The rapid development of modern digital technologies entails an increase in the quantity and quality of changes in the communication system. Digitalization affects the transformation of communication processes, creating new conditions for information exchange, interaction and communication. The aim is to study the modern cultural trends in the communication development in the conditions of digitalization. In order to achieve the goal, the article provides the terminological analysis of the concepts of "communication" and "digitalization", considers the main features and trends of the digitalization process, analyzes the transformation of communication and highlights the features of digitalization in Ukraine. Methodology. The culturological approach was used as the methodological tool of the research, which allowed to carry out scientific analysis of the studied phenomena through cultural determination and provided a panoramic multidimensional view and polysystemic explanation of the essence of cultural trends in the communication in conditions of digitalization. Results. It is concluded that digitalization is the process of systematization, use, processing of information in digital format to optimize, automate, improve communication and increase its productivity. Modern digitalization processes appear as a cultural trend that affects all spheres of human life, has a global character and creates fundamentally new forms and means of communication. On the one hand, there is an optimization and improvement of communication interaction, on the other – there is a commercialization of the communication environment, its pragmatism and rationalization. Value/originality. The analysis of digitalization as a cultural trend is carried out and the essence of its influence on communication in modern culture is revealed. Practical implications. The results of the research are an analysis of communication transformations in the conditions of digitalization in integrity and systematization, which, in our opinion, will complement the theoretical developments on this issue, as well as will help to develop the practical solutions to overcome the consequences of these transformations and will help to determine these changes in the future.

The impact of climate on wine production (WP) temporal cycles in Douro (DR) and Vinhos Verdes (VVR) wine regions for a period of about 80 years, characterized by strong technological trend and climate variability, was modelled. The cyclical properties of WP, and which cycles are determined by spring temperature (ST) and soil water during summer (SW), were identified. It was achieved by applying a time-frequency approach, which is based on Kalman filter in the time domain. The time-varying autoregressive model can explain more than 67% (DR) and 95% (VVR) of the WP’ variability and the integration of the ST and mainly SW increase the models’ reliability. The results were then transferred into the frequency domain, and can show that WP in both regions is characterized by two cycles close to 5-6 and 2.5 years around the long run trend. The ST and SW showed great capacity to explain the cyclicality of WP in the studied regions being the coherence temporarily much more stable in VVR than in the DR, where a shift of the relative importance away from ST to SW can be recognized. This could be an indicator of lower impact of the foreseen hot and dry climate scenarios on WP in the regions with a maritime climate, such as the VVR, compared with hot and dry wine regions. Despite the marked differences in the two studied regions on ecological, viticulture practices and technological trend, the modelling approach based on time-frequency proved to be an efficient tool to infer the impact of climate on the dynamics of cyclical properties of regional WP, foreseeing its generalized use in other regions. This modelling approach can be an important tool for planning in the wine industry as well as for mitigation strategies facing the scenarios that combine technological progress and climate change.

As machine-tool construction is considered to be an indicator of mechanical engineering development and progress of this industry can show the development of the country industrial potential, the topic of the article could be of great academic interest. The goal of the article is to study current technological trends of developing machine-tool construction in Russia. The authors provide information about industrial output on the market of machine-tool construction; characterize today’s level of technological, social and economic development in machine-tool construction of the country, identify system problems and specific features of Russian machine-tool construction, such as institutional conditions, home demand, access to technologies, etc. Apart from that the article shows reasons for the low level of innovation activity among manufacturers of machines and equipment, provides information about the latest projects of Russian enterprises of the industry, compares machine-tool construction in different countries, such as China, Japan, Germany, the US and Russia. Priorities of state policy in the field of machine-tool construction in Russia were identified: toguarantee leading positions for Russian companies on home market, ensure technological security. The authors showed priority lines in technological development of machine-tool construction in the Russian Federation for the future, for instance, introduction of product and technological innovation, development of competences in manufacturing competitive spare parts and tools on the territory of the Russian Federation, promotion of organizational innovation in respect of upgrading production automation (roboto-technique and the internet of things). Materials of the article can have practical importance for executives and experts of companies for the developjment of strategies and making reviews and reports and for state bodies to work out recommendations dealing with industrial policy of the Russian Federation.

