Background: Anxiety among students has become a fairly major problem. In the current era, Machine Learning (ML) can be used as a quick technology to predict students' anxiety with the high-level accuracy. Objectives: This research aims to predict university students' anxiety by using supervised learning algorithms with providing pertinent feedback. Methods: A total of 231 students from the University of Belgrade filled out the standard questionnaire called the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). In addition, deeper information related to students’ anxiety like physical activity, Grade Point Average (GPA), and smoking cigarettes were collected. The Linear Regression algorithm was chosen to examine STAI using Python. Results: Linear regression as an appropriate algorithm was exploited for this purpose. The accuracy metric obtained by using the Mean Absolute Error (MAE), was 7.86 for state anxiety and 5.68 for trait anxiety. In addition, the Mean Squared Error (MSE) has also been calculated with state anxiety at 7.80, and trait anxiety at 9.66. Moreover, to find the factor with the highest impact after training, a regression analysis method (LASSO) was used. K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) algorithm also checked the accuracy of training by overfitting and underfitting. Conclusion: The purpose of this study was the analysis of anxiety factors with the highest impact as well as the analysis of the STAI by linear regression to improve a smart healthcare model by discovering an acceptable output with the highest accuracy.

Purpose: To propose an acceleration method for 3D variable flip‐angle (VFA) T1 mapping based on a technique called shift undersampling improves parametric mapping efficiency and resolution (SUPER). Methods: The proposed method incorporates strategies of SUPER, controlled aliasing in volumetric parallel imaging (CAIPIRINHA), and total variation‐based regularization to accelerate 3D VFA T1 mapping. The k‐space sampling grid of CAIPIRINHA is internally undersampled with SUPER along the contrast dimension. A proximal algorithm was developed to preserve the computational efficiency of SUPER in the presence of regularization. The regularized SUPER‐CAIPIRINHA (rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA) was compared with low rank plus sparsity (L + S), reconstruction of principal component coefficient maps (REPCOM), and other SUPER‐based methods via simulations and in vivo brain T1 mapping. The results were assessed quantitatively with NRMSE and structural similarity index measure (SSIM), and qualitatively by two experienced reviewers. Results: rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA achieved a lower NRMSE and higher SSIM than L + S (0.11 ± 0.01 vs. 0.19 ± 0.03, p < 0.001; 0.66 ± 0.05 vs. 0.37 ± 0.03, p < 0.001) and REPCOM (0.16 ± 0.02, p < 0.001; 0.46 ± 0.04, p < 0.001). The reconstruction time of rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA was 6% of L + S and 2% of REPCOM. For the qualitative comparison, rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA showed improvement of overall image quality and reductions of artifacts and blurring, although with a lower apparent SNR. Compared with 2D SUPER‐SENSE, rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA significantly reduced NRMSE (0.11 ± 0.01 vs. 0.23 ± 0.04, p < 0.001) and generated less noisy reconstructions. Conclusion: By incorporating SUPER, CAIPIRINHA, and regularization, rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA mitigated noise amplification, reduced artifacts and blurring, and achieved faster reconstructions compared with L + S and REPCOM. These advantages render 3D rSUPER‐CAIPIRINHA VFA T1 mapping potentially useful for clinical applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Over ⅓ of the population in the United State is obese (body mass index [BMI] >30 kg/m2), with an increasing proportion being morbidly obese (BMI >40 kg/m2). As the obesity rate climbs, an increasing number have entered the super-obese category (BMI >50 kg/m2), theoretically increasing risk for complications after total hip arthroplasty (THA). This study compared complications in non-obese, obese, morbidly obese, and super-obese patients undergoing THA. We specifically assessed: (1) 1- and 2-year peri-prosthetic joint infection (PJI) rates; (2) complication rates; as well as (3) 1- and 2-year revision rates. Methods: A database review identified patients undergoing primary THA from 01 January 2010 to 31 December 2019. Patients were stratified based on the presence of International Classification of Diseases, 9th and 10th revision diagnosis codes of non-obese (BMI <30 kg/m2) (n = 8680), obese (BMI <40 kg/m2) (n = 12,443), morbidly obese (BMI <50 kg/m2) (n = 5250), and super-obese (BMI >50 kg/m2) (n = 814) prior to THA. Complication rates at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years were compared across groups. Results: At all time points, super-obese patients were associated with higher rates of PJI, even when compared to morbidly obese patients. Complications such as sepsis, venous thrombo-embolism, and revision surgeries were found in higher numbers in super-obese as well as morbidly obese patients, compared to obese and non-obese patients. Conclusions: This study provides large-scale analyses demonstrating the association between super-obese and morbidly obese patients and higher infection rates, as well as complications, following THA. Importantly, the association of PJI is highest among super-obese patients, even when compared to morbidly obese patients. Attaining a BMI <40 kg/m2 prior to surgery may be an important goal discussed with patients to lower the chance of postoperative infections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Brazilian northeast has a characteristic relationship with water resources because, in this region, water scarcity is associated with natural factors and accentuated by anthropic actions that interfere with water quality. The present work aimed to perform a temporal analysis of the water quality of the Nilo Coelho reservoir, municipality of Terra Nova, a semi-arid region