagnetic stylet (S8-StealthSystem, Medtronic). The protocol is based on a modified or 3-dimensionally printed trocar for navigating the extraventricular step and on a modified pediatric nasogastric tube for the intraventricular navigation. This protocol can be set up in less than 10 minutes. The extraventricular part is navigated by introducing the electromagnetic stylet inside the modified or 3-dimensionally printed trocar. Intraventricular navigation is done by combining a modified pediatric nasogastric tube with the electromagnetic stylet inside the endoscope's working channel. The most critical point is to obtain a blunt-bloodless ventriculostomy while achieving perfect alignment of all targeted structures via pure straight trajectories. This protocol is easy-to-set-up, avoids head rigid-fixation and bulky optical-based attachments to the ventriculoscope, and allows continuous navigation of both parts of the surgery. Since we have implemented this protocol, we have noticed a significant enhancement in both simple and complex ventriculoscopic procedures because the surgery is dramatically simplified. Denmark and Sweden have witnessed a historically significant amplification of parental influence in compulsory schools during the past two decades. The emphasis on parental involvement in these two countries reflects international trends of neoliberal governing of educational processes. We know very little about the interplay between beginning teachers' encounters with parents and how that influences the teachers' identity formation. This article investigates beginning teachers' experiences with parents in Sweden and Denmark and how these experiences reflect the teachers' professional identity development. Through a comparative case study approach, interviews were carried out with 10 teachers in pre-service and in-service phases of their profession to capture their interpretations of their experiences with parents. A framework involving the concepts of parent-teacher relations, professional teacher identity, and emerging and thickening trajectories was used to develop the interview questions and analyse data. The results show that beginning teachers experience challenges in their relations with parents and these challenges put a strain on their self-definition as professionals. These results provide implications for addressing the constraints on teachers' professional autonomy brought by a culture of clientelism which has the potential to change the role of teachers and therefore affect their professional identity development. The present investigations on tandem wing configurations primarily revolve around the effects of the spacing L and the phase difference φ between the forewing and the hindwing on aerodynamic performance. However, in nature, organisms employing biplane flight, such as dragonflies, demonstrate the ability to achieve superior aerodynamic performance by flexibly adjusting their flapping trajectories. Therefore, this study focuses on the effects of φ , as well as the trajectory of the hindwing, on aerodynamic performance. By summarizing four patterns of wake–wing interaction processes, it is indicated that φ = − 90 ∘ and 0 ∘ enhances the thrust of the hindwing, while φ = 90 ∘ and 180 ∘ result in reductions. Furthermore, the wake–wing interactions and shedding modes are summarized corresponding to three kinds of trajectories, including elliptical trajectories, figure-eight trajectories, and double figure-eight trajectories. The results show that the aerodynamic performance of the elliptical trajectory is similar to that of the straight trajectory, while the figure-eight trajectory with positive surging motion significantly enhances the aerodynamic performance of the hindwing. Objective: To identify bone marrow lesion (BML) trajectories over 4 years and their demographic and structural predictors in middle-aged and older adults with or at increased risk of knee osteoarthritis (OA). Methods: A total of 614 participants (mean age 61 years, 62% female) from the Osteoarthritis Initiative cohort (OAI) were included. BMLs in 15 anatomical locations of the knee were measured annually from baseline to 4 years using the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Osteoarthritis Knee Score (MOAKS) method. BML trajectories were determined using latent class mixed models (LCMMs). Multinomial logistic regression was used to examine baseline characteristics that predicted BML trajectories. Results: Three distinct BML trajectories were identified: "Mild-stable BMLs" (25.9%), "Moderate-stable BMLs" (66.4%), and "Rapid-rise BMLs" (7.7%). Compared to the "Mild-stable BMLs" trajectory, current smokers were more likely to be in the "Moderate-stable BMLs" (odds ratio [OR] 2.089, P < 0.001) and "Rapid-rise" (OR 2.462, P < 0.001) trajectories. Moreover, female sex and meniscal tears were associated with an increased risk of being in the "Rapid-rise BMLs" trajectory (OR 2.023 to 2.504, P < 0.05). Participants who had higher education levels and drank more alcohol were more likely to be in the "Rapid-rise BMLs" trajectory (OR 1.624 to 3.178, P < 0.05) and less likely to be in the "Moderate-stable BMLs" trajectory (OR 0.668 to 0.674, P < 0.05). Conclusions: During the 4-year follow-up, most participants