- Abstract
The purpose of this article is to thoroughly research Habermas’ view of technology with regard to his discourse ethics. In the first part of the article, Habermas’ theoretical starting points concerning the question of technology are presented. In the next segment, findings are presented, which can be traced mainly in an indirect way from Habermas’ discussions on media theory and from his theory of the colonization of the lifeworld. In the next step, Habermas’ relation to the phenomenon of mass media is addressed. The mass media are understood as a concrete expression of modern progress and are closely linked to technological development. In the last part of the article, Habermas’ relation to the internet is presented. The internet is widely considered an alternative to the mass media in modern times. The article presents a holistic analysis of Habermas’ relation to technology. It also presents some interesting findings regarding Habermas’ positioning towards the mass media and the internet. The aim of this paper is to determine which country has technological superiority in the field of industry by analysing the strategic approaches to the industrial development of three leading industrial countries (Germany, China, and the US), as well as selected indicators of industrial development. The results of the research show that China has the most ambitious approach and pretension to take a leading position in a large number of high-tech industries. Since 2014, China has become the second-largest industrial power, right after Germany, while the US has been in fourth place since 2017. China leads in terms of the share of industrial products in global trade and the share of manufacturing value added in the total world gross domestic product. Since 2015, China and Germany have developed intensive cooperation in the area of hi-tech industrial production, while bilateral relations between China and the US are tight due to the trade war. While the US, as the third-largest bilateral trading partner of Germany (after China and the Netherlands), is generating a trade deficit, China is making a breakthrough towards the European market, which is in line with the strategy of taking the position of a global leader in high technology. - Abstract
Prethodni uslov je da se višak bogatstva koji odlazi organizatorima proizvodnje preusmeri ostatku stanovništva., This paper analyzes the idea of universal basic income, which implies a periodic monetary payment received by all members of the society, with no prerequisites. Most former viewpoints contained numerous utopian elements. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is to point to the reality of this idea and answer the question whether it is yet another in a series of utopias, or there are actual foundations for its realization today. Modern technological development opens the space for increasing production by excluding human labour from it and by increasing profits of production organizers, whereas an increasing number of workers face temporary periods of unemployment during their working lives. All of the above make the idea of universal mandatory income up-to-date. The text explains the attitude that technological development, through mechanisms of profit redistribution, opens the space for this idea to overgrow its utopian character and become reality. The prerequisite is that the surplus of wealth that goes to production organizers should be redirected to the rest of the population.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that builds smart machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence - thus, by simulating human intelligence, they are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. It is an interdisciplinary science that has multiple approaches, and advances in machine learning are creating a paradigm shift in almost all sectors of the technology industry. The rapid progress of this technology raises many ethical questions, so the focus of this thesis is the relationship between artificial intelligence and roboethics, or the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence. Roboethics is a growing interdisciplinary approach which includes both applied ethics and robotics, all for the purpose of understanding the ethical implications and consequences of robotic technology as a branch of artificial intelligence. Thus, we will try to explore what the ethical implications are and how the presence of artificial intelligence in everyday life affects us.

Globalna konkurencija ukazuje na potrebne promjene u tehnološkom napretku samih traktora u segmentu motora i ostalih performansi proizvoda, uključujući veću učinkovitost i udobnost.

Natural disasters, global warming, interfering of human in nature on the one hand and technological development, the use of robots without the need of human control on the other side are objects of discussions that characterize our lives in the present and will be increasingly more present in the future. Our everyday life is accompanied by news about sometimes unimaginable natural phenomena, and at the same time, technology offers us solutions that relieve us of everyday tasks. Geo hazards as a result of natural processes in combination with human interfering in nature threaten the quality of our lives, and technology helps us to deal with this problem. In the event of severe floods or landslides, earthquakes, tsunamis or even volcanic eruptions, human action can be life-threatening. Using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle we can analyse, limit and control geo hazards. The drone flies without the presence of a human, using the latest technologies for accurate and safe flying. To detect changes in the environment, terrain collapse, rising water, slipping or decay of buildings, we need quality optical and thermal cameras, which, along with powerful drones, offer analysis of unapproachable terrain even in the most demanding conditions. High resolution and multiple zoom offer detailed shots from great distances and heights. Low or high temperatures, strong winds, chemical hazards or natural obstacles in the area, with the precision of unmanned aerial vehicles, do not prevent us from quality analysis and control of geo-hazards. Thus, in compliance with the applicable legislation, we can more or less successfully deal with geo hazards.

Thesis explores connection between technological development and development of social institutions that requires a literate and educated population for its operation. Historical analysis of modern bureaucratic state and its development will show that computer code is taking a central place in social organization, thus increasing the need to implement such technologies. Consequently, this leads to growing interest to acquire this kind of intelligence the same way it once did with writing and reading. Special attention is paid to the institution of school, its role and development within bureaucratic state, while providing possible solutions in the transition to the information society. This claim is supported with case study of Estonia, arguing that it can be used as an example of successfully executed digitalization of state organization. Estonia is shown to be relevant example for Slovenia, due to their many similarities including their independence and successfully executed early economic transition.