of Pernambuco. Initially, the parameters of dissolved oxygen, nitrate, and phosphorus, available in the system of hydrological response units for Pernambuco (SUPer), following the resolution of the National Environment Council (CONAMA), for the years 1963–2021, were analyzed. Subsequently, land use and occupation mapping were carried out to identify the activities that developed in the region. The result of the analysis of water quality for the Nilo Coelho reservoir classifies it as little compromised, since the parameters are within acceptable limits, with greater variations for phosphorus. Regarding the use and occupation of the soil, there was an increase in water availability and agricultural areas, with a reduction in the caatinga. Continuous monitoring of water quality in the reservoir is recommended, in addition to the application of SUPer and land use and occupation maps as tools for the management of water resources. In order to solve the problem of super-resolution reconstruction for low illumination images, a super-resolution reconstruction method based on improved super-resolution residual networks (SRResNet) was proposed for low illumination images with low resolution. In order to improve the generation method of training image pairs and optimize the training process, the low illumination image with low resolution was generated by down sampling and brightness reduction of the high resolution (HR) image, and the processed image and the corresponding HR image were input into the learning model as the data pair, so that a super-resolution reconstruction method for single frame low illumination color image based on improved SRResNet was constructed. The experimental results show that compared with the popular image super-resolution reconstruction methods, the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM) indicators of the proposed method are the best as a whole among all the comparison methods. This proposed method reconstructs clearer, brighter and more detailed super-resolution image from low illumination image with low resolution. Significant developments have taken place in field of diabetic foot over past few years. This was considered to be a neglected condition both by the patients and the treating clinicians. Owing to the fact that diabetic foot can lead to amputation which may cause debilitation of the patient, awareness of this condition has been on raise over past decade. Diabetic foot being a complex disease often has many difficulties in understanding it and also there have been treatment dilemmas. Recently, a new principle and practice was laid down for this condition from India, known as Amit Jains system of practice, which is now the modern diabetic foot surgery. There has been addition of various new eponymous works by the author to this new system, thereby taking a leap into super modern diabetic foot surgery system. Root cause analysis of the heat exchanger tube of bagasse-fired plant is carried out in this work. The investigation involves different methods including visual examination, chemical composition, microstructural and macroscopic examination, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. Wall thickness of ruptured tubes was analyzed to evaluate the wall thinning. The tubes on the front row facing soot blower experienced significant wall thinning. The chemical composition of the matrix material of the tube satisfies the specifications of the relevant American standards. Microscopic examination does not show much variation in the microstructure. The failure mechanism is observed as a result of the significant localized wall thinning of the boiler tube due to the impact of high-velocity soot particles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Genome–environment associations (GEAs) are a powerful strategy for the study of adaptive traits in wild plant populations, yet they still lack behind in the use of modern statistical methods as the ones suggested for genome-wide association studies (GWASs). In order to bridge this gap, we couple GEA with last-generation GWAS algorithms in common bean to identify novel sources of heat tolerance across naturally heterogeneous ecosystems. Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is the most important legume for human consumption, and breeding it for resistance to heat stress is key because annual increases in atmospheric temperature are causing decreases in yield of up to 9% for every 1°C. A total of 78 geo-referenced wild accessions, spanning the two gene pools of common bean, were genotyped by sequencing (GBS), leading to the discovery of 23,373 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. Three indices of heat stress were developed for each accession and inputted in last-generation algorithms (i.e. SUPER, FarmCPU, and BLINK) to identify putative associated loci with the environmental heterogeneity in heat stress. Best-fit models revealed 120 significantly associated alleles distributed in all 11 common bean chromosomes. Flanking candidate genes were identified using 1-kb genomic windows centered in each associated SNP marker. Some of these genes were directly linked to heat-responsive pathways, such as the activation of heat shock proteins (MED23, MED25, HSFB1, HSP40, and HSP20). We also found protein domains related to thermostability in plants such as S1 and Zinc finger A20 and AN1. Other genes were related to biological processes that may correlate with plant tolerance to high temperature, such as time to flowering (MED25, MBD9, and PAP), germination and seedling development (Pkinase_Tyr, Ankyrin-B, and Family Glicosil-hydrolase), cell wall stability (GAE6), and signaling pathway of abiotic stress via abscisic acid (histone-like transcription factors NFYB and phospholipase C) and auxin (Auxin response factor and AUX_IAA). This work offers putative associated loci for marker-assisted and genomic selection for heat tolerance in common bean. It also demonstrates that it is feasible to identify genome-wide environmental associations with modest sample sizes by using a combination of various carefully chosen environmental indices and last-generation GWAS algorithms.

