This study investigates the impact of ChatGPT usage on academic writing self-efficacy among 148 postgraduate students from Dhar EL Mahraz in Fez and Moulay Smail in Meknes, Morocco. It aims to illuminate the dynamics between ChatGPT usage and self-efficacy in academic writing. The study employed statistical analyses such as independent-sample t-tests and ordinal logistic regressions within a cross-sectional framework to explore the dynamics between ChatGPT use, reliance, and self-efficacy in scholarly writing. Results reveal that ChatGPT users reported higher self-efficacy scores (M=3.96, SD=0.61) compared to non-users (M=3.44, SD=1.38), suggesting the potential of ChatGPT in enhancing writing self-efficacy by providing continuous feedback and fostering a sense of accomplishment. Further analyses indicate that writing self-efficacy significantly predicts the duration of ChatGPT usage (Estimate = .692, p = .011), suggesting a positive correlation between self-efficacy and prolonged ChatGPT engagement. Furthermore, the frequency of ChatGPT use was found to predict reliance on the tool (β = .619, p < .001), underscoring a habituation effect. These findings contribute to the growing discourse on the role of AI in academic writing, emphasizing the benefits of ChatGPT in fostering writing self-efficacy while cautioning against over-reliance. Recommendations include longitudinal studies to assess the evolution of writing self-efficacy with continued ChatGPT use and broader research encompassing various AI tools and academic levels. This study sheds light on the advantages of AI in education and draws attention to the need for a balanced integration of technology in academic practices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Artificial intelligence is a technology that has a superior ability to learn, develop, and the ability to make appropriate decisions. It has the ability to deal with situations and develop appropriate solutions to them, and the ability to sweep the field of providing legal services such as consultations that were traditionally provided through a lawyer or a legal consulting office. Today, because of these technologies, legal advice is provided by default by a smart legal consultant. We have adopted a comparative analytical approach by defining the concept of this technology, indicating the position of legislation, as well as reviewing judicial developments in order to assess the final position of the smart legal consulting system. One of the results of the study of smart legal advice is the difficulty of providing it without human intervention because the first is a mental product, so the traditional legal adviser is indispensable, especially in thorny legal matters that need explanation and explanation. As for liability within the scope of artificial intelligence technologies, everyone agrees on the existence of liability and compensation, but the dispute revolves around the basis of that liability and the extent to which those technologies have the legal personality to claim responsibility

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a conceptual framework of the relationship between technological transitions and hegemonic transitions in the international system from a historical perspective and discuss its consequences for technologically dependent countries and regions. Design/methodology/approach – This paper analyzes the relationship between technological transitions and hegemonic transitions in the international system from a historical perspective. It then constructs four possible transition scenarios for China's international order and the USA's central role in defining the international order. IT closes with a discussion of how changes in ICT and global health public goods can impact China's position in the international order and opportunities for Latin America–China technology partnerships. Findings – Historically, technological transitions and hegemonic transitions in the international system simultaneously occur, with the country winning the technological dispute emerging as the international system's hegemon. The USA and China are currently involved in technological races in several next-generation technologies. The outcome of these technological races will define each country's position in the international system in the coming decades and the transformations in the international order. Research limitations/implications – This paper is limited to discussing the technologies/sectors: ICT, specifically 5G, and AI technologies, and medical technologies with the potential of global public health goods. Research on other technologies/sectors will provide a deeper understanding of the likely outcomes of the current technological transition and its implications for the balance of power in the international system. Practical implications – This paper makes a case for Latin American countries to (1) engage in a pragmatic bargain with China and the USA to establish technological partnerships in emerging technologies and (2) to develop national technology strategies aimed at promoting autonomous technology development capabilities. Social implications – This paper addresses the need for Latin America to take a strong stance for technological autonomy, stressing the differences in buying technology and making technology. Originality/value – This paper presents an original framework of the relationship between technological transitions and hegemonic transitions in the international system. It discusses how technological leadership impacts the international order by establishing relations of technological dominance and technological dependency.

The article analyses various tendencies in the development of the English-speaking song discourse, that have revealed themselves in the course of the previous 50 years. The aim of the research is to identify these tendencies and to determine the reasons of their emergence. The goals of this research were to trace the evolution of this type of discourse by way of analysing a vast corpus of song lyrics and to identify the factors that had influenced the changes that followed. The focus of our attention was mainly on rock song lyrics due to their obvious non-commercial nature. The results of the research allow us to state that in the course of evolution of the English-speaking song discourse such tendency as a tendency to simplification/sophistication manifested itself persistently. Moreover, both vectors either replaced one another or developed simultaneously. Besides, a tendency to melodicism, related to the abovementioned one, also revealed itself. We should also mention a tendency to commercialisation, typical of mass culture in general. Another one is a tendency to technological dependency, mainly of synthesizers and computers. Among the most influential tendencies we can name a tendency to visualisation, which actually brings the song discourse close to cinematographic discourse.