had relatively stable BMLs, few had enlarged BMLs, and no trajectory of decreased BMLs was identified. The experience of loneliness has become ubiquitous in society today. However, despite the prevalence and considerable effects of loneliness, research on how this societal issue relates to the workplace remains limited. To address this shortcoming, we propose that loneliness is a permeating force that has a robust and persistent negative effect on employees' job satisfaction. We test our proposition using a nationally representative longitudinal sample of 627 Dutch employees surveyed each year between 2016 and 2018. Results of latent growth modeling indicate that loneliness is negatively related to job satisfaction, offering support for loneliness as a permeating force. Further, the effect of loneliness on job satisfaction remains significant despite controlling for well‐established predictors of job satisfaction found in the Jobs‐Demand Resource model (i.e., robustness) and has a significant influence on the trajectory of employees' job satisfaction over several years (i.e., persistence). On the basis of these results, we make the theoretical contribution of proposing that loneliness is a permeating force that infiltrates individuals' experiences at work. We further argue that the ramifications of loneliness on employees, and subsequently the organizations that employ them, are likely far more significant, sustained, and irrespective of work characteristics than previously understood. Objectives: Post-traumatic growth can improve the quality of life of cancer survivors. The objective of this study was to investigate post-traumatic growth heterogeneity trajectory in perioperative gastric cancer survivors, and to identify characteristics that predict membership for each trajectory. Methods: Gastric cancer survivors (n = 403) were recruited before surgery, their baseline assessment (including post-traumatic growth and related characteristics) was completed, and post-traumatic growth levels were followed up on the day they left the intensive care unit, at discharge, and 1 month after discharge. Latent growth mixture mode was used to identify the heterogeneous trajectory of post-traumatic growth, and the core predictors of trajectory subtypes were explored using a decision tree model. Results: Three post-traumatic growth development trajectories were identified among gastric cancer survivors: stable high of PTG group (20.6%), fluctuation of PTG group (44.4%), persistent low of PTG group (35.0%). The decision tree model showed anxiety, coping style, and psychological resilience—which was the primary predictor—might be used to predict the PTG trajectory subtypes of gastric cancer survivors. Conclusions: There was considerable variability in the experience of post-traumatic growth among gastric cancer survivors. Recognition of high-risk gastric cancer survivors who fall into the fluctuation or persistent low of PTG group and provision of psychological resilience-centered support might allow medical professionals to improve patients’ post-traumatic growth and mitigate the impact of negative outcomes. Background: While previous research has established that resilience is affected by various factors, these studies have primarily focussed on individual variables associated with resilience, without providing insights into how to influence the rate of change in resilience. Aim: To examine the trajectory of resilience and identify the factors associated with changes in resilience among spousal caregivers of patients with newly diagnosed advanced cancer receiving treatment during the first 6 months. Design: An observational longitudinal study. Methods: A total of 312 spousal caregivers of patients with newly diagnosed advanced cancer were recruited from January 2022 to December 2022 in Yancheng, China. Three data collection points were established, spanning from the first month to 6 months after initial cancer treatment. A latent growth model was employed to depict the resilience trajectory at various time points. A latent growth model with time‐invariant covariates was adopted to determine the factors influencing resilience trajectory. The study adhered to the STROBE checklist for proper reporting. Results: Throughout the follow‐up period, the participants experienced a significant increase in resilience. Gender, family income, the patient's health status, spirituality and belief in familism were significantly associated with the baseline resilience level. Moreover, family income, the patient's health status, spirituality, caregiver burden and belief in familism were significantly associated with the rate of resilience change over time. Conclusions: Spousal caregivers demonstrated a linear increase in resilience during the first 6 months after initial treatment. Meanwhile, changes in resilience were influenced by multiple factors during the early phase of cancer treatment. Thus, more attention should be paid to early identification and implementation of targeted interventions. The global urgency to halt and reverse mangrove loss has led to the implementation of numerous initiatives to protect and restore mangroves and recover critical ecological functions and services. Restoration success is assessed