The second Bush Administration will face many demanding challenges in foreign economic policy – the Doha Round of multilateral trade talks, regional and bilateral trade negotiations, poor-country debt problems, rising energy prices, the competitive threat of China, and more. But most demanding of all will be the critical issue of America's balance of payments. Persistent external deficits have led to an unprecedented growth of foreign debt for the United States, now in excess of $3 trillion ($3,000,000,000) on a net basis. For the first time in history, the world’s greatest superpower is also the world's greatest debtor. If not managed effectively, America's Super Debt could become a grave source of strain on financial markets and possibly even trigger a global economic crisis. It is hardly an exaggeration to say that the fate of the world economy hangs in the balance. Is the Bush Administration up to the challenge?

Penelitian sifat fisis dan mekanis kayu jati (Tectona grandis L.f.) jenis lokal dan super dari daerah Binjai, Maros, Parung, Panajam, Kutai, Lampung, Bengkulu dan Palembang bertujuan untuk melihat perbedaan karakteristik sifat fisis dan mekanis kayunya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata berat jenis (BJ) kayu jati super lebih tinggi daripada kayu jati lokal, sedangkan BJ tertinggi pada kayu jati super adalah dari Binjai dan terendah dari Maros. Jenis jati lokal dan super berpengaruh nyata terhadap berat jenis basah kayu tersebut, sedangkan lokasi penanaman jati tidak memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap berat jenis. Kayu yang terkuat adalah jati lokal dari Palembang, diikuti berturut-turut kayu jati super dari Lampung, jati lokal dari Kutai, jati super dari Bengkulu, jati super dari Kutai, jati lokal dari Binjai, jati super dari Parung, jati super dari Binjai, jati supr dari Palembang, jati lokal dari Lampung, jati lokal dari Sulawesi dan yang terendah jati super dari Sulawesi. Perbedaan BJ tersebut berpengaruh nyata pada kekakuan dan keteguhan tekan sejajar serat, sedangkan lokasi tanaman berpengaruh nyata terhadap kekakuan dan kekuatan patahnya. Kayu jati yang diteliti tergolong kelas kuat III-IV.

Kayu jati (Tectona grandis L.f.) telah dikenal sebagai bahan baku mebel dan konstruksi dengan kualitas tinggi. Jati cepat tumbuh atau dikenal dengan nama dagang 'Jati super', 'Jati unggul', 'Jati prima' atau 'Jati emas' merupakan tanaman jati yang dikembangkan melalui kultur jaringan dan bertujuan menambah pasokan bahan baku kayu jati. Sedangkan kayu jati konvensional merupakan tanaman yang dikembangkan melalui perkecambahan biji. Informasi mengenai kualitas kayu jati cepat tumbuh belum diketahui. Salah satu parameter kualitas kayu jati dapat dilihat dari persentase kayu terasnya dalam batang. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan persentase teras kayu jati super dan konvensional pada umur dan lokasi yang sama. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa pada umur 7 tahun, kayu teras telah terbentuk pada seluruh lempengan kayu jati super maupun konvensional dari bagian ujung, tengah dan pangkal. Persentase kayu teras jati super rata-rata 39,6%, lebih besar dari jati konvensional 20,3%. Berdasarkan persentase kayu terasnya kayu jati konvensional lebih baik dari jati super. Namun, parameter kualitas kayu yang lain juga harus diperhatikan seperti kualitas serat, kandungan bahan kimia dan keawetan alaminya. Berdasarkan SNI 01-5007.1-2003, batang kayu jati super dan konvensional pada umur 7 tahun dapat masuk dalam kriteria kayu bulat kecil (KBK, A.I.).

