To date, no widely used, scientifically validated instruments designed for assessing secondary education students' teamwork skills exist. As CATME‐B shows promising results and might suit secondary education's needs best, this study offers an initial investigation on (1) how students and teachers perceive the use of CATME‐B in secondary education to assess students' teamwork skills and (2) whether CATME‐B is effective in detecting changes in students' perceived teamwork skills when a group assignment is introduced. A mixed‐methods in‐depth approach with a smaller group of 79 students (surveys before and after a group assignment) and three teachers (semi‐structured interviews) was adopted, offering a multi‐actor perspective. Results revealed that students perceived CATME‐B as feasible to use for self‐ and peer‐assessment. Although teachers were more focused on practical impediments, they appreciated its content and offered valuable suggestions for using CATME‐B in secondary education. Despite the growing recognition of the value of interdisciplinary learning in doctoral education, there is still a gap in the literature supporting the relationship between it and doctoral students' scientific creativity in China. Based on a questionnaire survey of 457 doctoral students from the humanities and social sciences on the Chinese Mainland, this study adopted structural equation modeling to examine the relationships among interdisciplinary learning, teamwork skills, collaborative behaviors, and scientific creativity. The results indicated that there was a weak positive correlation between interdisciplinary learning and the scientific creativity of doctoral students. Teamwork skills mediated the relationship between interdisciplinary learning and creativity, while the mediating effect of collaborative behaviors did not hold. The main thrust of the study was to find out the mediating effect of teaching effectiveness on the relationship between teamwork skills and the work values of teachers in public schools. This study employed a non-experimental quantitative design utilizing the descriptive correlation technique. This study was conducted in Alabel 3 District, Division of Sarangani for the school year 2022-2023. Based on the results, the level of teaching effectiveness was high in terms of content knowledge and pedagogy, learning environment, curriculum and planning, assessment and reporting, and personal growth and professional development, while neither agree nor disagree. In terms of plus factors. The level of teamwork skills was high in terms of communication, time management, problem-solving, listening, critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership. The extent of the work values of teachers was observed all the time in terms of strong work ethics, responsibility, integrity, honesty, reliability, adaptability, accountability, and self-motivation. There was a significant relationship between teamwork skills and work values, teamwork skills and teaching effectiveness, and teaching effectiveness and work values. The purpose of the present study is to examine the influence of a principal's leadership style on the teachers' teamwork and to recommend principal's management strategies to increase teachers' teamwork. The research population is from The Triangle, a concentration of Israeli Arab towns and 352 teachers participated in the study, of which 275 were women (78.1%) and 77 were men (21.9%), most of them in the age range of 35-55. The teachers teach in middle schools and high schools. The study findings showed that there are positive relationships of moderate and significant correlations between all the school principals’ leadership style and the teamwork skills of teachers. While high levels of leadership (transformative, transactional and laissez-faire) the teachers reported about their school principal, were associated with high levels of teamwork skills of the teaching staff. In addition, it was found that the correlation between transformative leadership and teamwork skills is slightly lower than the correlation between transactional or laissez-faire leadership and teamwork skills, due to the Arab traditional culture.

