In tunnel magnetic Josephson junctions (JJs), we have provided evidence of an inverse magnetic dependence of the critical current Ic(H), i.e., a shift of the Ic(H) curves in the opposite expected direction. We have established a self-consistent method to ascribe this unconventional feature to spin polarization phenomena at the S/F interface. Through a magnetic characterization of Superconductor (S) /Ferromagnet (F) /Superconductor (S) trilayers and a magnetostatic analysis of the devices, we show that the F-stray fields fail to determine the pattern inversion. The comparative analysis with the literature supports our thesis that this phenomenon can be explained in terms of inverse proximity effect and observed with a proper choice of materials and thickness of the ferromagnetic layer involved in the junction structure. More generally, our approach proves that a careful investigation of the magnetic field pattern in magnetic JJs can lead to the detection of novel effects arising at the S/F interface.

Gate-controlled supercurrent (GCS) in superconducting nanobridges has recently attracted attention as a means to create superconducting switches. Despite the clear advantages for applications, the microscopic mechanism of this effect is still under debate. In this work, we realize GCS for the first time in a highly crystalline superconductor epitaxially grown on an InAs nanowire. We show that the supercurrent in the epitaxial Al layer can be switched to the normal state by applying similar to +/- 23 V on a bottom gate insulated from the nanowire by a crystalline hBN layer. Our extensive study of the temperature and magnetic field dependencies suggests that the electric field is unlikely to be the origin of GCS in our device. Though hot electron injection alone cannot explain our experimental findings, a very recent non-equilibrium phonons based picture is compatible with most of our results.

We demonstrate long-range superconducting correlations in a several micrometer-long carbon nanotube encapsulated in a van der Waals stack between hBN and NbSe$_2$. We show that a substantial supercurrent flows through the nanotube section beneath the NbSe$_2$ crystal as well as through the 2 $\mu$m-long section not in contact with it. As expected for superconductors of nanoscopic cross section, the current-induced breakdown of superconductivity is characterized by resistance steps due to the nucleation of phase slip centers. In two-dimensional (2D) NbSe2 crystal, which lacks inversion symmetry, strong spin-orbit coupling aligns the spins of Cooper pairs to the orbital valleys, forming Ising Cooper pairs (ICPs). The unusual spin texture of ICPs can be further modulated by introducing magnetic exchange. Here, we report unconventional supercurrent phase in van der Waals heterostructure Josephson junctions (JJs) that couples NbSe2 ICPs across an atomically thin magnetic insulator (MI) Cr2Ge2Te6. By constructing a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), we measure the phase of the transferred Cooper pairs in the MI JJ. We demonstrate a doubly degenerate nontrivial JJ phase (ϕ), formed by momentum-conserving tunneling of ICPs across magnetic domains in the barrier. The doubly degenerate ground states in MI JJs provide a two-level quantum system that can be utilized as a new dissipationless component for superconducting quantum devices. Our work boosts the study of various superconducting states with spin-orbit coupling, opening up an avenue to designing new superconducting phase-controlled quantum electronic devices. Van der Waals structures provide a new platform to explore novel physics of superconductor/ferromagnet interfaces. Here, NbSe2 Josephson junction with Cr2Ge2Te6 enables non-trivial Josephson phase by spin-dependent interaction, boosting the study of superconducting states with spin-orbit coupling and phase-controlled quantum electronic device.

The most essential characteristic of any fluid is the velocity field, and this is particularly true for macroscopic quantum fluids1. Although rapid advances2–7 have occurred in quantum fluid velocity field imaging8, the velocity field of a charged superfluid—a superconductor—has never been visualized. Here we use superconducting-tip scanning tunnelling microscopy9–11 to image the electron-pair density and velocity fields of the flowing electron-pair fluid in superconducting NbSe2. Imaging of the velocity fields surrounding a quantized vortex12,13 finds electronic fluid flow with speeds reaching 10,000 km h–1. Together with independent imaging of the electron-pair density via Josephson tunnelling, we visualize the supercurrent density, which peaks above 3 × 107 A cm–2. The spatial patterns in electronic fluid flow and magneto-hydrodynamics reveal hexagonal structures coaligned to the crystal lattice and quasiparticle bound states14, as long anticipated15–18. These techniques pave the way for electronic fluid flow visualization studies of other charged quantum fluids. Atomic-scale visualization of the superfluid velocity field, the electron-pair density and the superfluid current density in an electron-pair superfluid surrounding an Abrikosov vortex in a superconducting sample of NbSe2 is demonstrated, using superconducting-tip scanning tunnelling microscopy.