Laparoscopic gastric sleeve (LGS) resection in super-obese patients (BMI > 50 kg/m2) is a challenging procedure. We have developed a unique approach and technique for LGS with no buttress stapling and without oversewing. After 102 operations there have been no leaks and late complications.

Purpose: To investigate Shift Undersampling improves Parametric mapping Efficiency and Resolution (SUPER), a novel blockwise curve‐fitting method for accelerating parametric mapping with very fast reconstruction. Methods: SUPER uses interleaved k‐space undersampling, which enables a blockwise decomposition of the otherwise large‐scale cost function to improve the reconstruction efficiency. SUPER can be readily combined with SENSE to achieve at least 4‐fold acceleration. D‐factor, a parametric‐mapping counterpart of g‐factor, was proposed and formulated to compare spatially heterogeneous noise amplification because of different acceleration methods. As a proof‐of‐concept, SUPER/SUPER‐SENSE was validated using T1 mapping, by comparing them to alternative model‐based methods, including MARTINI and GRAPPATINI, via simulations, phantom imaging, and in vivo brain imaging (N = 5), over criteria of normalized root‐mean‐squares error (NRMSE), average d‐factor, and computational time per voxel (TPV). A novel SUPER‐SENSE MOLLI cardiac T1‐mapping sequence with improved resolution (1.4 mm × 1.4 mm) was compared to standard MOLLI (1.9 mm × 2.5 mm) in 8 healthy subjects. Results: In brain imaging, 2‐fold SUPER achieved lower NRMSE (0.04 ± 0.02 vs. 0.11 ± 0.02, P < 0.01), lower average d‐factor (1.01 ± 0.002 vs. 1.12 ± 0.004, P < 0.001), and lower TPV (4.6 ms ± 0.2 ms vs. 79 ms ± 3 ms, P < 0.001) than 2‐fold MARTINI. Similarly, 4‐fold SUPER‐SENSE achieved lower NRMSE (0.07 ± 0.01 vs. 0.13 ± 0.03, P = 0.02), lower average d‐factor (1.15 ± 0.01 vs. 1.20 ± 0.01, P < 0.001), and lower TPV (4.0 ms ± 0.1 ms vs. 72 ms ± 3 ms, P < 0.001) than 4‐fold GRAPPATINI. In cardiac T1 mapping, SUPER‐SENSE MOLLI yielded similar myocardial T1 (1151 ms ± 63 ms vs. 1159 ms ± 32 ms, P = 0.6), slightly lower blood T1 (1643 ms ± 86 ms vs. 1680 ms ± 79 ms, P = 0.004), but improved spatial resolution compared with standard MOLLI in the same imaging time. Conclusion: SUPER and SUPER‐SENSE provide fast model‐based reconstruction methods for accelerating parametric mapping and improving its clinical appeal. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Super- and sub-additive transformations of aggregation functions have been recently introduced by Greco, Mesiar, Rindone and Šipeky [The superadditive and the subadditive transformations of integrals and aggrega- tion functions, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 291 (2016), 40-53]. In this article we give a survey of the recent development regarding the existence of aggregation functions with a preassigned super- and sub-additive transformation, and ad- dress approximation of these transformations. Background: Surgical technique plays an essential role in achieving good health outcomes. However, the quality of surgical technique reporting remains heterogeneous. Reporting checklists could help authors to describe the surgical technique more transparently and effectively, as well as to assist reviewers and editors evaluate it more informatively, and promote readers to better understand the technique. We previously developed SUPER (surgical technique reporting checklist and standards) to assist authors in reporting their research that contains surgical technique more transparently. However, further explanation and elaboration of each item are needed for better understanding and reporting practice., Methods: We searched surgical literature in PubMed, Google Scholar and journal websites published up to January 2023 to find multidiscipline examples in various article types for each SUPER item., Results: We explain the 22 items of the SUPER and provide rationales item by item alongside. We provide 69 examples from 53 literature that present optimal reporting of the 22 items. Article types of examples include pure surgical technique, and case reports, observational studies and clinical trials that contain surgical technique. Examples are multidisciplinary, including general surgery, orthopaedical surgery, cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, neurological surgery, oncogenic surgery, and emergency surgery etc., Conclusions: Along with SUPER article, this explanation and elaboration file can promote deeper understanding on the SUPER items. El sistema de adquisición de imágenes espectrales basado en apertura codificada de única captura (CASSI) es una arquitectura óptica notable, que permite capturar la información espectral de una escena utilizando proyecciones bidimensionales codificadas. Las proyecciones en CASSI se encuentran ubicadas de tal manera, que cada medición contiene únicamente información espectral específica de una región del cubo de datos. La resolución espacial en el sistema CASSI depende altamente de la resolución del detector utilizado; así, imágenes de alta resolución requieren detectores de alta resolución, que a su vez demandan altos costos. Como solución a este problema, en éste artículo se propone un modelo óptico de súper-resolución para el mejoramiento de la resolución espacial de imágenes hiperespectrales denominado SR-CASSI. Súper-resolución espacial se logra tras solucionar un problema inverso utilizando un algoritmo de compressive sensing (CS), que tiene como entrada las mediciones codificadas de baja resolución capturadas. Éste modelo permite la reconstrucción de cubos de datos hiperespectrales súper resueltos, cuya resolución espacial es aumentada significativamente. Los resultados de las simulaciones muestran un mejoramiento de más de 8 dB en PSNR cuando el modelo propuesto es utilizado.