Abstract Background The Stop the Bleed (STB) training program was launched by the White House to minimize hemorrhagic deaths. Few studies focused on the STB were reported outside the United States. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a problem-, team- and evidence-based learning (PTEBL) approach to teaching, compared to traditional teaching methods currently employed in STB courses in China. Methods This study was a parallel group, unmasked, randomised controlled trial. We included third-year medical students of a five-year training program from the Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University who voluntarily participated in the trial. One hundred fifty-three medical students were randomized (1:1) into the PTEBL group (n = 77) or traditional group (n = 76). Every group was led by a single instructor. The instructor in the PTEBL group has experienced in educational reform. However, the instructor in the traditional group follows a traditional teaching mode. The teaching courses for both student groups had the same duration of four hours. Questionnaires were conducted to assess teaching quality before and after the course. The trial was registered in the Central South University (No. 2021JY188). Results In the PTEBL group, students reported mastery in three fundamental STB skills—Direct Finger Compression (61/77, 79.2%), Packing (72/77, 93.8%), and Tourniquet Placement (71/77, 92.2%) respectively, while 76.3% (58/76), 89.5% (68/76), and 88.2% (67/76) of students in the traditional group (P > 0.05 for each pairwise comparison). 96.1% (74/77) of students in the PTEBL group felt prepared to help in an emergency, while 90.8% (69/76) of students in the traditional group (P > 0.05). 94.8% (73/77) of students reported improved teamwork skills after the PTEBL course, in contrast with 81.6% (62/76) of students in the traditional course (P = 0.011). This systematic literature review forms the first part of a larger research project into teamwork skills development and aims to answer the following research question: What factors have been found to be significant to the development of teamwork skills in tertiary engineering courses? This was limited to tertiary engineering contexts and 59 papers were included in the final qualitative synthesis published between 2015 and 2022. Factors that were identified included planning, management, team-based factors, individual factors, project factors and time dependent factors that, through their dynamic interrelations, all contribute to what we conceive as teamwork skills development. Future research must focus on rich, nuanced and inclusive understandings of students at the individual level as well as the team level. To address modern challenges, engineering graduates must develop strong transversal skills related to teamwork, this review provides researchers and educators with a roadmap to advancing the body of teamwork research as well as developing the teamwork skills of engineering students. Teamwork skills have been demonstrated to be excellent allies for the academic and professional sphere, and they can improve students' psychological balance and self-esteem. For this reason, it is important to explore the relationship between teamwork skills and self-esteem. Considering the relevance of soft skills and self-esteem in university training, the main objective of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between teamwork skills and the successful development of self-esteem, a fundamental emotional factor in education. Additionally, we will analyse how self-esteem is related to other socio-academic factors (age, sex, and GPA). A questionnaire was distributed to social science university students. The Rosenberg 10-item scale, which aims to measure feelings of personal worth and self-respect, has been used to determine self-esteem. To measure soft skills for teamwork, we chose the Teamwork Skills Questionnaire, which evaluates the skill level of an individual in order to participate effectively in teamwork. The regression model indicates that self-esteem predictors related to teamwork skills are decision making, leadership, and communication. The results suggest significant differences in some individual variables, such as sex and age, with lower self-esteem being observed in females and older students. The described enriching interactions suggest the need to integrate teamwork training and self-esteem fostering at university to offer students lifelong competencies for their future success. Employers agree that high school graduates lack teamwork skills needed for workplace productivity. The lag in student readiness to meet employer expectations urges school reforms that implicate group interaction, empirical assessment, and reporting of teamwork competencies. The Teamwork Skills Inventory (TSI) evaluated how well individual students performed in cooperative learning teams as observed by peers and self with anonymous feedback. Field-testing involved 303 high school students in the United States from middle class and racially diverse families. Teamwork skills are considered essential for personal, academic and professional achievement, so universities are increasingly integrating them into their syllabuses. Within this context, teamwork skills have been gaining close attention, as they are considered essential competencies in an increasingly more globalised, dynamic and complex world. New employees are asked if they have teamwork skills, can resolve specific work issues or have the required skills to handle the new challenges posed by today’s society. In this study, we aimed to investigate the differences between students regarding their demographic characteristics (age category, education level) according to the level of development of their teamwork skills. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the different categories of students and the level of development of teamwork skills. It is important that teamwork skills are developed from the years of undergraduate studies. Both in our sample, but also in other studies from the literature, these students obtain low scores for this competence.These results can be used to create training programs for teachers and students in the development of teamwork skills.