IEEE We have previously reported the development of a cryogen-free critical current characterization system able to measure field-angle dependences of voltage-current characteristics of short-length superconducting tapes to temperatures of 25 K, fields up to 8 T and currents up to 875 A. We have now extended the existing system and built a parallel system which further extends the parameter space to 10 K, 12 T, 1600 A. With a software suite that fully automates batch measurements we have been able to generate detailed coverage of the temperature-field-angle-current parameter space relevant to many of the applications proposed for high-temperature superconducting tapes. We describe the improvements to the system and present data from commercial tape samples that illustrates the utility of the instrument.

For polycrystalline YBa2Cu3O7 (YBCO)-coated conductors, the diffusion behavior of oxygen ions during the preparation process, especially in grain boundaries (GBs), results in the motion of oxygen vacancies, and finally has a strong impact on the critical current density (Jc) of YBCO conductors. Such the oxygen diffusion in GBs has been found to be very sensitive to applied strain. In order to deeply understand the strain effect, in this article, we have studied the oxygen diffusion in polycrystalline YBCO conductors under uniaxial strain by molecular dynamic simulation. On the two different bicrystal structural models, the calculated results display that the oxygen diffusion in the grain boundary region shows a downward trend with the loading of the uniaxial tensile or compressive strain. And also, we found that applied strain leads to the variation of the microstructure of GBs, and thus results in reducing the oxygen vacancy concentration. As our previous study concluded, the high diffusion of oxygen can be regarded as a medium for analyzing the supercurrent through grain boundary. This paper further illustrates that the relation between the activation energy of oxygen diffusion and the strain loading has an almost similar form as that between the critical current density and the strain. This indicates that the activation energy of oxygen diffusion in the grain boundary region could be closely related to the critical current density, which arouses our interest to further explore whether or not it can be used as an index of predicting the current-carrying capability of YBCO conductors.

Passing a supercurrent through a topological material can highlight the existence of higher-order boundary states, and may lead to applications in topological superconductivity.

The iron-chalcogenide high temperature superconductor Fe(Se,Te) (FST) has been reported to exhibit complex magnetic ordering and nontrivial band topology which may lead to novel superconducting phenomena. However, the recent studies have so far been largely concentrated on its band and spin structures while its mesoscopic electronic and magnetic response, crucial for future device applications, has not been explored experimentally. Here, we used scanning superconducting quantum interference device microscopy for its sensitivity to both local diamagnetic susceptibility and current distribution in order to image the superfluid density and supercurrent in FST. We found that in FST with 10% interstitial Fe, whose magnetic structure was heavily disrupted, bulk superconductivity was significantly suppressed whereas edge still preserved strong superconducting diamagnetism. The edge dominantly carried supercurrent despite of a very long magnetic penetration depth. The temperature dependence of the superfluid density and supercurrent distribution were distinctively different between the edge and the bulk. Our Heisenberg modeling showed that magnetic dopants stabilize anti-ferromagnetic spin correlation along the edge, which may contribute towards its robust superconductivity. Our observations hold implication for FST as potential platforms for topological quantum computation and superconducting spintronics.

YBa2Cu3O7−δ(YBCO)/Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ(Bi-2212)/YBCO trilayer films with c-axis epitaxial orientation have been successfully prepared on LaAlO3 (LAO) monocrystalline substrates by sol–gel method using metallic acetates as starting materials. The effect of heat treatment temperature of upper YBCO films on the structure and superconductivity of YBCO/Bi-2212/YBCO planar-type junction have been studied. When the upper YBCO film fabricated at 750 °C, YBCO/Bi-2212/YBCO trilayer films exhibited good in-plane and out-of-plane growth texture and good superconductivity. Two superconducting transition steps in the R–T curves of YBCO/Bi-2212/YBCO trilayer films were clearly observed. Current–voltage (I–V) curves at 50–65 K of trilayer structure exhibit a supercurrent with zero voltage, and the superconducting critical current Ic is proportion to (1 − T⁄Tc)3.5. We suggest that a weak-link contact, which appears to have an SNSNS type structure, formed at the interface of YBCO/Bi-2212/YBCO trilayer structure.