VALUE (Economics) , *MODERNITY , *SOCIOLOGY , *SUCCESS ,DEVELOPED countries - Abstract
Ivan da Costa Marques became aware of Brazil's technological dependence through research experience abroad. And through research within the country, based on an autonomous approach to modernity for Brazil, he discovered that the reserves of the minicomputer market could be a vanishing point from technological dependence. With his reflection on how the success of this escape line became a failure, Costa Marques realized that disciplinary explanations from engineering, economics, or even sociology, always had implicit assumptions and value choices that reinforced the view of the so-called developed countries. Thus, the study of the limitations of this vanishing point led to Science, Technology and Society Studies that situated them as a powerful tool for overcoming coloniality in the peripheries of the West. In recent years, systemic and society-changing technological innovations (Deep Tech or DT innovations) have emerged primarily in the USA and Asia, while Europe is technologically dependent in many application fields. The development of DT is characterised by high financial capital needs. Additionally, intellectual property (IP) management plays a major role. To reduce the technological dependency for many areas in Europe, an adjustment of the government’s role as an actor in the innovation system appears beneficial. Targeted measures can improve the development and transfer of DT and, thus, contribute to securing long-term competitiveness of European nations. The aim of this contribution is therefore to identify support options within the technology transfer of DT innovations by conducting a structured literature analysis. In total, 27 applicable options are identified and structured into derived fields of action within innovation systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This study attempts to shed light on one of the most important challenges that developing countries face in order to move forward in building their national economies and prove their presence on the international scene, which is their lack of appropriate technology that qualifies them to build a strong, non-dependent economy. This is mainly due to the absence of a development strategy that values the human element and national executives qualified to lead the development process in those countries, and this is what has been projected on the Algerian economy in some indicators.