by estimating mangrove survival, while diversity, vegetation structure, and soil characteristics are often overlooked with no long‐term monitoring. Here, we investigated long‐term changes in vegetation and soil characteristics of Avicennia germinans‐dominated stands planted along Guyana's coast between 5 and 11 years old. A chronosequence approach was used to examine changes in vegetation and soil parameters in restored mangrove stands of different ages compared to natural stands of the same ages. Tree height, diameter, and aboveground biomass were inconsistent between restored and natural mangrove stands. Redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that the soil properties were the important factors influencing both the restored and natural mangrove communities. There were no clear trajectories between the vegetation and soil characteristics with age, possibly due to site‐specific and hydrodynamic environmental factors, such as tidal dynamics, riverine inputs, and climatic variations. While there were some equivalent vegetation and soil characteristics at the end of the first decade after restoration, the restored mangroves may require a longer timespan (approximately 25 years) than the period overserved in our study to be entirely identical to the natural mangroves. This case study from Guyana provides valuable insights into the ecological processes driving mangrove recovery dynamics, growth patterns, and restoration effectiveness and offers reliable data needed to inform future restoration projects. • Why was this study conduted? • Some study investigated probe motion in simulated settings, but few in a clinical setting during second trimester scans. We hypothesized that probe trajectory might differ according to operator's level, fetal presentation (e.g., cephalic or breech) or patient body mass index (BMI). • What does this study add? • In a clinical setting, some differences in the path metrics (velocity, acceleration, jerk and working volume) were noticed according to participant level. However, angular metrics, i.e., the quantity of rotation applied to the probe, were not affected by operator's level, fetal presentations nor patient's BMI. This study aims to investigate probe motion during full mid-trimester anomaly scans. We undertook a prospective, observational study of obstetric sonographers at a UK University Teaching Hospital. We collected prospectively full-length video recordings of routine second-trimester anomaly scans synchronized with probe trajectory tracking data during the scan. Videos were reviewed and trajectories analyzed using duration, path metrics (path length, velocity, acceleration, jerk, and volume) and angular metrics (spectral arc, angular area, angular velocity, angular acceleration, and angular jerk). These trajectories were then compared according to the participant level of expertise, fetal presentation, and patient BMI. A total of 17 anomaly scans were recorded. The average velocity of the probe was 12.9 ± 3.4 mm/s for the consultants versus 24.6 ± 5.7 mm/s for the fellows (p = 0.02), the average acceleration 170.4 ± 26.3 mm/s2 versus 328.9 ± 62.7 mm/s2 (p = 0.02), and the average jerk 7491.7 ± 1056.1 mm/s3 versus 14944.1 ± 3146.3 mm/s3 (p = 0.02), the working volume 9.106 ± 4.106 mm3 versus 29.106 ± 11.106 mm3 (p = 0.03), respectively. The angular metrics were not significantly different according to the participant level of expertise, the fetal presentation, or to patients BMI. In current signal control schemes, the prevailing control method is still the arterial coordinated control, which involves coordinating a group of adjacent traffic signals along a major road. However, during the actual implementation process, technicians have observed substantial variations in the effectiveness of mainline coordinated control across different road segments. These variations are attributed to different signal control strategies, giving rise to an ongoing debate regarding the alignment of the beginning or end of the green phase. The impact of these two alignment methods on bandwidth and road capacity in arterial coordinated control remains a subject of controversy. Therefore, this paper aims to compare the two methods using a real-world scenario. Based on the inherent characteristics of coordinated control, a traffic capacity model for coordinated segments was established. Subsequently, the influence of green start alignment and green end alignment on the capacity of green wave segments and the improvement of existing traffic conditions was analyzed using the proposed capacity model. To validate the analytical model, simulations were executed using VISSIM, and data on delay and the number of stops were collected. The conclusion indicates that from the perspective of benefits and safety, green start alignment outperforms green end alignment. This research provides insights for parameter settings in signal coordinated control, with the potential to significantly reduce the number of vehicle stops, and has practical significance for energy conservation and emission reductions. The acquisition and analysis of high-quality sensor data constitute an essential requirement in shaping the development of fully autonomous driving systems. This process is indispensable