Weyl semimetals have drawn considerable attention for their exotic topological properties in many research fields. When in combination with s-wave superconductors, the supercurrent can be carried by their topological surface channels, forming junctions mimicking the behavior of Majorana bound states. Here, we present a transmon-like superconducting quantum intereference device (SQUID) consisting of lateral junctions made of Weyl semimetal Td-MoTe2 and superconducting leads of niobium nitride (NbN). The SQUID is coupled to a readout cavity made of molybdenum rhenium (MoRe), whose response at high power reveals the existence of the constituting Josephson junctions (JJs). The loop geometry of the circuit allows the resonant frequency of the readout cavity to be tuned by the magnetic flux. We demonstrate a JJ made of MoTe2 and a flux-tunable transmon-like circuit based on Weyl semimetals. Our study provides a platform to utilize topological materials in SQUID-based quantum circuits for potential applications in quantum information processing.

Within the framework of the generalized time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equations, we studied the influence of the magnetic self-field induced by the currents inside a superconducting sample driven by an applied transport current. The numerical simulations of the resistive state of the system show that neither material inhomogeneity nor a normal contact smaller than the sample width are required to produce an inhomogeneous current distribution inside the sample, which leads to the emergence of a kinematic vortex-antivortex pair (vortex street) solution. Further, we discuss the behaviors of the kinematic vortex velocity, the annihilation rates of the supercurrent, and the superconducting order parameters alongside the vortex street solution. We prove that these two latter points explain the characteristics of the resistive state of the system. They are the fundamental basis to describe the peak of the current-resistance characteristic curve and the location where the vortex-antivortex pair is formed., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures. Pairs on the edge Many materials with topologically nontrivial band structures are characterized by currents that run around the edge of the sample and typically consist of single excitations. It is an open question whether a topological material that is also a superconductor can support an edge current that consists of paired excitations. W. Wang et al. studied the Weyl superconductor molybdenum ditelluride and, using systematic transport measurements in the presence of a magnetic field, revealed the signatures of an edge supercurrent. Many proposals in exploring topological quantum computation are based on superconducting quantum devices constructed on materials with strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC). For these devices, a full control on both the magnitude and the spatial distribution of the supercurrent would be highly demanded, but has been elusive up to now. We constructed proximity-type Josephson junction on nanoplates of Bi2O2Se, a new emerging semiconductor with strong SOC. Through electrical gating, we show that the supercurrent can be fully turned ON and OFF, and its real-space pathways can be configured either through the bulk or along the edges. Our work demonstrates Bi2O2Se as a promising platform for constructing multifunctional hybrid superconducting devices as well as for searching for topological superconductivity.

We use a superconducting microresonator as a cavity to sense absorption of microwaves by a superconducting quantum point contact defined by surface gates over a proximitized two-dimensional electron gas. Renormalization of the cavity frequency with phase difference across the point contact is consistent with coupling to Andreev bound states. Near pi phase difference, we observe random fluctuations in absorption with gate voltage, related to quantum interference-induced modulations in the electron transmission. Close to pinch-off, we identify features consistent with the presence of a single Andreev bound state and describe the Andreev-cavity interaction using a Jaynes-Cummings model. By fitting the weak Andreev-cavity coupling, we extract similar to GHz decoherence consistent with charge noise and the transmission dispersion associated with a localized state.

The underlying nonlinear mechanisms behind the operation of travelling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs) are important in determining their performance in terms of added noise, maximum gain, and bandwidth. We describe a method of characterising the underlying nonlinearity of a superconducting material in terms of its dissipative-reactive ratio and the response time of the underlying microscopic processes. We describe and calculate the different behaviour arising from the equilibrium supercurrent nonlinearity, which has low dissipation and fast response time, and the non-equilibrium heating nonlinearity, which has high dissipation and slow response time. We have fabricated TWPAs based on Al and Ti, and characterised their nonlinearities using our analysis. For both Al and Ti, the measured dissipative-reactive ratios and response times are quantitatively similar to predictions for the non-equilibrium heating nonlinearity. We were able to obtain more than 20 d B of peak power gain, although only over a narrow bandwidth of a few kilohertz. Our method of characterising the underlying nonlinearities could also be useful in the understanding and design of other superconducting nonlinear devices such as parametric up-converters, kinetic inductance Fourier transform spectrometers, and resonator parametric amplifiers.

