Abstract

The objective of research was to determine the suitability and carrying capacity of Tanjung Pasir Coast and Untung Jawa Island for tourism. Research was conducted through survey descriptively and evaluative approaches to obtain primary data while secondary data also collected as supporting. The suitability of Tanjung Pasir Beach for tourism was 83.33% (highly suitable), Untung Jawa Beach 78.57 and 85.71% (highly suitable), mangrove 56.14% (suitable), but snorkeling 42.11% (not suitable) and 56.14% (suitable). Carrying capacity for tourism in the beach of Tanjung Pasir were 162 tourists/day, Untung Jawa 74 tourists/day, mangrove tourism 69 tourists/day, and snorkeling 20 tourists/day. However, the actual numbers of tourists in the region have exceeded the carrying capacity. Therefore, the control of tourists number is needed in order to match the carrying capacity of its environment as a management measure.

Abstract

Population growthis linear tothe requrement of settlement area, while the area of the earth is limited. It was caused inappropriate use of the land. This study aims to identify, analyze, and describe dynamics and suitability of land for settlements in Padang. Determination of land suitablity for settlementis using Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) method. The indicators used in determining the suitability of land for settlement is the slope, the frequency of flooding, drainage, distrubusi gravel, rock distribution and effective depth. Weighting in the analysis of land suitability based on the opinions of experts from various fields related to as many as 15 experts. Analysis result for land suitability of settlements in the area show that: there were 12.543 ha (18%) very suitable for settlement; 52.390 ha (75,4%) were suitable for settletment; 4.279 ha (6,2%).were compatible with marginal for settlement; and 285 ha (0,8%) were unsuitable for settlement. The area is very suitable for residential areas is very limited, so expect optimal utilization.

Veranderingen in bodemgebruik zijn op grote schaal voorzien in Nederland. De kwaliteit van de bodem speelt echter nauwelijks een rol in de ruimtelijke ordening. Wij analyseerden de relatie tussen bodemgebruik en bodemkwaliteit, met gebruik van ecologische data en op nationaal schaalniveau. Ondanks grootschalige veranderingen in bodemgebruik, is er nog steeds een verband tussen bodemtype en bodemgebruik. Bodembeheer, historisch bodemgebruik en de geografische situering beinvloeden deze relatie, maar ook de invloed van bodemgebruik op verschillende bodemeigenschappen is herkenbaar. Zo wordt bodembiodiversiteit beinvloed door de intensiteit van bodemgebruik door de landbouw. Bodemgebruik is niet altijd daar gesitueerd waar de voordelen in termen van opbrengst hoog zijn. Minder dan 20% van de akkerbouw en veeteelt is gesitueerd op ongeschikte bodem, terwijl dat geldt voor meer dan 40% van de bosbouw. Gebiedsgericht milieubeleid biedt veel mogelijkheden om te differentieren naar bodemgebruik, waardoor het mogelijk wordt het bodemgebruik af te stemmen op de (gewenste) bodemkwaliteit.

Soil quality, however, hardly plays a role in spatial planning, which was reason enough to analyse the relationship between land use and soil quality on a national scale using ecological data. Despite major changes in land use, the strong linkage between land use and soil type was seen to continue. Soil management practices, historical land use and the geographical situation influence the relationship between land use and soil properties; the influence of land use on several soil properties is also discernable. Thus soil biodiversity can be said to be influenced by farming intensity. Land use is not always situated in areas where benefits in terms of yield are high. Less than 20% of the arable farming and pasture is situated on unsuitable soil, whereas over 40% of the forests grow on unsuitable soil. Region-specific environmental policy offers many possibilities for differentiation according to land use. It is also possible to match occurring soil quality to both existing and desired land use.

Abstract

The current Anti-G suite sizing system appears adequate for the male target population. It covers approximately 98.5% of that population. Three sizes are found to be candidates for elimination from the system: Sizes 7, 3, and 8. Several opportunities exist for system improvement by reproportioning some sizes. Recommendations were made for reproportioning sizes for men. Waist Circumference (at Iliocristable)) and Crotch Height were identified as the key anthropometric dimensions for distinguishing suit sizes. The procurement tariff resulting from this analysis differs significantly from that projected based on design criteria. Female data were collected in conjunction with the men, but analyzed and reported separately. It was clear that large proportional differences in the waist versus the hip made the suits unacceptable for many women. It was apparent that this type of Anti-G suit required sizes specifically proportioned for the female form. Past studies indicate that source of the problem, and the female data analysis includes results and comparisons from other studies.