Laparoscopic gastric sleeve (LGS) resection in super-obese patients (BMI > 50 kg/m2) is a challenging procedure. We have developed a unique approach and technique for LGS with no buttress stapling and without oversewing. After 102 operations there have been no leaks and late complications. Two field experiments were carried out during two summer seasons of 2013 and 2014 years at the Experimental Farm of Kaha Station, Qalubia Governorate to study the effect of using three irrigation intervals (7, 15 or 21 day) and five treatments of water absorbent substrates as adding to soil before transplanting ,i.e. (without substrates (control), SAP at 15 kg/fed., SAP at 20 kg/fed., compost at 5 t/fed. and compost at 10t/fed.) on sweet pepper plants c.v. Mohanad and the effect of that on growth, yield, physical and chemical characters of sweet pepper fruits. The results indicated that, the highest values of all vegetative growth parameters, yield and yield components were registered by the treatment of 7 days or 15 day irrigation intervals. Concerning of using water absorbent substrates, it was found that, pepper plants grown in the soil fertilized at 10 t/fed. or treated with super absorbent polymer (SAP) 20 kg/fed., respectively gave the highest values of vegetative growth parameters, yield and yield components. It is obvious that the plants fertilized at 10 t/fed. and irrigated every 7 days gave the highest values of fruit length, fruit diameter, fresh fruit weight and total yield. While, plants treated with SAP at 20 kg/fed. and irrigated every 15 day gave the highest values of fruit diameter and fresh fruit weight, but the differences did not reach to significance level for fruit length and early yield in both growing seasons. On the other hand, compost at 10 t/fed., compost at 5 t/fed. and SAP at 20 kg/fed. with irrigation every 21 day were the best treatments for yield and yield components of pepper plants. Generally, it can recommend by using compost at 5 t/fed., or super absorbent polymer (SAP) at 20 kg/fed. with irrigation every 15 days and this mean that increased the irrigation period without any injury or statistical effect on the fruit crop to obtain high pepper fruit yield with height quality and height net income to the growers. In this study, turning of super alloy Monel K500 has been investigated with ceramic tools and with the help of ordinary and Wiper inserts under dry and near dry machining. First, preparation of process on lathe and a mechanism to provide near dry lubrication was done. The used tools are ordinary ceramic inserts from type of DNGA 12 04 08 T01020-650 and Wiper inserts from type of DNGA 12 04 08 T01020WG-650 manufactured by Sandvik company. During the experiments, parameters such as cutting force, surface roughness, and cutting region temperature were evaluated. All of the mentioned parameters were measured in both dry and near dry lubrication. Objective(s): This paper describes coating of magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) with amorphous silica shells. Materials and Methods: First, magnetite (Fe3O4) NPs were synthesized by co-precipitation method and then treated with stabilizer molecule of trisodium citrate to enhance their dispersibility. Afterwards, coating with silica was carried out via a sol-gel approach in which the electrostatically stabilized MNPs were used as seeds. The samples were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). Results: The results of XRD analysis implied that the prepared nanocomposite consists of two compounds of crystalline magnetite and amorphous silica that formation of their core/shell structure with the shell thickness of about 5 nm was confirmed by TEM images. The magnetic studies also indicated that produced Fe3O4@SiO2 core/shell nanocomposite exhibits superparamagnetic properties at room temperature. Conclusion: These core/shell structure due to having superparamagnetic property of Fe3O4 and unique properties of SiO2, offers a high potential for many biomedical applications. It is generally supposed by psychical researchers that (a) evidence suggestive of consciousness surviving bodily death would always be compatible with the so-called "super-psi hypothesis," according to which living-agent psi is wholly responsible for the evidence, and (b) in terms of their respective scientific merits the super-psi hypothesis and the survival hypothesis are on a par. This has produced an explanatory impasse regarding survival evidence. In this paper, I argue that certain kinds of near-death experience cases challenge the premises and the parsimony of the super-psi hypothesis. Abstract: A modified 2D-SUPER technique is demonstrated to allow independent measurement of the principal values of the chemical-shift tensors of overlapping protonated and