Recent experiments have shown the possibility of tuning the transport properties of metallic nanosized superconductors through a gate voltage. These results renewed the longstanding debate on the interaction between electrostatic fields and superconductivity. Indeed, different works suggested competing mechanisms as the cause of the effect: an unconventional electric field-effect or quasiparticle injection. Here, we provide conclusive evidence for the electrostatic-field-driven control of the supercurrent in metallic nanosized superconductors, by realizing ionic-gated superconducting field-effect nanotransistors (ISFETs) where electron injection is impossible. Our Nb ISFETs show giant suppression of the superconducting critical current of up to similar to 45%. Moreover, the bipolar supercurrent suppression observed in different ISFETs, together with invariant critical temperature and normal-state resistance, also excludes conventional charge accumulation/depletion. Therefore, the microscopic explanation of this effect calls upon a novel theory able to describe the nontrivial interaction of static electric fields with conventional superconductivity.

In a small subset of type II superconductor films, the critical current is determined by a weakened Bean-Livingston barrier posed by the film surfaces to vortex penetration into the sample. A film property thus depends sensitively on the surface or interface to an adjacent material. We theoretically investigate the dependence of vortex barrier and critical current in such films on the Rashba spin-orbit coupling at their interfaces with adjacent materials. Considering an interface with a magnetic insulator, we find the spontaneous supercurrent resulting from the exchange field and interfacial spin-orbit coupling to substantially modify the vortex surface barrier, consistent with a previous prediction. Thus, we show that the critical currents in superconductor-magnet heterostructures can be controlled, and even enhanced, via the interfacial spin-orbit coupling. Since the latter can be controlled via a gate voltage, our analysis predicts a class of heterostructures amenable to gate-voltage modulation of superconducting critical currents. It also sheds light on the recently observed gate-voltage enhancement of critical current in NbN superconducting films.

Transport is non-reciprocal when not only the sign, but also the absolute value of the current depends on the polarity of the applied voltage. It requires simultaneously broken inversion and time-reversal symmetries, for example, by an interplay of spin–orbit coupling and magnetic field. Hitherto, observation of nonreciprocity was tied to resistivity, and dissipationless non-reciprocal circuit elements were elusive. Here we engineer fully superconducting non-reciprocal devices based on highly transparent Josephson junctions fabricated on InAs quantum wells. We demonstrate supercurrent rectification far below the transition temperature. By measuring Josephson inductance, we can link the non-reciprocal supercurrent to an asymmetry of the current–phase relation, and directly derive the supercurrent magnetochiral anisotropy coefficient. A semiquantitative model explains well the main features of our experimental data. Non-reciprocal Josephson junctions have the potential to become for superconducting circuits what pn junctions are for traditional electronics, enabling new non-dissipative circuit elements. Diodes exhibit non-reciprocal current–voltage relations, that is, the resistivity depends on the direction of the current flow. Now an array of Josephson junctions with large spin–orbit interaction acts as the superconducting version of a diode, where dissipation-free supercurrent flows in one direction, but not the other.

We develop a quantitative model describing the distribution of the supercurrent density and density of states in SN-N-NS type Josephson junctions in three dimensions (S is a superconductor and N is a normal metal). The model is based on the self-consistent solution of the quasiclassical Usadel equations using the finite element method. We investigate the influence of the proximity effect on the properties of the junction as a function of phase difference across the structure for various spatial dimensions and material parameters of S, N metals. The results are consistent with analytical solutions in the thin N layer limit and show consistent behavior for a large range of junction parameters. The results may serve to design nanoscale Josephson junctions for use in superconducting digital circuits.