AbstractAlthough teamwork skills are imperative for students’ future success in the workplace, teamwork in academic settings does not always provide students with the necessary teamwork competencies. The current study used action research principles to design and implement a teamwork competency training intervention featuring cycles of reflection and addressing previous shortcomings through action plans. Undergraduate college students (n = 108) in teams of 3–5 completed five team-based projects. After each project, teams provided individual and team reflections, ratings of team members’ contributions, perceived ratings of team performance, and action plans for the next project. Using qualitative analysis, we identified the most common themes in students’ reflections and action plans, explored changes in those themes across the five projects, and related those themes to the teams’ perceived performance. Current findings provide evidence that implementation of action research processes in academic teamwork may advance students’ teamwork competency in planning, time management, equal contributions, interpersonal skills, and team cohesion. We conclude that instructors may utilize these strategies to address issues in student teamwork and provide a structure to support the development of students’ teamwork skills. Teamwork skills are commonly evaluated by human assessors, which can be logistically challenging and resource intensive. Technological advancements provide an opportunity for a new assessment method – virtual behavioural simulations with self-scoring algorithms. This study explores whether a rule-based algorithm can match human assessors at evaluating teamwork skills. 206 undergraduate students completed a virtual simulation assessment, where they interacted with "teammates" (represented by chatbots) using natural language. In this study, students' teamwork skills were assessed independently by a computer algorithm and two human experts based on the transcripts of their conversations with "teammates" (chatbots). The relative accuracy of these assessments was evaluated against peer- and self-evaluations of teamwork. The assessment scores generated by the algorithm and human experts were highly correlated with each other and were comparable in their ability to predict teamwork. The scores generated by the algorithm were slightly more correlated with peer-evaluations than those generated by human experts (r =.25 and r =.17, respectively; p =.21). The results indicate that AI-based techniques offer a promising method of skill assessment to support learning and acquisition teamwork skills. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study investigates the impact of engaging accounting students in a team-teaching role on their knowledge and competency development in a higher education setting. The research quantifies the knowledge gains from this learning-by-team-teaching intervention and explores students' experiences with this intervention through survey data. The findings suggest that engaging students in a team-teaching role, specifically a sequential equal-status team-teaching role incorporating interactive teaching styles, significantly enhances knowledge development, particularly among lower-performing students. Students reported a largely positive experience across all performance levels, attributing their growth to improved knowledge, teamwork, and communication skills provided by the intervention. The study recognizes the benefits derived from the team-based design of the intervention, such as enhanced social constructivist knowledge development. Overall, this study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on learning-by-teaching strategies. The ability to work effectively in a diverse team is a valuable skill which is transferable to many contexts. As such, it is important to build this skill through deliberate, targeted, and meaningful learning activities in higher education. The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) model enhances team diversity by combining students from different disciplines and years of study to work together on a research project within the curriculum. Additionally, VIP provides the option to remain on the project for an extended period over several semesters and gain team leadership experience. Our research investigates the recent implementation of VIP at the University of St Andrews. Using a survey of student perceptions and analysis of student reflective writing, this case study reports evidence that the VIP model adds value to the development of teamwork skills. Teamwork skills are important professional competencies; teaching them can be challenging in online nursing education. To describe the implementation of a three-stage model for successful group processes in an asynchronous online course and evaluate its effectiveness. The three-stage model for group work was used to identify students' needs and concerns, and adaptations to the model were made to reflect specifics of the online environment. Prior to the beginning of the course, the faculty created guidelines and instructions for a group project, recorded a video explaining the benefits of group work, and provided a variety of resources. Faculty monitored and supported online group processes through all stages of group work. At the end of the course, 135 students completed an evaluation survey. Student responses were aggregated by frequent comments. Most students described their group work experience as positive and enjoyable. Students reported learning a wide range of teamwork skills. All students recognized that group work skills are directly applicable to their future nursing practice. It is possible to make online group projects successful and gratifying for students with appropriate evidence-based course design and carefully planned facilitation of group processes. • Challenges with online group work can be overcome by utilizing a three-stage group work model with appropriate adaptations. • Careful group project design and faculty facilitation ensured successful outcomes and a positive experience for students. • Students reported learning a variety of teamwork skills and recognized their importance for future nursing practice. Accordingly, this study aims to fill this gap and describe higher education students’ mastery of teamwork skills and its relation to certain socio-academic variables (gender, academic year and grade point average—GPA). With the aim of determining the level of teamwork skills among university students, an observational, transversal descriptive study was designed with an intentional sample of Spanish university students. The sample is made up of 615 social science degree students. The results suggest significant gender differences, highlighting that female students outdid their male counterparts in most teamwork skills, except leadership. Likewise, students’ skills improved as they progressed in their studies, particularly those skills related to adaptability and decision-making. Finally, a positive relationship was observed between teamwork skills and GPA, except for interpersonal development. A regression analysis confirmed the influence of both academic year and GPA for women whilst no effect was detected in the case of men. Based on these results, it is suggested to make changes in university education programmes to compensate for the influence of socio-academic factors and benefit from the most positive features of each gender regarding teamwork to achieve an equal and fair higher education.