- Abstract
Many discussions on South Korean industrialization focus on the roles of government, large corporations, and labor, while treating technological innovation as a black box. This paper traces the genealogy of previous studies on technological development in Korea. Based on an appraisal of their merits, I will make some suggestions for future work. The focus of previous studies has changed from technological dependency to the development of technological capabilities. In addition, they have considered the stages, types, and characteristics of technological development in Korea. Despite their contributions, the historical facts surrounding the issue have not been sufficiently considered, leading to some limitations in the areas covered and levels of analyses. This paper suggests a more comprehensive technological innovation model, which will help capture the uneven technological development in Korean industries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of technology brought about some advantages as well as particular disadvantages. Smart phones which are new generation mobile devices are technological tools for meeting certain needs such as entertainment, social media, realization of daily routines and usage for educational purposes. The facts that new generation mobile devices can realize many transactions and provide solutions for individuals' needs immediately, arise the continuous interaction of individuals with mobile devices and thus, technological dependency. It is important to determine the usage of mobile technology by instructors who own a particular role in ICT integration process. The habitudes which instructors gained before their professional lives affect their careers. Therefore it is important to determine their usage of new generation mobile technologies in order to earn them the correct habitudes. The aim of this study is to determine the prospective instructors' usages of smart phones who receive education in different branches of faculty of education in terms of various variables. Research group consists of 217 prospective instructors who are studying in different branches at Necmettin Erbakan University. As data collection tool of the study; "personal information form" and "Smart Phone Dependency Scale" were used. The scale is 6-point Likert-type scale. It consists of 33 items. The Cronbach alfa (a) internal consistency coefficient of Smart Phone Dependency Scale is found 0.947. SPSS package program is used in order to analyze the data collected by data collection tools. Descriptive statistics, t-test for independent samples and analysis of variance are used for the analysis of data. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Even though technological advances have occurred during recent decades today's nutrient loading from Swedish on-site sewage systems (OSSs) is much higher than in the 1940s, despite a decreased rural population and the existence of potentially far better technologies than the existing inadequate installations. The objective of this paper is first, to explain this situation as the result of co-evolution of technology and institutions, which has resulted in a very stable conservation. Second, to properly understand how such stable configurations may change, the paper investigates how a power-distributional theory of incremental institutional change might complement the previous analysis and open up the thinking about how seemingly stable configurations may change endogenously. The analysis reveals how shifts in the distribution of power, i.e., public and private actors' resources and tools to use in interaction with other actors, have influenced the direction of technological and institutional development. We conclude that the sequencing of events has been important; the series of choices made foremost between the 1950s and 1990s caused both institutional and technical lock-in effects that have been increasingly difficult to break out from. Despite parallel and later incremental developments, improvement in the environmental outcome is not yet seen on the large scale. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Technological dependency is defined as a short or long-term reliance on machines and techniques to evaluate, satisfy or resolve health problems. In nursing technological dependency has been explored in the context of caring. Hitherto it has been maintained that technology and caring are contradictory, but a more prominent view is that technology and caring can and must be reconciled to provide high-quality care. This study describes patients’ and families’ experience of long-term home treatment with noninvasive ventilation during sleep with or without additional oxygen therapy. Considering the potential burden of undergoing this treatment the research question is: What is patients’ and families’ experience of being dependent on technical breathing assistance during sleep? The methodological approach draws from interpretive phenomenology and narrative analysis. Participants were six patients aged 45–70, five spouses and one daughter. Data, generated through two 1-hour semi-structured interviews with each pair of participants, were analysed into themes. Results are presented by the following narratives: (i) mixed blessing: life-saving treatment – meaningless exertion; (ii) compassion and understanding central amid use of complex machines; (iii) listening to the body; (iv) wanting to be seen as healthy; (v) dominance of technological thinking; and (vi) sustained work in maintaining the treatment. It is concluded that being dependent on technical breathing assistance during sleep, with or without oxygen, was a major life event for participants. The treatment was experienced as constraining and intrusive, particularly at the beginning, but concurrently it dramatically relieved difficulties for most participants. Regardless of its usefulness it provoked questions on purpose, indicating that the way to implement the treatment is crucial. Professionals need to pay close attention to how they introduce noninvasive ventilation technique, putting caring concern and respect for unique needs of patients and their families at the forefront. This Ph.D. thesis is composed of three essays and is aimed to reconstruct, both conceptually and analytically, the Argentine political economy for the period from 1955 to 1991. To this aim, we apply theoretical elements rooted in the Sraffian-Keynesian tradition of thought, such as the extension of Sraffa?s representation based on "Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities" to the price-taking economy framework, the Monetary Theory of Distribution and the demand-led growth model based on Sraffian Supermultiplier. However, unlike some recent reconstructions of Latin American specificities through the lens of the Classical tradition, we provide a formal representation of the Argentine historical experience that abandons the canonical dichotomy between agricultural and industrial sectors in modeling semi-industrialized economies. To account for the different stages of industrialization during the fifties and sixties we include a distinction between manufactured goods for final consumptions and capital goods. Likewise, the inclusion of banks and the financial sector becomes relevant to address financial liberalization and capital-account deregulation during the seventies and eighties. An intrinsic non-tradable sector, associated with public services, turns to be relevant to capture the consequences of privatization during the nineties. The suggested models take into consideration the heterogeneities among productive sectors, as the natural outcome of the structural changes observed during the period under study. The 1st essay presents a comprehensive analysis regarding some contributions made by the political theorist Guillermo O?Donnell, which revolve around the notions of the Argentine Pendulum, Bureaucratic-Authoritarian State, and their implications on income distribution and output dynamics. Under the basis of a tripartite productive structure, O?Donnell?s pendulum is formally reconstructed as the ambivalent behavior of the international bourgeoisie with respect to its strategy of the class alliance for the determination of both economic policies and the pattern of development. The 2nd essay analytically re-elaborates the change undergone by the Argentine economy during the 1970s and 1980s, from a strategy of import-substituting industrialization led by a labor-based government (1973-1976) to a pattern of development based on market liberalization and implemented by a Dictatorial Regimen (1976-1983). By applying Sraffa?s representation of the productive process, the Monetary Theory of distribution and the extension of the Keynesian Principle of Effective Demand in explaining the growth path, such structural changes are analyzed and modelized. The suggested formal representation accounts for the capital goods-producing industry, the financial sector and an intrinsic non-tradable sector as distinctive elements of the Argentine productive structure of the period considered. The essay analytically re-elaborates the distributive changes and the structural consequences of the economic policies implemented by the so-called National Reorganisation Process, both in the pattern of specialization and in the financial dependence of Argentina. Finally, the 3rd essay revisits the cost-pushed theories of inflation to reconstruct the dynamics observed in prices and income distribution. The suggested model stresses the role played by the exchange rate and crawling-peg policy in approaching the high inflation and hyperinflationary experiences during the eighties external-debt crisis. Additionally, the multiple stabilizing programs are analyzed and formally reconstructed in the light of the Classical-Keynesian Approach, highlighting the importance of the exchange rate and external determinants in stabilizing price dynamics. In this sense, the Convertibility Regime, during the nineties, is analyzed as a strategy to control the price dynamic by reinforcing the financial dependence of the Argentine economy.