Pomanjkanje kompetentnega kadra namreč vodi v neurejene delovne razmere in v nezmožnost zagotavljanja kakovostnih varnostnih storitev. Technological advancement is a current development trend in the private security industry. It represents an opportunity for upgrading security services as well as for solving labour shortage, which is one of the fundamental problems of private security companies. The master's thesis thus interconnects these two current challenges with the aim to analyse the impact of technological development on labour shortage in private security companies. More specifically, we focused on the potential benefits of using security robots and unmanned aircraft systems, discovering that their implementation in the private security business can contribute to the optimization of financial and human resources. The qualitative research, which included interviews with representatives of the Slovenian private security sector, analysed the development orientation of companies in this field and the feasibility of implementing advanced technological solutions into practice. The results show that the current labour market-related problems strongly influence the private security in Slovenia. For instance, the lack of skilled labour leads to inefficient working conditions and the inability to provide quality security services. Companies recognize the potential benefits of advanced technological solutions and their impact on higher efficiency in providing security services. Furthermore, while companies place technological and personnel development among their strategic goals, development is hindered by an unstable market and rigid regulatory frameworks. The presented challenges require a multi-level problem-solving approach, including private security companies, regulators, clients and other related entities.

- Abstract
Demographic change, technological development and economic growth are seen in the group of the largest global challenges nowadays. Even though it might not be intentional, they are interconnected and play role of cause and consequence for each other. The nexus between demographics and technology and their interactions have the power to stimulate or to hinder growth, therefore the question what features demographic structure should have in order to push technology and economy forward is relevant to answer. Since the time known to humanity, global population increases. The increase has been also growing, meaning that humanity needed less and less time to reach additional billion – the 2 billionth, 3 billionth, 4 billionth, 5 billionth, and the 6 billionth took 123, 33, 14, 13, and 12 years, respectively. But, for the 7 billionth the humanity took 13 years, in addition to an estimation that the total population of the Earth will stop growing within the lifespan of people who live today. In addition, OECD estimates that there is going to be 51 elderly per 100 individuals of working age, which is only one among arguments proving another aspect of demographic change – aging population. This paper aims at better understating of relations between demography, technology and economy in urban context of Serbia. Statistical data at the level of cities, as they are defined by the Law on Territorial Organization of the Republic of Serbia (2007), are analysed regarding all three aspects, including depopulation, population aging, education structure, working population capacity, employment in technology, etc. The analysed sections of data are interpreted in mutual correlation, thus indicating features of demographic change and their expected outcomes in technology and economics.

The title of the paper is Analysis of the wood industry and an example of the establishment of a wood processing plant. The paper consists of two parts, general and practical. The first part of the paper deals with the analysis of the Slovenian wood processing industry and with the way we manage state forests. The practical part relates to the concrete case of the establishment of a wood processing plant. At the beginning, I find that forests are an important part of the ecosystem and that they offer a living space for animals and plants, as well as space for people to relax. Hereinafter, I find that Slovenia is overlapped by forests by almost 60%, which places us in third place in the European Union. We cut less wood than it is possible and 74% of the forests are privately owned, while the rest is owned by the state or the municipalities. I find that Slovenia is characterized by a small ownership stake in forests, which is a problem in the efficient management of forests. We see that there has been a decline in the number of employees in the wood industry and that many companies in this industry have collapsed. The export of logs is too high and we are missing links in the chain, which would provide semi-products for domestic manufacturers of finished products. All of this is reflected in the lower added value per employee, plus the added value on wood is created abroad. A common point and the reason for these problems is insufficient investment in the technological development of the industry. I find that due to all this, a next paradox occurs: we export raw logs abroad, and then we import products made from this same wood for a higher price back to our homeland. The arrival of foreign capital in this industry is indicated, with different opinions being expressed whether this will be good for the Slovenian economy in the long run. The forests owned by the Republic of Slovenia are managed by the Slovenski državni gozdovi, d. o. o. (Slovenian National Forests, Ltd.), which is currently showing positive business results, but problems remain (disparity in the question of establishing wood processing centres, company policies). In the practical part, I find that there are sufficient raw materials in Slovenia for the new wood processing plant. The highest redemption price is achieved by logs of oak. I present a concrete balance sheet of the new plant, which could be called Slovenska žaga, d. o. o. it would primarily function as a sawmill. I find that this plant is a realistic option, but further concrete steps are required together with additional market research and the acquisition of customers. However, it is highly suggested for this plant to produce semi-products for end-product manufacturers in the wooden house industry. This is confirmed by our visit to the wood processing company and by the questionnaire sent to the company that produces wooden houses. I also find that there is a possibility of obtaining (non-refundable) funds for the new plant.