The article is devoted to the analysis and the choice of the priorities in technology development and, particularly, to the use of patent landscaping as a tool for the study of technology trends. Currently, patent activity indicators are often used for technology foresight and for competitive intelligence as well. Nevertheless, causal relationship between these indicators, on the one hand, and strategic and tactical decisions in the sphere of technological development on meso- and microeconomic level, on the other hand, are not adequately investigated to solve practical tasks. The goal of the work is to systemize the challenges of technology trends analysis, which could be effectively solved on the base of patent landscape analysis. The article analyses the patent landscaping methodology and tools, as well as their use for evaluating the current competitive environment and technology foresight. The authors formulated the generalized classification for the criteria of promising technologies for a selected region. To assess the compliance of a technology with these criteria, we propose a system of corresponding indicators of patenting activity. Using the proposed methodology, we have analysed the patent landscape to select promising technologies for the Sverdlovsk region. The research confirmed the hypothesis of the patent landscapes performance in evaluating such technology indicators as stages of the life cycle stage, universality (applicability in different industries), pace of worldwide development, innovations and science availability in the region and potential possibilities for scientific collaboration with international research institutions and universities. The results of the research may be useful to the wide audience, including representatives small and medium enterprises, large companies and regional authorities for the tasks concerned with the technology trends analysis and technology strategy design

Different from traditional statistical analysis models which focus on the correlation between technical trends in quantity level, text analyzing is now a new approach to extract technological trend from text. Scientometric text mining is widely applied in analytical methods to figure the evolution process of patent and technology. This study is focused on patent documents to predict the future trend of solid material field. Term Frequency (TF) statistics, Word2Vec and t-SNE were adopted in comprehensive analytical methods to measure metrics of patent and reveal the technological development. For patent documents in No. 257 category of United States Patent and Trademark Office, title, abstract and claims from 2005 to 2012 were selected for text mining and analysis. The term frequency of those keywords is firstly counted by year, to extract the annual change of high-frequency keywords. Word2Vec can convert the text to word vectors in a vector space. To better visualize the results and make a relatively reliable prediction, t-SNE is used to reduce the dimension word vectors and scatter them in a two-dimensional map. All these methods in the research are dedicated to present a clearer look at the evolving trend of patents in a field. The systematic analytical methods can be adapted in the analysis of other fields. What is represented in the results reveal the developing trend and the hotspots in process, thereby the future trend can be inferred based on the results. How to carry out an effective and automatic analysis for a technological field based on extensive patent data has always been an interesting and meaningful question. In this paper, we propose a framework to reveal the technology fusion and evolution process of a domain by combining patent claims and citations. First, we consider patent claims as technical elements, based on which the development process of a domain can be studied in a more detailed way. Second, the important technical elements appearing in different periods can be obtained through calculating the importance values. They can reveal the changing process of valuable techniques in various periods from a micro perspective. Third, we propose a method for constructing the technological development main paths of a domain from the perspective of technical details. Fourth, based on the proposed main paths, an approach is raised to explore the fusion and evolution process of a domain through a technological origin and development analysis. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are predicted to be the most dynamic growth sector of the world aerospace market this decade. This technology is swiftly strengthening its presence in multiple fields of human life. In the global aerospace industry, UAVs have become an essential means of securing growth and competitiveness. The investment in UAVs is estimated at billions of dollars in developed countries. However, despite the rapid growth of UAVs, few studies have classified UAV technologies into detailed technologies, or analyzed the technology development trends of UAVs. We used the latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) method of topic modeling and network analysis to analyze the technological trends and technological portfolio of UAVs. The UAV patents were collected from the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service. Analyzing the results shows that the most popular topics are communication technology (34.1%), power supply (19.5%) and navigation system (17.6%). The technological portfolio of a UAV is constituted of three groups: control system, operation system and device. This study is expected to be guidelines for developers and policy-makers on UAVs.