[EN] In this paper we reflect about the practices of use of technologies, considering the specific case of mobile phones, in particular, so called smartphones. We consider such practices as part of the socio-technological discourses through which groups and individuals establish their relationship with technology. Assuming that technology is not neutral but incorporates and carry the discourses of actors and current technological powers, such a relationship configures a relationship between the two discourses, and is expressed in use practices that can lead to technological appropriation or to technological dependency. We will explain the difference between them, stressing the importance of what we call non-use practices of technology, and we will enunciate the three explanatory fallacies about the current use of technologies, which are present in the negotiations between the aforementioned discourses., [ES] En este artículo reflexionamos acerca de las prácticas de uso de las tecnologías, atendiendo al caso particular de los teléfonos móviles, en sus formatos “básico” y, de manera especial, los denominados “inteligentes” (smartphones). The diffusion of technology revolution around the world (especially since the 70s) provided a world production restructuring, which contributed to the consolidation of a new flexible capitalist accumulation regime – promoting not only the spread of information, but also facilitating decision-making, trade and financial exchanges globally. However, this context also contributed to enhancing the differences between countries arising from the periphery and those coming from the center, where industrialization was more advanced and therefore, the best comparative and competitive advantages in science, technology and innovation (ST&I) were held. This situation highlighted the dependent character of Latin America that contributed to the generation of backwardness in Latin American economies, issue raised in this study from the perspective of late industrialization, in order to know the paths that led to establishment of this specific pattern of development. Thus, the economic formation of Brazil, as a country of peripheral origin in the capitalist world-system, contributed to a late industrialization process, which reinforced its deficient character on internal production of technology. Among other factors, this scenario led to a situation of technological dependency that resulted in the constitution of the historical deficit of Brazilian balance of payments services account, since after global economic re-articulation of the 70s and intensification of globalization phenomenon in the 90s, the production of goods has become gradually more intensive in services – which turned out to increase relevance of this sector flows in world trade. Therefore, the present study has as general objective to understand the implications of the Brazilian economy formation and its resulting technological dependency, on Brazilian services account deficit, taking into consideration structural issues that influence its current dynamic. To this end, besides relying on the use of a historical-descriptive methodology with a view to understanding the structural process that culminated in the current deficit frame of Brazilian services account, this research also involves the analysis of information obtained through consultation in international organizations and Brazilian government databases, seeking the construction of a situational diagnosis concerning Brazil in international trade in services – as well as the composition of its services account deficit. Thus, this paper concluded that Brazilian services account deficit, especially with regard to technological services, reflects structural bottlenecks in Brazil and highlights the need for a joint effort of industry and State in favor of country development in ST&I, in order to reduce the technological dependency present in this economy and that ultimately affect not only the services account, but also other external accounts.

This paper includes a reflection about issue of technology transfer between countries, supported by writings made by the main authors internationally. This reflection is because of the need for countries to underdeveloped or developing countries have in their industry to be competitive in the international hostile market. Technological transfer is undoubtedly a necessity in terms of socio-economic development is through the sharing of technology between countries, it is possible to improve productivity in the industrial sector, opening the field to participate in the international market, with products and high quality services at competitive prices, achieved through increased production efficiency is achieved technologically industrialized, well earned, for greater productivity and profit. Also, this paper discussed the possibilities of an underdeveloped or developing country to fall into the so-called developing technology dependence, which causes a number of problems which will be discussed throughout the document. On the other hand, it is shown the way to Asiatic region grown up talking about exportations.

[EN] In this paper we propose an approach to the notion of technological appropriation through a discursive elaboration raised beyond use of technology by a social group. We consider technological appropriation as a relationship based on the articulation of practices, representations and values, expressing the group discourse on technology. This relationship implies a more precise description of its use, in terms of meaningful use, leading to regard non-use of technology as a relevant practice, and to emphasize the relationship between use and non-use in technological appropriation. The characterization we make regarding the meaningful use of technology, by means of factors of technological appropriation, shows that not all kind of use of technology is meaningful or should contribute to its appropriation.