Although research and pronouncements have identified the increased relevance of ‘soft’ skills for future professionals in accounting, graduates continue to exhibit deficiencies in those skills. Employers and practitioners emphasize that the dynamic business environment requires more than just technical knowledge; excellent teamwork, communication and analytical skills are also of paramount importance. Despite numerous attempts to improve teamwork skills there is evidence that the responses to the acknowledged deficiencies have not been successful and there is a lack of understanding about the constraints that could hinder the skills development. Some results point to anxiety towards communication as a reason for the unwillingness to interact in group situations and therefore as a constraint for skills development, although the connection between communication apprehension and development of teamwork skills has not been investigated. Therefore, the present study examines the relationships between communication apprehension and communication self-efficacy and teamwork skills self-efficacy, in order to understand to what extent communication apprehension influences self-efficacy beliefs and forms a potential barrier. Our results indicate a negative influence of communication apprehension on teamwork self-efficacy, both direct and mediated by communication self-efficacy; whereas there is a relevant positive association between self-efficacy beliefs. This pattern of relationships provides relevant insights about how the constraints could be alleviated, which that are discussed in the paper.

Aim: This study investigates the impact of using escape rooms as a gamification evaluation tool on nursing students' clinical reasoning and teamwork skills., Background: Escape rooms, originating in Japan in 2007, are team-based live-action games requiring participants to solve puzzles within a time limit. They develop essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, logic, creativity, critical thinking, communication and problem-solving. Educational escape rooms' focuses on learning goals connected to curricula and are tailored to specific student groups., Design: Pretest and posttest quasi-experimental study with a study and control groups were conducted., Methods: The study involved 160 fourth-year nursing students, divided into study (80) and control (80) groups over four months, from October 2023 to the end of January 2024, in the XXX, XXXX nursing college. The tools used included the Teamwork Skills Questionnaire, the Nurses Clinical Reasoning Scale and a socio-demographic and academic data questionnaire., Results: The study group showed significant improvements in clinical reasoning and teamwork skills post-intervention. Positive correlations between clinical reasoning and teamwork skills indicated that the escape room experience has a significant impact on students' critical thinking and collaborative abilities., Conclusion: Escape rooms are effective educational tools for enhancing nursing students' clinical reasoning and teamwork skills, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The objective of this study is to explore the potential of a new method for assessing teamwork skills—a virtual high‐fidelity behavioral simulation. In this paper, we describe the development and validation of a chatbot‐driven simulation for assessing teamwork skills of university students. We present the results of a criterion validation study using a sample of 215 undergraduate students. The simulation was found to significantly predict peer ratings following a live team‐based exercise, over and above a teamwork situational judgment test, and a personality inventory. The mean score for women on the simulation was significantly higher than for men. Limitations and future directions are discussed. Physics teachers need to mastery TPACK and teamwork skills because they were essential in work. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between TPACK mastery and teamwork skills. The research method used a causal-comparative. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 33 preservice physics teachers from Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa and Universitas Mulawarman. The data collection method used a questionnaire and an instrument in the form of a questionnaire with a Likert scale in a web-based survey. This instrument is used to measure TPACK and teamwork skills. Data analysis techniques used Pearson's correlation and regression analysis. The results showed no significant relationship between mastery of TPACK and teamwork skills, as indicated by Pearson’s correlation value of 0.061 with a significance of 0.735. However, if further tested based on every aspect of the two variables, there is a significant correlation between technology knowledge (TK), technology content knowledge (TCK) on the mastery of TPACK, and communication aspects on teamwork skills. Based on the regression test, the result obtained more than 90%, the communication aspect of teamwork skills influenced by TK and TCK. This paper presents the successful integration of teamwork process controls into a group project. The project