unprotonated carbons. The insertion of a dipolar-dephasing period into the sequence causes loss of signal from protonated carbons. The spectrum obtained with this modification allows one to determine the principal values of the unprotonated carbons with high precision. Subsequent fitting of the usual 2D-SUPER spectrum, with the chemical-shift parameters of the unprotonated carbons fixed, gives the parameters of the overlapped resonances of the protonated carbons. As an example, we report the determination of the 13C chemical-shift parameters of the carbons of form II of piroxicam. The experimental results are compared with those obtained from calculations using the DFT/GIAO method. Potential applications of this method are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Super-resolution (SR) techniques make use of sub- pixel shifts between frames in an image sequence to yield higher resolution images. We propose an original observation model de- voted to the case of nonisometric inter-frame motion as required, for instance, in the context of airborne imaging sensors. First, we describe how the main observation models used in the SR literature deal with motion, and we explain why they are not suited for nonisometric motion. Then, we propose an extension of the observation model by Elad and Feuer adapted to affine motion. This model is based on a decomposition of affine transforms into successive shear transforms, each one efficiently implemented by row-by-row or column-by-column one-dimensional affine transforms. We demonstrate on synthetic and real sequences that our observation model incorporated in a SR reconstruction technique leads to better results in the case of variable scale motions and it provides equivalent results in the case of isometric motions. We have been developing large-scale SFQ digital circuit systems and have shown the successful demonstration of our prototype SFQ microprocessors and memories. Their circuit scale is now over several thousands of junctions. One question arising in such large SFQ circuits is whether their error rate is low enough for digital applications. In this study, we have examined the error rate of circuit components of our microprocessor. An error rate test system for a program counter (PC) of the CORE1 microprocessor was made using Nb 2.5 kA/cm² process. The system is composed of a clock generator, a comparator and a 16-bit PC under test It was found from the experiment that the system error rate of the 16-bit PC is lower than 10-8, which corresponds to a bit-error- rate better than 10-12. We have also evaluated a timing jitter of the clock generator and an effective temperature of the PC based on the experimental results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study the Hamiltonian structure and constraints of twistor-like super p-brane which preserves 3/4 of D = 4, N = 1 supersymmetry using the conversion method. Classical and quantum realizations of the BRST charge, the unified superalgebra of symmetries of the p-brane action, including generalized global superconformal OSp(1|8) symmetry together with Virasoro and Weyl symmetries, are presented. Background: Biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD-DS) is an operation which provides one of the greatest maintained weight losses of any bariatric procedure.We looked at the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic BPD-DS for morbid obesity. Methods: A 150-200 ml sleeve gastrectomy was created and anastomosed to the distal 250 cm of divided ileum. The median length of the common channel was 100 cm. All patients were prospectively followed up to 12 months. Results: 40 consecutive patients underwent laparoscopic BPD-DS as a primary procedure for morbid obesity. Median patient body mass index (BMI) was 60 kg/m2 (range 42-85 kg/m2). Mean age was 43 ± 1 years (± SEM), with 12 males and 28 females. One patient was converted to open laparotomy (2.5%). Median operative time was 210 ± 9 minutes (range 110-360 minutes) with a significant correlation between BMI and operative time (p = 0.04). Median length of stay was 4 days (range 3- 210 days). There was one 30-day mortality (2.5%). Major morbidities occurred in 6 patients (15%), including 1 anastomotic leak (2.5%), 1 venous thrombosis (2.5%), 4 staple-line hemorrhages (10%) and 1 subphrenic abscess (2.5%). Median follow-up at 6 months (range 1-12 months) resulted in 46% ± 2% excess weight loss (EWL) and at 9 months 58% ± 3% EWL. Conclusion: Laparoscopic BPD-DS is a complex, yet feasible, procedure resulting in effective weight loss with an acceptable morbidity. A BMI >65 was associated with increased morbidity and mortality. A long-term study is needed to confirm efficacy and proper patient selection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