Since the early days of Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer theory, it has been predicted that a sufficiently large supercurrent can close the energy gap in a superconductor and creates gapless Bogoliubov quasiparticles through the Doppler shift of quasiparticle energy due to the Cooper pair momentum. In this gapless superconducting state, zero-energy quasiparticles reside on a segment of the normal state Fermi surface, while its remaining part is still gapped. The finite density of states of field-induced quasiparticles, known as the Volovik effect, has been observed in tunneling and specific heat measurements on d- and s-wave superconductors. However, the segmented Fermi surface of a finite-momentum state carrying a supercurrent has never been detected directly. Here we use quasiparticle interference (QPI) technique to image field-controlled Fermi surface of Bi$_2$Te$_3$ thin films proximitized by the superconductor NbSe$_2$. By applying a small in-plane magnetic field, a screening supercurrent is induced which leads to finite-momentum pairing on topological surface states of Bi$_2$Te$_3$. Our measurements and analysis reveal the strong impact of finite Cooper pair momentum on the quasiparticle spectrum, and thus pave the way for STM study of pair density wave and FFLO states in unconventional superconductors., Comment: 25 pages, 14 figures

The most effective way to enhance the dissipation-free supercurrent in presence of magnetic field for type II superconductors is the introduction of defects that acts as artificial pinning centres (APCs) for the vortices. For instance, the in-field critical current density of doped BaFe2As2 (Ba122), one of the most technologically important Fe-based superconductors, has been improved over the last decade by APCs created by ion-irradiation. The technique of ion-irradiation has been commonly implemented to determine the ultimate superconducting properties. However, this method is rather complicated and expensive. Here, we report on a surprisingly high critical current density and strong pinning efficiency close to the crystallographic c-axis for a K-doped Ba122 epitaxial thin film without APCs, achieving performance comparable to ion-irradiated K-doped Ba122 single crystals. Microstructural analysis reveals that the film is composed of columnar grains having width around 30-60 nm. The grains are rotated around the b- (or a-) axis by 1.5 degree and around the c-axis by -1 degree, resulting in the formation of low-angle grain boundary networks. This study demonstrates that the upper limit of in-field properties reached in ion-irradiated K-doped Ba122 is achievable by grain boundary engineering, which is a simple and industrially scalable manner., Main text with Supplement Material

We present a superconductor-semiconductor materials system that is both scalable and monolithically integrated on a silicon substrate. It uses selective-area growth of $\mathrm{Al}$-$\mathrm{In}\mathrm{As}$ hybrid structures on a planar III-V buffer layer, grown directly on a high-resistivity silicon substrate. We characterize the electrical properties of this materials system at millikelvin temperatures and observe a high average field-effect mobility of $\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\approx}3200\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{2}\mathrm{/Vs}$ for the $\mathrm{In}\mathrm{As}$ channel and a hard induced superconducting gap. Josephson junctions exhibit a high interface transmission, $\mathcal{T}\ensuremath{\approx}0.75$, a gate-voltage-tunable switching current with a product of critical current and normal state resistance, ${I}_{C}{R}_{N}\ensuremath{\approx}83\phantom{\rule{0.2em}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{V}$, and signatures of multiple Andreev reflections. These results pave the way for scalable and high-coherence gate-voltage-tunable transmon devices and other superconductor-semiconductor hybrids fabricated directly on silicon.

The proximity-coupling of a chiral non-collinear antiferromagnet (AFM)1–5 with a singlet superconductor allows spin-unpolarized singlet Cooper pairs to be converted into spin-polarized triplet pairs6–8, thereby enabling non-dissipative, long-range spin correlations9–14. The mechanism of this conversion derives from fictitious magnetic fields that are created by a non-zero Berry phase15 in AFMs with non-collinear atomic-scale spin arrangements1–5. Here we report long-ranged lateral Josephson supercurrents through an epitaxial thin film of the triangular chiral AFM Mn3Ge (refs. 3–5). The Josephson supercurrents in this chiral AFM decay by approximately one to two orders of magnitude slower than would be expected for singlet pair correlations9–14 and their response to an external magnetic field reflects a clear spatial quantum interference. Given the long-range supercurrents present in both single- and mixed-phase Mn3Ge, but absent in a collinear AFM IrMn16, our results pave a way for the topological generation of spin-polarized triplet pairs6–8 via Berry phase engineering15 of the chiral AFMs., Long-range lateral Josephson supercurrents are observed in a chiral non-collinear antiferromagnet, indicating topologically generated triplet pairing states.

The coupling between the Josephson phase and magnetization in Superconductor/Ferromagnet/Superconductor (S/F/S) junctions plays an important role in the dynamics of this system. In the presence of this coupling, we demonstrate the manifestation of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) in the frequency dependence of the magnetization and critical current of S/F/S Josephson junction under circularly polarized magnetic field. Furthermore, we compare the simulation results in both the nonlinearized and the linearized models. The ferromagnetic resonance linewidth and the resonance frequency are strongly affected by the ratio of the Josephson and magnetic energies.