As IoT and AI have recently developed, interest in digital healthcare is increasing. Therefore, this study aims to identify technology trends through a patent analysis on digital healthcare and present future promising areas by analyzing domestic and foreign technology competitiveness and keywords. The detailed technologies to be analyzed were designated as Health Information Measurement Technology, Healthcare Platform Technology and Healthcare Remote Service Technology, and 61,166 patents were analyzed to identify the patent trends of the world's major patent offices and major patent applications. In addition, the analysis of the technological competitiveness of each detailed technology and Korea's technological competitiveness based on its patent activity, the rate of major market securing, and the uses of the patents showed that Korea's technological competitiveness was lower than global technology. In addition, the key keyword analysis showed that the core promising areas of digital healthcare were expected to require a focused strategy for fostering health care platform technologies in Korea. This work evaluated an emerging technological trend in polymer flooding for heavy oil recovery in the near future (i.e., the injection of polymer solution with higher viscosity [concentration] and larger slug size). The rheological properties and flow behavior in porous media of two typical enhanced oil recovery (EOR) polymers (a partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide and a xanthan gum) and a novel hydrophobic polymer were first investigated to identify their potential functionality in displacing heavy oil. Tertiary oil recovery was then conducted by polymer flooding using a heavy oil of 1000 mPa·s. The results indicate that polymer flooding with higher viscosity and larger slug size can significantly improve oil recovery and produced water/oil ratio, which proves the technical and economic feasibility of this trend in oil fields. Xanthan gum exhibits an outstanding flow behavior and EOR performance in sandpack displacement tests compared to other polymers, making it a promising candidate for this trend. Technology analysis is a process which uses textual analysis to detect trends in technological innovation. Co-word analysis (CWA), a popular method for technology analysis, encompasses (1) defining a set of keyword or key phrase patterns which are represented in technology-dependent terms, (2) generating a network that codifies the relations between occurrences of keywords or key phrases, and (3) identifying specific trends from the network. However, defining the set of keyword or key phrase patterns heavily relies on effort of experts, who may be expensive or unavailable. Furthermore defining keyword or key phrase patterns of new or emerging technology areas may be a difficult task even for experts. To solve the limitation in CWA, this research adopts a property-function based approach. The property is a specific characteristic of a product, and is usually described using adjectives; the function is a useful action of a product, and is usually described using verbs. Properties and functions represent the innovation concepts of a system, so they show innovation directions in a given technology. The proposed methodology automatically extracts properties and functions from patents using natural language processing. Using properties and functions as nodes, and co-occurrences as links, an invention property-function network (IPFN) can be generated. Using social network analysis, the methodology analyzes technological implications of indicators in the IPFN. Therefore, without predefining keyword or key phrase patterns, the methodology assists experts to more concentrate on their knowledge services that identify trends in technological innovation from patents. On the basis of the data of the carried out research, the article analyzes the attitude of students of vocational schools towards the possibilities to pass the exams and to continue studies in the higher school choosing technological trend. The evaluation of those possibilities by profession subject teachers is also presented. The research showed that one third (31.3 per cent) of students who graduated from vocational school was going to continue their studies in the higher school, one fifth (20.1 per cent) was not going to study and about a half (48.3 per cent) have not decided what to do. The students of vocational schools evaluate their possibilities to pass the state exams rather reservedly. Only third of them (36.9 per cent) considers it as realistic and almost half (45.3 per cent) hardly believe it could happen. Over half of the surveyed (49.3 per cent) vocational schools' students evaluate the quality of school subjects as sufficient and 12.1 per cent - as high to pass the state exams, 6.1 per cent of students evaluate as insufficient and 0.9 per cent - as low. However, one third of the surveyed do not have clear opinion (it is difficult to say - 31.6 per cent). Almost half of the surveyed vocational schools' students think their possibilities to continue studies in the higher school are realistic - 34.2 per cent, very realistic - 8.1 per cent, unreal - 9.6 per cent and totally unreal - 4 per cent. Almost half of the surveyed do not have clear opinion (it is difficult to say - 43.9 per cent) Almost half of the surveyed profession subject teachers (48 per cent) think that after graduating vocational school students are absolutely ready to continue studies in the higher school but one third of them (33.5 per cent) doubt it.