was assigned in an undergraduate auditing course at an AACSB-accredited university. The subject of the assignment was a case study from the Ernst and Young Foundation Academic Resource Center. An online teamwork assessment tool from Capsim Management Simulations, Inc., was used for team performance feedback and confidential peer evaluations. Both the case-study work and the assessments were completed in two stages. This approach afforded teams and team members an opportunity to improve their case-study work and team performance before final grading. The quality of the case-study work increased significantly. The team and peer assessment scores were positive throughout and improved during the assignment, despite an increase in team conflict. There are hardly any instruments to measure teamwork behaviors from an individual approach. This applies both in interprofessional teams or not, and in teams involved in health, social care, and other areas. The Individual Behavior Analysis (IBA) scale measures efficacious behavior in work teams. It is one of the few instruments proposed in the literature to measure personal skills necessary for teamwork. Only a previous exploratory analysis of the scale was informed in another study. This article analyzes its internal structure using different confirmatory factor analyses and its internal consistency, with a sample of 815 employees working for Spanish social organizations in the geriatric field, both private and public. The results of the definitive version adapted to Spanish, referred to as Individual Behavior Analysis −25, indicate a good fit of the model to the data and good reliability. Factor analysis confirmed the existence of two factors: Communication skills and Acceptance, with good internal consistency coefficients. This study aimed to recognize the Relation of Soft Skills with forming the Intellectual Capital of the employees in Textiles Sector, the study concluded with many findings, such as: the soft skills which have been used by Allodium Textile Factory employees are; communications, problems solving and decisions taking besides teamwork skills, moreover, the employees have gained the work experiences of their colleagues to achieve their tasks properly, the study come out with various recommendations such as: It is so necessary to cover all sections and the units of the Factory with communications media for linking them with each other and to motivate the employees to achieve their tasks on time, furthermore, all employees should bear work faults with full responsibility when occur and to avoid blaming any member among the teamwork. In practical courses, students consider teachers’ assessment of various skills to be baseless and unfair. Unfortunately, due to a lack of equipment, only a few students take part in practical skills performance, while the rest of the students remain passive in learning and assessment. In this paper we suggest an original design to use peer assessment as an interactive strategy and examine its efficiency to improve students’ individual skills, teamwork skills and practical performance in an educational technology course. In the study reported on here, a quasi-experimental design was used, which included a sample of 73 female students divided into experimental and control groups. The treatment tools were provided to the experimental group while the assessment tools were applied to both groups before and after the intervention. Data analysis revealed that an interactive peer assessment strategy was effective in improving individual skills, teamwork skills and practical performance. We recommend that this suggested strategy is used widely in practical courses.

Project-based learning as a principle of the educational process that is being implemented at the universities has a long history. The model of Aalborg University (Denmark) which was created in 1974 to change the traditional approach to teaching students in higher educational institutions of the country is the basic (archetypal) model of project-based learning. The School of Economics and Management of the Far Eastern Federal University is currently implementing its own model of project-based learning (SEM model). This model is developed on the basis of design thinking, which is a methodology for solving ill-structured problems in the face of uncertainty. The implementation of design thinking in the educational process should promote the development of creativity and critical thinking competencies among students, and the organization of project work should contribute to the development of communication skills necessary for interaction with internal and external stakeholders as well as teamwork skills. The purpose of the article is to compare this model with the base model of Aalborg university, to identify the general and the special features of both of these models, to outline prospects for the further development of the SEM model. Thesis: the experience gained at the SEM over the three years of the learning implementation provides an opportunity to create its own systemic model of project-based learning and to recommend its implementation in the other Russian universities.