In this paper, I report on the fabrication of micron-sized constrictions in YBCO thin films using the femtosecond laser technique. The constrictions are S-shaped superconducting weak links fabricated on YBCO thin films. The constrictions show a measurable superconducting current flowing through them. Current-voltage (I–V) characteristics were used to determine the critical current IC of the constrictions at 77 K. The width of the constrictions was determined at the narrowest point using SEM (scanning electron microscope). Three micron-sized constrictions were fabricated with a width of 2.88 μm, 1.72 μm, and 1.69 μm and a length of 5 μm. Based on the width and length of these constrictions in relation to the coherence length (ξ) of the YBCO, these constrictions should conduct supercurrent by Abrikosov vortices. The SEM images show that the femtosecond laser heats the samples beyond the geometric boundary, damaging some of the superconductive phases of the YBCO constrictions. As a result, the constrictions conduct current by one-dimensional depairing.

Proximation of s-wave superconductivity to topological materials is an effective way to realize Majorana modes in condensed matter physics. In order to fabricate a successful device, the superconducting material plays a crucial role since selection of material, growth method, applicable critical temperature, adequate critical magnetic field, transparent electrical contact, and thus proper work function, needs to be deliberately considered. Here, we report the fabrications and transport measurements for two types of superconducting thin films, tantalum (Ta) and niobium nitride (NbN), at various growth conditions. Both Ta and NbN films show applicable potentials as the superconducting electrodes. We also demonstrate the proximity effect induced supercurrent state in an InAs/GaSb bilayer device with superconducting Ta electrodes.

Based on Ginzburg-Landau theory, we study the thermoelectric effect of two-band superconducting ring of inductance L with a microbridge structure. The phase difference of two order parameters in the ring satisfies the sine-Gordon equation, and from its soliton solution and the Josephson current-phase relation in the two-band microbridge, we obtain the analytical expression of the generated magnetic flux as a function of applied temperature gradient. Our results show that in the regime LIc > Φ0/2π with Ic the critical supercurrent in the microbridge and Φ0 = h/2e, this single-junction system will exhibit the irreversible behavior and the induced fractional flux transition can be easily observed in the typical two-band superconductor MgB2.

LiCuVO4 is a model system of a 1D spin-1/2 chain that enters a planar spin-spiral ground state below its Néel temperature of 2.4 K due to competing nearest and next nearest neighbor interactions. The spin-spiral state is multiferroic with an electric polarization along the a axis which has been proposed to be caused purely by the spin supercurrent mechanism. With external magnetic fields in c direction TN can be suppressed down to 0 K at 7.4 T. Here we report dynamical measurements of the polarization from P(E)-hysteresis loops, magnetic field dependent pyro-current and non-linear dielectric spectroscopy as well as thermal expansion and magnetostriction measurements at very low temperatures. The multiferroic transition is accompanied by strong anomalies in the thermal expansion and magnetostriction coefficients and we find slow switching times of electric domain reversal. Both observations suggest a sizable magnetoelastic coupling in LiCuVO4. By analyzing the non-linear polarization dynamics we derive domain sizes in the nm range that are probably caused by Li defects.

In this work, we study the current-phase relation ($\mathrm{C}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Phi}}\mathrm{R}$) of lithographically fabricated molybdenum germanium (${\mathrm{Mo}}_{79}{\mathrm{Ge}}_{21}$) nanobridges that is intimately linked with the nanobridge's kinetic inductance. We do this by imbedding the nanobridges in a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). We observe that, for temperatures far below ${T}_{c}$, the $\mathrm{C}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Phi}}\mathrm{R}$ is linear, as long as the condensate is not weakened by the presence of a supercurrent. We demonstrate lithographic control over the nanobridge kinetic inductance, which scales with the nanobridge aspect ratio. This allows the ${I}_{c}(B)$ characteristic of the SQUID to be tuned. The SQUID properties that can be controlled in this way include the SQUID's sensitivity and the positions of the critical-current maxima. These observations can be of use for the design and operation of future superconducting devices, such as magnetic memories or flux qubits.