The paper discusses innovative performance of firms and underlying competencies, namely technological, marketing and complementary. Competencies are regarded as networks of various capabilities and other firm assets and can be used for cross-industry comparisons. The study is based on a survey carried out among 50 established Slovenian manufacturing companies addressing competencies which they employ in their 65 distinct product lines. Three distinct segments of firms are established based on innovative performance indicators. Used are techniques of multivariate statistics, including cluster analysis and analysis of variance. The results imply that the most innovative firms simultaneously develop technological, marketing and complementary competencies. The implications of our findings are valuable to the firms aligning their competencies with their strategy, as well as to policy makers in technology following countries. Članek obravnava inovacijsko uspešnost podjetij in njihove ključne kompetence, med njimi tehnološke, trženjske in komplementarne. Kompetence predstavljajo mreže različnih sposobnosti in drugih sredstev podjetja. Na osnovi kazalcev inovacijske uspešnosti so opredeljeni trije segmenti podjetij. Uporabljena so orodja multivariatne analize, in sicer razvrščanje v skupine in analiza variance.

Jedno je sasvim izvjesno: novinarstvo i mediji neće funkcionirati na način kako je to bilo dosada., Media and journalism are in constant uncertainty caused by the influence of online communities . A certain change is: ways of content distribution to consumers, media content and its production. Changes induced by metamedia - the internet is changing the position of the media market and the fundamental role of journalism. In response to these challenges in the U.S. several years ago began to develop the concept of "entrepreneurial journalism" that is still relatively unknown in the European public. Computers write news for, and artificial-intelligence experts at Google, predict that by of 2029. PCs to be smarter than the people, that in the next 15 years become more and more intelligent and will be able to understand what you 're talking about, learn from experience, they joke, tell stories, and even flirt. Journalism still has not found the outlines of his new identity, but it partly determines the logic of speed, brevity and superficiality of competition. The role of the editor is changing drastically - the editor should develop a vision angle and create an environment of different specialists who will thoughtfully implement it in practice. To have a greater effect on advertisers, journalists and editors are expected to not act in isolation in relation to the media business, and they know the mechanisms that determine whether and how advertisers appear within the online media. Respecting editorial integrity, journalists are the ones who should influence the greater engagement of readers. New professions in mediasfera is the creator of Content Curation, which are of great use journalistic and editorial experience. Computer - mediated communication replaces the actual communication and the media no longer represent reality but create it. In such circumstances, the media are no longer defined by their monopolistic or oligopolistic status, but their position in the market is determined to create their own identity in the online environment without boundaries. Classic media are still in the process of seeking effective business model and profit model that will replace the models that no longer work. In the next few years, creating content as the area will be the backbone of the formation of the Company's budget for the three dependent areas - media, marketing and PR. Ignoring the changes in media and journalism that the developed world is driven only means that some media will not survive, that some journalists will lose their jobs or become preparers content. Changes as a permanent modus vivendi in Serbia and the region are visible through a change in the way the media and the changing structure media content, which is the subject of the research conducted for this study. To predict the future of media and journalism are needed facts in the absence of which it is possible to rely on the thinking and experience of developed media community. One thing is certain: journalism and the media will not function the way it was before.

The paper attempts to integrate indicators of economic growth based on innovation, technology research, and knowledge with the indicators of quality of life. The research collected data at the macro-economic level from the Republic of Slovenia between 1990 and 2011 and empirically verified individual variables based on the quality of life and economic growth. The main purpose of the research was to conceptualize and empirically verify individual variables based on the quality of life and company success, using a sample of 288 economic companies at the micro-economic level. Their innovation-government mechanisms and innovation-innovative process show a strong correlation, while technology research, innovation, knowledge, and company´s success show a medium-strong correlation with the quality of life at the micro-economic level. Technology research, knowledge, and economic growth also show a strong correlation with the quality of life at the macro-economic level in the Republic of Slovenia. Company´s success and economic growth in the Republic of Slovenia have a positive effect on the quality of life. The scientific contribution is based on the application of the new QL-TRIK model that investigates how economic growth fuels quality of life through technology research, innovation, and knowledge.

This paper focuses on trend analysis of crop productivity growth in Nigeria between 1961 and 2014. It was therefore intended to estimate the effect of different factors of production that influence crop output and to compute their technical efficiency, technological change and total factor productivity change. Panel data was broken into land, labour, tractor, fertilizer and animal power. Descriptive statistics, Cobb-Douglas production analysis and Malmquist Productivity index were the tools employed for the analysis. The result of the trend analysis shows that time has a positive effect on crop production and also shows that there is an increase in crop output, land, labour, tractor, fertilizer and animal power over years. Land and animal power are statistically significant at 1% probability level and a unit increase in land and animal power, crop output increases by 2.176772 tons and 0.7531192 tons respectively, this implies that land and animal power have a positive effect on crop output in Nigeria. Labour and tractor have negative impact on crop output, while fertilizer has no significant effect on crop output. The efficiency change, technical change and total factor productivity change were also analyzed. According to the analysis, Nigeria experienced the highest agricultural productivity from 1992, with value of 1.166. It is therefore recommended that the use of agricultural land should be increased, relevant policies should address the constraints to technology progress, and efficiency should be promoted in order to improve productivity growth., Ovaj je rad usredotočen na analizu kretanja rasta proizvodnje poljoprivrednih kultura u Nigeriji u razdoblju od 1961. do 2014.