for enhancing road safety and ensuring the effectiveness of the technological advancements in the automotive industry. This study introduces the Interaction of Autonomous and Manually Controlled Vehicles (IAMCV) dataset, a novel and extensive dataset focused on intervehicle interactions. The dataset, enriched with a sophisticated array of sensors such as lidar, cameras, inertial measurement unit/Global Positioning System, and vehicle bus data acquisition, provides a comprehensive representation of real-world driving scenarios that include roundabouts, intersections, country roads, and highways, recorded across diverse locations in Germany. Furthermore, the study shows the versatility of the IAMCV dataset through several proof-of-concept use cases. First, an unsupervised trajectory clustering algorithm illustrates the dataset’s capability in categorizing vehicle movements without the need for labeled training data. Second, we compare an online camera calibration method with the Robot Operating System-based standard, using images captured in the dataset. Finally, a preliminary test employing the YOLOv8 object-detection model is conducted, augmented by reflections on the transferability of object detection across various lidar resolutions. Abstract Background Depression is prevalent among lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and the symptom cluster of fatigue-pain-insomnia may influence their depression. Identifying characteristics of patients with different depression trajectories can aid in developing more targeted interventions. This study aimed to identify the trajectories of depression and the fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster, and to explore the predictive factors associated with the categories of depression trajectories. Methods In this longitudinal study, 187 lung cancer patients who were undergoing chemotherapy were recruited and assessed at the first (T1), second(T2), and fourth(T3) months using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI), and the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). Growth Mixture Model (GMM) and Latent Class Analysis (LCA) were used to identify the different trajectories of the fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster and depression. Binary logistic regression was utilized to analyze the predictive factors of different depressive trajectories. Results GMM identified two depressive trajectories: a high decreasing depression trajectory (40.64%) and a low increasing depression trajectory (59.36%). LCA showed that 48.66% of patients were likely members of the high symptom cluster trajectory. Binary logistic regression analysis indicated that having a history of alcohol consumption, a higher symptom cluster burden, unemployed, and a lower monthly income predicted a high decreasing depression trajectory. Conclusions Depression and fatigue-pain-insomnia symptom cluster in lung cancer chemotherapy patients exhibited two distinct trajectories. When managing depression in these patients, it is recommended to strengthen symptom management and pay particular attention to individuals with a history of alcohol consumption, unemployed, and a lower monthly income.

Abstract Background A high triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is associated with a higher risk of incident heart failure. However, the effects of longitudinal patterns of TyG index on the risk of heart failure remain to be characterized. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to characterize the relationship between the trajectory of TyG index and the risk of heart failure. Methods We performed a prospective study of 56,149 participants in the Kailuan study who attended three consecutive surveys in 2006–2007, 2008–2009, and 2010–2011 and had no history of heart failure or cancer before the third wave survey (2010–2011). The TyG index was calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma glucose (mg/dL)/2], and we used latent mixture modeling to characterize the trajectory of the TyG index over the period 2006–2010. Additionally, Cox proportional risk models were used to calculate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident heart failure for the various TyG index trajectory groups. Results From 2006 to 2010, four different TyG trajectories were identified: low-stable (n = 13,554; range, 7.98–8.07), moderate low-stable (n = 29,435; range, 8.60–8.65), moderate high-stable (n = 11,262; range, 9.31–9.30), and elevated-stable (n = 1,898; range, 10.04–10.25). A total of 1,312 new heart failure events occurred during a median follow-up period of 10.04 years. After adjustment for potential confounders, the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for incident heart failure for the elevated-stable, moderate high-stable, and moderate low-stable groups were 1.55 (1.15, 2.08), 1.32 (1.08, 1.60), and 1.17 (0.99, 1.37), respectively, compared to the low-stable group. Conclusions Higher TyG index trajectories were associated with a higher risk of heart failure. This suggests that monitoring TyG index trajectory may help identify individuals at high risk for heart failure and highlights the importance of early control of blood glucose and lipids for the prevention of heart failure.