There are hardly any instruments to measure teamwork behaviors from an individual approach. This applies both in interprofessional teams or not, and in teams involved in health, social care, and other areas. The Individual Behavior Analysis (IBA) scale measures efficacious behavior in work teams. It is one of the few instruments proposed in the literature to measure personal skills necessary for teamwork. Only a previous exploratory analysis of the scale was informed in another study. This article analyzes its internal structure using different confirmatory factor analyses and its internal consistency, with a sample of 815 employees working for Spanish social organizations in the geriatric field, both private and public. The results of the definitive version adapted to Spanish, referred to as Individual Behavior Analysis −25, indicate a good fit of the model to the data and good reliability. Factor analysis confirmed the existence of two factors: Communication skills and Acceptance, with good internal consistency coefficients. This scale is a useful instrument for assessing, based on the reviewed literature, two of the most important individual skills an efficacious team should have.

Employability can be an alternative solution to increase individual chances of getting a job. The study aims to identify indicators that can measure students' employability skills and attributes. The research model, based on The Conference Board of Canada (Employability Skills 2000+), is divided into fundamental skills, personal management skills, and cooperative skills. The method used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with primary data obtained from surveys of students through a questionnaire will be analyzed using the AMOS program. These samples included 528 respondents who had done the work practices of the industry. The research respondents were students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Makassar, divided into several majors. The results of the study identified that the low value of communication indicators in the variable of fundamental skills compared to other indicators was due to the lack of foreign language communication activities in the learning process. Communication is a vital aspect possessed by students, especially in global level competition. The study results were used to measure educational institutions to develop and improve low work skills indicators so that new graduates will better be prepared for work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Upgrading positive character of the students can be applied in physical education and sport. This study aims to provide a character-building model implemented in the physical education and sport class for 345 students in grade four at elementary schools. Slovin Formula determined the sample size of elementary school students taken by simple random sampling in East Jakarta in Indonesia. A survey method was conducted in this study. The collecting data utilized questionnaires. The technique of analyzing data in this study applied Structural Equation Modeling. The findings indicate that model of character building in physical education and sport posed in this research is appropriate. There is a positive association between character building applied in physical play and sports, and character values integrated into physical education and sport were 0.981, 0.914, and 0.690, respectively. The variables observed connected with sub-indicators involving being appreciative of student characteristics, student tolerance encouragement, and struggle power building have a significant relationship with character values integration in physical activity of 0.362, 0.677, and 0.788, respectively. Sub-indicators of propagating a healthy life, flourishing student social skills, and improving student teamwork skills more significantly link with character building in play activity, attaining 0.790, 0.533, and 0.535. Sub-indicators motivating to be optimistic students, improving student discipline, and developing righteousness have a significant association with character building in sports activity, reaching 0.313, 0.549, and 0.424. In conclusion, it can be confirmed that the character integration model in physical education and sport offered can be carried out at elementary schools in East Jakarta. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Our study examined using a computer-based learning game as a tool to facilitate teaching and learning teamwork skills. The game was applied to an undergraduate level human resource management course at a business school in Finland. We focused on students' experiences and key learning outcomes of collaborative learning of teamwork skills through the game, and our analysis highlighted two key features of learning outcomes. First, the computer-based learning game promoted students' self-reflection and evaluation of their individual team roles. Second, although the game taught students the importance of continuous information sharing in teamwork, their evaluation of team outcomes was performance driven; students predominantly took team efficiency as a sign of good teamwork. This case revealed the benefits and challenges of using computer-based learning games as a pedagogical tool. We identified what is required from lecturers and students for the game to be successful, and how team values other than performance could be learned through the game. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