Abstract Background The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) has been shown to be positively correlated with cardiovascular events. However, it remains unclear whether hypertensive patients with long-term high AIP levels are at greater risk of developing heart failure (HF). Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the association between AIP trajectory and the incidence of HF in hypertensive patients. Methods This prospective study included 22,201 hypertensive patients from the Kailuan Study who underwent three waves of surveys between 2006 and 2010. Participants were free of HF or cancer before or during 2010. The AIP was calculated as the logarithmic conversion ratio of triglycerides to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Latent mixed modeling was employed to identify different trajectory patterns for AIP during the exposure period (2006–2010). Cox proportional hazard models were then used to estimate the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for incident HF among different trajectory groups. Results Four distinct trajectory patterns were identified through latent mixture modeling analysis: low-stable group (n = 3,373; range, -0.82 to -0.70), moderate-low stable group (n = 12,700; range, -0.12 to -0.09), moderate-high stable group (n = 5,313; range, 0.53 to 0.58), and elevated-increasing group (n = 815; range, 1.22 to 1.56). During a median follow-up period of 9.98 years, a total of 822 hypertensive participants experienced HF. After adjusting for potential confounding factors, compared with those in the low-stable group, the HR and corresponding CI for incident HF in the elevated-increasing group, moderate-high stable group, and moderate-low stable group were estimated to be 1.79 (1.21,2.66), 1.49 (1.17,1.91), and 1.27 (1.02,1.58), respectively. These findings remained consistent across subgroup analyses and sensitivity analyses. Conclusion Prolonged elevation of AIP in hypertensive patients is significantly associated with an increased risk of HF. This finding suggests that regular monitoring of AIP could aid in identifying individuals at a heightened risk of HF within the hypertensive population.

Since the end of the 20th century, the imaginary of living being reducible to its genetic information has been a decisive factor in the generalization of biotech considered as a set of new innovation practices associating the academic and industrial worlds, particularly in the medical sector. This article suggests that there multiple socio-technical imaginaries of the living that could be used to adapt the biotechnology innovation model beyond the medical sector. Based on the trajectory of a scientific and economic project aimed at getting microorganisms to produce a small molecule between the early 1990s and the mid-2010s in France and North America, this article argues two things. Firstly, it describes how the notions of platform molecules and metabolic pathways are at the heart of a biochemical imaginary of the living, updating an ancient vision of the living that has been erased by the rise of genetic engineering. On the other hand, the article shows how certain properties of this biochemical living are mobilized to adapt the biotechnology model to the industrial chemistry sector and to new territories.

Abstract Background To identify physical activity (PA) trajectories in adults with or at risk of knee osteoarthritis and to evaluate the association of PA trajectories with incident knee replacement (KR). Methods This study used data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative. The Physical Activity Scale for the Elderly and the KR were assessed annually from baseline to 9 years. Individuals were included if they did not undergo KR surgery at baseline and had data on PA at ≥ 1 visit before KR. Latent class growth mixture Modeling was used to identify the optimal trajectories of PA before KR. Log-binomial regression models were used to assess the association between PA trajectories and the risk of KR. Data analyses were conducted in all individuals and those with radiographic osteoarthritis (ROA) and significant knee pain (Western Ontario and McMaster Osteoarthritis Index pain score of ≥ 5 on a 0–20 scale) at baseline, respectively. Results Of 4731 participants (mean age 61.1 years, 58.5% female), four distinct and slightly declined PA trajectories were identified. Compared to individuals with a “Low” PA trajectory, those with “Medium-low”, “Medium-high”, or “High” PA trajectories were not significantly associated with the risk of KR (risk ratios: 0.97–1.19, all p > 0.05). Similar PA trajectories and associations with the risk of KR were observed in the subgroups of individuals with radiographic osteoarthritis and those with significant knee pain at baseline, respectively. Conclusion In participants with or at risk of knee osteoarthritis, PA slightly declines over time and may play no role in the risk of KR.
